Archos 80 G9 - 250gb (firmware v 4.0.6) installed from archos website
I was in the process of rooting my device and now the device just keeps retstarting. It gets to the splash on screen and then goes off. I cannot get into the recovery menu.
Pressing power and volume does nothing, this happened after I installed firmware v 4.0.6,then installed sde firware which didn't update for some reason.
Any idea what can be done?
Thanks

Hold down power button for 10sec. Wait while green led is turning off. Press Volume down button and power simultanously. When you see the Archos logo just leave the buttons untouched. Good Luck!
I will give that a go, I tired holding the power button for 20 seconds, 30 seconds with volume buttons pressed with no luck.
If this doesn't work what can I do, I only had the device for 2 months..

It should work, I haven't heard of any bricks from what you've done. Just hold power for 10 secs, let your tablet sit for a few minutes, hold volume up and press the power. Dont let the volume go until you're in recovery

Oh boy...
If installing of SDE failed your device got still the stock setup
Please try it like this step by step:
1. Power down the device completely by pressing the power button for at least 10 sec.
2. Press volume up and hold it
3. Press power button shortly (~2sec.) untill the green light goes on, then release power button.
4. Hold the volume up untill recovery screen appears.

Had a similar problem not getting into recovery after i did it hundred times succesful with my gen7 and my gen9 - thought it was bricked -
tried it later again and then i was in recovery.
Good luck!
Had a similar experience yesterday mine was in a continuous circle booting into SDE everytime shutting down and rebooting, managed to get into recovery and had to do a full format and download stock 4.0.6 from Archos website, got everything working again but a bit reluctant to try and root again.

From searching other forums and google I found the following:
You can enter update mode by removing the battery, then while holding down the VOL + button plug in your usb cord(i assume while it's connected to your computer).
Then you can search the forums here and find:
[LG P970] Upgrade Kit 3.5
(the title is longer than this i just didn't put it all in here due to laziness)
This should help you in your quest of retrieving your phone from light up paperweight status. I don't really know though. Since I've never used your phone. Good luck.
recovery mode
you need to press the home button, volume -, and power,
to enter to the recovery mode.

power up your phone, when the buttons start to blink (or the cm logo appears or whatever boot logo you have) press and hold vol down then press power button (home key is not really needed like the video ) . it also works on stock rom if you have a recovery installed.
note that it won't work at the early bootup when the lg logo appears or when android is booted and ready.

It takes me in safe mode, i'm not even sure what it is (I guess is something similar to window's? It has less apps when I am in safe mode!
I'm not sure what to do, I tried to reboot in recovery mode with the ROM manager but it doesn't work (nothing of the ROM manager works actually).
Any ideas on what safe mode is?
Thanks!
UPDATE:
I tried this app to reboot in recovery mode
play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.siriusapplications.quickboot&hl=en
It rebooted the phone, the android robot showed up with some stuff turning in the stomach (like this: upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/7/76/Android_Update_Screen.JPG) and then it turned on normally except that all my data now is gone (which is not a problem since I wanted to wipe it from the recovery mode, the problem is that I still can't get into recovery mode!

I am trying to root my tab following these instructions, http://www.thedroiddemos.com/2011/08/28/how-to-root-the-samsung-galaxy-tab-10-1-video-walkthrough/
but I can't get the tablet to boot into download mode? I am using stock 3.2 update and when I hold the volume down and power after a few seconds the samsung logo comes up but then thats it. It will just keep restarting with the samsung logo booting up but I don't get the option to ever boot into download or recovery mode, it keeps skipping that part.
Any help would be much appreciate and I did try and search first before I posted.

You need to hold power and volume down at the same not one followed another
Sent from my GT-P7510 using Tapatalk
sorry I didn't mean followed by power...I am holding volume down and power at the same time and that is what happens.
There was another thread where the solution was posted. I think you have to tap the power then hit both once you see Samsung. If that doesn't work search for the other thread.

That worked, thanks
This is trickier than it seems. The only way I could make it work was:
- press the Vol- button.
- while pressing it, press the power button
- when the Samsung logo appears, let the power button go but keep pressing the Vol- one
- wait until the download/recovery screen appears
- let the Vol- button go

If your power led is still on...
try to press power button for at least 10 sec (force a hard reset).
Power led should go off afterwards.
Then try again to get in to recovery mode by pressing vol down + power button.
What happens?

so after installing the latest twrp using twrp app; I tried to boot into recovery and my phone is just stuck on fastboot. I'm not able to turn phone off. Tried different solutions but nothing seems to help. the only command to work is reboot booloader which takes me to the same screen. after searching these threads I have not found anyone with this phone having that issue. any help would be appreciated.
fyi tried 3 different cables, 2 different computers lol.
I discovered that if you hold Volume + and Power while on any screen until it turns off and on and off and on and off again, you can boot in to recovery. (Before I had to take apart the phone and remove the battery lol) Just hold these two buttons for about 25 seconds and eventually it will boot in to twrp/stock recovery
Easier way I think.. .. . Hold power and volume up buttons until end of the second vibration, then release power. After you see the recovery screen - then you can release volume up.

battery finally drained. I tried the volume down + power, released when it vibrates but doesn't get me to recovery. I'm gonna charge it for about 2 minutes and try it again. at least I don't have to worry about this damn thing exploding and setting my place on fire while I'm gone lol.
update: so I tried again and as soon as plug the phone to charge it goes in to fastboot. tried volume down and power. release when it vibrates and it wont get to recovery. I also found a stock file somewhere b322 or 320. put it on a dload folder and did the 3 button trick and nothing either. time to trash this damn thing I guess lol.
Volume UP + power - go back and read my last post carefully for how to get to recovery.

so ok, I tried volume up + power and nothing. phone is on fastboot wont turn off. it restarts but wont stay off.
From your PC folder where you should have a copy of fastboot.exe and put a copy TWRP.img file for the phone:
> fastboot boot TWRP.img
Then if that works, you should be able to turn it off from the TWRP menu - and maybe you need to reflash TWRP if you have not done so yet.

My friend was just stuck at the fastboot screen for hours now and he gave up. I grabbed the phone and held all the buttons, vol up + down + power and when it vibrated I let go of the volume buttons and kept the power till the logo came up then let go and it booted up normally. Not sure why after hrs of trying to figure it out that this worked and I never read to do that. Just wanted to share in case anyone has a phone stuck. I flashed different versions of twrp an could not get into recovery at all.
I just put my phone in fastboot/bootloader mode, then held the power button in until the phone vibrated, then released the power button - after that the phone booted up to normal mode.

Oh ok good to know. Maybe me holding the volumes buttons did nothing so I had basically did what you did since I did let go of the power button right after.
Seems that way, and it's easy enough for you to confirm his phone works the same way just to be sure.

Any idea if there is a chance to wake up the phone back to live?

Hi rompip,
Can you reboot the terminal in fastboot mode : "vol -" and "power" for 5-10 sec ?
Do you have battery ?
When you plug it in charge, does it work ?
Best regards.
Max.
Keep in mind that if your phone goes by itself in the QDLoader mode, it’s better to try some combinations below:
1) Keep the power button pressed for about 2 minutes, or
2) Keep the power button + Vol up pressed for about 2 minutes, or
3) Keep the power button while connecting the phone to a wall charger, or
4) Bring the phone into a bright light and press the power button (or power button + Vol up) for about 2 minutes, or
5) Keep the phone charging for more than 24 hours and repeat all the steps above.

thanks, long Power pressing (approx. 1 minute) worked for me!!! Do you have any advice how to get rid of the Fastboot bootloop? I can enter into recovery, would I need to perform a full wipe?
