Does anyone here remember when the Galaxy S II came out, it had a nice 1800 maH battery in it? The best thing about that battery, you could use it in your Epic 4G without changing your original battery cover. I have one in mine right now. The extra 300 maH actually gives me 12% more battery compared to the stock 1500 maH.
Anyways....
Is it possible to make a battery like this for the EVO LTE? Or do you think that was a once in a lifetime magical thing? As long as the battery has the correct connector on it, we should be able to pry our EVO LTE back panel off (and void warranty blah blah).
Give me some input.
I wouldn't mind spending $30 for a battery that gives 2500 maH and doesn't have to have a nasty bulging back piece to fit properly.

I'm assuming you do plan on purchasing this phone as you've created numerous threads on varying subjects. As a bit of advice, I would just consolidate as much of those threads as possible, because there will be people who will say something.
To answer your question, if you are truly buying this phone you may want to reconsider and/or do a little bit more research to see if it is the right phone for you. There is no removal battery. It is embedded into the phone itself so the usual buying a replacement battery won't work. Typically though a lot of phones by the same manufacturers used the same size battery so if one had a higher capacity you could just swap it and gain a little more power with the same size battery. There are even aftermarket batteries who claim they offer more mAH for the same size. There may be aftermarket solutions that require you to take apart the phone to replace the battery or hopefully we will get solutions like extended battery cases. Hope that answers your question.

There is no prying off the back panel. This phone has an all metal unibody (meaning the body is one piece). In order to remove that battery you'll have to take out the screen.

that is the one x. This phone is not the one x
You would need an external battery pack as this battery is not removable.
My point is that there is no way to remove the back u must go through the front as stated before and you would have to do a lot of work to get there, the LTE & One X are a lot alike. Same family.

I usually wouldn't care about the size of my G1 and adding thickness to it for the sake of adding battery life but as of late I gotten a hold of a nice plastic cover for my G1 which also doubles as a neato belt clip (for only 10 bucks... flirtin with them T-Mobile ladies does me good ).
Thus, now adding thickness to my phone in exchange for getting rid of this hard cover/belt clip isn't a option I'm very likely to take up and last I checked up on high capacity batteries it would add sigificant thickness like a 2100mah (or was it 2400 *shrugs*). Was wondering if there's any batteries that doesn't add to overall physical size while giving me better then stock life of just 1100mAh. Thanks!!
I know how you feel, I have a sexy ass neon green hard case for my g1, make it look sick. I had the same problem and tried three different battery retailers online for an extended life battery. The one that I settled on was the Andida: check out this post. You can find the eBay seller most of the people in the thread bought it from, good seller but ships from Hong Kong so shipping takes a while. I'd solidly recommend the Andida, I've had nothing but excellent performance out of it, considerably better than the OEM battery from HTC. Some people had mixed reviews about it, but in my experience, it was an excellent purchase.
I'm also using an Andida battery I bought off of ebay for just under $10, and it works beautifully! It's a 1600mAh battery with the exact same dimensions as the stock 1150mAh battery HTC provides, giving you 40% more battery life between charges without adding any thickness to the phone. It's the highest capacity battery I've found that doesn't require you to get a deeper back cover.
I've been useing the Innocell 1400mAh battery and its worked out quite nicely.
i use the regular battery, and it works for me 2 days, with lots of use and 3g use

Not necessarily lies. Battery life is heavily dependent on your particular rom.
Hero based roms seems to suck battery like no tomorrow.
If you are running a hero based rom, try running the latest Cyanogen rom and post back results.
I get a couple of days on my Fommy 1700 regularly.

edit:
Screw it, I'm ordering one, and I'll let you all know how it does. I remember how much I loved the heft of my treo 755p... still miss that phone sometimes, but the g1 does all the things that I loved it for and more, all it needs is the gigantic battery life, and now it may have it.

I considered this, until I realized all the hardware that I'd need to drop the voltage from 12 to 3.7 efficiently....
I did a search and couldn't find anything. Does anyone know what the largest size battery that will fit with the standard door is?
I too am wondering the same thing.
There is currently no other higher capacity batteries out there to worry about, so who cares?

I have no idea where you get your info but Google is your friend 100% of the time.
As far as stock door + bigger battery, I can safely assume it won't work simply due to the VERY limited room with the door on as it is with the stock battery.
1650 the mytouch 4g battery is the biggest that will fit in the standard door. Don't hold me 100% to that but that's generally what i've seen.
I'll have to check out the 1650 battery, thanks for the replies guys
So I bought one of the cheap Ebay 1800mAH batteries. I received it today & I pulled the sticker off the top of it & just like every other knockoff battery I've bought on Ebay it is not 1800mah. Underneath the sticker it says 1000mah.
Do not buy these batteries unless you want a low capacity battery.

