After trying a few cases and dock solutions finally found the best Combo
Was after an dock with audio out and Hdmi so decided to buy galaxy 7 hdmi multimedia dock and modify, but luckily the dock comes without the tab brace in place and with a copied eBay Samsung case (and original I imagine) with the lid folded behind the 7.7 it sits perfectly in dock with good angle.
Prob a bit over exited but with limited accessories around its been annoying and there cheap as well!

Also forgot to mention prob wouldn't buy from that seller of the case as took over 4 weeks to arrive from hong kong, but there are loads about.
yeah, i've got a few of these docks from an Amazon seller for $15. They don't work with cases, but I'm going to try heating the plastic holder up and see if I can get it to expand enough to accommodate the 7.7 in a case.
Wow ... they sell the dock without the tab braces on the left and right side ?
I saw some videos in youtube that showing how you can cut off these braces ( you will need some tooling obviously for that )

I used a dremel 2nd time around,
First time I used a knife which I had to heat a few times on the fire,
My folio case fits in the dock tight but does fit
Well the first one i had when i had my first 7 tab it was in place, but the one delivered from link above can without it and designed to click in place so no hacking required.
With out case folded back it leans to far back, but with case on spot on and save tacking case off result!
Oh nice, so you can actually unplug the tab braces out if you don't need it. that's pretty sweet
Too bad Amazon doesn't ship to Australia where I live atm =(

Check eBay aus
done that
only find the original accessories and will cost me $49
have some bunch of US or HK eBay seller, but the base cost already about $30
I wish Amazon could just ship their items to Australia, cause I find too many good items on Amazon that doesn't ship to us down here

any specific keyword though ?
I put "samsung tab hdmi dock" or "samsung 7.7 multimedia hdmi doc"
The cheapest is $24.22 plus $5.65

My mate spent 2weeks searching eBay aus before winning one on auction,
No point buying the 7.0 dock for $30 as you can order the 7.7 dock for slightly more money,
Best thing is to save the eBay searches,
For Samsung galaxy tab hdmi dock,
Samsung galaxy tab dock,
And wait for eBay to notifier you once someone has listed the item...
I have the OG 7" dock and the same case for the 7.7. This setup isn't ideal, imo. There's still a bit of wiggle room there that can put strain on the internal tab connector.
This is my setup too -- OEM BookCase with p1000 hdmi dock
Got the dock for $12 with free supersaver shipping.
Cradle support snaps on & off, so easy to use either way.
I trimmed mine with a crafty exacto razor/cutting pliers & an emery board
Works better if you leave protective plastic on til finished filing.
There is a bit of wiggle when the dock is naked, even with Tab in
case, but I resolved with 2 of those round felt button things that are sticky
on one side. The ones you stick on cabinet doors to stop em slamming, or on the bottom of chair legs etc to stop scratching.
I think they even have cut to fit sheets, you can custom fit if you like.
I had the felt buttons on hand & stuck em to the back of the center hollow where the cradle snaps in.
Now tab w/case fits @ perfect angle & stable.
Looks kinda cool with the round dots too
LOVE it

Hey guys I just ordered this and will let you know how I go:
http://wap.ebay.co.uk/Pages/ViewIte...l?ViewItem&item=140460255965&autoredirect=off
It's a case for the Zt-180. I checked and the measurements of the Zt-180 and gtab are very similar. I am fairly sure it will fit and I can see in the pic that the corner loops look to be elastic as well.
It should effectively fit similar to that kindle one others have been buying but the corner loops will be more flexible hopefully meaning that there is no need to cut off one corner like the kindle one.
Hi BAM,
I'd love to know how did it go with your case . I've got the same idea but since you are ahead of me so can i get a bit of feedback please.cheers..

eBay link: http://cgi.ebay.com/10-Leather-Case...ltDomain_0&hash=item483eb6c286#ht_1763wt_1139
$12.79 with free shipping.
Size: 10.6" x 7.09" x 0.59"
It has a stand built in as well. Since it's not that expensive, I went ahead and bought it, along with this bluetooth keyboard/touch pad combo:
http://cgi.ebay.com/New-Rii-Mini-Wi...ltDomain_0&hash=item4cf4a653c5#ht_6664wt_1200
$38 + $10sh, $48 total.
All in all, $60 spent. I also bought two docks from it2steve, I'm planning on setting up one dock on my nightstand, and then another dock in my living room for my tv. Then I could sit on the couch and type/control the tablet using the bluetooth device above. That's my logic at least, we'll see how it plays out.
I can see that set up you have working fine except the HDMI picture quality is lacking. Wish it output a better 1080p image to the screen via the dock. I also wish we can have profiles for the docked and undocked state. Let's say we have a way of automatically disabling the Wi-Fi, Adjust the brightness, enable blue tooth and enabling the HDMI all when in the docked state...now that would be great. But I still do like the dock.
All, remember that the quality of the 1080p playback will depend on the encoding used to create the video on the gTab to begin with. If i remember several posts by Robeet and others, high profile will not work on the Tegra2 CPUs, and we've already condensed the quality of the original to scale down to fit the 10" screen.
If you are expecting the lower quality to be upscaled, I think you'll be sorely disappointed.
I just received this case and so far it's not bad. I like that it hides the buttons on the right that I'm always pressing by accident and getting kicked out of whatever I'm in. The stand is not as sturdy as I'd like but it works. For the price, this is worth it for me.

