Noob question perhaps, but how do you go about loading a new kernel for this device? I've done it using an app off the market on an LG albeit a while ago..
I'm having quite bad battery drain with this rom - may try the new nightly ICS if I cant sort it out!!

Flash a new kernel in cwm recovery, or cwm manager. Do not use ROM Manager... Sounds like what you used on the LG

I really feel scripts are not meant for ace I mean they are great but for higher range devices
It's just placebo effect + some battery drain + poor management of ram
No offense to anyone
So delete scripts if you have and see

Use a stock rom if u want battery life (i ussually use KS2/KS9)
Use a custom rom with overclock if u are searching speed. More speed involves more battery drain.
Use a stock rom if u are searching stability, they are the only which hasn't bugs.
The three things together are impossible. Speed will drain ur battery. Custom rom involves bugs.
Try the latest stcok indiam firmware and several others, like 2.3.5 or 2.3.6

I think no one can say what the BEST Rom is for you.
You have to try out for yourself.

Hey guys, I'm tired of going up and down the development section looking for some good stock rom kernels.
Does anyone know any good ones? I just tried out the battery extender one RC2.2 and got some reboot issues.
I'm using stocklite V6. I'm trying to see if I can get rid of the little data connection problem I have. Not switching roms because this is the only one I've used that gets me a full 12 hrs on 3G.
Well i guess the CF-ROOT is only the stable one bro. Haven't seen any other stable version in progress for stock.

so i rooted my phone with UCLE5 and put the Siyah v343 kernel. but now what? i spent the last 2 days researching to successfully do this for speed improvements and what not. but i dont really see any differences in speed, or any differences at all. any suggestions on what i can do now because my phone looks the exact same way as it did before the root or what did you guys do after a root to make it seem like i actually rooted the phone.

If you dial *6969# naked girls come to where you are..... You need to flash a CUSTOM ROM you're on a stock ICS ROM you need to read a lot more go to the DEV section those are all custom ROMS.... For an instant change go to the play store and install Apex launcher.

If you're on stock ics (the official release) and someone told u there are speed improvements they lied. Any custom rom easily blows stock out of the water. Stock ( even when rooted) is basically for people who want to play it safe and for things to just work. If u want customization and speed ur best bet is an AOSP based rom. Good luck. Happy flashing.

hmm i was specifcally told not to flash AOSP roms . btw do you know if that will improve battery life as well. since i updated to official ICS from kies my battery dies really quick. quick meaning if i sleep with battery around 50-60%, i wake up after 7 or 8 hrs, and my battery is dead. im not sure exactly when it dies, but im pretty sure this is a flaw.

Cheers

Ok, I says bad. I understand this, but I really want say in standby mode.
I does the LPY update yesterday, it looks like draining more the battery.
If you want good battery life, enable system power saving. My phone went from 100% to 99% in three hours.
I would say go for Custom ROM+kernel for better battery life...many options to tweak with battery life....
Try Siyah 4.1.5, and underclock. See if that helps

I agree with custom kernel but in my experience stock ROM provides best battery. It's all very subjective though and this question can't really be answered as you use your phone differently to me.
Just try a few ROM and kernel combos and see for yourself
I get 7hours or more screen time and awesome performance too.

Hey every1
so I wanted to fix a SGS3 of a friend of mine who isn't so much into modding. His phone lags like hell, keyboard and calls, just everything. I'm personally on a GNEX and couldnt stay one minute with a phone in this condition.
Well i thought about Supercharge his phone, maybe also changing the Kernel before, but leave the rest stock... but maybe it wont be enough and I'll have to flash him a ROM.
Now I ain't got a SGS3 to flash me trough all kind of ROMs in order to see for myself what works and what not.
So what I'm asking for are some recommendations. The ROMs for SGS3 are all different then then these on GNEX...
There are many and i want to reduce my options to lets say 3-4 ROMs and some kernels...
Anyone?
Thanks

No lags and no un necessary batterydrain.