[Edit: this user has sold like 350 of these things and gotten no bad reviews on it yet that I can tell.....so either no one's checking battery life before rating or else he's legit?]
So OP, the sticker thing--Mine look a lot like yours but if I try to peel off the sticker, I think I'm getting into the battery itself--metal and stuff seems be be underneath it. But the wrapper on mine looks identical to yours--should I try peeling? I don't want to damage the batteries...
Also, as to performance, what's the best way to test? I guess I can just reboot the phone and wait a set amount of time then measure the battery level (assuming no phone calls, etc)--but even then there are issues of network, etc. Maybe I should just turn off wi-fi, go into airplane mode, then watch 30 minutes of Tron and see where the battery is afterward?
I've got a battery app that shows the % life left and few other things (like how much juice has gone to the screen and specific apps, etc) but I don't think it does what I need it to. I'm willing to pay a few bucks in the market for a great battery monitor.
I have 2 from ebay that look exactly the same and they work perfectly fine, every bit as good as the one that came with it.

I got a few of these too and I pealed the sticker and mine say the same thing 1000mah (on the metal looking part). They seem to last pretty long though, maybe 75% of the original. this definitely sucks. Thanks OP for the heads up. I ordered the 2000mah batterys that just popped up on ebay yesterday (from Hong Kong) I will post back when I receive them.
I have contacted both the sellers I ordered from and reported this to ebay, waiting for replys.
Here is what you do!
Here is what you do. If you have a few hours to kill and it is what I did to test my 4G batteries I bought. I would charge the batteries and turn on a navigation app and select a location and let it constantly check and update until the battery dies. With the OG EVO it took like 4 and half hours. and with the siedio 1750 i got an extra 20 mins.
Also the extended batteries would not reach a full charge until SBC kernels showed up, heck the stock batteries didnt get a full charge either so maybe that could be why?
anyways, a lot of people scam others with BS claims on battery ratings on ebay I ordered a 2000 mah battery for my evo and i pulled the sticker and it said 950.
Buyer beware!
Becareful put cheap junk in your superphone.
Why try and run your Porche on cheap of brand 87 octane when it calls for SHELL 93? Yeah it may run but not as well!

Yes it is safe to pull the sticker off. Mine has the metal too as you can see from my pics. I didn't pull from the same part you started to pull from. I started on the back side. The black part. You should see where the sticker ends and you can pull them back from there.
This has been a scam on these types of batteries for a while now. It may seem like you are getting the same battery life, but if you are using battery intensive applications and radios you will see that it is not. With my OG Evo I had 4 cheap Ebay batteries that all claimed to be 3500mah, but none of them even compared to my Sprint branded 2600mah battery. It outlasted those cheapies by almost double. I am sure that maybe there are some legit batteries out there and maybe even on Ebay, but as far as I can tell every single one of these batteries is less capacity then claimed.
I am no expert on testing batteries. All I did was pull the black sticker back to reveal that the battery is 1000mah instead of 1800 mah as claimed.
I bought the battery from here: Ebay
no offense guys, but when you buy a battery that cost 5 dollars, when the oem batteries are 50; do you really expect the same kind of performance?
Now, I agree that the OEM's mark up these things at least 100%, but, you still can't expect top performance when you buy a no name battery as cheaply as they are on Ebay..

right! you get what you paid for, I buy these with the expectation that i'll use them as a backup battery, not as a primary battery that last longer.
in my opinion, even the name brand like Sedio or Mugen "slim extended" battery which cost an arm and a leg are still no better than OEM. even the bulky one don't have as much mah as they claim, although definitely more mah than oem standard

I ordered one from fantasy.bid for my samsung transform. And they sell the 1800 evo 3d batteries as well. But after realizing how hard the back was to get off, I am going to get one of these 4,000 batteries for 75 bucks!
http://www.seidioonline.com/product-p/bacy40hev3d-bk.htm
That thing is huge. I would rather carry a second battery and not deal with the heft. Yeah, you have to swap it out but I'd rather do that than carry that thing around. I didn't see the weight but that's a consideration also. To each his own, if that works for you i'm glad you found a solution.

