Keyboard Custom Shorcuts - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

Ok ... I really wish Asus built this in, but has anyone found a solid solution( or any solution really ) to map keyboard key combinations to custom shortcuts on the dock keyboard. I would kill to be able to map Ctrl+~ to terminal( and like 10 other shortcuts ) lol. Look around and couldn't find anything.

No idea if this works well or on the Prime, but seems like what you are after.

Thanks, I've tried this before. Basically because it's the only thing even close. I didn't like it much in my opinion. Don't get me wrong, it's great that we have 'something' that does this functionality. But having only search+[Alpha] | [Numeric] is pretty limiting. I've swapped the search and left alt keys on my Prime, and shortcuts still work, just not idea key combos.
Thanks for looking out though, will probably keep it installed this time just to see if any updates come out for it.

Why doesnt Droid X KB work on our devices?

Just wondering why the font is so small. Coming from a L0Lphone Im used to the multitouch as I type and while I love the HTC IME, Id gladly have the MT capabilities.
I've tried and loved that keyboard on the nexus and it does work way better, font is legible. Wondering though, how do you benefit from multitouch? I type rather fast, I haven't noticed any difference.
with the HTC IME, the keys are responsive and dont lag, but I often move too quickly overlapping keypresses constantly. Without MT, the keys arent always recognized. While the font is legible, its freaking small and a pain if Im searching for a character I dont immediately know the location of on the KB.
Mostly Im wondering if there is anything we can do to make the font render properly
I agree it would be nice to have this working as it's one of the better free keyboards. I ultimately caved and purchased SmartKeyboard Pro. It's just as fast the as Droid X keyboard but with more features. The only thing that isn't quite as good is auto-correction but its still better then the stock keyboard for that.
Yeah, the droid KB is the best out, but I was wrecking my eyes trying to read the symbols.
I'm using the HTC IME Keyboard, which is much slower than my fingers and fumbles text quite a bit. I'll deal with the annoyance just to keep my eyes in good condition.
The keyboard has mutlitouch. Press and hold a key the press a second key. They both register the touch.

Instead of everyone else in this thread who just completely ignored your question, I have to agree with you. I'm trying to get the thing to work by just editing the .xml files in the .apk, but it's much more difficult than I first thought. I will get back to you if i make any progress.

yeah, it really makes no sense why the font is so small...
Here's to hoping someone can crack just exactly why
I have no idea whether this works or not but the people at this blog got it to work on the Samsung Galaxy S so it might work on the Vibrant. Check it out:
Code:
megaupload. com/?d=8BWYGDTQ
I'm not allowed to post links so I placed a space between the download link so remove that and you should be good to go.
Here is the website where I found the download link:
Code:
android.hdblog.it/ 2010/06/26/tastiera-multitouch-per-android%20-arriva-il-porting-del-droid-x%20/
Here is a video showing the keyboard (check at 3:17):
Code:
youtube.com/ watch?v=47T3MGcygJA
boo, still doesnt work. Small letters for the lose
I'm more interested in the EVO's keyboard. It has the arrows right there on the keyboard. Coming from a G1 with a trackball, I find it hard to tap between the letters where I have to fix my error (or autocorrect's error). I know the HTC_IME mod has the option to use the volume rocker as left/right movement, but those aren't the easiest to push when typing in landscape.
you guys do realize that the Samsung keyboard included with the phone is multi touch right?
It's a nit pick, but I don't like the Samsung kb auto correct bubble popping up and down all the time ha-ha

I did say the SAMSUNG keyboard. NOT swype
Moderatior please cancel. I posted this wrong
I could not express what I wanted
I saw multitouch . In the past I thought it referrred to browsers . Now I see it in the same sentence as keyboards. so I was confused and didn't know how to ask. U can PM me the answer if you like
I shake a lot, Maybe terets, so I like speech functiion of the HTC but I really liked the Nexus Keyboard. Any recommendations
but like I said, I am not a developer I could not express it. You can delete it. IF you wanna pm me, I would love it
I like having hepatic feedback, but not vibrate on my keyboard. That's why the Samsung one is a no go

[Q] Seeking Arrowed keyboard

I have been trying to port an arrowed keyboard with very little success so I was wondering if anyone found one that works.
I am talking about the same one like the stock Rezound keyboard but with arrows.
Well, I've always used SwiftKeyX, and it has arrows. I know it's not exactly what you were asking for, but... Just an option.

I do have SwiftKey and like it but I am trying to keep the keyboard in my ROM as stock as possible but I really miss the arrows I had on the Inc.

To be honest, I miss the optical button. I find myself still trying to use it move the cursor around. Oh, I wonder if it's possible to use the area below the tactile buttons? I'll post a link showing what I mean.

