I just got offered a HTC rezound and a ps3 with mw3 that has the elite subscription, and I was wondering how good this deal is? how's the battery life and the roms? Ics? Do I have to have a-off for rooms cause I don't wanna do that wire trick..
I have the nexus and my dad has the rezound. I honestly wouldn't switch. The battery life is definitely better on the nexus especially in standby. The rezound seems to drain even when your not doing anything. It also looks like the rezound isn't getting aosp anytime soon. Both are nice phones but the nexus is truely in a whole different league especially if your into flashing roms. Also the TI omap > snapdragon s3 in both speed and for how easy it is to develop. The OMAP is probably one of the most open chips there is.
I recommend flashing winner00's cm9 kang nightly with franco's kernel if you haven't already. By far my favorite rom and much better than vanilla cm9 in my opinion. Better stability and speed.
The wire trick for the rezound isn't bad though. I got it second try on my dads rezound.

I have both phones. The battery life is the exact same for me on both phones. You don't have to s-off to flash roms for the Rez. It's more of a matter of taste. If you like stock aosp, keep the nex. If you don't mind sense, it's a good deal that you've been offered. The Rezound is the better device overall, though.
Wait, you get a rezound and a ps3 for your Gnex? I'd definitely jump on that deal. In fact, I'd probably trade a Gnex for a rezound period. It's a great phone, and AOKP is coming soon that will open up other AOSP based roms. And until then, the Sense 4 roms are really good, and if you really dislike Sense there are some senseless options. I never really like the Gnex, besides the variety of roms they have. Battery life is not great, but comparable to the Gnex. Getting better with each new ICS leak. Heat can also be an issue, but I'm not experiencing any trouble on the new leak.
And you'll probably want to get S-off. Not necessary, but it's very helpful. The wire trick is not difficult at all, and I don't think anyone who has done it (and LOTS of people have) has bricked their phone.

To answer your question that's a good offer... Nexus is better for development obviously, but the rezound is getting there and is better in pretty much every other way. My battery life on mine is much better than on my friends nexus... And here in my house I have almost full 4G where as he only has 3G... His bad. He also complains that he can't turn his brightness low to save battery because his screen looks like total crap when it does. And he's right. His camera doesn't hold a candle to this one either. I spent an hour taking pictures with both of them because I was bored the other day..Yea... the camera on it is a joke if you want a descent picture. Seriously cameras on my old HTC phones produce a better picture... Oh also, data over phone calls.. I can do it. He can't. But Idk if the nexus can actually do that or not. His signal was kind of weak here in some places of the house.
In the end its your choice...

It may not have the best battery, but I'd flash the new Team Pokemon rom when they update it tonight. Kernel is included, and there really aren't any other options for Sense 4, besides maybe Sebastian's.
I'd RUU to the latest leak for better performance / battery. If you already have 3.14 you're already there though
I traded my Rezound for a Nexus and a few weeks later traded back to a Rezound. I just love the phone. The radios and data speed I had on the nexus were horrendous.

Unless you're having issues for some reason, I'd definitely stay on it. It's by far the best ICS leak. I'm having much cooler temperatures and better battery life than on all previous updates, including the GB ota

i think if you were to ask this question in the gnex forum you'd get a totally different answer, of course.
personally i'm moving in the opposite direction. i want a development friendly phone, and i'm not on the go nearly enough for the other concerns to be a big deal.

if his screen is bad when turned down, then it's defective and should be returned.
also, when you have 4g, having bars has nothing to do with your 4g signal. the rezound does have a more solid radio, but if he had 3g and you had 4g, you probably had a weakish 4g signal. the signal bars are for 3g whether you're in 4g mode or not. it's a bit of misdirection, really.

Cause TW is garbage. Plus Sammy = slower than balls w/ updates. To me the S4/Adreno 225 isn't that huge of a boost to warrant being stuck on a carrier controlled device. Yeah they say it does better in benches but I could care less. Tried my friends AT&t OneX and it was laggy to the max.
Really hate to see you leave, as i currently use your ROM, and its amazing. I have had this phone for only 3months, and was looking like there was hope for good developers on it, and now everyone's bailing out for the S3/Nexus. :-( guess I need to buckle down and learn to create ROMs myself.

