Swapping the TF300t back plate on the TF201 possible? - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

Does anyone know if it is possible to swap the backplate of the TF300t and put it on the TF201? My prime suffers from poor wifi and wondered if it would be possible. I saw them both at Best buy and they looked identical. I really like the prime but cant stand not being able to connect to wifi's at hotels because not in range.

likely not..it wouldn't fit right.

The other question is...where would you even find a t300 back plate?

Also the TF300 doesn't have a flash from what I remember so it would also cause a problem there.

i have a 201 and 301 sitting right in front of me. Though very similar, ports and slots are in different places just slightly. It would take a lot of work with a dremel just to get the holes to line up, let alone compatability in connecting everything.
On the prime EVERYTHING is connected to the back case, thats where everything is fastened to. Take that out and you got nothing.
Sorry but without extensive modding this just can not be done.

Just thinking for the future, I wonder if the TF700 and the 201 may be closer and maybe a better (future) option than the 301 to 201??
I know this is under the firmly under the speculation category.

I believe the Prime's Wifi pogo connectors aren't on the back side, in fact they are on the front. I read on a guide that you can press the bezel on the front camera side to improve Wifi and possibly GPS connection.

Pics for where to solder to fix the mini usb issue?

Hi
My phone is starting to get the dreaded connection problem with the usb port. Currently I have to find an angle where it will actually charge it. Its getting quite annoying now and I noticed that its a common issue and its generally due to poor soldering. I was wondering whether its possible to fix it yourself as my phone has a number of cosmetic blemish's which will cause SE to ***** about how its my fault etc. As my lecturer would say they are "ensuring that the **** falls on someone elses head". Anyway it would be handy if someone could highlight where to solder exactly by just circling it in a set of pictures. Here is a disassembly guide you could use.
Thanks for any responses and I'm sorry if this has been posted before.
n.b. my lecturer was talking about ensuring your code has enough validation etc to ensure that the program doesn't fail as a result of poor programming. I realise that the comment may seem quite dodgy out of context when he was describing defensive programming.
This post might not be much help, but I suppose it'll get the gears turning.
Well, I took a look at it and, at least in my X10, I have some red looking hardened glue blocking the connections to the main board of my USB port, so I can't be very specific here. Though, I imagine you'd have to take this glue out and there should be probably 2 connectors that link it to the main board.

Slow wifi speeds

Has anyone had very slow wifi speed on there tablet? Side by side my phone blows away the NT pretty much all the time.
Sent from my Samsung Epic Touch 4G
I get this as well. Not always, but sometimes. I'm connected to a linksys n router.
Sent from my Nook Tablet using Tapatalk
I did a test 2.6GB file copy over wifi onto a NC (NT has same antenna type & placement). Sustained throughput was 11 Mbit/s, as opposed to 18-20 Mb/s I get from my notebook. [10' distance from router, 1 floor and 1 wall intervening.]
So, about 60% of "optimal" throughput, which is pretty good for the tiny PCB antenna. Hopefully, Android will allow user-installable USB drivers at some point which will allow for more powerful external wifi.
Pic below of built-in antenna is from the crappy iFixit teardown. The circle-with-dot thingie is the U.FL connector to connect the pigtail. Actual antenna is the teeny block beneath the U702 print.

Tip: Don't cover the antenna with your hand. It's at the middle of the top edge when held in landscape mode.

With the "N" to the right or the left? Most of my apps work both ways and being ambidextrous I have a poor sense of what might be considered "normal". I'm guessing "n" to the right.

Yes.

[Q] Screen Broken - Advice

Good Day All,
I am in a bit of a predicament. On Saturday, I had my phone in hand and heard a *crack* (I can only suppose my subconscious telekinetic powers were left on), looked down and noticed that there was a somewhat small crack about 1.5 inches up from the back capacitive button all the way across to the home cap button. Basically making any key presses in that lower region of my screen and cap buttons unusable.
I just watched the YouTube tear down video and I'm curious as to if I purchase the Touch Digitizer Screen Assembly(See pics below) will this cover everything that I need for the replacement?

I found a US supplier on eBay with it for $170.99 with a decent ship time (4 business days).
--I have noticed that Most of the non-ebay suppliers are out of stock on the digitizer all together.
Any suggestions/advice is much appreciated.
can't u just take it to a fixer it's the safest way if ur nervous

Click to collapse
Because the local "fixers" are gonna want to charge a markup on the actual screen/assembly while still adding on for repairing the damage. Versus actually buying the part myself and giving it to them to fix(Which is also a probably option).
Have you contacted LG. I heard they do the repairs too. It's obviously much safer and I think cheaper.

[Q] HTC Amaze 4G, screen pixelating...paper weight???

Hi Guys
So, I had/have this very little insignificant problem (compared to what I have now) about my Amaze not connecting to my PC properly
So, I decided, since I have had some experience in disassambling "things", I thought I'd take a look inside and see if my USB port in the phone wasnt broken, fortunately it wasn't...
However I didnt think of testing another cable(very, very stupid of me), so I concluded that it was my cable ( i found that out by testing another cable only AFTER I had disassembled it)
But thats only where my troubles started, since I have had some experience on taking things apart I figured it wasnt a biggy but when I put everything together again:
Imagine this filling up the whole Screen (without the mouse cursor of course)

}
However, the device booted u fine, I could adjust the volume and actually hear the volume been adjusted, etc.
But the screen showed those pixels(I do not know what you call it when that happens, screen pixelating???)
The only thing I could think of is,
Where the black dot is, I thought it was a clamp so I (by accident of course) broke a piece of plastic off revealing metal wires, but the area of the proken off pice is no larger thean the middle of a pin head
I tried various ways, trying to figure out what caused this but I have no idea
btw. I also updated my 4Ext recovery to 1.x..x rc9 (latest release and did no restart after)
I am not sure what happened but ill probably pull an all nighter, trying to fix it (in some or other way)
Any help/advice would be appreciated!
p.s., please dont tell me Im an idiot for doing that, I know I am...it cost me $260...!

Dead area on Nexus 9 screen

I've run into what I think is the same problem with two different new Nexus 9 tablets, from two different sources, and I'd like to find out if this is a common defect with the Nexus 9 in general. In both cases, let them run all system upgrades to the latest version (6.0.1).
With the first tablet, I first noticed that I had problems pressing and holding (to move icons on the home screen) near the left edge (USB connection at the bottom). Tried a bit more, and found it only intermittently registered touches in about a 1cm wide vertical band 1cm in from the left side. Sent it back to Amazon, ordered a replacement from a different affiliate.
Second tablet came, I let it install updates, and got the same problem. This time I installed a touchscreen test app, used the "paint" mode (draws a pixel wherever you touch), and after sweeping my finger pretty thoroughly over the screen, saw an obvious mostly-dead bar in the problem area. See attached image.
Has anyone else run into this? Known Nexus 9 issue? Could it be a software problem, unlikely as that seems? Any help or advice would be appreciated. I want a stock Android tablet badly enough to give the Nexus 9 a third try, but not if I'm probably just going to run into this again.
