I would like to ask to all kind users out there (specially people with dev rarzs) if you could send me the Block 18 file of yours.
its located on /dev/block/mmcblk1p18
please send it to me, and post your Carrier/ROM/Location http://min.us/cbkR8aZbFP (feel free to upload to this folder)
it doesn't contain any personal info, only carrier/location specific signatures.
They will be useful for many things, for example: downgrading, signature bypassing, kernel flashing, etc...
I really appreciate your help.
Thanks,
Igor
I tried already downgrading with this p18 trick and I failed. Downgrading from the new leak isn't possible so far because the CID partition is not the problem. So better don't try that anyway otherwise you will loose root (if you are running the new leak). I also tried antoher methods and nothing worked. The problem are the signed partitions and they can't be bypassed with the p18 file. Also the older kernels can't be flashed using this method, already tried. The only one we could try is the old kernel from the first 4.0.3 leak, maybe this one can be flashed over the new kernel, if so we can root the new leak. But downgrading won't be possible. The best way is to wait until the new fastboot files will be released.
I've just downgraded from China ICS to German T-Mobile 2.3.6 using a modified p18 file
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=26054625&postcount=11 just look at the kernel!
Downgrade from ICS China is possible but not possible from ICS T-mobile leak. I've been there and I ended without root. No root = PITA

Ehmm, from the chinese leak to the german leak is not a downgrade... it's an update. And so far there is no way to downgrade from that..
actually not, i went from bootloader 0.73 back to 0.6!

Its possible to downgrade the bootloader, I also did, but you cannot downgrade to any other rom now because of the signed partitions. Believe me, I tried a lot, no way! We have to wait until the fastboot files will be released..

Can anyone provide instructions or let me know if it is possible to downgrade from rooted ICS back to HC?
I am having some issues with apps I use regularly that are supposed to be ICS compatible but aren't working very well after the update.
Thanks
not possible
I have always heard this is impossible.
Your best bet is to contact the app developers.
Perhaps you can..using rescue-backdoor and changing your region to one where ics isn't been released yet (Europe)..but before doing that I think you should wait for condi's reply..

Well as far as I have seen after changing to ics u cannot change the region back coz it will brick ur tablet and this has been faced by many people here in this forum aftter they have changed the region after they have upgraadded to ics
So, the AiO tool isn't compatible with ICS yet.. you have to wait for an update

You can downgrade it. With custom ICS rescue-backdoor is already included.
Just boot into recovery and use correct 3.2.1 stock firmware.
Then you can root it again (of course if its not 'kernel #10' fw).

ps. i've made few downgrades already
Hello,
I finally rooted my Razr to the Retail.EU EMEA software.
the system version is 651.167.19.XT910.Retail.en.EU Android version 2.3.6.
However, I was newbie and i thought that i need to root my phone first then use RSD Lite to flahs another ROM.
So i rooted using MOTOFAIL.
I then installed safestrap and did a backup. After that, i installed the desired software(in my case the EMEA retail) using RSD lite.
But after that i noticed that my phone is unrooted so i uninstalled safestral and deleted the backup.
Did i do a big mistake by deleting the BACKUP ? i mean mine is working perfectly but i think i will need to restore my phone to the original ROM that came preinstalled with the phone in order to install Official Updates ?
i installed the ROM that is provided in this website in this link : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1362956
I also see that others have version 167.26 ? why i have 167.19 ? i mean i check updates but its says that my phone is up to date.
Please help !
Thanks.
PS: When i did all these steps, nothing has been deleted at all. Everything still exactly the same(except when i check the phone version and there is no more arabic language in the keyboard). I mean shouldnt it erase all the data ? what did i do wrong ?
You will get an Update via Motocast to .21 from. 19
.26 has an asian Baseband, i had an bad Phonequality on this.
And don't use Safestrap on GSM RazR. You need Bootstrap!!!
Gesendet von meinem XT910
I am not using bootstrap or safestrap. I deleted safestrap thinking that its useless for me since i wont be using that ROM again.
But my questions, did i do anything wrong ? will still get ICS upgrade ? And is my phone covered under warranty ?
I flashed ROM using RSD Lite so they said that it will UNROOT my phone so is that enough ?
Thanks !
PS: Yes, thanks i got the update using MotoCast. But why i cant update through the phones system update ?
You got the Update to. 21 so you will get the ICS, too
You can Root your Device with Motofail and save Root with Rootkeeper (Play Store). Just unroot temp. before you Update to ICS and you will be fine.
Why it's only over Motocast you have to ask Moto

Thank you but why i didnt lose any data ? i mean it should erase everythihng... right ?
also i see others using the recovery and wiping cashe and other stuff ... is it the same as using RSD lite ?
I really want to game serious on my 80 g9.
It seems that under ICS this isn't possible yet.
I would therefore like to go back to the latest honeycomb. I tried the archos way like stated on the website but that doesn't work. I get a boot loop.
Is there a way to do this? I don't mind formatting.
Thx
EJ
Working way:
1. Fladh ICS test firmware (download links in forums, just search)
2. Boot to recovery and Reset Android (Honeycomb will not boot if ICS system data is present)
3. Flash 3.2.80 (download on Archos website)
Note- you can't rename .aos otherwise device won't flash it
Sent from my Archos Gen9 101
Quick question can you flash under 3.2.80? Like 3.2.69 for instance? I would try but I don't want to risk losing everything if it won't work.

