Hi There!
I am trying to locate something I can run on my tablet, phone and PC that I can copy and paste urls, pictures, etc, and instantly have it available on my other devices.
Kind of like a shared live clipboard, that can be set to only sync via WiFi (or 3G).
Thanks.
Dropbox can do this. I don't know about URLs but I think it might support it.
I had a problem with opening Office files on a PC after editing the files in Polaris on my Prime. I discovered a workaround so you don't have to start your document all over again.
You need to e-mail the file to your gmail account as an attachment and then view it in Google Documents. After opening it will say the file is corrupt but it offers the possibility to view it in Plain HTML and there is your document. It's not a perfect sollution but a reasonable workaround, you will only lose certain data but most of it is rescued.
I hope this will help you

I used Polaris to write a document in a meeting - a couple of lessons learned...
1 - did it really do that? I think that if I leave the app without saving it, it loses information. I have not fully figured it out but is that others experience? can I swap around apps and NOT lose data?
2 - trying to view the document in Word afterwards was really frustration. The worse item was linebreaks in the middle of words in a paragraph. Ultimately I started a new blank Word document and imported the Polaris version into it and all was well.
None of the Google Applications support external storage, Gmail 4.1.2 won't send documents attached from an external sd card, Play Movies & TV won't allow you to specify a external card as a storage location, pinned Google Drive documents can't be stored on an external card, Play Music sucks up internal memory. Try sending an attachment using Gmail from a Motorola Xoom, a "Google Experience Device" - it looks like it's attached during composition but won't send. When contacting support I'm told this is expected behavior - see below.
Anyone else running into this?
How do we get Google to support this? Most other email applications support it, but as a Google Apps Enterprise user I want and expect the native Android email application to work.
I use external storage on a Galaxy Note 10.1, Galaxy S3, Razr Maxx and Transformer Prime

Hi John,
Thanks for your message.
I have been able to determine the reason that you're not able to attach files from SD, as follows:
- The default storage path is pointing to the internal storage, which is supported, rather than an external storage path such as SD.
- The Gmail app itself, as it uses APIs behind the scenes, is not able to load attachments from the external path, only from the default (internal) path.
- I've been able to find an error that results when trying to perform this task, as follows (and as an example):
ERROR/Gmail(4494): file:// attachment paths must point to file:///mnt/sdcard. Ignoring attachment file:///Removable/sdcard/sample_file.pdf
In terms of /mnt/sdcard you see above, this is pointing to the internal/onboard storage. For '/sdcard/', this is actually a symbolic link which points back to /mnt/sdcard (the internal storage).
The removable (SD) card points to /Removable/sdcard, which Gmail cannot access via API, as this returns the internal storage location. The API also cannot access other directories such as /mnt/external1 or another location.
Based on all of the above, our technical teams have concluded that this is the current/expected behaviour for files coming from SD, as there is no way to access them via Gmail, and they can only be attached when coming from onboard/internal memory. In short, it is a limitation of the API John. From a technical point of view, it will be possible to attach files that are from SD, but are nested (sub-directory) inside /mnt/sdcard, however, I understand this may not be feasible or convenient.
I understand that this is an important distinction and requirement for you John, however, the above information is what I can provide you with. I will still suggest using the recommendations earlier of IMAP in Email application, or, files coming from internal/onboard storage in Gmail app over API (in the background).

I just tried on my s3 and managed to attach from the external and send here.

Hello Everyone!
Due to finding no Ringtones to allot to my new email, and only a lot of files in that location, I stupidly removed the files to see if the ringtones would then appear. They didn’t”! I now seem to have deleted most of my photos in my Samsung Galaxy S4 Active mobile Gallery along with all the recorded data on my S Memo pages. And, probably, many other items that I have not yet discovered as missing!
I have downloaded an App called DiskDigger for photos. It has pulled up over 1,000 photos, some of which are duplicates or more. On wading through them and choosing an awful lot to restore, I am given the following choices where to restore them to - Bluetooth, Email, 3 named emails, Save as, Save to Drive, WhatsApp, WiFi Direct. However, once again I found a problem as I cannot move the number of my selected photos to the apps as there are too many chosen photos. I therefore took the second option and selected a named file.
That done, I found that they had ‘miraculously’ appeared in my Gallery! A further search and selection will, hopefully, repeat that.
I then downloaded an app that supposedly recovers documents named, strangely enough, 'Document Recovery'! It has recovered some documents which are proving a little difficult to open successfully to read. They go to a blank page after the indication that they are - 'Loading' - 'Opening' - then nothing!
I would also seek advice about a way to recover the details previously recorded on the S.Memory pages, if possible, (an app that works like a notebook where text etc can be written and saved.) and how to successfully open the documents recovered by Document Recovery and placed in an automatically named “All Recovered Documents” file.
Many thanks in advance for any advice!
Regards,
Colin.
Hi, After so much googled i posting here that i am looking for a app which can sort the gallery by contact name specially for WhatsApp so i can transfer my gallery to computer by contact name which i can access in future easily. Pleas recommend me the app
Meh, I wouldn't wrap my contacts around a social app. Won't even let that app run on any of my devices.
You're setting yourself up to get nailed...
Let's arrange your post:
You have a contact in your phone, named Jack.
Jack sent you few pictures through WhatsApp.
You want a folder in your phone to be named Jack, holding the pictures he sent to you.
You want to copy WhatsApp media files to your computer, and want the folders to be holding pictures of every single chat on your WhatsApp, separately.
Is this what are you trying to say?
