Question about flash player in TF Prime - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

Hi, here is a doubt / problem / question I have about the flash player in the TF prime..
I posted about this in the Android Q&A forum but I wasn't sure if that was the right place.. hence I thought I'll drop the question here as well, and I also saw the replies to threads in this forum is more than there..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1651191
Can some please help? Thanks in advance.
Edit:
I checked again and it seems the Adobe flash player is installed and working properly.
But when I try to run some Java tests or Shockwave player tests, they don't run and it looks like they aren't installed / aren't working properly.
Now, please forgive my ignorance, but is it that Java or Shockwave do not work on Android OS or browsers? I have tried this with Opera browser for android.
Thanks and cheers..
Edit 2
Ahh.. this is driving me nuts.
Now when I try to open Amazon Cloud Drive through the browser (Opera), it says Adobe flash player is required and it doesn't seem to be installed in the browser and I should get flash player..
Whats this all about? I have flash player installed I tried to check in Opera settings to see if there was anything I need to change / enable but I couldnt find anything relevant.
When I try to install flash player from that page in any case, I am not able to because it says the OS isn't supported!!!! WTH!
Edit 3
I tried with Dolphin Browser HD and there it seems to work without any problem - I can access the Amazon Cloud Drive folders for example and other sites and I don't see "no flash" error messages with Dolphin!!!
Hmm...

That was the only thing to do, trying another browser, like dolphin or Firefox

Yes, I have now checked different sites with Dolphin browser and they all work fine, while they don't with Opera!!
So probably I'll stick with Dolphin HD for those sites, for now.
Btw, while searching for a 'fix' for this issue, I came across many places which suggest Chrome Beta is also 'amazing' and 'wonderful' and the fact that once it comes out of Beta, it will be the stock Android browser? Is that true? And how is Chrome beta on an Android phone or tablet? Is it better than Dolphin or Opera, in all functionality?
Thanks and cheers.
Edit
Well, I guess I jumped the gun there.. I tried some flash and shockwave test pages.. Flash is working fine but Shockwave player test fails even with Dolphin HD.. uufffffffff... I'm a bit tired now!

Playing full flash content from browser other than skyfire.
Edit: Reverted back to original stock. I have called Samsung, and they have told me desktop browsing from the fascinate is not supported. Then they proceeded to tell me that Flash 10.3 is not supported by this phone. I was then instructed to revert back to 10.1. Now i have this whole chat saved, and would be willing to show it, but my anger got the best me. I look like a Giant D*CK. In all the trial and error i was able to do as a Fanny "noob", I have found out that No matter how hard i tried, with whatever browser i could download(other than skyfire), that you can not play full flash content from the original site. I have found that if you download the right hulu files, you can play most of the videos from typical t.v. sites.(example.. Fox.com, Nick.com, cartoon network...). I also found that you can play the full sites through skyfire. The videos were kinda grainy this way, and in a pinch it worked flawlessly. This phone has alot of nice features, but the guts of the internet experience were lackluster. It's weird where people make a line in the sand. This was mine. If you want to delete this entire thread, i would completely understand. If i am wrong about the flash content, sorry. I had a mod, and rescue squad member from another forum give it a go, and they couldn't either. Thanks to anyone who tried to help...

I have been trying for hours to watch videos on fox, espn, and others, and have had no luck. I have installed dolphin hd, set it to desktop, installed modded versions of flash, and still no luck, I have used the best of my google fu, and still can't find anything. The closest i have got is audio without the video. Is there some magic step that i am missing. I have just come from an incredible, and the fascinate is a whole other animal. I have had better luck with my nook color than i am having on this phone. Sorry if this has been answered 100 times, i just can't seem to find an answer. By the way I am on evil fascination 3.6 if that helps at all. Please, all i ask is an answer, can anyone explain why this is so hard for me?

Hmmm...If you're on Evil Fascination, it's kind of odd. My suggestion? Try the "UKB"/Community ROM. See if those issues persist. I've never had above mentioned issues, yet I tried Evil Fascination and had so many issues, it just wasn't worth it to me. Try a different ROM, see what that does.

