[Q] Remove Parentheses from Phone Numbers?

So, I recently bought an unlocked SGS2 (I'm a US AT&T user) and it seems that ALL the numbers in my contacts list are stored as (xxx) xxx-xxxx which apparently is invalid because I get sending failed errors every time I try to text one of those numbers. If I edit the contact and reenter the phone number, it is stored as xxx-xxx-xxxx, which works. I have somewhere north of 200 contacts with at least 1 number each so I REALLY don't want to have to reenter all phone the numbers...any solution to this?
EDIT: For anyone who runs into this problem, I found a lifesaver of a solution in the form of a $1.99 app called: Google Contacts Formatter...it has a lot of different formatting options, so it could also be useful for people who move from the US to an area where formatting is different. Link here.
Huh, that pattern supposed to be exist in US! Anyway, no need for an app, just change your phone language to English UK, done.

[Q] contacts with country code not displaying name

I am using Dual Sim China clone phone of HTC Incredible S (Model No. S710F). The OS is android 2.3.9. The problem is described below:
All my contacts are stored in international format. ie. with country code (eg. +1 xxxxxxxxx). when I receive any call locally, it display only the number of the caller. His number already available in the contacts with country code, but he is calling locally (from same country). But if I receive any call from abroad, it displays the contact name correctly.
I am residing in QATAR. Is it related to the service provider? Is there any fix available to solve this issue?
It would be very much appreciated if someone help me.
Thanks in advance.
Can you provide screenshot?
Understood your problem. Just wanted to see more clearly
Accidentally sent from my Google Nexus S using XDA Premium
I am having the same issue, but reversed.
I have contacts saved in my phone without the country code (+61 here in Australia)
Incoming calls and texts on the latest ROM I'm using MIUI V4 ICS (SGS2) don't display the contact, just the number including the country code.
In my last ROM which was MIUI also but 2.3.7 all contacts where recognised fine but regardless of country code or not but now it wont.
Is there a known fix for this, short of updating all my contacts manually.
Or is there a way to batch change all my contacts?

Part of your problem is that there was no android version 2.3.9. That is a custom knock off version that tends to come on those types of phone.
As for these issues best bet would be to ask on MIUI site as no development for MIUI is done on XDA.

[Q] Smart Dialing Problem with ICS. Possibly a bug

Hi. I tried several rom including MIUI and Official after ICS Official were released.
The problem is
I usually save my close people contact number in international form
e.g. +61412345678 and +6628888888 so when I am abroad on travelling or business trip, i can text them back easily.
However, with ICS, when I call these contacts for example 028888888 from (contact saved as +6628888888), the phone won't recognize the contact name. The same problem exists when they call me.
Is there any fix on this?
No such problem in GB for me.
Known issue in Miui V4 for contacts which have a country code in the saved phone number. No idea about stock ICS.

SMS contact issue

Hi all,
a few day ago,I update my phone via Kies to ICS 4.0.3 (T-Mobile Germany) and after that, every time I get a new SMS from someone on my contact list, it only shows the number of the person and not the name on the SMS list. The problem is that the all contacts are saved as xxxxxxxxx , and when I go in my contact list, number are saved just like that but shows in xxx xxxxxx, with space between and after three number, number of area codes. One of the solutions is to change contact, first edit number and put space after first three, and save, but it is a hard work.
Does anyone else been experiencing this and is there any way to fix it? Can't really see why the update caused this, just seems weird, and hope there is a way around it or just wait for a new update? I also hope that someone will find a solution to format and fix contacts!

Facing the same problem on Galaxy note, Stock 4.0.3
I'm facing the exact same issue on the stock ICS on Galaxy note , build IML74K.DDLP8 .
Contact names do not show up in the call log/message log.
I have Whatsapp installed and have ~250 contacts synced with Google contacts.

[Q] Problem in messeges app

Hi all, after flashing an ICS ROM for the first time, when I receive a messege the contact name doesn't appear it shows me the number with the country code prefix, I didn't have this problem when using GB ROMs, and I don't want to re-edit about 500 contacts to add the country code to it.
note: contacts names appear when they calling me without the country code prefix.
any fix for this ??
why not use another messaging app?