I've been on battery 4hrs and am at 66% after using cardio trainer and listening to music for an hour... FWIW
I bought 9 ebay batteries for my original Evo and they all worked just as well as the OEM.
They last about 2 hours of heavy use maximum but for 12$ u get at least 5 hours of battery time ,so its worth it even tho the battery doesn't charge in the phone and it makes your status bar battery icon go gray with a line thru it
Even though the back of the Evo Lte is not removable, it technically can be with a tool. Do you think it's possible that an extended battery will be made? Or will we see battery case first?
I wouldn't mind seeing an extended battery that is not so huge it's ugly. Maybe like 2400 mah or something with a smaller after market battery door.
It all depends how much more they can fit in that size of battery before causing issues, and if the flex cable is the same. And if you could get a bigger extended battery, you would need a new frame, and hopefully everything works well so the battery doesn't crush the board/lcd when its fully put back together.
I'm just speculating, but I suspect HTC crammed the largest battery they could in the available space. I can't imagine why they would leave any excess room. Also, it's probably safe to conclude that replacing the stock battery with another one would void your warranty. If I end up needing more juice than what is already there, I will probably get one of those portable power packs that offer three to five thousand milli-amps of extra capacity.

Another one to look at is http://www.amazon.com/New-Trent-IMP70D-Thunderbolt-Blackberry/dp/B002D4IHYM/ref=cm_srch_res_rtr_1 - It is slightly larger, but instead of 500 mAh and 1A it charges at 2.1A and 1A, this allows for a lot better charging of pretty much any portable device, including tablets/ipad.
Anybody came across a good one?

Personnelly, I spent $10 and bought 4 spare batteries and a battery charger and I just replace on the go.
Most of these batteries they sell on Ebay are overrated in the actual mah capacity they claim. There is a way to check the mah with a meter and a small load and a timer but to me its too much trouble.
Some are good some are not. You are essentially buying a pig in a poke. They are cheap, not doubt about that.
Here is a lot I bought out of china. They sold these in a lot of 10 for $39.00 with free shipping. Took about two weeks for me to get them.
So, that's about $4.00 each. They seem fine.
http://www.dhgate.com/new-li-ion-ph...r-htc/p-ff808081321fe6450132294c18783c3d.html
As long as you don't charge them, they will have a long shelf life. Once you charge them then you should use them by cycling.
I only use 2 for now, rotating them out. If you play games or watch movies, the battery drains fast. I know its a pain to pop the back off and swap em but at least you can do it.
The new EVO 4G LTE, does not come with a removable battery. Once you run it down, it has to go on the charger. One feature I don't like about it. However, I think HTC is moving in that direction on all their future phones.
I like being able to change the battery. I used to listen with headset all day at work with my phone in my shirt pocket at the factory. I would have to swap out two to three batteries a day. I had a stack of them on another HTC phone I had.
.
Does anyone have an answer for my question?

I really hope your wrong. Although I wouldn't doubt it. Real stupid move. I'm gonna say it might really hurt them financially. This is one of the many reasons I've stayed away from that i-crap out there. I would have been one of the first on the waiting list to get the new evo 4g from sprint. I've been following that phone a long time. No quad core and lack of being able to replace a battery, no thanks.
I like extended batteries no matter how good the stock one is. My evo 3d stock battery is way better than when I had my evo 4g with stock battery. I'm rooted and runnin swagged out with the kernel it came with. I get 1-3 days of battery life with my stock evo3 battery. Can't wait till the end of the week for my new ext battery to get here. I'm really hoping I see 2-5 days or more. Not many phones will do that. Not even those precious i-devices those sheep love.

I'm going to guess and say they will fit just fine. I have the same charger and their pic shows it being flush with the top of the chatter. Plus it doesn't come with a extended battery back cover. Factory evo 3d batteries are 1730mah and those are 1900mah. Not much difference there. Its not like its a 2500-4000mah battery.

There is no being wrong about it. The phone is out. This is easy to prove.
I've played with it. The HTC rep at Radio Shack had one.
The battery life is tremendously good on the phone especially giving the size of the screen. However, like I say when its dead or almost there, it has to be on the charger. You cannot simple just swap in a fresh battery. Ain't happening on that phone. And I agree, big mistake for HTC - I reckon they're counting on the fact they've add enough bells and whistles to get you to overlook this.
I've always had an idea for a battery. Why can't they make a battery like a capacitor. Where it would charge up in like a nano second and discharge very slowly as needed on demand. That way, when you need to charge it, you'd just walk over the charger, zap it for 2 seconds and unplug it --- good to go for another few days.
Also what every happened to fuel cell powered cell phones? They told us that one fuel cell would power the phone for 20 to 30 years without ever charging. Science fiction I guess.
Even the new film type screens they're working on will require power. Even if you can get the screen as thin as a dollar bill and flexible, its still going to require a battery.
