Vibration - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

Is their anyway to increase the vibration duration or intensity over stock settings. I can barely feel this this thing go off when in my holster or pocket

Settings, sound, vibration intensity. At least that's how to do it in Gb.

Still very soft vibration
i dont mind it but i do admit its very soft

No way to increase it beyond the stock settings. I agree it is very soft, but there is only so much force an unbalanced weight can produce when you consider the size and weight limitations. Old beepers and cell phones that could rip your belt off when they went off had much larger weights attached to the vibration motor - because the cases and the weight of all the other components were so much larger. The thinner and lighter you go - like the Note - the less vibration you'll get.
Eventually they'll have to find another way to do it. Maybe a thin belt with protrusions that vibrates as it gets pulled across a stationary spoke (like a card stuck in a bike's spokes). Or turning the back plate of the phone into a subsonic speaker, like a subwoofer.

That sux, I can't have my phone on ring at work so I use vibrate. I wonder if someone can work in a custom vibrate pattern into a rom and ill just configure it to go longer.

Vibrate - haptic feedback

Just got my 3VO and I have to say the haptic feedback feels great. It was something that bugged me ever since the Mogul days and every phone has done it wrong since up to this one from HTC. It was always that BZZAAP feeling that had varying degrees of length. Now it's nice and subtle and gentle like my friend's old voyager from back in the day. I was always jealous of his haptic feedback.
i turn my haptic feedback off
The intense vibrations from the keyboard are annoying; only haptic I'm using is capacitive buttons.

Yeah, I don't use haptic feedback either.
Speaking of good vibrations.... How is the general vibration on this phone?
Sometime on the Evo I cannot feel it vibrate if its in my pocket or on the belt clip.
Is it better or same as the Evo?
Any incite in exchange for TY points?

I feel like the vibrations are way too strong. I'm probably going to turn off capacitive buttons soon maybe ill save some battery. The problem is that it vibrates way to hard lol

You will save battery and the motor from wearing out too soon.
I hate that stuff and always turn it off, its sucks like a rumbling PS3 controller.
I just use the regular vibrations so my phone isn't ringing when im out and about.

Speaker too quiet

Why does HTC think we've got ultra sonic hearing? Full volume on my speakerphone is too quiet. It's perfect for being in a business meeting, but that's not often!
Is there a way to patch this without root?
P.S. I'm referring to music, I haven't experienced ringer yet (I usually have my phone on vibrate.)

Ringer is just as bad, and unfortunately without root it seems that the only thing that could help would be an update from HTC, which hasn't come yet. There's another thread regarding this, with a link to voice your opinion directly to HTC.
It is the back cover. The 3VO has these tiny, tiny microscopic holes. Yes, you can see them right there next to the camera opening. Maybe break out the Dewalt drill?
Also, the back cover holds the power and volume buttons. So it is difficult to use your 3VO with the back cover off, unless you use a small flat head screwdriver to jump the actual onboard switch.
That is probably why some people think those buttons are mushy. They are part of a flexible back cover.
Also, you can test this with back cover on/off. Make sure you have your volume set because it will be difficult to change with the cover off. Sounds muffled to me with the back cover on.
The original EVO had substantial holes in the back cover over the speaker. It is noticeably louder. Especially with the custom kernels that kicked the audio up by several dBs.

I just took the back off while music was playing, no change in volume.

Did you apply the OTA update? I noticed a significant increase in speaker volume afterwards of the update...

I apologize. I thought you were talking about call speaker. However I just played some Deadmau5 and the speakerphone sounded adequate.
Has there been any confirmed hardware variances in shipped 3D's yet that might explain some inconsistencies?
Is their any way we can make the speaker louder without a root only app ?

I'm hardware version 0002, if that makes any difference.

I've tried AudioBoost 2 (Root needed unfortunately), Volume+ was a fail, as well as Volume Boost. Unless someone knows of another application, we're at a loss as of right now.

Weak vibration,any suggestions?