Well I just bought one of those cases although it looks like it covers the camera port so I may need to do some modifying but great deal nonetheless. Hopefully it fits the tablet snug.

Nah its not that case.
I am still waiting on delivery as I bought it through ebay uk and I live in australia. It takes ages for UK items to arrive.
The case I bought has corner loops just like the kindle dx case but from the picture i saw it looks like the corner loops are half elastic hopefully eliminating the issue that the dx owners have had.
The measurements however look almost spot on.
Will definitely update soon. I expect the case to arrive this week. Fingers crossed!
Should look like this:
http://www.digibite.co.uk/ebay_img/10_cases/lc_no2_5 (Small).jpg
BAM
It fits perfectly! Like a glove!
There's no cutting stretching or modifying required. As I suspected the loops are part leather part elastic so it hugs the corners with enough freedom to access everything. Power plug still accessible, USB and sdmicro ok, and nothing else is blocked.
The leather is firm but feels soft. There's a slide in tag rather than a button/buckle to keep it closed. It works well and means your not pressing against the screen.
I'll post up pics in a day or so as I'm cutting into drinking time now.
ZT-180 case
I have an ePad ZT-180 (which died). I think it is the same as the aPad. It came with a leatherette folding case that has a built-in keyboard. It is an exact fit. Not only that but the USB keyboard works with the G-tablet. One of the clamps interferes with access to the USB port but a few nibbles with nibbling tool made a notch big enough for the USB connector an still left it functional for holding the tablet in place. - Jim
does it work as a stand?
No it's just a folio type case not doubling as a stand.
And i've updated the first post with pics to show how it looks.
Found the Tagus Truss case for the Acer Iconia fits perfectly. Very nice leather and is able to prop it up on a table.

Hey thanks for the info.I was also wondering if anyone has tried a Motorola zoom case.It looks kinda close, but wasn't if would work or not.
The xoom is about 2 inches smaller so the cases dont work. I tried to put mine in a friends xoom case
How well does it stay in the notches when in an upright position and being used? I find my CLIP from ElectronicCrap doesn't hold the bottom of the gtablet well enough when it's in an upright position and the screen is being tapped. It drops out of the notch and falls to the bottom position. :-(
Its a very tight/ snug fit. The bottom of the gtab fits onto a pocket that is as wide as the unit. I have no fear of it coming out of this case.
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
Actually I meant does the tablet stay upright while set in one of the notches, not whether the tablet itself would fall out of the case when in this position. Based on the design I would assume so which is better then the CLIP case does. Just wanted to confirm. Thanks.

Thanks,
Got one!
I went to Best Buy and grabbed one. Price there was $39.99, but the G Tablet fits very nicely. I took some pictures (sorry for the low light).
The Gtab slides in there very snug and secure. The top left strap just falls in between the volume rocker. It's not too bad, you can still adjust vol up & down very easily. And that same strap falls in between the power button and the USB cover. You can stil access it just fine.
I love how the case feels. You can fold back the cover all the way back and just use the tablet straight on, or you can open it and place it in one of the 3 little slots to adjust viewing angle.
I like it, it's very comfortable to sit in bed in and use. The multiple angles allows you to have it on your lap very comfortably.

What about the charging port and the headphone jack? Are they accessible as well? I got the toshiba thrive case and i'm having to take it back since the ports were not accessible. I am thinking about picking this up instead, but I don't want to have to take the tab out of the case to charge it...
Thanks!

Charging port and headphone jack are not blocked. I am attaching a pic of the side so you can see.

If you are going to pay that much, why not consider the clip case then, its officially made for the GTab and even allow docking while the tab is inside it.

