[Q] Downgrade from ICS build of samsung note to the stock version - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

Hi,
I'm a newbie w/ android and I made the mistake to upgrade to the ICS version of Samsung note i717. Unfortunately, my experience with it has been quite poor due to the severe lags and hangups.
However, I have been unable to go back to the stock AT&T or Samsung version that the phone came with. I didnt save a backup of the original version. Is there any way to fix this?
I tried installing a ROM that some one made of the AT&T version earlier, but the phone would not boot after that (It would get stuck in the SAMSUNG screen at boot) and I had to re-install ICS to unbrick the phone.
Any help in this matter would be appreciated.
Thanks

Search or at least look in the development section where there is the Odin to stock AT&T GB

Lack of Dev Support for SHW-M250x Series

This is yet again another "Lack of Support" finding for a SGS2 phone, particularly the Model Phones that belong to the SHW-M250x family. I have an SHW-M250K model from Olleh KT of Korea, and due to its coding, it creates a boot-loop when trying to root with an GT-I9100 secure rooting kernel. I have tried using Odin, polled cyanogene, CF-Root, SuperOneClick; the lot seems to deal with only the International Variety coded GT-I9100.
The main differences that i have found is the language support, length of SMS messages, the use of an external antenna for a built-in TV tuner, and NFC support in the battery when paired with a USIM containing an NFC Ident. So Samsung blew up the SE Asia model with some nice features but unfortunately, not with the rooters/devs in mind.
My question is, is anyone currently working on SHW-M250x family rootkit? I'm about to go the route of starting to load Zipped ROMs to the SD card, because from reading on here, it seems like you do not need to obtain root access to be able to flash a rom, provided it is done in 3e mode from your properly formatted SD card. But if there is a root available to SHW-M250x family users, i would definitely be delighted to know.
Thanks,
Gig
Samsung Galaxy S II - SHW-M250K (Olleh) - Android ICS 4.0.3
Now, i did take a look at this thread (before i get flamed)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1746794
But noted that again, it quoted use with the I9100 variety and even says with MOST ICS phones.
TBH, both phones look darn near the same and it is hard to tell the difference unless you pull out the antenna. I will give it a shot when i get off work. But I'm still worried about whether my USIM got fried or something. Phone has picked it up ONCE since i upgraded to ICS stock. I wasn't rooted before.
Thanks,
Gig

Looks like the root from CWM that you install on a SDCard worked. I will log any issues as i dink around with my phone.
I know one already, after rooting, ICS 4.0.3 Airplane Mode Quick Button when you hold down the power button is good for turning it on, not for turning it off.
More to come.

Ok so after rooting SHW-M250K, tried flashing kernel with Siyah and got stopped at the Flash Screen. So Siyah (for now) does not work as a kernel. So far, root proves possible with at least this model. More to come.

So after a lot of trying and failing i decided to go back to gingerbread...however i have been under the impression that no one cared enough about the Korean version to capture the Stock rom for GGB 2.3.6.
LEAVE IT TO THE RUSSIANS.
After tiring searching the googlenet, i found a site (in russian) that has the SHW-M250x family stock GGB roms.
I will not post the link yet, because i'm downloading the rom right now to try it out. Hopefully i do not have my hopes up for nothing.

note root problems 4.0

alright so after searching both here and various other sites on this question i have found nothing very helpfull...
so at the risk of being told i need to search i have to ask. I have a ATT Galaxy note I717. I did get the OTA update to 4.0. I have not yet rooted my phone but im trying to do so. Mostly so i can flash t-mobile onto it for it work properly with my 4G.
So my question is. Were is the root process for a note that already has 4.0.
I followed other instructions here http://www.androidauthority.com/galaxy-note-sgh-i717-att-clockworkmod-touch-recovery-90018/ and here http://rootgalaxynote.com/galaxy-note-root/how-to-root-galaxy-note-gt-n7000-method-2odinheimdall/.
After installing such CMW Touch i can not get it to boot to recovery. Just goes into download mode and as welll as i do not have superuser or root acces on the phone. If any one knows where i can find the procedure to gain full root access so i may start playing around that would be greatly appreciated

The second link you provided was for the International Note. That may be the problem. Use the method here: http://rootgalaxynote.com/galaxy-no...y-note-sgh-i717-icsgingerbreadeasiest-method/. I know for a fact this procedure works, as I have done it on my own Note no less than a dozen times due to the problem in my thread.
Good luck and happy rooting!