If you are in the latest version of Dolphin HD, in order to get Flash to play videos, when you are in the browser, hit the menu soft key, go=>more=>settings=>page content settings=>enable plug-ins and choose either on demand or always (I prefer always)
I am downloading com rom now, tried other suggestions with no luck. i can get hulu to play through the widget, just not other sites in my browser. This is possible right?
Have tried suggestions, no luck. Can anyone tell me if this is even possible?
I don't know why you are having so much trouble with this. As long as you are on a Froyo build, have Flash Player 10.3 downloaded from the market, and have plug-ins enabled in your browser, it should work. It's a mystery to me.
So after staying up almost all night to solve this problem I still have no palyback of full episodes from sites like fox.com, and nick.com. I have uninstalled, and installed flash 10.3 from the market, and 3different modded apks. I have downloaded opera mobile, miren, and dolphin hd. I have altered the user agent in opera, clicked all appropriate boxes, and chosen desktop in both miren, and dolphin. I have changed to comrom 2.0 from EF 3.6. I know this sounds like a completely noob, but have had success rooting, and modding lots of androids, but this fanny's video situation has me confused. I try to figure stuff like this out on my own, but like landshark says in a post or two back, it should just work. I have not changed my string on standard browser yet, but I am not sure how to do it. Can somebody please throw this dog a bone?
I hate bumping this, but my window to take this phone back is almost over. If i can't play full episodes from my browser, i don't think this phone is for me. I am going to revert back to stock, restore to factory settings, and try one more time. I have come across a couple news articles that say that the samsung fascinate can't do all flash based content. Is this the problem? Does anyone on the fanny get full episodes in the browser. I can even get to hulu through dolphin, and watch the full episodes there, just not on the original site. The original site acts like it is going to play then stalls, sometimes crashing whatever browser i am using. I thought flashlights crashing this phone was weak, but if it can't do as much as an overpowered e reader, then how was this ever a flagship phone?
I don't know how dead set you are on using a custom, however I am running a rooted 2.2 fascinate with Opera Mobile, and I can play video from the sites you want with no problem.

It's not videos that is the problem. It's watching full episodes of TV shows that OP wants to watch. Apparently to the phone there is a difference.

Just FYI, using Skyfire doesn't mean your phone even supports flash. The way they do it is by transcoding the flash content to HTML5 and sending that to your phone, meaning you could watch flash videos even back on eclair.
jeremy check your PM at fascinateforums (if you haven't already). One of the members got fox.com working.

Dolphin Browser HD

Hi!
I've been using Dolphin Browser HD on my stock Froyo ROM for quite some time now, but I've come across some various bugs:
- Serious stability issues:
I would normally browse the web and then all of a sudden browser would hang (loading a page for a very long time) and then my whole tablet would slowly become unresponsive or just behave strange (apps gone missing, Launcher crashes, every app I would like to start would automatically FC,...).
After restarting the tablet everything would be back to normal.
- Some flash SWF content would show as binary code (CWS):
Example:
Original link: http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_gti9070_galaxy_s_advance_shows_up_in_photos_and_video-news-3737.php
Somethimes flash content is shown and sometimes it's not.
I even encountered a SINGLE HTML page that a part of page would show flash normally and other part would just show the CWS binary code.
On my Galaxy S phone on the same version of Dolphin Browser HD this page would show YouTube flash object normally.
I've searched thru Google and couldn't found a single result, therefore I have a hunch that nobody could help me with this issue but hey, it's worth a try.
How is the stability of Dolphin Browser HD in HoneyComb after 30 minutes of surfing the web (ViewComb, VegaComb, HoneyIce users are all welcome to post)?
Also how is that YouTube flash object shown on your tablet?
Thank you!
I also use Dolphin HD as my prefered browser.
I have use various versions of Stock, CM7, VegaComb, HoneyICS
I have had issues with Dolphin giving FC's, hanging etc... in all until now
Currently I am running ViewComb 3.2 Build 6.3
Dolphin Browser has been fine ever since I moved to this.
Haven't tried later builds yet.
I also like ViewComb because it is an nvflash install making it quick and simple to install.
I too had issues so I uninstalled it and got chrome which works great!
Hope this helped

But for Chrome to work you need ICS ROM.
The latest ICS ROM is still in beta / development stage.
Wasn't Dolphin the browser that routed all traffic through their servers? (and no not as a speedup service like Opera). It sounds like its time for a different browser with all those issues? Chrome of Firefox do the job nicely.
No, Dolphin Browser Mini routes all traffic thru their servers, this is Dolphin Browser we're talking about.
I since then changed to Firefox, all the crashes are gone and I just checked that gsmarena page I complained about in my first post and instead of binary code I get that the plugin for this content is missing.
I still like Dolphin's UI better, but I found a translated version of Firefox's apk file which is a nice bonus.
The way I see it Dolphin uses Android's internal WebKit which in my case is outdated and buggy and therefore causes system instability and crashes.
While on the other hand Firefox uses its own Gecko which is more mature (I use the latest version of Firefox).
I would also like to try Chrome, but that requires Android v4.0+.