Thanks for the reply.
I can't figure out how can you slide the tab in the dock with the case on. I mean its a "just fit" with only the tablet and dock, so when I tried with my own case the couple of mm's added thickness just made it impossible to dock the tablet.
Can you kindly post a pic with the tab docked while in the case ?
Canadian distributor for clip and targus cases discussed in this thread.
Does anyone know of a shop in Canada that sells either gTab CLIP case, or the Targus truss case for the Iconia?
I'm unable to find these products at staples.ca, futureshop.ca, or thesource.ca, and I don't want to pay a bunch of duty/brokerage/shipping fees getting it here.
Thank you,

I got the targus case too and I am liking it. Yaa it is a little bulky, but it feels well made and fits the gtab gr8! I love the three angles I can prop it. It also has some serious cushioning, making me less nervous about damaging my tab.
Got it from BB for $35 after a 10% off coupon for labor day.
Picked up rooCASE leather folio from Amazon, and it fits pretty well with the exception of the opening for the power button.
I got a handy candy case for the ipad. Great for carrying, I wouldn't mind dropping it a few times in this case. It also has velcro grips that can be adusted for propping the gtab up. Not great but definitely not bad.

Hey all,
I'm right on the trigger to finally get a Prime (sadly I can't find a dock anywhere, but one step at a time).
Anyway, I've been thinking that I'd like to get a sleeve for protection and easy transport, but that I won't always be using the dock. Connecting them is one option, but just to put it away and pull it out again when I'm not using the dock seems like too much of a pain (and unnecessary wear and tear).
So I was hoping that someone would have made a neoprene type case/sleeve/pouch by now that has a padded liner in it effectively creating 2 separate compartments. W/out this, you can't really throw both pieces in while they are disconnected I suspect w/out the chance for some scratching.
Has anyone else thought of this and found a solution???
Thanks.
OK, a little more hunting has uncovered what may be a good solution to what I'm after, but the pictures don't prove it. The description sounds just right:
-Semi-rigid, molded EVA shell designed to fit your iPad, iPad 2 , or 9-10 inch tablet
-The tablet compartments molded ribbing detail provides additional shock-absorbing protection
-Interior divider with its own securing strap separates the tablet from other accessories and keeps it in place
-Soft lining on interior divider helps to prevent scratches to your screen
-Interior storage for power cords, a wallet or phone

Wanted to share in case anyone is also looking, has their own suggestions, or feedback on this case...
Thanks.
I bought the Targus CitiGear Mini from BestBuy a week ago and really like it.
http://www.walmart.com/ip/Targus-CityGear-Mini-for-iPad-Tablet-Netbook/16480776
(BestBuy was selling it for 35$ and after I bought it I happened to see it on the shelf at Walmart (a mere block from the BestBuy mind you) a couple of days later for 25$, so I took it back to BestBuy and had them price match it)
It has the 'dual' pockets like you mentioned where you can put the dock in one side and the tablet in the other side. One slot is larger than the other, so you could also put the dock/keyboard in that slot if they are connected. The smaller slot where the actual tablet goes is pretty much the perfect size for the Prime as it barely fits. This is probably a good thing though b/c the tablet can't slide around what-so-ever while it is in there, so you shouldn't have to worry about it getting any scratches. The entire inside of the thing is the soft padded lining so you shouldn't get any scratches regardless, but I find it nice that the tablet is secure and can't move around in the first place. It also has an expandable pocket on the front where you can put your power cord, adapters and what not.
The CityGear looks like it might be a little bigger than the CaseLogic one that you mentioned but I couldn't be happier with the Targus carrying case. I think the CityGear might be easier to get into as you don't have to unzip it like the CaseLogic one. You simply unclip the buckle, flip open the cover and pull out the tablet. I have a case for my old laptop that you have to 'unzip' to open it, and it is a little bit of an inconvenience.

Thanks, I'll have to look into that one!
For anyone else looking, after reading some of the reviews to the link I posted earlier, I kind of got the impression that one of the "dual compartments" may be much smaller, intended for adapters and plugs... Just a hunch, but I wouldn't order it w/out someone explicitly saying it would fit at this point...
I have that one too. Works very well. It is my new carry-on bag. Much smaller/lighter than backpack with laptop and accessories.

It has 2 compartments and the larger one is divided in half where the back half fits the prime alone quite well. The front half would fit the prime attached to the dock or the dock separately. The smaller compartment has a mini pocket in it to hold an iPod or phone sized device with a space for headphones to travel up the strap and exit near your shoulder.
The only thing I didn't like (it isn't specific to this case) is that the USB charger wall wart has no place to go that is not a danger to the screen if the bag gets squished.

I just got this 10.2" Case Logic bag. Comfortably fits the tablet and keyboard dock. Not expensive (<$20). Decent padding. Light (7 ounces). Has detachable shoulder strap. Extra pockets with room to store a mouse, earbuds, stylus, charger, etc.
It may not fit if you have a case on your tablet. Tablet pocket dimensions are 10.5 x 7.7 x 1.5".
Highly recommend.

