My friend has an Atrix 4g from At&t and he has it unlocked for use with tmobile. It's firmware is still on 2.2.2. If He updates it will the phone still be able to be used on tmobile?

hello
I bought an AT&T unlocked Motorola Atrix. It is now 4.1.83.
My question is can i upgrade my phone to 4.5.91? I am not using AT&T.
i think you can't
i have an att atrix on a carrier in canada and was able to get all the updates without a problem if you are stock. or you can just get them from the dev section and flash it.
i have a stock AT&T Atrix shipping version Blur_Version.4.1.26.MB860.ATT.en.US. im planning to SIM unlock it and send it to the Philippines. Is it possible to update to version Blur_Version.4.1.57.MB860.ATT.en.US to Blur_Version.4.1.83.MB860.ATT.en.US and to Blur_Version.4.5.91.MB860.ATT.en.US by using different carrier/network here in the Philippines?
what should I do? please help.
thanks in advance.
Yes, the device is still AT&T branded, the device will search for updates of AT&T version.
But you can use other SIM Card.
I unlocked my device at 4.1.26 and then updated to 4.1.57 and then to 4.1.83 ..
thanks man!
Hi,
I'm using a sim unlocked (not rooted) HTC Amaze phone with T-mobile; previously used with Windmobile Canada. It seems I cannot get the official update from T-mobile since my software version is different.
Is there any way I can get the official ICS, without rooting or voiding my warranty?
Thanks.

No, you have to be running T-Mobile software in order to receive an OTA from T-Mobile.
Hi guys, since upgrading to a stock ATT M8 (from a rooted ATT M7) on December, I have wanted to do the Lollipop update, but I do not want to risk the phone by rooting it (maybe I could do it on a last case scenario). ATT recently pushed the OTA update to the M8, but mine is unlocked, and I'm currently using it on Claro PR, so when I check for updates it gives me nothing. So here goes my question, can I manually download and push the ATT update from HTC to the M8 (as it is on stock kit kat)? My only doubt is that since it's unlocked, could it brick during the process, or would it be alright? Thanks in advance!

Is it SIM unlocked or unlocked from HTC? Unlocked from HTC means it has no carrier branding/bloatware and can be used on any network, compared to SIM unlocked where its just an AT&T phone with AT&T apps and branding that is SIM unlocked. If its unlocked from HTC you could just use an RUU to update. If its SIM unlocked from AT&T you could use an RUU but I'm unaware if that would then break the SIM unlock.

Sim unlocked (with ATT Bloatware and branding).
So, should I do it?
Hello everyone!
I wanted to know if there is a way to unlock the 4g lte on my phone. I live in europe which means the 4g is locked. My phone is currently running WizCyan and its rooted obv, but i don't have a custom bootloader since when i got the phone it was already in Lolipop . If you know a way, please let me know.
Cheers.
