Hi every one, my brother has an Xperia NEO MT15i, android version is 2.3.4, and the build number is 4.0.2.A.0.62
Anyway, he wants to root it and unlock the boot loader and he also wants to overclock (which will need a custom kernel)
My brother is a noob in android so he seeked for my help because I've rooted and S-off my HTC wildfire. But of course, HTC devices are different from Sony devices so actually I got lost while browsing the Neo forum.
I've found a way to root but its for build number 4.0.2.A.0.42
So if 62 is unrootable I'll need to downgrade to 42 first which also I don't know how to do it.
So I need a way to successfully root build 62 or downgrade to 42
Thanks in advance.

well my friend if you want to start testing custom rom's and making OC with your phone here is the official tool from sony to unlock your bootloader http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/
then with the BL unlocked you can easily downgrade but for downgrade I recommend that you use this program "Flashtool" you can get it here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1351317
this program is very user friendly just hit the lightning and there are all the options but you have to know some hardware combinations like if you want to change the build you have to turn off the phone keep press back button and plug your phone to the pc with this you can put your phone en flashmode and for changing kernel's again phone off you press menu button and plug your phone your notification led should be blue and this is the fastboot mode, for the recovery mode when you flash an OC kernel with recovery just turn on your phone keep your eyes on the notification LED and when you see that turns on hit volume (-) in there you can install all custom rom's and stock rom's
i warn you that when you unlock your BL you can't upgrade your phone via OTA (over the air) because it will brick your phone
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1316394
here you can find all the kernels, Roms and the firmwares
enjoy flashing
Read sticky threads in neo and neo v section, that way you will get fast inside view into Xperia Neo(V), ways of unlocking Xperia bootloader and flashing custom kernels. Also you can read sticky threads in Xperia Arc.
unlock boot loader,flash a custom kernel(recommend nightelf's latest for gingerbread) and install rootxperia zip via cwm recovery.google for root xperia zip.
Nightelf's kernel comes with cwm pre-installed

Hello XDA
I'm in the same situation than the user, but with one difference, under the service menu, my phone says "bootloader unlocking status: No"
Does that mean that I can't unlock it without paying or I still can do it for free under S1Tool?
My phone was bought simlocked to the Vodafone Spanish carrier.

some RoMs required unlock bootloader....
check here for more info:-

i have read for a long time and try some roms who didint say req bootloader unlock but all stops on sonyericsson (bootloop) maybe it is here someone who try and work with a specific rom ...
Maybe they aren't saying that you need unlocked bootloader, but if "kernel" is mentioned, then you need that kernel and kernel flash need unlocked bootloader.
Practically every custom ROM needs it's own kernel, so I'm afraid you'll have to unlock your bootloader.
My manual said that only if defects were caused by custom software, I'd might have to pay for the reparation.
Yes i know but i come from Htc where it was easy (root and redy to install everyting) and now i`m stuck but i don`t give up my garanty for this it maybe later it will apear some roms only with root
tnx all
Hi,
I have been reading up alot recently about rooting and flashing my phone (Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray) as currently my carrier (O2) is not releasing ICS for updates as they have not "tested" it sufficiently on my particular device (this was there explanation to me via email).
I have looked on the official sony ericsson website trying to find a way to update my phone and found that the method there required my phone to have an unlocked bootlader but unfortunatly my phone has a locked bootloader (im assuming due to it being locked to O2 although it is a pay as you go model).
I have read conflicting opinions on whether you can root and flash your phone in my situation and was just wondering (before i tried anything at all) whether someone could clarify if it would be possible to update my phone to ICS.
For reference this is my phones status:
Rooting Status:
Bootloader unlock allowed: No
Thanks
Try find generic ics for ray, flash it using flashtool.
Or u can pay to make your bootloader unlockable.

