Just as the title says I have an OG tablet. With or without the sd card in it constantly reboots back to CWM recovery v 5.5.0.4. I hit reboot system now and it wont stop going to recovery. Any tips? I have CM7 installed and this is the first time this has ever happened.
Sounds like your boot.img is screwed. You need to restore a backup or reflash cm7.
I've tried reinstalling CM7 several times. t keeps booting into CWM. I tried a backup as well. I have no idea what to do now.
How do I restore my boot.img if I can only get into CWM?

boot.img is one of the backups of a nandroid backup
perhaps try albert's recovery?
I tried this one. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1402190 And It won't work. The files were copied correctly. But it wont boot it up. IS there another way to jsut restore back to factory settings to do it over again?
Can you still boot into recovery? Try this if you can
First try a a wipe data factory reset , wipe cache and advanced > wipe dalvik cache if that does not fix it then try reflashing a working tested backup that you have IF you have made one (RULE OF GOLD) if you don't have one then just do the wipes and flash CM7 again.
Report back!

Yes I can still get into recovery, in fact that all I can do. But now I get E: Can't mount /sdcard it just started doing this. It's not finding the backup from alberts file
You put the backup on your external sd card I take it? Try pulling the card out and putting it back in again. Alternatively, power off via power button + n and then boot manually into recovery.
Yes on my external SD card. I tried taking it out and putting it back it. I accidently partitoned the card so it read it fine but it. i tried adb reboot recovery aswell Ok it is reading the SD card fine now... but not finding the backup... It found it once. and said that the Md5sum didnt match then i rebooted it and recopied it then it as soon as i hit restore to look for a restore it rebooted...
While doing a backup of the NT7 I got this error " E: Format_volume: make_ext4fs failed on /dev/block/platform/mmci-omap-hs.1/by-name/system"
Im still stuck booting into recovery will redokng the paritions fix it

according to that error you posted it looks like one of your major partitions is broken. try looking up one of the repartition threads in the dev section. good luck.

Yep fixed it thank you for the advice.
Is USB supposed to be plugged in?
Ok, I came into the same situation, and I did the factory wipe, and all that good jazz. Now when I reboot it, do I unplug the nook tablet, or do I leave it plugged in to the computer or outlet?

doesn't really matter, leave it plugged in so your nook tablet doesn't shut off during the process.. its always good to have a power source when troubleshooting problems lol

Restoring data...
now it is stuck on restoring data...
what should i do now?
until now it's 50 mins it stopped.

what to do??
Oh boy, that sounds dangerous. You could wait it out. If it does not continue, hold the power-button for 10 seconds (or just pop the battery) and try getting back into recovery. If that doesn't work then I don't know if a USB Jig might help you.

could you say correct setting for mounts and storage of recovery.
i don't think as you cause i can go to recovery and download mode easily.
when i mount SD card ,restored backup successfully but when reboot it played boot animation then not go homescreen.
another question how to put new rom in my SD card in recovery?
i pulled out battery and repeat restore proccess but nothing happend
Recovery
Mounts and storage
Format Data Cache System only NOT SD CARD.
Follow that with your Nandroid restore .
That fails as above but follow with a stock rom flash instead of restore .
jje
i managed successfully to restore, but not full restore ,in advanced restore i choose one by one and skip restore data.now my phone is good.would like to know what kind of data i missed and what does do restoe data exactly?
I was trying to factory reset my phone. I removed SD card and dialed this code *2767*3855#
, but now its stuck in bootloop. Samsung animation without sound again and again. Then insterted SD card with a cwm backup, tried to restore via cwm, but again boot loop.
Flash Rom via ODIN
I suppose this is a filesystem problem, have you ever mess with it? (Rfs, ext4 and such)
Flash DXKPB (The one I use to repair my usual bootloop) with Odin, Full package. Make sure it has data.rfs flashed (You can see it in odin log)

OK Just flashed via Odin, and cleared cache and data and working. Thanx everybody.
But CWM really let me down. I didn't mess with any system files or like that.
Were You trying to flash new rom?
No, I just got a new Class 10 sd card, so I thougt to put it in after a factory reset so that things may get faster.
I had the same issue with my phone after installing Cyanogenmod well not exactly after but once I attempted to boot back to my phone decided to ignore any rom backup. I had to reinstall Gingerbread on my phone again and then using odin once I figured this out it only took me 10 minutes to get back on my mobile then I just recovered my default ROM using clockwork. Hope this helped.

Hi,
yesterday I tried to upgrade to CM7.2 from a nightly. As I've been doing, I put the .zip in the sdcard and flashed it with ROM Manager (wiping everything). After flashing it, my phone stucked at HTC white screen and there is no way to switch it on, it stays at this screen all the time.
For my disgrace, it's S-ON, so I can't boot into recovery and restore anything. I've tried to restore a nandroid with fastboot and it doesnt't work (says "Failed (remote: signature verify fail)").
Any ideas? It's definetly bricked? Is there any hope of repairing it?
Thanks in advance (and please forgive my poor english xD)

What do you mean you cant boot into recovery because you are S-ON?
All you need to do is put the recovery file other wise known as flakeflash "UPDATE.ZIP" into the root of the SDcard, turn off your phone (Pull Battery), then press the down button and power button together, wait for the phone to do its stuff, then select recovery in the menu, the phone will reboot into red exclamation mark, press volume up and power, it will then go into stock recovery menu and will then look for the "UPDATE.ZIP" if all is well you should then go into the fakeflash version of clockworkmod recovery.
Does it boot when USB cable is plugged in (soft usb brick)?

