[Q] hidden apps... - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

I have rooted my XS, and I used root explorer to clean the unwanted apps.
Where can I find the PC-Compansion.apk? so that by deleting it, it will not ask you to install the software when you connect it to the computer. I know it's under the system/app for X10, but I can't find it on XS.
Also, I've uninstalled (normal method of uninstalling) some apps that came with the stock rom (e.g. whatsapp, wildpilot). but if i factory reset the XS, they come back!!!
I just want to know where are they hiding so i can send them to hell!!
Thanks

You can uncheck the pc companion if you don't want to ask you again.
The apps are stored in /data/app

i now i can uncheck, but it still uses up some space...
and i've double checked data/app, it was empty before i do master reset, and the apps still come back....
i wouldn't come here and ask if it was that easy

I don't think you can remove pcc cause the settings will FC.
And for the apps you can edit the ftf(system.img) file and build your own firmware without the junk apps.

oh. is this the only way to remove them?
It's weird... because i can "uninstall" them (i don't know if it's actually just "hiding" them from the app drawer), they are "gone", i mean i can't find them anywhere... but they come back after a factory reset... shouldn't a factory reset clean all apps that isn't under system/app and why is Sony putting them there permanently...
anyway, thanks!!

No, a factory reset will set the phone back to the original firmware state, and thus any apps that are part of that image will be restored. Some carriers will add their own stuff to an image, and Sony themselves will usually bundle some free stuff in the firmware depending on the region.
Personally, I use Whatsapp a lot, so I don't mind it being pre-included.
I think you need to have a deeper understanding of how things work first.

[Q] Atrix 2.3.4 and new Market Force Close when clicking download?

Anyone else have this issue? To install the new market I had to use my system app remover, and I wonder if that's what went wrong. I have the AT&T 2.3.4 rom and am (obviously) rooted, unlocked bootloader, yada yada yada...
When I click an app or game it will go through the screens until I hit "Install" and then pops up this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

Any suggestions? Or does anyone have an APK of the original market I can install? I think it was listed as vending or android.vending or something like that.
(Note to self: back things up before removing them = )
Once I backup my market i will post link. backing up now.
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=WTRCI35D
Its the vending.apk should revert you back to working market
try if dont work let me know.
Just use the app manager to uninstall the update. That's what I did to get back to the old version.

Thanks, market looks like old one, but now I get force close more frequently, after clicking pretty much anything. Like as soon as I click "Games" at the top I have force close now. I must have removed something important when I uninstalled the old market... I don't use the market enough to really care that it's gone though, and any app that I find there I could just sideload I guess. If it bothers me enough I'll just re-flash. Thanks for the help guys.
flash 2.3.4 system.img via fastboot just the system should fix it
I had to do that once or twice
Thanks I'll try that right now, just backing up all my apps and stuff. I'll try just flashing system, and then won't restore the market app when I restore backups if it works. I'll post back results in case this happens to anyone else.
Update: Flashing just system worked like a charm, still have all my apps and all too! Thanks for the suggestion Xenocyde!

how to select/mark all apps from play store and download them all with one click

I have this situation here and I was wondering maybe a app or something for my question,
thank u
you are talking about UPDATING your apps?
If that is , no need for any app. Just go to MY APPS it will show all your apps that need update. Just "press" on the header with the number of updates and it will automatically start download of all of them.

I think the OP means that after a new flash they want to re-download all apps that has been previously on the device without having to go to each one and hit download. As far as I know, you can only do one at a time, doesn't take that long.
Chris.
hes got a piont ,i mean in market we brouse ,select ,download and again browse,,,,it was a good feature if google added it ,clicking on the apps we want and jus download them all ,jus like the update feature in my apps we can select update all....
if i were you do with titanium backup app.with one click and you can reinstall all your apps.
Or,go to setting>back up and reset then choose back up my data>back up account. When you make factory reset,hard reset,install a new rom login with your account and your all apps will be load as otomatic

HELP! Missing Live wallpaper selector !

Hi guyz , i rooted my galaxy s3 and i installed an app wich helped me to delete few sys apps , after i deleted some sys apps it's much smoother but ... i can't set any kind of live wallpaper because i don't have the live wallpaper selector , i don't want to loose my apps and my files , so don't tell me to flash it again , i want just the live wallpaper selector , i use XXELLA FW europe version , thanks in addvance
If you didn't take a backup first, then all you can do us flash again. You wont lose anything but still, take a nandroid backup first and titanium.
I'd recommend flashing wanam lite as a touchwiz rom. You'll get all the things you NEED and none of the crap you don't
...
You could even download a rom and extract it from there....

I should have listened to lookout scanner and blocked this program. But, ignoring that and installing the apk later that day is when I noticed LWP picker and all apps 'unfortunately' quit working. For whatever reason, Titanium Backup had the app 'Live Wallpaper Picker' froze after a few hours of searching. So, if this helps anyone stumped as to why the setting is all of a sudden gone, Your welcome.

Getting a download issue when installing an apk from Internet.

Any help would be appreciated. I have more than enough storage space to spare a 100MB game download. Running a Rooted S4.

How much internal space do you actually have?
You can try clearing data/cache on Google Play Services / Play Store. Rebooting and seeing how that treats you. Or grab Disk Usage from the play store to see exactly how much storage you have left and what's using it.
Either you really don't have the space or its just one of them buggy things where hopefully clearing data will fix it.

Cleared data and cache and same error pops up. Disk Usage shows I have over 4GB storage to spare so I don't see a reason why this would be happening

Try going into /system/app or /data/app and look to see if the game or app your trying to download is there and delete it. That's worked for others. Is It only with this app?
Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
Yeah I've tried that already before and there is no apk whatsoever for that app in /system/app or /data/app. It's only this app that's giving me issues. I installed another app and it worked fine after I got this error.

tried that and it seems to be an error for only apps downloaded from the market.

Can you disable, hide, remove the SmallApps in the multitasking menu?

I've seen plenty of videos about the Z2, but I'm wondering 1 thing.
Is it possible to remove the white bar with SmallApps from the Multitasking menu?

Let's say I root the Xperia Z2 and remove it, will I be able to return to factory settings when I do a reset? Aka the deleted file be back again?
I'm on a Nexus 4 now but I don't know how things work regarding rooting on other phones.

using root it wont come back from a factory reset but resetting via flashtool(flashtool.net) or sony PC companion will totaly reset the device to a complete factory state (exept bootloader being unlocked, that stays untill the user restores their TA partition backup or relocks their bootloader

Yes! That is what I mean. Do I really need root for that or can it be disabled in the settings
I think root is needed because it can't be disabled with built-in App Manager
