[Q] Where are Nandroid backups stored? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I was wondering where Nandroid backups are stored.
If it matters, CM7 @ SGSII. Thanks.

Sdcard/clockworkmod/backups
Sent from my M9300 using xda premium

use a file manager like "es file explorer" and look at sdcard->clockworkmod->backups

Thanks both, but when I look in that folder there's only one backup listed, not even the most recent one. When I go into CWM recovery, there are at least 5.
Any idea as to where I might find these other backup files?
*** EDIT *** disregard that I'm an idiot. Was looking at the external SD card while I should have been looking at the internal SD card.

So by looking in the internal, you found them correct?

Back up locations
When using my computer to locate them the locations are:
SD Card
Computer\SPH-L710\Card\clockworkmod\backup
Internal
Computer\SPH-L710\Phone\clockworkmod\backup
I hope this helps.

I ffound them exactly where you indicated. Why do they all have the date of 01-01-1980? How do I know which is the most curent?

(Solved) Titanium Backup problem

So I downloaded titanium backup but when I back apps. It doesn't back them up to my external SD card but instead to my internal SD card, please help

Change the backup folder from Preferences screen
Yea I looked around online and I moved the backup file to the external SD. My only question now is if I get a new phone and of course the titanium app isn't on there, if I just reinstall it than it'll detect my back ups on my sdcard right?

Help installing CM10

I'm having issues upgrading from CM9 to CM10...
I downloaded the zip file of the most recent CM10 experimental and when I try to install the zip in CWM recovery it says that no files were found. I can't seem to pull up any of my files on the internal sdcard.
I had no issues installing CM9 or any of the nightlies.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Still doesn't work. I can't even view my folders within the internal sdcard. I just keep on getting the message of no files found..
Any other idea?
have you tried in the option to mount the internal sd card?
Yes I tried but it can't mount..

Is there anything I can do to check into this? I have never had any problems access my internal sd other than this issue...
Maybe you switched the mountpoints in CM9? Can you access your external SD card (if you have one) from the recovery?

I don't have an external SD. I have no problem accessing my internal SD when the phone is on but just not when I'm in recovery.

Any ideas?

Just do it the hard way. I can't think of anything else. Flash a Samsung stock ROM, then check whether the same problem exists there.

I cannot find my zip files to flash when I boot into recovery?!?!

I am using the touch recovery and I am trying to flash a ROM but when I boot into recovery the zip file isn't showing anywhere.?!

What I do is create a file on the s/d card. I name it +Flash. Then whenever I download anything to flash .. It goes into that file.
When you go into recovery and look at your files .. the + makes it be the first file. Makes it easy to find.
Hope this helps.

You most likely have placed it on the external sd card. Check. If so, move it to internal.

Is this a new thing? I used to always put zips on my external and flash from there. Now mine is similar to the OP. Some roms I put on my external and CWM sees them no problem. Other times the folder is empty. If I go in and move the file back to the internal it shows right up. It was nice being able to dump the roms on the external which has more space than internal.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
I have always used the internal. I use TWRP recovery. You can select internal or external sd card to view when flashing.
Before when using cwm, I never had to worry. Placed everything on internal and it was just there when I was ready to flash. You could always use a file app to move older roms
To your external to save space. Take a look at TWRP. Its very quick for Nandroid backups.

I second using TWRP; best Recovery program, imo. I had a few problems with CWM (even Touch version) back when I started flashing ROMs, but no problems with TWRP.
There's also an issue with the External SD listing coming up under the root emmc folder, rather than under Internal; can always check there for missing files stored on your External SD.

I will be dammed I found it in the eemc folder or something like that. This is why XDA is fantastic, thanks a million.

[Q] Unable to write to sd card

I think I have seen this addressed somewhere before but I can not find it.
I have just updated to KitKat and am using Freeza's Stockish rom. When I try to run a restore in Mybackup, I am getting an error that says, Unable to write to sd card. Make sure the sd card is inserted properly, is not connected to your pc, and is not full.
When I go into Es file explorer, it shows all the files there.
How do I fix this?
I also see in Titanium backup that is says sd card not writable.
I GOT IT!!!

This seems to be a common problem on the deodex rom. I will post what I did to fix it. Just know when you go into a file explorer it is going to show 2 external sd cards. They are both the same, it just shows 2 now. You have to do a simple build prop edit with a program like root explorer. Just navigate to system/etc/permissions/platform.xml. long press on platform.xml and select open in text editor. Under WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE...Add this entry... <group gid="media_rw" />

Yea, I tried @micmars xml edit, it worked to create folders on the SD card but I still couldn't save twrp files to my SD card in recovery.

I'm having this issue as well on official 4.4.2 rooted. Can't copy files from internal to external in both root Explorer and es file manager.

The fix that I found allows me to do anything with the sd card.
I get the error when initially trying to copy the files.. seems like the error rests with the internal storage and not the sd card.

Here's an interesting read.
http://www.gottabemobile.com/2014/0...ote-3-android-4-4-problem-hits-micro-sd-card/
The "Problem" is not actually a problem apparently. Google actually designed KitKat this way. They are trying to keep as much as possible on internal storage.
I'm also on Freza's Stockish ROM and had the same problem. I can confirm that the platform.xml edit appears to fix the problem of not being able to write to the external SD.
But strangely, Titanium Backup still reports that the backup folder is not-writeable, but then when I run a backup it finishes successfully.

Same thing happened to me. I went into recovery, cleared cache and dalvik, and rebooted. Everything showed up properly then.
TWRP issue fixed by flashing the file located here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2471564&page=47 Post number 462.

Titanium backup and rooted 23.1.A.28 issues

Created my own flashable zip from the factory upgrade file, latest super such and latest dual recovery. This went over a slightly older copy that was rooted.
Everything else works. Verify root comes back as rooted. Root explorer has no issues accessing all areas of storage. For some reason titanium backup cannot write to anything but the internal SD card storage. It will not write to any other area including the external storage.
I tried writing titanium support but got nada.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

You can try to flash this via TWRP and find if it can fix your problem.