Whats good enough for you is not for me. My brother has a nexus since day 1, the camera is essentially unusable, especially under low light conditions. Its not even considerable for taking any kind of pictures worth saving. The rezound camera is top tier in comparison. And i snap a ton of pics. If this werent the case, im sure i'd be very pleased with the nexus, but the camera is a deal breaker.

Another Nexus vs Rezound thread go!
I just think its funny, the power of marketing can pull people off a superior phone in terms of hardware just by hyping up an inferior phone and allowing more wide open software development. .........but when we get source what will be the difference? I dunno guys, I'm pretty happy with this phone and I really don't like these goodbye forums. It gives the illusion that something is wrong with the rezound and further perpetuates the hype and needs to stop.

Don't think they're implying there's anything wrong with the phone. But everyone knows there's something wrong w/ the Rezound's community/forums. That + dying development is imo pretty legit reasons for wanting to change phones. Hard to pass up the Jelly Bean!.

There is something wrong with the rezound, the community for it is dead and it doesnt look good at all for the future of the phone. Most people who are on XDA want to own a phone with a strong community, Rezound is furthest from it. I am waiting for the Note 2 and im done with the rezound at that point.
Thanks for the heads up. You've contributed a lot to the Rezound community.

Most of the samsung roms are buggy, except for the stock based one, unless it's a nexus. So not much to switch to when we have so many stock based roms here and a few aosp ones to come once a kernel is finalized, which should be soon.

The sensation has a smoother more stable AOKP port than the GS2 from tmo does, how's that for convincing ya to stay? Plus AOSP isn't for everyone so I wouldn't really recommend it unless you like raw vanilla android, which doesn't offer much eye candy the way sense and all these pretty UI's do, lol.
Once that current kozmik kernel is fully stable with the wifi issue, you'll be loving your amaze, lots of battery tweaks and the likes to come, .

i was tired of the lack of htc support for the amaze, it is a good phone for noobs but not for me, also just listed it on cl for sale and get me a sensation, that was a fun device to have

Yea this may be a discussion for another thread entirely. I personally wasn't all that impressed with my one and only samsung device to date which was the GNexus. I've enjoyed my Droid X, Razr, Thunderbolt, and DNA way more then I liked it. After having my DNA I really don't mind missing out on the S4. Doesn't seem like it can offer much more then a little faster hardware. Which I feel like the DNA is pretty darn quick to begin with.
I really hope that HTC isn't on the spiral down. I though the Thunderbolt and DNA had pretty great build quality and it looked like it was on the up and up with the One. We had a pretty large discussion on why they're going the way they are and we kinda felt like it is from them screwing things up with Google and the whole Nexus line, turning their back on the modding community, and poor marketing.

Well, that was depressing. The good news is that we will probably get a way better phone than the one seeing as the butterfly 2 is keeping its 5" display and probably Snapdragon 800 in that bad boy. That being said, even though the announcement was a let down, I'm kind of excited seeing as the buttefly 2 isn't restricted to keeping the same specs as the one. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

they didnt announce any phones at CTIA. it was all a marketting plan or whatever u wanna call it. the Butterfly 2 is already in production and some stuff was leaked about how its in the works. Since the the first Butterfly was the DNA counterpart, that means the the Butterfly 2 thats suppose to be out in third qtr might show up a month after the butterfly 2 release. just google butterfly 2 and you'll see alot of posts about the leaks and rumors.
Played with a brand new s4 today my friend paid $742 for and its felt just like an s3. Dna is much better!

By now I'm sure you've all seen that the HTC ONE is going to be sold on the google store starting next month. Apparently its going to run a stock google experience. Since m7 was able to be ported with little effort (or what at least seemed like little effort), will 4.2.2 be able to be ported over that easily as well? Now before you all jump down my throat yes I'm fully aware of the version that currently exists how ever there are still flaws with that rom (my hats off to those dev's regardless because there works is amazing). Also does anyone think there will be any benefit (other than future updates) that googles 4.2.2 will offer over what our devs have cook up?
Was going to ask the same thing. I hope this helps with great AOSP roms for the dna.

my first instinct is that yes this will benefit our roms seeing as much of the stuff that brought functionality to our current aosp builds was aided by the htc one devs(camera comes to mind)... hopefully alot of stuff can be pulled.. if not much at all, it will still offer some benefit.