Thank you very much, now I can boot into cwm, but I'm having some troubles when trying to flash CM7.2 (or even trying to restore any nandroid backup).
First, when I try to install CM7.2, it does it very fast, without showing any error, but when I restart the phone it gets stuck again on HTC screen.
Then I try to restore a nandroid backup but it doesn't find boot.img, system.img and data.img, skips all steps and restores nothing.
My last shot, try to install the last nightly I used, fails at the same point as when I try it with CM7.2.
I don't know what else can I do, any ideas? I hope there's still any chance for my Legend (and again forgive my bad english xD)
A few points, make sure the rom zip file you are going to flash is not corrupt or incomplete.
Boot into cwm recovery,
Make sure to format the boot, system, data, cache & ext, it wouldn't hurt to delete the dalvik cache too before flashing new Rom. Just remember NOT TO FORMAT SD card.
Using this method I have always been able to flash a new Rom.

Prepare a new SD card in your PC (FAT32), put UPDATE.ZIP on it and a stock ROM, reboot into recovery, wipe all you can (factory settings) and flash the stock ROM, see if that works. If so, you could try to flash a custom ROM.
That is what I would try...
I'm too.
I can't up CookROm by Rom Manager,
but when i use ClockworkMod recovery, its OK

Some new ideas?
Hi Guys
I am new to playing around with android but not to electronics. I have a Verizon Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 16gb (SCH-i905) with current 4g service.
Here is the problem I am having:
It started yesterday, I was browsing the web and the tablet froze and then rebooted. After the reboot programs randomly freeze and crash, if I reboot anything I have downloaded is gone and anything I deleted is back and I can't install or remove apps. I figured I had something corrupted and a factory wipe would fix it. Unfortunately when I perform a factory wipe from the menus or through Android recovery nothing happens. The tablet boots up like nothing was erased. Still has all my accounts, security pin, apps, and so on.
So after that I figured I would flash the tablet, I found the thread here in the development forum with the stock 3.2 image to load through ODIN. I downloaded everything, followed the instructions. ODIN says the flash was successful but when the tablet reboots it still has all my info and is running 4.0.4. I have tried this multiple times. I have tried loading CWM with ODIN but it will not stick.
Any thoughts? If you need more information I will get it, I am just stuck and can't find anything that helps me with this problem!
Thanks for your help!!!
If you want cwm to load after you install it using odin, then you must immediately boot the tablet into recovery without letting it run normally. During the normal boot process, CWM is deleted and the stock recovery is restored. Therefore once Odin finishes installing CWM, hold the volume up button and once you get to the recovery mode you will be running CWM instead of the stock recovery module.
Regards,
Michael
Yes, I did read that in the multiple thread about installing CWM and have gone into recovery directly after ODIN reboots the tablet, however it is still only the stock recovery app.
Any ideas why the factory reset / data wipe won't work?
So after several more hours working on this problem I think I have come across the root cause. I believe that my internal storage has corrupted and is now only mounting in Read-Only mode. From everything I can find online, without having root access previously, this is a no go for fix it yourself.
In case anybody happens on this post down the road, I have been unable to find a resolution and it would appear I must sent the unit back to Samsung for repair.

factory reset through the stock recovery should be able to get you out of it (RO filesystem).

I guess that blows my theory out of the water. I can't make heads or tails with this. No matter what I do, Menu Factory Reset, Recovery Wipe/Reset, ODIN Flash Stock EG01 firmware, ODIN flash CWM Recovery as soon as this device reboots I am right back where I started....... GAH!!!
Thanks for letting me know I'm probably wrong.

it has to be factory reset through the stock recovery (it will format /data), not through CWM.

HI Pershoot!
I forgot to say thanks for your help!! I appreciate someone smarter than me lending a hand.
That said, I just tried to flash CWM from DB Galaxy Roms/CM10 folder. Upon reboot the tablet still entered stock recovery, I have tried this several times, but this time I took a video. If you feel so inclined to watch it maybe you can catch me doing something wrong....
Again thanks for your help!!

I had to do this on mine. http://techne.alaya.net/?p=8829. I rooted and modified the file described in the steps. Weirdly enough it still booted into stock recovery the first time I installed CWM. I installed CWM one more time and the tablet now boots into CWM.
Maybe someone can help me here. Using TWRP 2.8.0.1 I am unable to fully install any rom.
I had slimkat on my phone and decided I wanted to try regular CM 11. So I wiped everything in advanced wipe so I could start fresh.
Put the Rom and Gapps on my phone then tried to flash.
However while installing CM, it just goes about its business until the progress bar hangs at updating partition details.
It also appears I cannot move files to the internal memory from the sd card.
Are my partitions messed up?
All that happens now is getting stuck at the samsung boot logo or rebooting into TWRP...
Any help?

Yes partitions could be mixed up but my first port of call would be to return to stock with odin and if that boots and works then start again and don't use twrp try PhilZ recovery.
If partitions are corrupt there are things you can try but I would first try to get your phone to boot then report back.

Thanks for your help! Because of you I tried PhilZ, which then told me it couldn't successfully open/read the rom from the SD card. (Something twrp didn't tell me).
I then changed my SD card for another one I had laying around and it worked. (Strange the old one failed since I formatted it atleast a few times)
Once again, thanks for your tip!
This is now solved!
