Hi Everyone,
I heard good stuff about Clockwork touch recovery so I tried it but it doesn't seem to be as stable as amon_ra, but for some reason I can't re-install amon_ra.
From fastboot, I get this :
D:\Android>fastboot flash recovery recovery-ra-vigor-3.15-gnm.img
sending 'recovery' (7078 KB)...
OKAY [ 1.411s]
writing 'recovery'...
FAILED (remote: not allowed)
finished. total time: 1.727s
I think it has to do with my HBOOT but I don't know how to fix it. This is what I see when I'm in fastboot :
*** TAMPERED ***
*** LOCKED ***
VIGOR PVT SHIP S-OFF RL
HBOOT-2.25.0000
RADIO-1.22.10.0421R/1.22.10.0424R
What do I need to do in order to reflash amon_ra?
Thanks

Either unlock it (I suggest no) or flash my ics jb hboot
Or I could package you up a ph98img.zip with amonra
The third seems the easiest

I'm going to flash the JB HBOOT and then fastboot flash the recovery, if you think that'll work
Thanks x50 by the way!
http://db.tt/okaeeoHd
Open that up and drop the amon ra IMG there
Make sure the IMG is named recovery.img and zip it up, then flash in the bootloader

Awesome, thank you
You can also download it in an already zipped flashable file HERE Just make sure to rename it to PH98IMG.zip and after flashing you will have Amon Ra 3.15 installed.
does anybody still have this in a flashable format? (all links are dead)
Getting the failed remote error even after flashing jb hboot (or at least trying)

In my google drive...Ctrl-S to download. RENAME it to ph98img.zip and put on your ext-sd card. Boot into bootloader..ie. pull battery, replace, hold volume down, press power button. Bootloader will look for ph98img.zip files and should find this one if you renamed it right and then flash it. If it doesn't work, make note of any messages so we can help.

When done, rename the file!

Hi!
I have found similar problems in the forums, but none of the post seem to help my problem here.
My phone can't startup, it just continue to reboot after 15-20 seconds (showing the white screen with the HTC logo)

I can enter Hboot, have managed to get revolutionary CWM v4.0.1.4 on it. Tried a few different ROM's trough the Rev. tool - they seem to install fine, but I still can't start up the phone. Also tried to change my hboot by dl a (PG86IMG.zip) file, seems like it's installing/unzipping when I turn on my device (blue bar at the right hand side of the screen fills up to the top) then nothing happens. The version is the same and so on.
I know I have USB debugging checked and fastboot checked, but I cant turn it off as long as I can't startup my phone? - if this is what causing the problem? Any ideas?
EDIT: I also tried the factoryreset/wipedata/wipe cache from the revo-tool.
Thanks to steveruthless this case is now SOLVED - Thanks again!
how did you fix it?care to share how? thanks

I'm not 100% sure since i'm S-On HTC Unlocked CDMA version, but with S-On/ Unlocked, you have to enter recovery via fastboot command prompt (ie: type: fastboot boot YourRecoveryFilename.img ). The filename has to exactly match the filename you flashed to the phone AND the filename that resides in your fastboot folder (you have to leave a copy there, idk why). Once in recovery you can format system, wipe data, and flash rom's & kernels. If you don't enter recovery this way the kernel won't load and you will boot loop.
There are other options, such as JoeyKrim's Flashimage to flash the kernel first, then enter recovery by any method to flash the rest, or you can extract/copy the "boot.img" from the rom's zip, put it in fastboot folder and (type: fastboot flash boot boot.img ) to flash the kernel separately via fastboot command. Doesn't the first option to enter recovery via fastboot just sound more straight forward?
Note: I have some examples in my Guide/flashing notes thread (in my signature) that may help you understand better, but keep in mind its for CDMA version so none of the files I've linked will work with GSM, but the 3rd or 4th post for flashing roms/kernels should help.

Sorry for this taking so long guys..
I fixed my issue by simply using a cmd prompt and boot the img from the zip/rom you have downloaded. I'll try to my make a step by step here:
1. Boot into fastboot and plug in your usb
2. Copy boot.img from the zip/the rom you want installed) and paste it to your Android SDK tools folder. Prob: C:\Android SDK\tools
4. Open a command prompt in C:\Android SDK\tools
5. Write in fastboot boot boot.img the CMD prompt
Voila! Your phone should now be working again.
Whenever you try to flash ROMs always follow these steps , if you are unlocked via HTC method.
Boot your phone in bootloader > Select fastboot > connect to PC >phone should say fastboot-USB > open cmd > navigate to fastboot folder > put your recovery in that folder > pull the boot.img from the ROM you are trying to flash and put it in fastboot folder > then type "fastboot flash boot boot.img" > then type "fastboot boot recovery.img (your recovery name might be different so use that name instead) > Your recovery will boot > Wipe everything first > then flash the ROM.....

-Flashed stock RUU and it completes, but reboots into the bootloop
-Upload PG86IMG,zip onto phone. Updates fine and reboots back into bootloop as well
-Don't have a nandroid backup and can't get into recovery anyway. When i flash recovery through CMD i get the message:

ok now you take the rom and open it up on your computer and extract the file boot.img
copy it to the same place where fastboot.exe and adb.exe are located
go to your phone and hold in the volume down button and press power to get to your bootloader

then plug it into your computer

Interesting. You used the HTC unlock method and your phone is showing s-off. I was always under the impression that the HTC method leaves you s-on.
The reason I say that is because your phone is showing symptoms of being s-on. If you use 4ext set to s-on and try to flash a GB Rom, does it work?