Absolutely not. Screen is to big. 5 inch is pushing it to me. The gnex and s3 had perfect size screens.

I agree. For one, we'll never see this phone on Verizon. AOSP gets boing after a while as well.

Rumor has it HTC will be giving early adopters of the One the option to run a Sensless stock vanilla ROM. So, if they do that, they would have to make it a downloadable file which may make it that much easier for the developers.

I really hope the DNA benefits from HTC One's Google Experience.
I really don't want to jump to ATT Wireless to have my AOSP and up to date phones.

Two years ago they said the same about 4.3 inches. Bigger screens will sell. Verizon wants to sell. The math is simple. The new note is supposed to be around that area. Note 2 sells very well. Most people like bigger screens myself included.

Yea imho the 5 inch is perfect for a big phone, noticibly bigger than the HTC one. 4.3 is great for useres who prefer one a little more compact. My gnex is a great device, the rezound would have been if not for its thickness. If I want a phablet like the note 2 I see no problem with 6+in displays and will be getting HTCs new throw in the phablet market.

Sorry but anything bigger than 5 inches is ridiculous. Pretty soon this will be what we will all look like.

I used to say my rezound screen at 4.3 inches was plenty big enough. But being used to the DNA, everynight when I get on my rezound to work on testing and scripts and such, I wish it had a bigger screen. What I'm really looking forward too though, is a bigger tablet. I'd love an 18 inch tablet that's thin and lightweight, and powered like the 383 stroker motor I built for my S-10.

Well guys, I've been a fan of the EVO LTE since the customs preorder debacle. There have been quite a few hiccups, 3 dot menu, multi-tasking, frapple, but they have all been ironed out to make this phone one of the best on the market.
Having said all of that, I am looking towards the future. Say early 2014; what are some upcoming phones you believe will be successor to the EVO LTE? If not another HTC then what if anything do u have your eye on?
I am just curious to see what the future may hold. Have dreams of octo-cores and 8gb ram that could rival a gaming rig nowadays, lol.
Was waiting on windows phone but the ones sprint getting are wack. Checking fot the optimus g pro or g2 and this t6/htc one max phone
I have my upgrade in March 2014. I've been an evo nut since the OG but I'm anxious to see what will be available at that time. Samsung devices are much easier to root and I imagine there are more custom ROMs available due to their popularity.
Sent from my EVO using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
@atheistevofreak you would think so with 40 million+ sales but if you check out the sprint s3 section they have as much to choose from as we do.
I upgrade in october but im probably gonna be holding out for the One Max hopefully for a deal on black friday. The Ultra Z is what i had my eye on especially with them saying theyre going to be on top of updates now and always dropping aosp builds for their devices but a 3000mah battery with that processor and display amongst other things aint cuttin it. The nexus 5 by lg based loosely off the g2 sounds nice even tho i want a bigger screen but i doubt its coming to sprint. The note 3 sounds nice also but i hate their current design and even more than that i hate how touchwiz looks which is a shame because the multi screen and other features are great. The Honami is too small for me but its camera is off the chain. I have no interest in the g2 even tho its not a bad device, just nothing special. And i have absolutely no interest in the moto x.
I am honestly, completely torn on this. Android has really left that newly-wed stage that was very exciting. I love what android has become but the aftermarket development has grown stale. It seems every rom is the same except for the boot animations and carrier banner. Aosp roms have all become CM/AOKP/PA omelets. And except for Venom and its tweak settings, Sense Roms are all Identical. Back in the Hero days, Roms were modded for performance and devs also put some creative, cosmetic changes, fully themed, new icons, different animations, and all custom notification bar icons. It seems like everyone is out to get there name in the books like they are earning money from this. Just relabeling some one else's work and calling it their rom.
I think this just might be my last Android Device. Not sure how Windows Phone and I will get along... Hopefully it works out...

The 1020 is a great phone.
As smooth as the os is, i dont like it.
To each their own though.
My buddy loves his lumia.
While they might have the same selection of roms as us, they definitely have a bigger user base