can not link to embedded youtube videos

Hi, I have a problem opening embedded videos link to some websites, these videos are consist of several video file which are downloaded tv programs and are played one after the other automatically after a single click of the link... I am using android 4.0.3 and sense 3.6 custom rom (GSM).... I do not have this problem before when I am still using my GB 2.3.4 stock rom.
I am thinking maybe the custom rom missed some codecs or plug ins or anything I dont know....may be there are somebody out there who can help solved this problem.... I know there are a lot of very knowlegeable DEVS out there who can solve this..... without dropping a sweat...
If you might post a link to the videos it might be easier to figure out where the problem lies. I wouldn't expect codecs to be the issue with youtube/flash videos on the web. Have you tried using different browsers Stock/Dolphin for a start?
Thanks... actually after I posted I tried using the browser that comes with Mwakious ROM the open it and it works.... but trying it again on OPERA mini.... doesnt respond at all ...and google chrome which pop a "no plug in installed" message... so.... youre very very correct to have suggested a different browser... thank you again.

Different browers handle things differently, for example some stuff that does not display correctly in Dolphin, which I'm mostly using, display fine in Firefox.
Did it work fine in Opera before you switched ROMs? Or didn't you try to view them before?

I found a way to watch adobe flash on Nexus 10 without rooting

Not sure if this is old news or not...
1) Download & Install 'archived flash' from adobe site flash for android 4.x @ http://download.macromedia.com/pub/...roid/11.1.115.27/install_flash_player_ics.apk
(if not there search google for 'adobe archived flash player')
* Make sure you go into settings and put a checked box by unknown sources or it won't let you install it since the apk you just download is not from the google play. Afterward, you can go back and uncheck it for better security.
2) Install Dolphin for Pad v1.0 @ https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dolphin.browser.pad&hl=en
* After installation, go through the wizard and change the agent to Desktop (or change it later in Dolphin's Agent in settings)
It's been working on most flash site for me
I have flash on my dolphin browser, I installed same version of flash as you linked to and deleted some setting within the data folder of dolphin browser (I don't remember exactly where on XDA I found the post).
How does the dolphin for pad work compared to the normal dolphin browser? Is it betteR?

Not really. Dolphin for Pad hasn't been updated in months and user reviews reflect the lack of interest from the developer.
Thank you kindly my good friend I'm watching college ball right now

yes, it is better for me.
Latest regular dolphin has feature disable that will not work with flash.
You have to restore old dolphin version to get it working with flash. When I did that, it was superslow and stuttering almost unusable for me that I can't even watch some streaming sports channel on it so I gave up and tried others...and found this work smoother and faster for me despite others low review. As long as it works for my Nexus 10, I didn't care about the reviews. I don't need all the features other negative reviewers were asking.

I need to try this, have chrome, ocean and boat browser on mine, and ocean supposedly allows it but it freezes when I start a video, boat and chrome don't detect the flash I already have installed, so I'm gonna try this , hopefully I can get it going , specially since I just got my HDMI to micro HDMI cable to connect it to my HDTV .

I don't have this phone, still on the Note II, but you can try downloading it directly from Adobe (Flash Player Archives. Scroll down to the Android. Make sure you get the one for Android 4. I think it'll probably work.
Don't forget to use a flash player friendly browser such a Boat, Dolphin, or the crappy generic one (non Chrome) that Samsung throws in.

Yea, flashplayer for android was discontinued at 11.1 so we're stuck with what we've got. I concur with this recommendation for Dolphin browser and enable flash always on in the settings. Either way, don't expect it to work perfectly. For example, I can't get Amazon Prime videos to play no matter what flashplayer.apk I try or browser I use. It just doesn't work. I'd have to spoof my device identity somehow.

It's a bit of crap shoot on what sites will work and won't. What I find best, go into your browser settings, change how browser to act as desktop browser. You may need to change to something like IE, Firefox or so forth from Android (this defaults to mobile sites).
I don't recommond Flash always on. I suggest On-Demand if available. Some sites are very flash heavy and this will help load times and data usage. Plus, given how things can be, Flash isn't always stable on the mobile, so it helps with those.
I've run into odd issues such as Kompster. It overall fine for Sirius NFL through the webbrowser. It will work for Motogp video, but on the my tablet, but to mirror on a TV, I need to half screen first, then plug in the HDMI cable, otherwise it won't show the race and Flash Player crashes. NFL Game Pass service works for games, but the archived shows start and crap out after about thirty seconds. I find overall for sites that use it for navigation or downloading, it works fine.
As for browsers, I suggest Boat browser. I found if Dolphin is working, it works well with Flash Player. I couldn't get Dolphin to load on the Note 2. Also, there is some evidence that Dolphin stores browsing history; supposedly it to make web browsing faster. I also think Boat has a smaller footprint. Boat also has a tablet version that I've been able to able to download and load on the Note 2. Nice looking. It's in beta. I found that not everything works in that version as does the normal Boat browser.
