Hello.
I find the volume in the earpiece speaker that is built into the phone to be too low, even at max factory setting. I'm talking about the earpiece built into the phone, the part you hold against your ear.
Can someone please provide one of thos secret codes that will give access to somehow change the maximum volume to something higher.
Also, I would like the ability to increase screen brightness to higher settings, if you can please provide a secret code and instructions for that also.
Thank You Very much
I don't have any such codes and also find the volume too low during calls but God, man, why on earth would you need a brighter screen? This is by far the brightest and clearest screen I've ever seen on a phone. You're gonna fry your battery and your retinas both at the same time!.

LOL. Well such codes must exist. I was able to do this 5 yrs ago on a motorola razr. Surely this computer of a beast vibrant must have some setting for volume adjustment!

I actually have a blind family member. Your comment was distasteful.
Ya if you need it louder your hearing is probably going but.. if you look around in the service menu there are audio options. No guarantees that your speaker won't be blown or that you won't mess up the phone depending on the settings.. the speaker on this phone is much too loud for me, especially since it's really bassy and resonates into my ear. I can feel it damaging my hearing.
There's a hack for most other android devices such as nexus one whining increases the volume by a good margin, I don't think it has been ported over yet though l.

whining? OK seriously I came here for help, not for people to call me deaf blind or whining. I asked you guys for a method to increase the volume, if you don't know there is no justification for the barrage of uncalled for comments.

how can I access the service menus, besides blowing out the speaker what other type of phone damage can occur?
The nexus used a kernel hack/mod to increase the volume... I'm not sure we're there yet in terms of mods...hopefully it will come soon! Not that I need it but I can see the use for it.
Hope you can get what your looking for OP

I wouldn't know, you asked for the code to access the menu to increase volume and this looks like it.

I find the ear piece volume to be excellent on my device, I'd love to have the speakerphone volume up'd though. It's too thin, and when on the conf calls I need to be really close to my phone to hear what's going on on the other end of the air

Through the speaker on the phone or headphones?
PowerAmp I believe has an EQ you can use to boost some levels, for the most part, the max volume is going to be a limitation of the phone.

Actually, it just occured to me -the headphone amp I use (Fiio E6) not only improves the sound of good quality headphones quite a bit, it will make the sound loud enough to totally deafen any normal person........

I thought the same thing until I saw how tiny this thing actually is.
It weighs absolutely nothing & is about the size of a matchbook.
Believe me, it is worth the little extra effort to use it & if you can't hear with this in place you would have to be completely deaf.
Since I bought the xperia s 2 weeks ago I have problem with hearing someone is calling me or calling him
I Turned all the volumes to max even if xLoud is on!!
so is it me having this problem or all Sony Xperia S !?

Yes, I wiped 'em all.
I agree, call volume is very low. Sometime, when the other caller is with a fix line it is allright, thought i would like to be able to keep one "up" volume in case of; but most of the time, the volume is really just enough to understand.
At the contrary, playing music over the headphone is quiet good, sometimes (most) too loud! Why on earth is the volume of the sound different when listening to music against a voice call???????????? There are horses demanding to be free....

There was a genuine issue with call speaker volume in the 2.3.7GB firmware, that was fixed with ICS.
Call volume it's now loud from my SXS.
Keep in mind some telephony devices that ppl use will be low and poor quality by default. The only way to fix that is to ask them to use a dif device.
-smc
My earpiece is loud enough to hear it on a noisy boulevard - the only thing quiet on the Xperia S is the speakerphone - it doesn't use xLoud and sound volume is a bit low during call... .453 firmware.
Agree. People hear me loud and clear and via the earphones it's good, but I have to press the phone to my ear so hard sometimes that it leaves a stripe...

Not to sound like Steve, but you're holding it wrong. Try calling a free number and move the phone around your ear a bit. I've noticed I had to hold the phone a bit lower then I usually do to hear the caller loud (plenty loud) and clear.
Mine is generally ok, it seems to be quieter with certain people so I'm a bit confused lol
I would agree that speakerphone is too low, seriously weak.

The position i have to hold it in doesn't quite feel natural, but if I look in the mirror it looks normal so I'd assume it is a small adjustment

I am having the same issue & i am on GB .73. I can not update to ICS seeing as Rogers wireless has not released the update yet here .
I wish the call volume was a bit louder. I downloaded the Volume+ app but it keeps forclosing so i am a bit upset about this. Hope with the ICS update they give us a louder call volume
New to the LG G2 and was just wondering if sound was supposed to come out of both of the bottom slotted holes. I only ask because I only get sound out of the holes to the right of the charge port
same. i've tested it with many uses and beginning to wonder if its just a decoration.

This is a microphone grate if I'm not mistaken. I'm fairly certain only one of them is a speaker. There are threads all over this forum with this being stated.

now, if you had the bastardized verizon version like i do, youd see how this is so. there's only one speaker looking grate on their version.. and its not a grate, it's 3 holes.. then the other side is 1 tiny mic hole. wish ours looked like yours though bc the asymmetric look is awful

Yes this was my first disappointment of the phone as well. I thought it were stereo speakers so the phone will play music with good loudness from the speakers. Then I played music and it came from 1 grill. I googled it and saw it had 1 speaker instead of 2. (Cheaters)

stereo speakers right next to eachother on the same exact side make literally no sense whatsoever. lol it would've been a waste of resources.

Yes that's true but it would improve the loudness of the speakers. I would use them for music outside but now I'm using a Bluetooth speaker.

How is the overall call volume? Is it loud enough?
Why do manufacturers do these dumb things?
I wanted the loud speakers mainly for the loud ringing advantage, as I set my phone down in one corner of the house and often miss calls as I can't hear it from the other rooms.
Hopefully there's a fix.

Seriously, I don't know why every review I've read so far talks about the power front facing stereo speakers when the volume is really so poor. What's the use?
Looks more like a software glitch to me.
One more bug I find was the volume indicator which appears when you press the volume rocker doesn't seems to be moving continously the correct volume levels. Again, not sure whether it's just me alone with this bug.

Well, it depends on you, but I feel it's a software issue as I could hear loudly when I play music. So it can't be a hardware issue. It could be a matter of bug fix update from Sony to fix it.
