Help me kill it... - HTC EVO 3D

Hello fellow xda members, today I'm asking a very odd question of you all to answer.
I want you guys to help me fully brick my phone, 100%, no going back. Is it as simple as flashing gsm files? Let me know, and thank you in advance.
Sent from my PG86100 using xda premium

WHAT?
This one must belong to your ex girlfriend? Just install roms that aren't for that phone, or run a restore from root on it, for example if you have a evo, run the PC861MG on the boot loader after you download it of course.
They have a PC&*^MG for every phone to run in the bootloader, just place the wrong one on the SD CARD power off into recovery and let it run, that should do it

Let us know if it worked!

Ok this might be a first

I imagine you have the VM firmware and are tired of dealing with it too. I was on the VM firmware and in my attempt to fix it I completely borked the radio somehow. I had no connection so the VM banner would not show. I took it to the store and they gave me a new phone. Good luck.

I have a definite answer
Put the PC861MP on your sd card, boot into boot loader, while it's running, pull the battery. GAME OVER.

as long as he does it via hoot flash she won't know how to fix it.

I don't want sprint techs to be able to fix it either. Just a fyi.

i am on og evo owner and pop'd in here and saw this haha but if it has the same effect it has on the evo this should work.
just download a radio update pg86100.zip and while its flashing pull out the battery and that thing will be 100% no going back toast. hope this helps haha
1st "help me brick" thread i have ever seen haha XD

If it's s-off you can do this(will work for s-on too but may be fixable with the downgrades here):
Get the attachment
Bot in fastboot and run the following command
Code:
fastboot flash spcustom /path/to/attached/file
Reboot
That will do it i did it to my phone and bricked it solid, i have tried 1000 ways to fix it.

From he who must not be named
fastboot erase radio
fastboot erase rc_data
and f-it
fastboot erase system
fastboot erase boot
fastboot erase data
= no boot

on Thursday I did sumthing to my phone and broke the radios... It still booted fine and was usable for everything but calls/texts as it didn't have a working radio. Took it to sprint they had no idea what was wrong and ordered me a whole new one

This is awesome, I love the support here at xda. Break it or fix it there's always someone out there to help. Thank you guys, I can hardly choose now, lol.
I'll try them all, least to greatest!

Hey Phxkin, thanks for the info!! Do you have to unroot before you do this, or will this even kill the techs from getting to the bootloader screen?

This... is very interesting...

It will completely kill the phone. No button combination will do anything. It won't respond when plugged into charger and won't turn on at all. Pulling the battery during a radio update is a guarantee 100% brick of no return

Just flash a radio image from a different device or flash a GSM radio.

BTW, how big are the backups for the amaze? i know my previous device (which had vanilla android) made backups in the 600mb range... so im thinking that a phone with sense will make bigger backups, correct?

[Q] My Rezound shuts down when I try to dial a number

I just upgraded my rezound to ICS.
I'm a gsm user so I want to change the network from cmda to gsm.
But my rezound shuts down when I try to type *#*#4636#*#* on phone dial.
Tried 3 different ROMs(RezROM S4 v2.4, CleanROM 4.5 Standard, RezROM EX v3.4), all came up with same result.
You have to use Venusaur ROM I think.

im getting the same issue. i got the phone in the mail today. popped my sim in and did the *#*#4636#*#* and was able to set the phone up to use the simcard for phone calls. after much cussing and sore eyes and the help of a few people on the internet, i have a s-off device and am running VENASAUR with sense 4.0......
im having the same reboot problem here. weather the phone is in airplane mode or not, it will reboot as soon as i predd a number or *#......

Both RezROM Ex and CleanROM have Tweaks to change preferred network instantly. But still....I can't dial a damn number which means I can't even make a simple phone call.
upon more thinking of WTF i did today, my issue may have something to do with the way i had things happen today. after i got stuck on teh hTc screen for 20+ minutes, i found a stock rooted rom that i was able to install. after i re-did the stuff i needed to do in the first place, i got it to boot on VENASAUR but im getting the same boot looping issues. like its got internal conflicts or something. now, if i RUU back to 2.3.4, seeing as how im S-OFF, will it cause issues and will i have to relock and then subsequently re-unlock the bootloader? what about the S-OFF? if the answer is yes that i need to bust out the WIRE TRICK?
What firmware are you on? It sounds like you're running a ics rom on gb firmware.
All ics. Found a RUU, but IT FAILED before I had s-off. I realized it FAILED because I WAS TRYING TO GO BACKWARDS. Now that I have S-OFF, I should be good to GO on a RUU. I'm at work and can't really mess with it might now. Now, if I RUU back to 2.3.4, will I lose s-off and whatnot or will I be good to GO?

Basically, you would need to flash the ruu. Let's see... ah! I have one
RUU4.03.605.2
This ruu will need to be renamed PH98IMG.zip and placed on the root of your sd card.
CAUTION!!!! Flashing the ruu will wipe your internal memory so back up your stuff! It wall also remove your custom recovery and you will no longer have root access. However, you will still be S-OFF (if you are S-OFF).
If you are not S-OFF and are just using an unlocked bootloader, then you will need to relock your bootloader before flashing the ruu.
You need to gather up the latest Amon Ra, which I also happen to have: RaRecovery3.15.zip
If you are S-off you can fastboot flash recovery RaRecovery3.15.img After your RUU stuff is done. If not S-OFF, you will do the same with it and rename it to PH98IMG and place on the root of your sd card but only after the ruu flashing process!
Afer all preparations have been made, you flash the RUU in Hboot. It is very critical that you have the phone charged up enough to do this. Anything you do in hboot runs the risk of bricking so make sure you do enough research before you attempt it. ONLY YOU are responsible for any damages done to your phone. The RUU will flash the latest Global build along with the latest radio and kernel. Ask around if you get lost, everyone is willing to help.