Man i just tried this 3 times and no luck. I dont know what else to do. This is so wild.
I was running the latest TRON ROM from Neo with no issues for several days. Tonight, I went to use the camera and it FC'd. It kept doing it so I tried rebooting. It flashed the white screen with the green HTC logo and thats it, it won't go any farther.
I can get to recovery by pulling the battery and using the hard buttons, but recovery is not able to mount the internal or external memory. I cant backup, restore, flash a zip, or do anything really. How could this have happened? Am I bricked?
HELP!
If the phone does anything at all, it is not bricked. (The state it's in is sometimes called a soft brick, though). I believe there are two things you can do: either get an RUU (PH98IMG.zip) onto your SD with a computer (and an SD card reader EDIT: Or the Incredible you mentioned in the ROM thread), then boot up to hboot and let it flash, or try flashing a kernel (boot.img), ROM, or RUU using adb/fastboot.
If you have questions about the first of these processes, I may be able to answer them, but I probably won't be too helpful about the latter since I haven't flashed anything with adb/fastboot in quite a while.
HERE is the latest RUU, by the way.
Thanks, I'll try this out tomorrow.
s-on? Can you boot into the bootloader? Try reflashing the kernel via fastboot.
So I was able to get the latest RUU and flash it using Hboot. The phone booted up into stock. Great news!
However, I am now trying to get custom recovery installed again, but when I try to flash amon ra using "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img" I get the following error:

Just realized that, after doing some research...DOH!
Unlocked and good to go. Thanks!
So last week a friend asked me to s-off his phone for him.. The phone ended up bricking (recovery gone, no os, etc...)..

3. The phone has TWRP 2.4 installed
4. HBoot 1.33

7. eMMC-boot
8. The phone has a 4.1.1 based rom installed (Tried carbon 4.3 based, same issue and CM 4.2 based, same issue)
I have tried moonshine and face's s-off with no luck. I get about half way through with moonshine and it just sits there counting, adding periods.
I have tried :
1. Flashing a stock hboot 1.15
2. Flashing the stock splash
3. Flashing the stock RUU
Issues :
1. The phone gets NO reception Just the X with empty bars. I don't know if its the radio or something. Every once and a while I get 2 bars for a second but it goes away.
PLEASE HELP! I feel horrible that my buddy has to borrow my bionic until this is fixed.
when I tried the stock RUU from HTC it gets to a point and fails telling me incorrect image or seomthing like that.. Should have written it down, I can run it again if the error helps.

Every one learn everyday.
Download 1.15 stock hboot. Rename to PL83IMG.zip. when u renamed it make sure is not zip.zip cause this file is already zip so u try only to rename it to PL83IMG (right click the file in your pc and check properties to make sure windows got it already as a zip extension) and place in the folder that contains ( in ur pc) your android-adb folder*
there is where any zip should go, with the exception of user preferences location. (or different folder named by the user)
Step 1) adb reboot bootloader
Step 2) fastboot oem rebootRUU
Step 3) Command to directory containing your renamed hboot zip (i.e. C:\android-adb\)
Step 4) fastboot flash zip PL83IMG.zip
*** When it says it is done in the terminal/cmdprompt execute step 5 )
[The green bar only fills up about 75% of the way]
Step 5) fastboot reboot-bootloader
Profit. Put the RUU Folder in same directory. right click and run it as administrator
soff
W00t! S-Off is done.. HBoot time....

I wanted Moonshine S-OFF,'ve updated the firmware and forgot to unlock the bootloader.
Now I have the software version 1.15.605.1, but the HBOOT version is 1.33 wlan can not be switched on and the screen flickers often know clearly wrong boot.img of the software2.06 and the modules from 1.15.
and I can not unlock the bootloader also'm not unlock with my old Unlock_code.bin.
I know now no longer continue...

Today I had the same problem in my 10 minutes dna worked again
I am having issues with re-unlocking my dna. I tried using the RUU to flash it back to stock but I had some problems with the RUU (error 170). I tried rerunning rumrunner (which work fine the first time) and at the end it had an error and still read a relocked with s-off in fastboot. I need to know how to complete the RUU and start from scratch, or how to re-unlock it from where I am. Thanks for the help.
RUU is failing because of hboot.
But, you're s-off. So change your CID and unlock at HTC DEV

I didn't think you can use that method any more?
You can change cid if you're s-off

Would there be any particular number to change it to? Also would you please link me to a post with instruction on how to change the cid?
Boot into bootloader
fastboot oem writecid 22222222
Fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot getvar cid (should be 2s)
If so, go to htcdev and unlock
Okay so the dev unlock worked but, when it rebooted it got stuck onthe boot image and never fully booted. I left it on for a whole night. now when I try to flash/erase anything twrp is unable to mount anything. I tried wiping it with fastboot -w but is doesn't allow it. Is there any way to remount everything?
Run the RUU. You won't lose s-off. Then flash recovery, then rom.

fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip rom.zip
fastboot reboot

You need update your Hboot in order to run RUU
Flashing both Firmwares link below, will put you ready to run the latest Ruu.
Recall put both files in ur adb folder as the rom.zip too
follow direction on links 1 and 2.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=48680578&postcount=44
Download this Ruu as zip file to flashing in fastboot> Rom.zip *** Flash first Firmware1 and Firmware2*** above link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=48498759&postcount=1
additional: after running firmware1 and firmware2 IF rom.zip fail
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B32gqnbh2ZecYTlvV1dlZTVRS0E/edit?pli=1 RUU.exe move to adb folder >right click run as administrator .
Note: this RUU.exe worked like butter when the Bootloader is locked. no tested with unlocked bootloader.
It worked
Thanks for all the help,
I my phone is now working. I used the firmware links that finanandroid linked to and flash them. I then tried flashing the rom.zip through RUU but is was blocked (failed remote 24 parsing ). I then reflashed recovery (CWM) and tried wiping the cache to check and see if everything was mounting. It was. So I adb sideloaded cm 10.2 and everything is working great!
