I'm looking for a as2p headset to use with my TyTN. I need a small transmitter with a 3.5 mm audio jack for using with a customised earphone.
I was about so buy the HTC BH-S100 but I've seen in many forums that the volume is too slow with it ! And as I'm planning to use it in my car too, I need a sound volume high enough.
Maybe someone knows another transmitter ?
What about i-Tech ClipR35

Try the Tritton Bluestream AX, it's a bit expensive but it was worth it. I love the OLED screen since i dont have to take my phone out to see whose calling. the sounds pretty good too and u can upgrade it's firmware too

After using this device, 1 month straight.. It stays in my pocket 11 hrs at work. Streaming audio, works like a champ.

I've got the Motorola S705. The sound quality is good (with original earphones), the battery is quite good (2hrs charging for 6-8hrs of music), it also got FM radio. The detection of the device is fast and easy to do. The OLED screen is quite readable in sunny days... But navigating in the device's options is a little bit laggy.
For me it's a good headset. Now it's time for you to make a choice

The only issue I have had with the S705 is that sometimes when you try to asnwer the phone the S705 goes offline and requires the unit to be powered off and on again.
I haven't been able to re-create the problem.
I also notice the lag, but it isn't that big of a deal-I've been having more issues with the various media players in their time to switch tracks when shuffle playing my library (2,000+ songs, AAC-HE encoded).
I never had the "answering" problem on my S705... Am I lucky ? But it's true that the lag is not very big.
It's a good device but not well known as Plantronics' headset.

(1) Yes, being a Class 1 device it does have a large range, but it's dependent on the other device its connected to. In other words, you're stuck with longest distance of the shortest device in the chain. Since most of the phones out there are Class 2 devices (10 m), you're going to be limited by the class 2 device range. And for all practical purposes, the usable range is usually about 30 to 50% of its advertised range.
(2) I do not believe it has noise cancellation, but I haven't had any issues with noise being a problem.
I am simply in love with my Plantronics 590's.
1. No one ask me if I'm on a headset during a phone call and the clarity is top notch.
2. The music is clear, crisp. I have no problem connecting to my 8125 or the Nokia 5300 I have.
3. If you get the more expensive A package (instead of the E package) or buy it aftermarket, it comes with an adapter that goes into any 3.5mm headset (plasma tv, computers, etc....) allowing you to connect and listen to that device in stereo. I've been at least 35 meters away and had a clear audio signal with no signal or quality loss. Movies, videos and regular tv sound awesome. Also if the device you are connecting with has equalizer settings the headset sound does as told.
4. I've had other Plantronic devices before ( a usb headset with dsp for gaming). This device was destroyed by my son and when I sent it in for repair the warranty was honored and a new set was sent to me although the product is out of production! That goes far with me when a company actually stands behind it's product.
5. They look good to me.

I've had an i-Tech ClipR35 for a year or so now and I'd recommend people stay away from it. I don't use it for calls, just to listen to music while at the gym or doing other physically intensive things when I don't want my Hermes in my pocket. It actually left it at one machine and got half way across the gym before the music started to drop out, at least 50 meters if not 75m.
However it's buggy. Sometimes while running on a treadmill I'll hit the "skip-forward" button to skip to the next track and it will inexplicably turn off, switching all music to the Hermes' quite loud speaker. Bad time to be listening to Eddie Murphy's "Party all the Time". It doesn't want to connect to the phone; I have to soft-reset, then "set as wireless stereo" in comm manager for it to connect every time I power it on.
The volume is also a little on the weak side for me. I want to the max volume to be ear splitting so when I'm biking along a busy road I can overpower the road noise. I have good Sennheiser ear buds that can seal out alot of noise but I always have the clip at 90-95% of the volume under normal conditions.
I want to replace it but it wasn't until recently that there were many other options, and they're all still on the expensive side for replacing something that is operational if buggy.
hey wazmo, just to update u... i finally purchased the sony DS980.... and did not go for the Moto!
When i put 2 and 2 together.... i simply ended up liking the Sony piece....