Good. I've got no complaints. Nylon and polyester on the exterior (think the brown version only uses polyester). No loose stitching that I've noticed. The tablet pocket is padded to protect against drops and such. The strap is connected with plastic hooks, but the plastic is thick enough that there is no give at all. Don't expect it to be a problem with such a light set up. I've had other more expensive bags with much worse craftsmanship.
And I just looked it up, says the bag comes with a 25 year limited warranty. They seem to have some confidence in their product.
Oh thats what I was looking for! The price at the time of this writing has dropped to 13.87! Im grabbing one!

$18.99 in Canada so that's pretty good. Thanks for the post.
Got mine in. Its great! Not only does it carry my Tab but I can carry both its charger and my phone charger in it, my phone and a thumbdrive or two. Mine didnt come with a shoulder for some reason. Great craftsmanship too! It loosk like it should have enough room to spare when I get the gumdrop case later this summer.

Here's the one I've been using:
http://www.amazon.com/Targus-CityGe...726W/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1338300267&sr=8-1
A little more expensive, but works well. I bought it for an old netbbok, but started using it again when I got the TF300. Plenty of room and plenty of pockets without being too big. Also, you can find them at Walmart and Best Buy if you're impatient and don't want to wait for the mailman to arrive.
My God!
Look at the same bag but from Amazon Spain:
http://www.amazon.es/Caselogic-VNA2...X2ZG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1337069084&sr=8-1
40 € = $53
WTF!
I've just ordered this hard case bag from Amazon UK

I can't post links or images yet , but if you look on amazon for "Targus CVR211" (It's black and gray) that's the one I use. I got it for $12 at Office Depot.
The front pocket has an organizer where I can hang pens and my stylus (Targus AMM0103US). I have my earbuds hooked up on a winder (Nite-Ize Curvyman Cord Supervisor) which is hooked onto the key ring. I keep the screen chamois/cloth stuffed in the pocket. There's plenty of room for the power adapter, and an SD card case, and my phone.
I wasn't happy with the selection of cases for the 4.2 Player. The only decent leather fitted cases I could find (PDAir ($29) and Noreve (49 euro)) seemed a bit pricey for what they are.
As many of you will know, the 4.2 is very similar in size to the Samsung S2 phone.
Dimensions:
4.2 player: 124.1 x 66.1 x 8.9mm
Galaxy S2: 125.3 x 66.1 x 8.5mm
Critically, the width is identical, which means some fitted S2 cases might work for the 4.2. And as the S2 becomes "old news", prices for the cases are falling.
I like Terrapin cases, and I found that I could buy one for the S2 for £5/$7 (I bought it from Amazon UK, but it was also available on eBay for the same price). The overall fit was very good:

The extra 0.4mm of depth on the 4.2 didn't make any difference, it slides in nicely, and the case closes normally (a nice magnetic clasp). The only problem was that the bottom grip on the case blocked the headphone socket:
My first thought was to put the player in "upside down", but then the side grips blocked the volume control.
My next thought was to cut the bottom grip vertically in half to uncover the headphone socket, but it turns out that the grip, which is covered in leather, is metal on the inside, and even using the sharpest knife I could find (which was supposed to be able to cut metal), I couldn't cut my way through.
So I went on to plan C, and broke the bottom grip by bending the metal backwards and forwards until it gave way. Then I cut through the leather from the inside, removed the broken clip, cut and folded the leather to make a neat fold, and glued it in place:
Looks fine to me, and the side grips hold the player firmly. It remains to be seen how this works over time, but for now I'm happy with the result.
Other things to mention: Luckily, the camera is in the same area as the camera on the S2. As you can see in the first picture, the rear of the case folds about a third of the way down the back, to allow access to the camera without removing the player from the case. And in case it bothers anyone who's thinking of doing the same thing, I should mention that there are two holes in the case for buttons on the S2 that do not correspond to buttons on the 4.2, so if that would bother you this is not the case for you:
Just ordered a case for mine, will check out the fit and put some pictures up when it comes through!

I purchased a fitted case for the SGP 4.2 on amazon a couple days ago:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00A9NLCRI/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 (not particularly sure if the item is still available )
I believe you can buy the same ones on ebay. It was fairly cheap and fits very well.
I was hoping they'd make bumpers for these

I'm going to buy this one from Amazon UK:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Amzer-Hybri...1387&sr=8-1&keywords=amzer+samsung+galaxy+4.2
It's only £5.99.
While I wait for it, can I remove the battery case once I fit the new case? Would this cool the battery down?