Do you mean the latest Test Firmware in this thread?
Does test firmware contain some files that allows us to downgrade where final firmware disallows this?

This should work but I can't say for ceratin. However if you downgrade you must erase all data (Reset Android), Honeycomb will never boot with ICS data.

I think that rather test build has some specific version number/description so flashing anything else is possible. "Official" firmware prevents any downgrading (error occurs)

Thanks for the explanation.
So to successfully downgrade we must use a test firmware based on the build (or later) that we currently have installed.
Well then where would be "downgrade"?
If you really need to downgrade your tablet, you have to format the flash (erase ics data).

I didn't check if latest test firmware is required (but latest one is more likely to be present on Archos server)

Update:
This fastboot image contains an upgraded "Secure Version".
Secure Version is 3, same like any other ICS leaks. Which mean you can't downgrade back to GB.
Customer id is 4 (China / India / Japan)

There is no method to root it. Only if you upgrading from 2.3.6 to 4.0.4 by OTA Root Keeper. This is SBF so if you flash it you'll lose ROOT.

Could you please upload it to mediafire or dropbox? That 115.com download speed is killin' me!
I'm just a consumer, I usually don't upload things.
Why would you want to install this?
Do you have a chinese version xt910? If no, better don't mess with it.
In fact I have LATAM RAZR but my current ROM is previous Chinese ICS leak which version is 6.7.2_GC-120-175; I've flashed it with mmcblk replacement - and that's why I'm asking someone to share. I know what I gonna mess with. Moreover, there would be guys who will try it sooner or later for sure, so the earlier we share it the faster we get some feedback.
宜しくお願い致します。

Again, this fastboot upgrade your cdt main secure version to 3.
Previous chinese leak was 2. That's why you can revert back to GB.
While i'm not an expert, i guess it will be hard to go back to LATAM after flashing this.
You know your phone better..
Well this is interesting

What I know works is fastbooting a 4.0.3 boot.img, booting into BP Tools from the boot menu, rooting there, then fastbooting back to 4.0.4 boot.img. There isn't a 4.0.4 root method at this time other than this. So find a 4.0.3 FB file and use that boot.img.
Isn't that's how older leak rooting method works?

Unfortunately, there's no macthing 403 kernel with secure version 3 & cid 4 / 7.
You guys that have xt912 just lucky, because you have a 403 kernel leak (secure version 3 cid 2 too be specific).
2whirleyes: Again, no need to tell me that. Let me suppose you think I don't know about problems with downgrading? You're wrong if you think so. OK keep it but don't "warn" me once again, please.
Am I the only one who wouldn't go back to so-called "stable" GB after flashing ICS leak? Previous Chenese leak I currently running on my device is MUCH BETTER than any GB I've ever had. And after all, 2.3.6 upgrades for LATAM RAZRs were rolled out about a month ago - after all other regions. Who wants to wait till August - rise you hand up high, please.

i'm waiting for this root too ><
I'm stuck on the current 532 Chinese version and it's not letting me upgrade or downgrade.
Been over 6 hours flashing and flashing and I'm having problems with the HK/Asian versions of the stock rom.
Since downgrading from 4.3 to 4.2 my sim no longer works regardless. I'm not getting any signal regardless of what I do.
I bought my Xperia Z Ultra from UAE and would preferably want to use a UAE/Middle Eastern Rom.
Previously I had the FTF file for the Middle East and it worked wonders for me. Unfortunately I've removed and can no longer find it.
Should anyone be kind enough to upload the FTF file or even guide me to a working link I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks in advance.

Oh, it looks like you've lost your IMEI, and that's why you're not getting a signal. This happens when you downgrade from 4.3 to 4.2. I have no idea why it happens, but it does, so follow this guide to restore your IMEI.
the problem may appear in some models. I downgraded mine from 4.3 to 4.2 without such problem.
p.s you can flash any firmware to your phone, no need to be in UAE. I live in Vietnam and I flashed European 4.3 on mine.

True, however, I had issues with the HK edition of the rom. It had some corruption or file missing since it would't allow me to properly root and when trying to boot in CWM it would't work.

Correct, my imei was 000000000000000. I will refer to the link you provided. Thanks.
I've successfully UPGRADED to 532 Middle East version.
Thanks to everyone for their support and response.
Unfortunately I'm not that technical with regards to flashing and such and usually I spend hours if not a whole day trying to solve a simple issue.
Usually when attempting downgrading, flashing and changing roms and using custom firmware I get stuck half way through.
This ends up with a half working phone, boot loops, etc...
This happened when trying to get the 290 firmware, rooted with root. The part with regards to using a dual recovery was not too clear and this resulted in a bricked device.
I'm now back to stock 532, rooted & happy. To be honest, I didn't see any big differences with 532 and 290.
I cannot live without root. My bootloader is locked and unlocking it is a pain in the ass, lol.
I will patiently wait for the proper update of Android 4.4 Kitkat until I decide on upgrading.
I can only hope there is an easy rooting method of 4.4 when it's released. I don't plan on backing up data, reinstalling everything again, etc...
Let's hope when 4.4 Kitkat is released there is an easy rooting method which doesn't require an unlocked bootloader.