I also use a Plantronics 590 and it is really good. Bass sounds good on it, it has a telescoping mic and the controls are easy to use on the side. The only gripe I have about it is the flashing blue ring. It flashes blue every 3s when it is paired to a device, it's fairly bright and would be annoying had I not wrapped it in electrical tape.
They are fairly comfortable, however after a couple of hours they start to hurt my due to the thin padding. Battery life is really good,
The next pair I will be purchasing will be Motorola S805.
Jabra BT320s, works really well....pair of sony earphones to go with....nice.

I have been using HBH-DS980 with polaris and now with HD. Sound quality is better comapred to polaris (comparison without tweaking bt settings). Adressbook and call history works also you can see the number/name of the caller.
Music quality is quite good. AVRC is working as expected. The volume keys do not change system volume for music but I noticed that when in call, if you adjust volume from this device, phone volume is also updated.

I bought some HBH-IS800 bluetooth earphones.
I haven't used them extensively yet, but one thing's for sure - they are just as dinky and slick as you expect them to be
Sound seems okay - not as good as the wired in-ear Sony ones (MR71 I think) I have been using, but easily good enough for commuting, gym etc.
Can't comment on battery life yet, but paitring is easy, and they are comfortable in the ear, despite being slightly larger than the wired type.
All in all, you could prolly get much better phones for the money (I paid £78 from mobilefun.co.uk), but for convenience, discretion and sheer smugness they're worth it in my book.

i have used two different stereo headsets with my athena- both generally crap.
Both of mine were the caller id type with controls.
1. sony HBH-DS970 crap sound- decent BT connection- voice quality (ie volume) ok after reg hack- caller id unable to display name, shows numbers only- track id cant show name- audio not loud enough, never found hack for this- ****e in ear buds- special sony charger- in ear padding falls off and gets lost for ever
2 decided I wanted to be able to use my B&O earphones so I got a ax bluestream from tritton- your own headphones plug in to the clip on BT unit- audio quality good but still too quiet- controls not intuitive- OLED- BT interference in calls is high when walking away from the phone- buggy software- no caller name or song name, just phone number. Better than the sony unit- mini usb charging
Overall my biggest problem was the lack of volume- managed to reg hack the outgoing and incoming phone audio but not the music level.
Overall i prefered the tritton option as i could use my own headphones with the buit in mic- cost more than the sony though
Battery life on the sony required me to carry the charger everwhere- especially given that the atena doesn't support calls without a headset

3. Sony DR-BT21G - Looks stylish as well. But crosses 40 bucks. But can purchase if there is significant difference

The S9s should, I suppose it depends what profiles your car setup supports.
I use my S9s to listen to music vids on my laptop and I can take/make calls via my HD using the buttons on the headset.
Set the partnership on the HD to "hands free" and laptop services to "audio sink".
Be aware that the telephony audio is from one channel only. The left ear.
edit: Sorry, I misread your post.
However, the S9s will allow you to do what you ask. When listening to audio an incommimg call will pause the audio and switch to hands free telephony.

i use jabra 620s, i used it with my ipaq 210 , however, i sold 210 to get some money for my HD. and jabra 620s is only about 50 usd, but i compared with my UE fi 4, UE fi 4 actully is not that much better than my jabra 620s with HD~ so, 50 usd jabra 620s is a not bad choice goes with HD. the vol adjust, forward, and back, answer button, start/pouse button all work with HD~

It works great! But again... Audio-Booster is not working with this bluetooth headset...
And "volume control" is not working op the TP2... you can however control on the headset... [email protected] gives a notification of this also when connecting to the backbeat.
Oh! and by the way! you can multi-pair this headset to more than one device. What I have done: pair the stereo part to my TP2 and the phone part to my Ipaq914c for calling (business). When a cal comes in the music pauses and you can call and when he call is ended the music starts playing... NICE!

if you want to use your own headphones I would recommend the JABRA BT3030 if you want some quality...the sound is also good for a bluetooth headset...
if you're thinking of buying the sony ericsson HBH-DS980 because of the caller ID function, DONT, because this function will only work on the Sony phones...