Read http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1695514
When you follow the Link Tutorial you have at the end Root and ICS on your Ray, without unlocking your bootloader (unlocking bootloader causes probably in lost your warranty!)
You need unlocking Bootloader for new Kernel and/or some Custom Rom´s, but there are some rom´s for locked bootloader.
Don´t forget to save your build.prop in /system befor you do something from the guide! With original build.prop you can flash your phone to O2 original software when there are something to repair in service center.
So I've finally upgraded from my x10 mini pro to the xperia U and i planned to break into development on this device but i seam to have hit a wall.
following the instructions here;
unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/instructions
It seams I'm one of the unfortunate few with "Bootloader unlock allowed no". has anyone found an exploit to get around this slight snag?
Some more info;
Carrier = 3
Model = st25i - 12w32

LWW with phone info:
android version 2.3.4
build number 4.0.2.A.0.62
kernel version 2.6.32.9-perf [email protected]#1
i used the following tools to unlock my bootloder: "DooMLoRD_v4_ROOT-zergRush-busybox-su"
after this my rooting status : boot loader unlock allowed: yes..
now i want is unroot.
now i am using "DooMLoRD_v1_UNROOTING"
but this i getting error.
plz find the attachment
help me...
Root and bootloader are two distinct things. Unlocked bootloader allows you to change kernel, while root is the ability to pass certain system restrictions.
What are you trying to do? un-root your phone or relock bootloader? I think the fiorst since i doubt you unlocked your BL, in that case just flash the stock ftf for your phone

First, ur firmware version cant be rooted (need to downgrade to .58) with that tool.
Second, that tool is for rooting, not to unlock ur bootloader.
Third, "unlock bootloader allowed: yes" means u can unlock it, doesnt mean it already unlocked or rooted.
U have a lot misunderstanding man. Learn more...

@chepoz thanks now i understand a little.
if u have wt19i or any other android device than i want to know is rooting is really a necessary for hiding app icon from launcher.
i m not so tech person
or what r the risk in after rooting the phone
unlock bootloader allowed: yes is this due to script which was i run on manufacturer permission
becaz i afraid about my warranty.
There are no risks in rooting your phone, as that merely allows for certain apps to run certain functions (it all depends on what you do with those apps, i.e if you overclock or undervolt wrongly using apps for this you might fry your phone)
It is not due to the script, some devices can unlock bootloader thorugh sony official method (those marked bootloader allowed yes), if it says bootloader allowed No one would have to use testpoint or wotan server method if this doesn't work
Rooting does not void warranty, unlocking bootloader does.
Hello guys!
I have a Sony Xperia M4 Aqua E2303 from Orange with their custom firmware.(Their Apps and start-up logo, etc.)
It is possible to flash the sony stock firmware(marshmallow) to get rid of this custom firmware ?
Also after flashing the stock it is possible to install a custom recovery like TWRP?
If is possible to do those operations ,is there a way to back up the actual firmware in case of possible problems?
Im kinda new to this forum but i want to thanks in advance for your help and advices .
Thanks again and have a good one !
If you bought it from Orange, check that your booloader is unlockable (to do this, type this in the call menu: *#*#7378423#*#* then in Services info, rooting status you can see it)
If it's unlockable, you can flash recovery and root it after you unlock the bootloader (You will lose your DRM keys)
Here is a guide about rooting and unlocking.
With root, you can also remove those apps that you want.
(the guide is made for E2353, idk if the files will work for you...)
Also, here you can find the stock roms.

Thanks for your help buddy.
Unfortunately the bootloader is not unlockable.
But i took the risk and i flashed a stock firmware (E2303,Central Europe 1, 6.0.1) via Flashtool and XperiFirm. I got rid of all orange apps except one which is good ,my free space is around 4gb from those 8gb. Also the phone is more faster in menus and some apps.
I saw a thread here on xda , about rooting and flashing recovery with locked bootloader but need to downgrade to lollipop Here. I do not not know if it is worth the while.
Is there any way to unlock the bootloader even if it says that it can not ? Maybe Sony Support?
Thanks again ! Good Day !
Your welcome, also i sad to hear, that you can't unlock your bootloader Have a nice day
