I'm a Malaysian , currently using SG2.
Just wondering what if I flash Europe stock rom?
No problem provided you flash ROM for you're phone model.
That is i9100 to i9100 ROM
Modem might mot be the most suitable for your network and wrong CSC may require manual network settings . Language may not be suitable .

You can flash EU roms, no problem, but using EU modems for Asia, I wouldn't recommend.
Try DXLP9, it's from Singapore and works great with EU and Asia. Fastest stock ICS rom and modem.

CSC is the consumer software customisation and is specific to geographical region and carriers. It contains the software packages specific to that region, carrier branding and also APN settings for data connection, MMS etc for your service provider.
A CSC includes network settings if you actually open it .
Country>UK</Country> <SalesCode>O2U</SalesCode> <NbNetworkInfo>2</NbNetworkInfo> -<NetworkInfo> <MCCMNC>23410</MCCMNC> <NetworkName>O2 UK Pay Monthly</NetworkName> </NetworkInfo> -<NetworkInfo> <MCCMNC>23410</MCCMNC> <NetworkName>O2 UK Pay&Go</NetworkName> </NetworkInfo>
etc etc etc .

Strange, I never had to manually enter apn and I have flashed roms from around the globe.
Not only that, right now I'm runing with csc unknown with out issues.
Also tried few aosp roms, never had to enter apn for my country.
specifically flashed other region csc to get rid of the crap installed by the csc of the ROM.

I've never have any problem with apn or sms, mms setting when flashing another region rom..i'll automatically set when i've done flashing and can use 3g or mms right away..ever since i've got my s2, i never have to input the setting manually..currently i'm on f1 galaxynexus rom and i've tried a lot of rom, aosp, aokp, sammy rom...never had to worry about csc..

hey, im having trouble running checkrom.. after a fresh install, i have no 3g internet.. i can make calls, and connect to internet via wifi, but i just cant connect to internet via 3g.. so i think replacing my csc could fix the problem..
does anyone know where i can get my hands on a csc?
(dont know if it matters, but i use AT&T)
From the CSC post within the stock roms and CSC thread .

Check Intratech's thread. I would say you install one firmware with your CSC (depends on your region, not carrier) and flash the custom ROM afterwards.

Could be your APN settings, in which case Google them for your carrier and country.
If you were just looking for your CSC, you could have just used the search tool?

Try going to apn settings and press menu> reset to default
Hi Ive installed Westcrips rom 8.6 which is great but my CSC has changed from XEU to ODK and there is no option for XEU in CSC list. Does it really matter what CSC and can anyone tell me another CSC to use for UK cause dont have XEU in list. Thanks and what a great site
You can just flash csc package from intratech thread should change back to xeu but you might lose all your data

CSC is only a few files that list local network settings and its not required for the phone to work . Network settings can be entered manually ,

Hi
I'm just wondering if after flashing a new custom ROM (or indeed I started to mod my own rom from Wanam's de-odexed latest stock rom) should I flash my original CSC from 3Hutchinson UK (H3GALE4) or stick with the latest unbranded UK CSC? It's still unclear to me precisely what the CSC does?
Surely it is the radio/modem version that determines connection speeds/efficiency of the modem etc? Or could the CSC have special 3 mobile firmware for getting better connection with their network? - Or what I suspect is that it just loads the 3 network boot screen and installs the 3 app?
Thanks

Afaik csc file determines the country code and what apps are to be installed per country that samsung assigned, like bbc player for the UK. But it`s not that important to be honest.
Thanks,
So only the CSC is carrier specific? Radio/Modem is purely just firmware for the radio and modem? I ask because in the UK 3-Network transmit using UMTS (not GSM) on 2100MHz so I wondered if there was anything that could optimise this. It seems to me that ALL 3 phones in the UK use the NELE4 modem - is there a reason for this?
I'm on 3 in the UK had it for a few weeks now on le8 and le4 modem rooted and changed the kernel to siyah but don't want to flash a custom Rom yet for the csc reason and seen in a few places people losing imei number too is that them just being completely dumb tho and flashing incorrect roms etc?