The product is actually really good. I dont get the "it's hurting my ears" , "it's matt black" etc.
The JB-200 is an awsome product and is geared towards extreme sports people and at the gym.
Love it, however my taste in music requires BASS, and this is something it does not have, therefore I gave them away .
There was bass but not enough for my likeing.
I will be getting the Jabra Halo and see how they work and will report back

i've just paired a sony DR-BT20NX wireless headset to my tp2 and i must say i'm quite please with the results.
When paired, the device does say that it will not support volume control, which it doesn't but it has it's own volume control which you can easily use to adjust the volume to your needs.
Also, when music is playing and you receive a call, it mutes the music and rings! you can then pick up, talk and hang up; the music resume as soon as the call is disconnected.
You also get the remote control features to fully work with it e.g play stop ff rev etc.
The quality of sound, especially bass, is pretty impressive i must say.
Anybody else who'se used it?
So far, I must say I'm quite happy with it - though only down side, it's slightly pricey? it's around for £55-70
Comments/suggestions welcome.

I bought the Motorola S9's two years ago and hated them... they had compatibility problems with my phone and desktop (skipping constantly)... but when I paired them with my TP2, they worked flawlessly... definitely recommended for this phone.

Yes, +1. I have the original S9 and the the new S9-HD and they are great, I use them all the time.
Look on Ebay and you can find the original S9's for $35 new delivered!! The only big difference between the the new and old version is while in a call, the old S9 only plays the call in to the left ear. The HD plays it back in both. Pretty much the same other than that.

I have had a HTC Dream for about 3 - 4 months and so far i've tried two bluetooth headsets with it.
Dell BH200 Bluetooth Headset
Pros: Awesome Music Quality, Comfortable
Cons: On answering a call it would disconnect and shutdown, making it useless for that purpose.
Motorola S9 Bluetooth Headset (My experience, not sure about in general)
Pros: Also has good music quality, Allowed me to answer calls, good call audio quality,
Cons: Not too comfortable but manageable, I heard (and experience) that it does not do well with moisture (sweat, etc), and most important of all it tends to stutter constantly. If i am streaming music (Over Pandora for instance) it stutters to the point of being unlistenable. Sometimes it has bouts of clear playing but no longer than 60 seconds. With WIFI off as is usually recommended, it's a little better as in the stuttering happens at 0:45 - 1:30 minute intervals.
So after this very lengthy explanation here's my question: Is there a bluetooth headset on this earth that will do at least the following:
- Play stereo music of at least decent quality over A2DP (Willing to compromise on quality for functionality)
- Be able to answer calls
- NO STUTTERING!!! even if only with wifi off. I can deal with having to turn wifi off but when it's already off and it still happens it's kind of annoying.

I've had good luck with both Jabra's BT3030 and Sony's DR-BT140Q headsets. The BT3030 is a dogtag-like device on a chain into which you can plug any standard headset. The DR-BT140Q is a more traditional all-in-one set with earpieces that rest against the outside of the ear.
I get almost no stuttering on either set with Wi-Fi turned off. The sound quality is good with both, though the BT3030 is better, with deeper bass. I've had the BT3030 for a few months and have had no problem answering calls. I've been using the DR-BT140Q for only a few days and haven't had any calls come through when I've been using the set, so I can't say how it will work. But I don't anticipate any problem, based on how well everything else is functioning.

I'm using an iTech R35. It's a small thing with a mic, buttons and a 3.5mm jack.
Once in a while (2 to 3 times an hour) i gets a small lag but it very rare. Works greta for both music and phone call. I'm using sennheiser px200 with it or my blackberry bold 9000 headset.
I'm using a Jabra BT320S and it works very well.
No problems taking calls, pretty decent audio quality (even with original earbuds), and almost no stuttering with WiFi off.
I know these are a bit old now, but I would imagine that whatever Jabra replaced them with would probably be ok too.

Just bought a Jabra BT3030 today and VERY impressed with it so far.
I have experienced absolutely no stuttering so far and all the buttons work perfectly.
The sounds quality is very good with some really good bass added to it which I always found lacking with the wired headset.
I also like it as it can be used with normal headphones if I wish, although the included earphones are very good... and most important of all... it looks cool!

