I was wondering if anyone has seen a charging dock for the EVO 4g LTE. It seems the EVO is missing the contacts that the ONE X has on the back so that it can easily be placed in a dock. I know its not a deal breaker but i would really like to be able to just place my phone in a dock without having to fumble for the cable to plug into the side of the phone.
Look for sedio to come out with one....otherwise the kickstand is ur friend...

Except for the fact that the Micro-USB port is on the bottom when using the kickstand. A bit of a design fail there.

It's designed so you can flip the device over and still charge it while using the kickstand. Spring loaded, so it holds it up fine.
Yeah, I was about to say the kickstand is more rigid and firm than the og evo and works from any side.
**** Apple, I won't buy anymore of there products.
I found some for 12-20 on ebay for the one x I imagine it will work w the evo lte. Not certain as I've seen it said exact same size but also where it says diff sizes

I use this. It's a little pricey, but has good sound and works well with android. Has either AUX input or bluetooth for audio. Also should work with pretty much any phone with a microUSB port.
Philips Phone Dock
They also have one that can be powered by batteries, but it sounded horrible.

doesn't cover any of the buttons hence the cut out shown on the top there for the camera button. You can also tell the darker area where the volume buttons are so there is a cutout there likely too or its material that will be soft to push.
Looks a lot like they took the material and design of cases like the case-mate barely there case and just put a kickstand on it.
Now what would be even better is if they could just do it with the battery door instead of an actual case for those that like to leave their evo out of a case.
I for one hope Sedio can make their active case with one built in too as thats by far my fav case on my evo. pretty rough on my phone and like the grip. The otterbox ones looked lil too bulky for me too.

Too bad it forces the Evo to sit on the side where the charger is. Can't charge and use kick stand at the same time.
I'd still buy it though, I like being able to see my notification light while lying down.
I like it a lot.
Not saying it's going to happen but I wouldn't be surprised if htc made the case with a micro usb plug inside that routes to an external connector that's not hindered and available on another side other than the bottom when in landscape mode.

That would be very nice, wouldn't it. But I doubt if they'd do it, since it cuts into their stupid dock sales. But we can hope....
Usually when I use a kickstand I charge the phone at the same time (having a game on by my side with Wimax on, while I work, so need power).
I still think they should have built it in. My main concern is the combo USB/HDMI port. How do you charge the phone while using the HDMI out feature? Mirroring the screen consumes a lot of battery. To me, that is worse than not having the kick stand built in.

Really? So the HDMI cable can carry the digital signal out from the phone to the TV and an electrical current from the TV to the phone to charge it at the same time? I didn't think HDMI plugs were designed with simultaneously charging a device at the same time.
Are you sure about this? I'm not being combative.....I'd just like to know more. I really hope you're right.
Edit: Nevermind.....just found this:
http://phandroid.com/2011/03/28/htc...lity-without-an-hdmi-port-thanks-t-mhl-video/
Awesome, but:
"The only downside to MHL is that you must have the technology inside both the phone and the television, but the company behind it has gotten the likes of Samsung, Sony, Toshiba, Acer and more to back it. These are major television and handset manufacturers and if they start incorporating MHL technology into all of their televisions you can expect the rest of the industry to follow."
So now we need MHL compatible TV's to be able to use this feature? That I don't like.
Hope I can find a way to check if my Vizeo 50" has it.

Well, is not a HDMI, is a MHL port.
You need a TV that is capable of MHL charging, if not it will be only a HDMI funtion and it will not charge.

yay a kickstand case. I think I'll buy a 3rd party case when they come out, I'm sure there'll one that flips the evo to the other side, that way you could still charge it and have a kickstand. It'll be annoying to me, a right handed person, but for lefties and everyone who needs charging while using the kickstand, it'll be perfect. Plus this case is kinda meh

Anyway is the one at best buy the only one? Any reviews? Thanks!

I believe that the home dock is an expense solution compared to the stock EVO 4G one. I don't believe that it comes power cable, and definately doesn't come with HDMI (MHL compatible). So for $50 you get a EVO 3D holder. Might wait until 3rd party comes up with something better than OEM.
Also side note: Funny that Sprint is selling 3rd party iGrip car docks for $40 and BestBuy has the HTC OEM one for $60. Actually think that the HTC one is a little nicer and possibly worth the extra $20. I had the OEM one for my EVO 4G and found it very useful on long trips to keep my phone ready for GPS or as a MP3 player.
Thanks guys, I will look around.