It says for ginger bread rooting. I am running 4.0 and do not wish to go back to 3. Will i keep my current 4.0 with that method or will it be flashed back to ICS
nvm do appologize,,, just caught my own noob mistake... lol
seeing that you have used this method before... when i go to flash the zip file it gives me an error and says it fails... yet i have super user and root acces on the phone now?
You don't have to root your phone to flash a modem. You don't need to have CWM to flash a modem either.
You can install the modem using Odin3 and your pc.
Agreed ....

[Q] Restore Samsung Exhibit II 4G to stock 2.3.6

I am looking for a way to restore the Samsung Exhibit II 4G to the stock 2.3.6 ROM. NOT 2.3.5. I have found a way to get 2.3.5 on and I did but did not find a way to upgrade to 2.3.6, as Samsung's Kies software said my phone was not support in Kies 2.0. I flashed Peach Sunrise on it and am using it now but for future reference or errors would like to find a way to go back to stock 2.3.6. Anybody know a way or have the stock 2.3.6 rom that I could flash?
I used this thread originally (before I installed Peach Sunrise) to get back to 2.3.5:
http://androidforums.com/exhibit-2-...bit-ii-4g-back-its-factory-out-box-state.html
I saw this thread post but I am not sure if it works, as it is from a different phone:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=28233487&highlight=2+3+6#post28233487
Any help would be appreciated!
have you looked in the wiki? Not sure how this differs from the other methods you tried, however this should get you back to stock. Even if it's just 2.3.5, you should be able to OTA update to 2.3.6. I've never done this myself, so I can't be 100% certain. Personally, I find CM10 to be much better for this phone.
If you still have issues, you could probably send a PM to jocala to ask for assistance. He did tons of work for this device, so if anyone can help, it's definitely him.
FYI: the Samsung Exhibit II 4G was later re-branded as the Samsung Galaxy Exhibit 4G. They are the exact same device. Look under your battery to find T-679 on the label, as this is the device which is referred to by both names. In Canada, this phone is also known as the Galaxy W 4G, which isn't to be confused with the I8150 which is also Galaxy W (very important not to confuse the two). All-in-all, as long as you're using a T-679, follow the instructions from the wiki.

Looking for stock Rom link.

Hey,
I'm attempting to help my cousin with his i9300 and the freeze at the samsung screen. We're attempting to restore back to stock rom as it seems to be the only recourse left but we've been unable to find the proper rom. Can anyone please tell me where to get the plain stock one? I've downloaded some "international" ones but when i try to upload it it keeps telling me failed, i've tried at least 4 or 5 different roms.
ANY help would be greatly appreciated!!
Phone is:
GT-i9300
using it in the US with StraightTalk in the US (been working like a charm for ~6 months, all of a suddent when into this weird limp mode)
Phone was running jellybean 4.1.1 (through kies) and not rooted
Well, the fastest way would be to use the search button.
Otherwise,
http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=3&model=GT-I9300&pcode=0&os=1&type=1#firmware
Flash using odin.

Reverting N7000 to original samsung firmware?

Over the past yeah I have flashed about 40/50 Roms onto my trusty original galaxy note. But now I have sold it, and there for i need it to be a actual samsung phone again. Now this part i have not tried yet, so I was hoping to hear from someone with experience in this area. Do I just go stop sammobile.com, get a ICS Rom and use Odin to flash it on there?