Ok I have have a few BT headsets with my G1:
Plantronics 855 - excellent noise canceling and stereo, the ear loop was rather brittle and broke on me. I lost it . . . . highly recommend
Plantronics 655 - worthless, no wait . . . I can ebay it.
BlueAnt Z8i - had to reconnect after each recharge, low audio levels, callers that were used to the 855 complained about background noise, when it got run over I smiled
Jawbone Icon - Wow I have had it for a week and I love it, it stays connected, it is loud and clear, the noise cancellation is almost as good as the 855 (I thought it would be better than the 855 because of the Jawbone name). It has caller ID (number only, but hey not bad). It took a week to get invited to the MyTalk website, but I love the Dial2Do app (just a shortcut using the multifunction button to direct dial the service as far as I can tell). Still playing with Dial2Do, but I think I am going to load the voice dial app next. Only 1 week, but I am still finding little supprises.
I was on the fence and almost got the voyager pro, I have never seen a bad review of that one. It came down to the fact that I keep it in my pocket and I figured that I would break it quickly.
It is amazing what a BT aficionado one can become when the ear speaker on you G1 dies. . . .
free memory?
Before you shell out big bucks on a new headset, how much free memory do you have? I have a cheap southwing 202 ($20 from eBay) but it works just fine when i have more than 20mb of ram available. Running widgets and unused processes take ram away from big programs like pandora. Get a task manager from the market and clear up some ram, then see if that helps first.

@Bigt2003 Yeah, i'm pretty paranoid on my phone when it comes to RAM so i keep a vigilant watch on the running apps. but it's strange as the BH200 worked fine but the Moto S9 didn't .... figure it's just the headset.

im running a crappy nokia bh-601 and it works great when im at home or in the car (aka stationary) it gets.... i dont wanna say choppy. lets say the lyrics go "living is easy with eyes closed" (yes good song) if im walking/ jogging it will cut out at certian moments but continue the song on point ie. living is.............easy with eyes...........closed.
i should also note that this doesn't happen with calls

PS, I've owned the motorola s9 set and it sucked, 2 pairs I went thought... My ears hurt and they die if show water to them... sport my ass.
I went out like 20+ times snowboarding with this set in my helmet and in -20 degree C.. never a problem...
They seem to work best on 2.1 roms... not sure why, 1.6 roms will work but after answering a call you might need to power them off and back on to get the music to stop skipping... they work like a charm in 2.1 roms tho..

I got samsung sbh 500 - despite design disadvantages (must worry about two plastic elements that just like to disappear) it's one of most "well-sounding" headset - especially for music (I've tested plenty of them including almost all jabras)
I bought a pair from an ebay seller called "artyguru" (hxxp://stores.ebay.co.uk/Artyguru-Superstore) Brand I'd never heard of: "Bluedio" model number AV890, They cost about $10 (delivered) and I was amazed by how GOOD they sounded when paired to my G1. My son was jealous, so I bought HIM a second set, to use with his iPhone 3GS. Again, great music quality. The (tiny) BT module features two buttons, and two "rocker switches" - "Take Call" and "Play/Stop" buttons, and "vol+/-" and "advance/regress track" for the two-way rockers. With WIFI off as is usually recommended, it's a little better as in the stuttering happens at 0:45 - 1:30 minute intervals.
So after this very lengthy explanation here's my question: Is there a bluetooth headset on this earth that will do at least the following:
- Play stereo music of at least decent quality over A2DP (Willing to compromise on quality for functionality)
- Be able to answer calls
- NO STUTTERING!!! even if only with wifi off. I can deal with having to turn wifi off but when it's already off and it still happens it's kind of annoying.

These problems are not necessarily with the BT device. There are some serious issues with BT on the Dream (all Android mostly) CM and TeamDouch has solved most of these issues with CM6.
I have the Jabra BT3030. With a little bit of hacking you can get this BT Necklace. It sounds great. Answers and stays connected. Very little skipping (unless in a 2.4Ghz busy area, lots of wifi, mobile wireless phones, wireless mouse...) I use to have pitch problems. When the phone was CPU busy, the music pitch would get higher and lower. (Well documented on Google) Since CM6 I rarely have problems with BT.
Where you are is important.
I've use an Altec 903 and Motorola S705 and had very different results.
The Altec sounds pretty good. But if I get away from anything around me, like in a parking lot, running outside, even walking in the gym away from any equipment or walls, it cuts out a LOT. It seems to need something to reflect off of, or I need to wear the G1 above elbow height. Armbands are good.
The Motorola is rock-solid, scary so. But sound quality is marginal.
Run a 2.2 ROM and use the DSP Manager to get some bass into it, and mild compression if you can bear it.