I think we're gonna have to add a new categories to the Rezound collection with all these damn threads
Rezound General
Rezound Q&A
Rezound Accessories
Rezound Android Development
Rezound Neo's ROM Development
Rezound Themes and Apps
To All
I understand the launcher can be frustrating. Especially how it appears when you first boot up. Take some time to explore it and set it up. it supports pinch zoom also. You can always go to the market and redownload the launcher of your choice.
There is no boot animation, so your first boot will hang on the splash screen for a couple minutes so don't be alarmed.
When you first boot into the rom, nothing activates. So you will need to turn on Mobile networks yourself under quick settings (this is a 1 time thing).
I wanted to leave this rom a a mystery for today and then update the op tomorrow but I felt at least these few things needed to be addressed so you guys wouldn't think you had a dud or bricked your phones
Enjoy. Probably the best battery life you'll get until the new sourced kernel is built for AOSP.

Is the backup folder on the SD card still there?
Read, Search, Read again, ... Then Ask with Tapatalk 2
First of all your getting that error because your choosing restore backup and there is not a clockwork folder on your sd card. Choose create backup and 4ext will create the folder and make a backup.
Wrong! I am using 4EXT for backups and recoveries have been for months if you read my post. Secondly I only mentioned clockwork to let you know that I wasn't fully familiar with 4EXT and I would need some guidance. So thank you for your input but it was not helpful.

You don't have to remove it. You just overwrite the old with the new. The easiest way is by using the 4ext app if you are using a rooted ROM.

That's because being helpful requires patience. If "help" came with an abrasive expectation of a submissive and kind and calm person asking for help, a LOT of xda folks in a tough spot would never get helped.
Sure, in general, if someone is reaching out to you, you should be thankful and nice, but not everyone is. I've probably helped thousands of people on xda, and the attitude of mike1114 (while not stellar) is FAR better than some I've seen.
How about we all just help if we feel like it, and not if we don't, and if you're a spectator, there's NO reason to give hi-5 posts to guys who help, while calling the one asking for help a jerk. Do that, and now you're the jerk.
Carry on.
not so stellar response myself

OK, I'll take your advise to heart. If we don't feel like helping, then don't.
You won't have anymore problems with me helping anyone else. I won't.
Thank you.

Now I know why zcink, is withdrawing all his comments...
Absolutely unbelievable. That goes for every person that participated in this. We have now lost countless pieces of useful knowledge and posts because of childish bickering.
Had a little back and forth with maxx and he saw the issue. There was a issue with my backup title that the program was naming it. Anyway problem solved. Thanks for all the input.......

[Q] Help! No 3g!

So I just updated to deck's Oct. 10 build and then applied some init.d and build.prop mods from the pimp my ROM package (it was featured on the portal if you want to check it out) and now my 3g doesn't work! I get WiFi and everything else works fine. Its just data. This is my only phone and I can't afford a new one if this one is busted. I've tried reflashing the ROM and the tweaks, but nothing worked. Any and all help is welcome. I can even send you my build.prop if you need to look at it. I'm s-on as well. I flash kernels with Flash image GUI if it means anything.

Have you tried flashing without tweaks and seeing if that works? If not I would flash back to sense and reprovision the phone, I don't exactly remember the process of the top of my head
Do a fully clean install and see if that helps. Narrow your possibilities. I lost 3G when I updated the kernal the other day and had to S-OFF and update the whole firmware to get it back to locking onto 3G. Do you at least get 1x like I did?
I did a clean install of the ROM, and nothing. Does re-provisioning involve ruu? I don't even have 1x. It just says searching for signal on my lock screen where it should say sprint. Its late where I'm at, so maybe something with the tower? That's just wishful thinking. Here's what my lockscreen and signal icon look like:

No its a dialer code in sense that is used for activation or reprovisioning of services. It's like reprogramming your phone
Downloading a sense ROM now. I'll post the results after I re-provision.

If I could remember the dialer code I would write the basic steps but I haven't needed to do so with this phone. It's been posted quite a few times so I'm sure a quick search will get you the steps

Well that's lucky, look at the thread for manual prl update, someone posted the steps for reprovisioning the phone there
I believe I found the code. Does ##SCRTN# sound right?
Sent from my EVO using xda app-developers app
That one doesn't sound right to me but I could be wrong. I think it was something like 786
In numbers it's 73786

##72786# is the correct code for provisioning
That may be it, I'd try it but its supposed to reset the device and I've finally got my phone the way I want it lol
Now it won't reset your device your apps and other things will still be in there this will just reset your network. Settings
Well now I know and that's something to remember, there is another one that does force a reset. Dont recall what it was though
So I don't know my msl, and ms reader won't fetch it because it needs a data connection

So I got my msl. I entered the code and it showed some information. Msid was among that. I went to menu and hit reset. My phone rebooted and my data still doesn't work... I can't even make phone calls its just got the signal bars with an x over it.

did you make sure that your 3g was working before flashing pimp my rom?

Yea, I flashed it on a previous build and it was fine. Then I updated to the latest build, but flashed pimp my rom in the same go ( noob mistake on my part, I know) and now no matter what rom or version of that rom I use, I don't get signal at all. I called sprint after reprovisioning didn't work. They tried everything, and now they want me to take it in for repairs :/
Yeah they'll probably just use an ruu

I've decided I'm fine with that. An uprooted phone that I can use is better than a rooted one with no signal. It would be different if I had another phone
