Okay. I know that in general the thunderbolts GPS isn't the best, but my phone is being a b!tch. I can't get a lock for more then a day on any rom.

Never had gps issue with that rom. There is a gps patch in the dev threads, may want to try that.

Did the version you flashed include the new radio?
If not, you need to download and flash that.
New radio is N_01.77.30P. You can find this in About Phone under Settings.
Regardless of radio should still lock.
Try using faster fix from app market and set where you live.

I've had problems with my GPS ever since upgrading to GB. I have to be outside to get a lock. Even when it does lock it takes over 2 minutes and won't stay locked for longer than 5 seconds. I've flashed multiple ROM's with no luck. Seems that other people have had problems with GPS on GB wondering if anyone found a fix.
Is there any way to edit anything in the phone to increase signal in any way even if it drains battery quicker??
A good kernel

any that you recommend im running the latest viper rom and using the built in kernel
Most people will tell you to try anthrax(chands kernel) I suggest you don't because I use to be running viperom with anthrax and my batter would die on my so fast. Even without q signal boost.

Chads kernels run fine.

There was a time recently there was a known issue of battery drain but it was quickly fixed. Running great now.

Correct. Also the battery drain issue was only on certain kernels.

I know, I did read it somewhere, but, what are the correct settings within Wireles Tether to get it to connect properly?

That's where I saw it! Thanks for the help, I never really paid attention to it because I never use tether. Yesterday, I found myself needing tether and couldn't get it to work. Thanks again.
So... Radios?
What is the most stable radio to flash with the Thunderbolt? The one I'm using drops data intermittently both on the phone and while using the WiFi tether.
Thoughts? concerns?
Thanks,

I have the best luck with 2.11.605.9 radios on all rom's, but that's just me... I've seen data drops too lately. I think that's Verizon's way of telling us to upgrade lol

I went to a new area of 4g and wow it was a major difference. I think Verizon is overloading the towers! Oh I use the ICS radios on NuSense.

Can you flash a new radio through TWRP? Or can you only flash through adb?
Thanks.

You should always flash a new radio in hboot.

data drops have been rendering my TB almost useless.
I have been using .19 radios. And the leaks.
Any tips?
I am in NYC.
I'm running liquidsmooth right now and it is running great. I was wondering which out of all of them is the most stable? AOKP/pacman/carbon/cm etc.
I've had good luck with Carbon and CM

I know most non-tw roms have similar bugs but do these have any major ones?
Yeah GPS only works with location by mobile network disabled and 5ghz WiFi is not working and head phone audio in a phone call. So that about it if you can survive with out any of those I listed and aosp ROM is suitable.

5GHz wifi works fine but you have to change the channel to 48 or below.

When my gps wasn't locking even with the wifi assist off work around there is another possible fix. Back up your rom then flash tw based rom and get a full gps lock. Restore other rom and then was able to get locks fine (with workaround disabling the one checkbox)

My GPS locks fine with the wifi location checked on Carbon 6/20 with stock kernel. I am locked on 11 satellites indoors right now on the bottom floor of my house.
But..looking at gps status it seems like the magnetic sensor does not work.

GPS has always worked for me on Cyanogenmod. I'd say it's by far the most stable since most others base themselves off it.

Any "What's the Best...." or "What's the most stable....." Threads are a matter of opinion for the members running them and exactly how they use their phone. Therefore what may be stable or best for them will not be the same for you. There is no substitute or shortcut to backing up, reading and flashing yourself. This is why these threads are always closed.
Thanks