Automatic Keyboard Switcher App

As far as I'm aware nothing like this currently exists, and it's become all the more desirable with devices such as the transformer/prime. I keep my keyboard set to the Asus keyboard to ensure complete compatibility with the dock, but when I undock it I prefer to use Swype. It would be awesome if there was an app/setting that could detect the dock and change my input settings accordingly.
+1
Nice one. Just half an hour ago i was looking for the same thing without finding anything... This would help i imagine something that is automated or with a widget for the desktop. So I can plug in the dock hit the widget and the IME is switched.
Btw I think this is my first xda post written with the transformer prime. OMG this is sooo good!!!
I need this app too
But this App requires root, I think. It is impossible to change the standard keyboard programmatically.
see here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/3916184/android-set-default-keyboard
As a UK user the need is equally as acute even basic symbols (£, @ etc.) are on different positions on UK keyboards. The dock has them in the correct place, but use anything other than the Asus software keyboard and the whole thing gets messed up!
theres a wii mote app i used on my PoV Mobii that changes to selected keyboard on disconnect without the need for root...
Tasker?
I have yet to venture into tasker on the tablet yet but I am guessing you could get it done with this app. Very functional automation tool for android.

Good idea! Trying Tasker now, I'll let u guys know ^^
Here is my a little bit more permanent solution:
[MOD] Adjust your hardware keyboards default language
This includes changing /system files, so you need to be rooted.
Works perfectly for me

Behold! Keyboard manager! The app you seek!
You'll have to search the market for "keyboard manager" since I'm not allowed to post links yet...
Recently open-sourced, but not before the author added support for hardware keyboard detection. I had to dock/undock a couple times after activating the app to get everything peachy. Be sure to select the keyboard you want for all 3 options - portrait, landscape, and hardware. This DOES require ROOT.

Keyboard Manager is confirmed working on my rooted Android 4.0.3 Prime. I have my tablet keyboard set as Thumb Keyboard 4 and my hardware keyboard as the default Asus keyboard for dock compatability.

Sixaxis Control Map for NBA Jam???

Has anyone else gotten NBA Jam to work on their Prime, I did, but now I want to know if anyone has or knows how to map the touchpad controls with the Sixaxis controller app. I tried but I seem to not be able to get it to work.
Assistance anyone?
+1
Currently without my tablet to test it out myself.
+2.. holding off on buying this until I can confirm it works with a controller.. I love this game, but I don't want to play it on glass..
Dope! I didn't know this game was out. Ill get it most likely when I get home tonight...looks so fun. If I get it ill make a map tho
Modded by MBOK
I can't make a map for this thing.. It does this strange screen rotation thing.. like it forces it into portrait, while you have it in landscape, but it still displays portrait.. I messed around with +90/0/-90 offsets, etc.. I got the left analog to kind of map, but left was down, etc.. and some directions went off at an angle..
I'd love it if someone could figure this thing out.

Is this a game that I'd have to download to my phone and pull it? I didn't see it in the market on my prime.
Yeah, I just bought it and sent it to my old phone, then copied off the .apk. It installs just fine and runs great on the Prime.. so stupid it's not available for d/l.
You can see it from your computer, just go to the play website and buy it there. As long as you have a compatible device, it'll let you buy it.

I suppose I'll try again tomorrow with the D-pad instead of analog, that way I can get around the rotated analog stick controls.
Try this set and see how it works.

Negative..
With that mapping it seems like d-pad down is start.. and square button is down..
EDIT - My fault, it works really well, I had my offset set to -90. Looks like something is up with the analg stick causing the buttons to fire, especially when holding the stick down/left if you have the ball.. I shrank the size of the analog control, but it didn't help.. I'm just using d-pad, and it appears to be working perfectly that way.
THanks for the help! I learned quite a bit just looking at your mapping..

Stock Samsung Keyboard

Hello folks!
I'm looking for a way to rearrange the buttons on the Stock Samsung GS2. I know there are many custom keyboards, but I want to use the stock Sammy keyboard, because it's the best in terms of accuracy and buttons size. Can I manually rearrange the buttons, because my laungauage (Bulgarian) is not in QWERTY but in BDS format which is very uncomfortable for me. I'm root user, so don't tell me "You need root to do this", just say the way I could possibly do it, please. I've thought so far for decompiling the keyboard app, but still haven't tried.
I'm searching in Google for quite a lot time about this, but still haven't found an answer. Thanks to anyone willing to help!

I do have the paid version of Swiftkey 3 but it's so incorrect for me. Buttons are too thin, I can't (in most cases) tap the required one. Interesting fact is that I was a lot better with Swiftkey 2. It's suggestions were better also, now in version 3 I get good corrections very rarely so I have to manually type everything. And I don't like typing manually on Swiftkey because of the many mistakes I make.
Yesterday some user extracted his Galaxy Nexus' keyboard and posted it on the forums. I'm typing now from it and what to say..... it's perfect. I made 4-5 mistakes while writing this post. Too bad that keyboard doesn't have Bulgatian. I should try another ICS keyboard from the market.