I had read the same although I took precursive efs backup and immediate image of my initial stock. I've flashed through some nice ROMs but recently decided to make up my own from one of Wanams deodexed stock roms. However I have really liked the Omega rom so I may roll with that, but I have been reflashing the CSC to 3 H3GALE4 thinking perhaps it improves things for 3 users??? But I reckon moreliekly just provides the 3 splash screen on power up.
My interest in modems and/or CSCs is that my primary reason for the sgs3 is not so much a phone as my home internet provider as i live in v rural area yet with an anttenna I can get above 5mb/s whereas my land line can barely provide 1mb/s. So any modem/mod/hack which specifically improves this and perhaps even the software/driver behind tethering is what I'm keen on learning about.
Great phone though.
Amazing phone couldn't want more gui is so smooth I have from some where got on my internal sd a efs-backup.zip so I will back that up and try checkrom worst comes to I send it back

Well I tried Checkrom and that too is really really good. Prior to flashing a new custom rom I followed the instructions of flashing back to original stock and triangling away which worked absolutely fine too.
Yeah already tested triangle away works wonders with siyah kernel it dont even need to restart the phone great work on that chainfire

I'm sure whether or not I get terrible 3G speeds without the 3 modem or not
Poor speeds is often modem related try BULF1.
CSC can be copied out of original rom and replaced in a custom rom before flashing .
System CSC folder and CSC version text .
CSC is not required for a phone to work and is only a list of local area network connections on stock .

Been running Turkbey Custom ROM for a month now, and 3 mobile CSC was not available in this ROM but it has had no effect on anything and everything I do, and installed bbc iplayer and 3 network app automatically, so I agree CSC is not that important.

Thanks for info. I'll try BULF1 in my little ongoing tests.
Does anyone know of a custom mod/app that replaces the stock "tethering" software with a better one? I ask because I can get 10Mb/s mobile data connection on the phone but when I tether my laptop, that will only reach 4-5Mb/s. I want my phone to act as good modem router - seems the stock one isn't as good as it could be??
I'm on 3 UK, using Omega10, all modems included with Omega worked well, you can try flashing any modem, I'm currently on lg6

I've been at sea for anumber of weeks so I have only just caught up with this thread again. I have tried a number of modems (and given them a few days to "chill out"). All though I still do not have any quantative proof it *seems* as if the original NELE4 modem works the best - by best I don't mean connection speeds but in the UK without moving location I seem to get H+ more consistently whereas other modems would *seem* to jump between 3G, H and H+ more randomly. These are only thoughts - my observations may be completely wrong. WOndering if anyone else has noticed similar?
Even if I am not in the UK, I would like to confirm my understanding of CSC as I just found out that my phone's status is CSC: unknown after I flashed the newest 4.0.4 update for my region (TH, I9300T).
As I understood CSC does not impact the phone a lot, only the region specific play store settings and networks. Currently I face no problem with the phone at all, normal reception etc., hence would you still recommend flashing the correct CSC to remove the "unknown" status or just keep it like it is and wait for JB later? (I am aware that CSC flashing will format my phone)
Thanks

I really am not the best person to answer this I am afraid although does reflashing your CSC really format the phone?? I thought you could use ODIN to just reflash a CSC and leave the modem and FW intact but I may be seriously wrong so don't do it on account of what I've said! Hopefully someone will clarify.
As has been said by others on this thread (many thanks) I really doen't think the CSC matters that much at all - the only difference I notice between the 3UK CSC (H3GALE4) and a non-branded UK CSC is that I lose the Three logo on boot and BBC Iplayer and Twitter App aren't installed.

