Install supersu app if it is not installed. By the way what method you used? CFRoot method is already packed with clockworkmod, supersu.

You're supposed to backup EFS before you bork it. Once it's borked, you're boned. What you're trying to do now is futile.
You have two options; service center or contact Odia by PM (and wait patiently for a reply. If you harass him he'll probably/quite rightly ignore you) & he might be able to recover it for you for a small donation (cheaper than paying Samsung/authorised repairer to fix it).

Using sometime else's nv_data.bin file won't help you. That file contains unique information for your specific phone, including your IMEI number.
Hello, I think I made a mistake and I need your help.
I am using i9300 S3 from UK, but I live in Lithuania. I wanted to flash a rom, which friend gave me a link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2039995
I made a backup....then installed rom, but rom ididnt installed well, so o restored back. And then I see no signal and says me to put a SIM card, which is in the mobile. What to do? LATER I noticed, that the rom was for AT&T ( But I am using wrong phone right?
In info section is says: Unknow baseband
Please help me, cant call or text.

One restore your backed up EFS folder or try factory reset or flash stock rom ,
Fails then get a price from service centre to repair .
Or get your very stupid friend to pay .
No idea what phone you are using do you know .

Your only solution is to restore your EFS folder from the backup that you should have made at the start.

No ??? admittedly few in number have resolved EFS problem by factory restore or and flash stock rom .
As the OP has flashed firmware for another phone it could well be more than just EFS i am afraid .

I tried it before. The first thing I did was restore. But same **** = no connection
So there isn't any other way?
If you flashed a wrong firmware you may have messed up your partitions, hence why you have lost efs.....so if nothing works a flash with pit maybe necessary....but I strongly suggest trying all other fixes first.
i will try stock rom now. but maybe i have to format everything? so that new rom maybe fix it?
Hi,

username: test
password: srscom
and it worked like a charm for me.. managed to repair ma friends IMEI that way.. i got this test account in one of the samsung sites itself.. dunno where exactly unfortunately.. Search n u wil find many on google that help.. cant unlock but allows repair.. Be in ICS or below though.. or it wil ruin ur EFS more..
i searched for a week n discovered this account.
Try in HERE for another solution that may help.
Ther were certain users who can help u for a fee though..

Ya but only if u r unlucky with the login IDs... I fixed it without payin a penny.. Like i said, used those userID n password n it worked.. Besides, u get a lot o IDs if u search that have the required amount of points for the fixing.. :good:
The phone i restored was a product not from my country and so the service center also refused its fixing.. had to do it myself n with that useriD, voila..!

Hi,
I'm currently running omnirom 4.4.2 nightlies on my I9300.
I want to unlock SIM network without a code, because any code providing by MNO won't work.
Now, from what I understood, the only way to unlock SIM network by myself is to flashback from 4.4.2 to 4.1.1. Now as you may know, 4.1.1 modem expects an EFS v1, and starting from build xxemg4, modems expect EFS v2...
So I can always flash an xxemg4 modem once I flashed back to 4.1.1, but it won't help because this SIM unlocking method only works on an EFS v1...
So, for now my question is: How can I downgrade EFS v2 to EFS v1 if it's even possible?
I apologize if this question has already been asked an hundred times, I'm taking any other alternative solution to unlock SIM network if you have one!
Thanks in advance!
Only if you have a backup of your efs when it was v1, if already on v2 and no backup then there is no way to downgrade.

Unfortunatelly, I don't have any backup of my EFS v1... So I guess there is no other method to unlock the device than getting the right code?
I've heard it could be done through a wire using some software from a PC?
EFS V2 can read efs v1 .but if you want to unlock your phone it's another process

I'm not sure to understand... You mean that if I set the right permissions on EFS files before flashing back from 4.4.2 to let's say stock 4.1.1 (which includes a modem pre xxemg4), it somehow downgrades EFS v2 to v1?
If so, that would be amazing !

Hi,
did You unlock Your SGS3? I am trying but with no success. I have efs v2.
So it was originally on 4.3 and i was told to downgrade to 4.1.1 to unlock it so i did..
I ran the GalaxSim Unlock app to unlock it but its saying invalid IMEI now :/
I dont have a backup of anything what can I do to unlock it..
Thanks.
You should to install 4.4 version to unlock it. It is the latest version.
How would i do that?

4.4 won't help anyone, you can't downgrade to 4.1 without an efs backup to restore. Pay for a code.

Well I know the imei number its supposed to be (on the box)
anyway I can restore that?
Usually when the imei is invalid it means you have damaged the /efs folder, the only way to repair this is by restoring a backup.
However first try flashing a stock rom again, just to be sure, if it's still invalid then the problem is definitly the /efs folder. Because the /efs is specific to each individual phone there isn't much we can do. Moral of the story is to make sure you make a /efs backup. The app you used should have a tool to backup the /efs folder, and this should have been done before trying to write to it.
I did copy the efs folder to my sd card before doing anytjing with it...
But copying it back just made it have yellow text on the homescreen...
I tried reflashing back to 4.3 but no solution...
EDIT:

No, the phone is rooted and has a custom recovery.
I want to SIM-Unlock it so I can use any networks sim on it.
The easiest and safest way is to contact the carrier whom the phone is locked to and ask for an unlock code, they should give you it, but might charge (I'm not sure how much.)
Try to do the nv_data.bin method.
You won't find the md5 value in the log (Samsung patched that a while ago), instead, run this on a Linux machine (or in the Android terminal):
(cat nv_data.bin; echo -n Samsung_Android_RIL) | md5sum

Samsung updated the efs in one of the 4.3 roms and above. Your 4.1 rom doesn't recognise it as the 4.1 rom cannot read a V2 efs and since you started out with a v2 efs you cannot do anything with Rom versions below 4.3.
Restore your original rom or install a custom 4.4 rom regain your imei and either pay for a code or contact your carrier. This app is useless in your case..

I actually went into my local town, went into one of those "phone unlocking/repair" shops and paid £15 to get it done. Was done in 30minutes and works beautifully.
