Quick question, sorry if its been addressed. I was one of the lucky ones who's Prime got bricked after the firmware update last week. I got it to work again and decided not to install the problematic update.
My question is, can you update to ICS over the air without having that previous firmware update installed or do I have to manually install ICS?
why i cant update my phoone?
You're gonna have to be more specific. How do you even know that the rooting is the problem?
Tell us how you tried to update, what kind of error message you got etc.
First i flash my phone to 0.42 to root, and it went successfully. After that, i try to update to 0.62. when the update process finished then my phone reboot ...and the notification message said that *update could not install try update software again*
** i update via OTA
You used files from this tutorial: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1468866 ?
Just seen Reck1993 post, yesterday I too rooted my Neo (MT15i) following the instructions from the tutorial and I too with .62 do not have ota update available.
Though I'm not too bothered as I realize there will be no more up dates to GB from Sony and it will probably months before ics comes to the uk for for the neo and reading some of the comments in this forum with the .562 nordic it's probably not worth it.
Oh this problem is there because you deleted some system apps.
Flash back to .42 again, and then root, now do OTA update to .62
for me thanks, but as I said I'm not too bothered, there'll be no GB updates from sony, and ICS is wishful thinking, I'll stick with it as it is.
Okay so I got my Prime on Friday, I have rooted and unlocked it and then updated to the .21 version. But then I noticed another OTA, which I installed, bricking my prime in the 1a manner from the unbricking thread.
So I fixed that luckily and when I finally got back into android I am now on version .14? How did that happen?
I was having problems with the OTA update for jelly bean where I kept getting the android bot with the exclamation mark. So when I started looking for reasons while I why I couldn't, when I looked at the firmware version mine started with WW. I thought that was the problem because I bought my Prime in the US where I live. After I found the US firmware for .28 I found the one for .21 as well. I had used the downgrade tool before because I downgraded my Prime to root it and I was able OTA update from .21 to .28 with no problem. But with not being able to update OTA to jelly bean I downgraded to the US .21, once I had it on loaded I am unable to update the Prime from .21 to .28. Have I downgraded to the wrong version and if so how do i fix this?