1. You need to download firmware for worth multicsc / the one for your region.
2. With 4.0.4 ROM, did you mean custom ROM or unmodified stock firmware?
3. If you really want to get a firmware with your country's csc code, then you have to post your country of choice/interest

So i think it's a CSC problem ? maybe with my carrier ?

No. Csc doesn't have anything to do with network signal.
Since your phone works perfectly, what do you want now?
I asked you some questions but you haven't answer them yet

Sorry by 4.0.4 i mean stock LPX but it has a NEE CSC .. So while surfing on internet with my mobile data, it doesn't work good ..
I just wanted to know if i can flash a NEE CSC firmware but change it to LUX ?
I'm pretty sure that's a CSC problem because when i flash a NEE CSC firmware with the same modem that used to work good on my old firmware it doesn't work .. But when i flash back a firmware with LUX CSC all works good, so now i want to flash LPX but it has NEE CSC ..
If your phone was branded (only one CSC) and you want to change it, than you must flash any stock multi CSC firmware (Odin will be the best solution in this case). Than you should change CSC manually with app or service code. You have already tried those steps but after flashing you must perform factory reset to rebuild csc system information and remove old csc from efs partition. Do this from settings menu or 3e recovery.
To fully remove brand and flush old CSC wipe is needed. Some informations about it are also stored in efs partition and sometimes flashing one file firmware doesn't change it.
If this will not help than you must flash 3 files firmware (which have included wipe commands in scripts). You will be able to change CSC without any problems.

Ok. Now I got your point but you must understand that because a modem works fine for you in your previous firmware does not necessarily means it will work the same way. That's why we have different modems out there.
For example, my original modem, XXKE7 did not work well for me after I flashed to 2.3.6 gingerbread custom ROM, but XXKI3 worked perfect for me. On upgrading to ICS it was XXKI4 that worked best for me and since moving to Aosp based Roms, XXLPW is the one working best for me.
I hope you get this now.
CSC has nothing to do with network signal. The same way modem does not affect WiFi performance.
90% of custom Roms out there have unknown/no CSC, and Network signals work perfect for people using them. You only need to find the right modem, this is not constant.
End.
To the main issue:
If you still want to flash the Rom with your country's CSC, then let me know your COUNTRY of choice.

Hello,
I own a samsung galaxy s3 gt i9300. I rooted my phone and stuck to stock modem for a while. I then flashed paranoid android 3.15 on it which still used the stock modem. Then i flashed omega rom on it which changed the modem I guess and now I cannot connect to my local number. My IMEI number is there so my EFS is secure ( I have backups of it too). I tried flashing XXELLA modem first since that came stock with the phone when it came. I tried multiple other modems like XXEMB6 and XXEMC2. But it wont connect to my mobile number. I live in Pakistan and bought it factory unlocked from samsung.
Can someone please guide me as to which modem to flash? This is a modem problem right? Because that means I can never flash custom software with different modems. Or is it a CSC problem?
This is the thread i used for flashing/downloading modems! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2076857
First attachment is the stock configuration the phone came with
Second is the new ROM i put in which is omega rom.
I even restored my nandroid backup of the stock working official samsung ROM. But still no connectivity. Someone help please!?

I checked the IMEI. Still there.
Sim works properly on another phone.
CSC settings I tried of many regions (through CSC changer app) from EUR to PAK to even MID (middle east)
As for modem, I flashed stock firmware from sammobile for Pakistan, the latest one, and it still refuses to connect. APN is fine according to network.
P.S. I dont know if this holds importance or not, but I did experience SDS. And my local repair shop (owing to the abysmal samsung warranty policy in pakistan) repaired it. But they did not change the motherboard. They changed the 'chipset' only and upgraded it to 4.1.2 firmware with the sds patch fix. Might be a stupid question, but could it be that the new chip hardware they put in is from a different region, so they had to flash a different regions firmware, and the answer to all my problems could be flashing the one they flashed after i ask them!?
Thank you!