I'm thinking about buying bluetooth headphones for my Touch Pro 2. So far the only one bluetooth audio device which i used was BH104 from Nokia but it wasn't for listening to music but for talking - so the quality of sound was very bad.
I would like to don't have a cable connected to rhodium in my pocket - so bluetooth headphones could be good for me. For example this one : http://www.jabra.com/Sites/Mobile/ee-uk/Products/Pages/JabraBT3030.aspx Anyone used this or other similar headphones with rhodium, blackstone or similar device? I would like to know something about sound quality. Is it better or the same like from Creative EP630 which i use now? What about battery usage with bluetooth headphones?
Any opinion would be good for me, so please post

I don't have any experience with the headphones you mentioned, but I have the Moto S9 HD's and they're pretty great.
I use the jabra bt3030. it's okay, but due to the design, has no noise cancellation and picks up wind and background noise during a call.
Note, the bt3030 are not really headphones, but a small dog-tag looking adapter for any 3.5mm headphones you like. the included chain is too long for comfortable use and the detachable clip is a bit flimsy. i use them primarily with retractable cable over the ear headphones from sony to listen to music and generally just have the bt3030 dangling from the headpones at whatever length is comfy. sound is good, using with video can be a bit much if you're watching divx or similar heavy codecs.
Firstly, thanks for info's. Yes, i know that i can connect every headphones to bt3030. I have headphones to connect, all i want is the wireless listening to the music. So if the bluetooth connection is good, then sound quality will be good too. I just wanted to know about dog-tag. How about bass level with it?

I use sony hbh ds 980 stereo bluetooth headphones and they work great. you wear a necklace which has two ear buds on a wire. on the controller you can see who is calling, scroll through contacts, call history and use voice command. as far as music there is a volume rocker, track forward and back, play/pause. Music comes through loud and clear as does calls. I never had any complaints as far as people hearing me either. the batterey lasts a full day of heavy usage. Let me know if you have any questions.
I use the Sony HBH-DS970 and it's AWESOME! I've had it for many years, used it first with my Touch Pro, now with the TP2. The battery is getting weak though, when I first got it it lasted for about 6 hours now it's about 3. When I get a new one I'm gonna get the new version (HBH-DS980). Both versions have great features: Caller ID, separate volume controls for calls & music, you can pause/play, skip (forward, & back) music & videos, The "call" button on the cord not only lets you take and end calls but it also lets you access "Voice Command" which is great. Oh, and it pauses your music when calls come in & starts it again when you're finished. These are "stereo" headsets and the sound is incredible, deep bass and all. They come with VERY soft in-ear "buds" that you won't mind wearing all day (different sizes) VERY comfortable. I can't say enough good things about this headset. The only bad thing I guess would be that it doesn't have replaceable batteries. Oh, one other thing, if you are overclocking your device make sure to disable whatever overclocking program you're using before connecting & using the headsets (that causes all kinds of issues and freezes when you're pausing & playing; among other things, not quite sure why). When you're done with the headset you can turn overclocking back on.
P.S. DO NOT buy this off of eBay! I did that to save money, they are fake, they last for about two months then fall apart. When I got the "real" one I could NOT tell them apart even though I knew which one was the "real" one, those fakes are that good. Get it from amazon or somewhere you already trust.

I use the Plantronics Backbeat 903, they work amazing for both music and call quality...I've experienced with MANY good bluetooth headsets, they ALL at times fail with in call quality...from motorola, jawbone, plantronics...Ive never purchased the cheap sets, and regardless, theyre bound at some point to have an occasional call where the other party mentions some sort of weirdness to the call quality...the Backbeats have had very few instances of this...they're "considered" multipoint as they can be sync'd to multiple devices, but only for music, they do not have "true" multipoint, as the jawbone does, to handle calls to two phones simultaneously...regarding the music playback quality,...amazing