Hey guys, my phones vibrate function has slowly been getting worse and worse, I can hardly feel haptic vibrate when I hit keys on the keyboard and it sounds like absolute hell when a text vibration happens or if someone is calling me. Any suggestions? I don't want to have to unroot and bring it to Sprint just yet..

Is it every ROM? I know for a fact that on some ROMS the haptic feedback is nearly non-existent and others its fantastic.

This is good to know, I am using clean rom and am going to check with the rom handler.
I just swapped my vibration motor because it was weak. HTC shipped more than one type of motor and when I replaced the motherboard it came with the weaker type. You can tell the difference visually, the stronger motor looks like two domes (big and small) while the weaker motor has one dome and two ridges on the other side of it.
Anyways, I wanted to explain how to replace a dead/weak motor. It's really easy to do. There is no need to solder or unclip it. You can find motors by searching google. They are under $5. If u buy a motherboard it will come with one too. Use the description I gave to discern what type ur buying.
Remove your battery and sd card. Search youtube for the evo 3d teardown video. Follow the first two steps: remove the 6 screws and crack open the back wit your fingernails. Now you can see the motor.
Unplug the motor connector. Lift the motor straight up and out of it's cradle/box using ur fingernails. It's not secured in any way. It just slides out.
I think there will be a few people doing this now that we have a good ICS & sense 4 rom. The vibration on these new roms is much softer and I couldn't feel it with the weak type motor. It just made bump sound.
Damn, we should switch vibration motors. I actually prefer a softer one like how it was on the Evo 4G, but mine has insanely strong vibrations.

I agree with you on this. Mine was so strong it even felt like it rattled! found a solution though. Remove one of the scripts (soft or medium) from the attached zip file and place it in your init.d folder to decrease vibration. Stock value is 3000 but I adjusted the script to 2500 and it is close to perfect for me now.
Personally don't have a problem with that but good fix just in case

Could I increase my vibratory power with this script?

I would think that is certainly possible. Maybe increase to 3500. Try at your own risk since this is actually increasing voltage to the motor. i have no idea what the motors top voltage is rated.

That's awesome didn't know this thing was around. Lol I like a stinger vibration at least for the vibrate and ring the rest could be whatever.

As I type this I can feel a small difference in the keyboard, haptic is almost the same with 3500,which side of the phone is the vibrator on?? I'm charging and the part above the camera feels hot
Edit: just got a text, omg the vibration is strong! And I like it lol (no homo)

Dang it, I just purchased one to replace my old vibration motor (I accidentally left mine on vibrate for an alarm and slept through it for about an hour and a half) and realized it's the weaker of the two you described.

Vibration intensity

Hello ive got a Samsung galaxy s2 and just updated to ics. Just wondering if anyone else experiences a vibrate noise on the higher vibrate intensity levels, its not a general solid vibrate noise, more of a little rattle that goes away if you hold the top part of the phone. Although there's no rattle when you shake the phone.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA
yeah i noticed it to, i thought it was kinda, "ugly" is a word you can use,
to get rid of it go to
setting>sound>vibration intensity>low it down as much as you feel like
Do you think this is meant to be like this, I've read things about vibration motors, autofocus mechanisms etc. It just seems strange that to have a strong vibrate intensity you have to have this noise as well which will only go away by holding the top half of the phone

Vibrate Motor

Is it me or is the motor not very strong. I have the vibrate key press on and I can barely feel anything. Also today I had it on vibrate and I could not feel my phone ring. Am I the only one that thinks this?

Swiftkey lets you set the heptic levels and it does get pretty strong ..the ringtone vibrate is set pretty low in comparison
I have this same issue. It's because HTC in it's infinite wisdom decided to put the vibrate motor at the top of the phone near the camera. The S3 I came from however has the motor directly behind the soft keyboard so it feels a lot stronger and natural. They also use different types of motors oscillating v. rotational in the S3 and One respectively. The oscillating motor feels a lot more sharp and crisp IMHO. Unfortunately HTC most likely used the rotational motor because it's a lot smaller in comparison.