Desk/Car Docks with Audio Out?
Does anyone know if there is or will be a car or desk dock with 3.5 mm audio out? I don't know if the EVO 3D even supports audio out from the USB port, but considering that there is HDMI out, I'd say its quite possible.
I've been looking at car docks online. I've found a couple that had micro-USB for charging, but not audio out.
i cant believe there sold out everywhere!!!!!!!
Ok so yeah real easy question i guess we might not know for another 2 weeks but like i already ordered most of my accessories ahead of time Im down to the Car dock.
I currently have the OGEvo and use the htc car dock every day. Literally, If the phone is not in my hand it is in the dock.
I understand they have the same general size but I am wondering if the E4GLE is the same shape and if it fits in the HOX Car Dock?
***Update
So Engadget updated its review of E4GLE and they said "shorter by one millimeter and wider than the international One X by four-tenths of a millimeter." Soooo...
That means that the E4GLE should fit nicely into the HOX car dock. Even better with full body skin it should still fit without problem. Which was an issue with my OGEvo dock, cause the official dock would rub off the top part of body skin.
Im ordering my Dock.
www.engadget.com
Don't know if I would risk it. I love my OG htc evo dock, but with the charging port on the side, its gonna be a little different setup, maybe more like moto docks. I am just gonna wait for the official dock.
I would keep an eye:
http://www.seidioonline.com/category-s/7878.htm
there, That is the Car Dock that I have for my HTC Evo 4G. Works great. They made one for the EVO 3D as well that had the side charge port. So I don't see why they won't have a new one for the LTE.
Will
I have also pre-ordered the E4GLE, yet I almost didn't because I have been unable to get information from Sprint or HTC on the dock. I do not the the dimensions of the One X are almost identical, a millimeter off on the width. So it may fit but it's still a gamble.
I use the car dock on my Nexus One every day. My phone is my nav and I can't really justify not having an OEM made car dock. If nothing is announced by launch day I may have to return the E4GLE and get the One X, even though I'd rather have the E4GLE.
Update!
B-)
shorter by one millimeter and wider than the international One X by four-tenths of a millimeter.
I dunno about the official dock, but i've bought vehicle specific mounting plates from proclip and then combined it with a slipgrip car mount from ebay with great results, just had to run wires for a 3.5mm/microusb connection for power and music. The slipgrip guy makes docks for certain cases too so i think im going to email him about that.

I swear by ProClips. It will take a while for ProClips to make a car dock until they get one in their hands. And when they do. I just need the phone dock part and not the car dock part.

I'm with ya, it took so long for them to make one for the OG evo that i looked to the slipgrip guy who actually made it for both the seidio innocase as well as the HC ballistic case. He epoxies the holder to whatever interface (suction cup, bike mount, vent mount) but i just asked him in the order to ship the two separate. I then did some modifications to the holder so it would screw in to the pivot joint that comes with the proclip holders, turned out pretty well. If history repeats with seidio's timeline, then i'll just have to do the same for this phone.
Does the LTE Evo not have pegs like the Nexus?
Plugging and unplugging both my OG Evo 4G and Evo 3D from the car dock (both are OEM, every other one I tried was even worse) scratches the living hell out of the power jacks. It's irritating as hell that they don't do audio through the dock as well. I guess with that new bluetooth 4.0 dongle, I won't have to worry about that.
I have the dock for the EVO 3D from Seidio and it also scratches around the charge port. Not much I can do about it:-(

email powermat.
personally I hate that thing and it worked like crap so I returned it. I want real wireless charging like the GS3 is supposed to have.
So because of the the UniBody design I looks like all the antennas are located under the top half removable cover.
Im thinking if i can mod the mother board like the OGEvo and run the cable out and place the coil on the bottom half and just protect it with a body skin like zagg or something.
Then i can use touchstone without it interfering with the NFC or any other of the antennas.
BTW if i could get this to work then i really wouldn't care about it showing thru skin. It would actually boost my Geek ego.
I have visited the future and I can confirm that no, there will be no PowerMat for the E4GL. Unless, of course, my actions change the course of events from this point forward. . . .
so wish another manufacturer would buy the Touchstone patents from HP. best thing ever!
I have a OtterBox commuter, and IM taking my touchstone from my of evo, and a Powermat case for the of evo and using the low profile micro USB plug from the power mat , and putting the touchstone under just the plastic of the OtterBox that way I don't really have to open up the evo LTE (wife really doesn't want me to kill the warranty) it was so nice to have the touchstone from the of evo, I think it would be better if HTC would just buy touchstone, or cone up with something similar, there is really no reason this is not a standard for phones, sorry this is one of my biggest complaints about smart phones, from a hardware stand there its no reason that phones don't have this, maybe a patent thing.

I think it was designed for that. Specifically so that you can access the port while propped on the stand. That's why it's so much stiffer than the OG one.
I personally never used the kickstand and probably never will, but i just tried using the kickstand with the charger port up and it didnt collapses but it was easy to collapses. this. can you charge the phone while having the kickstand out? yes Is is practical? probably not. I don't think the kickstand was designed so that you can have it connected to the charger and poke away away at like nothing is adding wight to the top of the phone. Using the phone WILL probably cause the kickstand to collapse while its connected to a charger cable. just look at the design, extra pressure will just close the kickstand up.

It certainly was designed (and marketed) to hold the phone in either position. A major complaint from og Evo users was the inability to charge while using the kickstand dual position kickstand was hyped by Sprint and HTC. It should not be wearing out already.
