So I've tested out the leaked versions of ICS and I'm quite satisfied with the performance and how smooth the phone operates and with most things about it in general. I was wondering however, the unlock screen for the ICS as seen in most pictures is a little different than the one included in all the leaks? Is there any info on if the unlock screen will be different in the official release?
Right now we have the ring that you have to pull up to unlock the phone or pull it towards one of the shortcuts to use them. The ICS unlock screen I am talking about is the white circle from which you have to pull the little circle from the middle to the right to unlock the screen.
The lock screen that comes with the leaks is referred to as the sense lock screen. The AOSP lock screen or ICS lock screen can be found on most custom roms, not sure if you can flash a new lock screen in recovery or something, but I'm sure someone will chime in who knows better.

You should be able to rename htclockscreen.apk to .bak and reboot and you will have the aosp lock screen. Or that's how we did it on gingerbread

You need to have root. Use something like Root Explorer and use the RW button before making the change.
I do have root, i used *su* command hence the # prompt sign instead of $

Also download "no lock" to disable the stock lockscreen
What's 'no lock'? I thought just using a lockscreen app would get rid of that one and put another one I want?
Yes, it puts it "on top", but doesn't completely replace out like out works with home launchers, abd eventually, the stock lockscreen pops up on top of your custom one.
No Lock disables the default keyguard so you can use a custom one without issues.

Be careful, once you use no lock the genius button can wake the phone and place calls.

If you are rooted, you can remove the HTC lockscreen app from /system. The default froyo lockscreen is just being overridden by that app.

Rock on! I always hated that lock screen! *presses easy button*
I would also add that a reboot is necessary.

I used root explorer to move the htclockscreen.apk and the odex files to my sdcard, got the standard froyo lockscreen. Moving it back didn't put the htc lockscreen back though, I still have the standard froyo. Now that I got rid of it, I kind of want it back, lol.
Actually, this may be a problem, I may need to exchange my Mytouch. Even a factory reset doesn't do it. I've wiped and restored it, still have the stock froyo lockscreen. The files are back in system/app, but I can't get it back somehow.
Try re installing the apk in the root folder, the n reboot, I haven't tried , just a theory
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
Tried that, nothing. I may just need to find a stock rom to flash now.
Did you reboot it after install
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
It wouldn't let me install, "application not installed". And yes, I had it mounted r/w. It's in there, it just isn't seeing it.
I tried, same here, I even tried fix permission in rom manager with no luck ...

Hmm, I think I should bring this up as a separate thread, this could be an issue if anyone needs to go back completely to stock.
Quick question though, do you ever see the left slide bar missing every now and then? Sometimes when I turn the screen on the left slide bar is invisible, but it shows when I touch it.
4 shared.com search for "go to .apk"

Yeah the left side did that to me too, luckily I did a nandroid right after root, took me back to stock. If you didn't, do that next time!
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
once this is doe is there anyway to get a picture on the background of the froyo background
I uninstalled the htc lockscreen on mine but I did a nandroid backup beforehand, and after doing that I just did a restore and it came back to working fine, don't know if that helps anyone out any
I'm using lockbot pro to change the mytouch standard lock screen to the froyo style lock screen. The problem is that I still have to unlock the standard screen and then it gives me the froyo to unlock. How do I disable the standard screen so I only get the one I want?

Use WidgetLocker Lockscreen. It is the best 2 bucks I have spent in a long time!! I am rooted but you dont have to be to use it. It does help though. My avatar pic is my lockscreen. I run it with no slider and a time delay on a button unlock it. It has lots of options for several types of lockscreens and other stuff also.
If u want the stock froyo lockscreen just go into system/ apply then delete the htclocksreen.apk and it will restore the froyo lockscreen you don't need nolock or anything else

You need to be rooted and s=off to edit/delete/add anything to the system file. If you are temp rooted and/or s=on you cannot use just the AOSP lockscreen.
I use the app: lock suppresor with the lockbot pro app.
works for me
Anyway to do it right now? I want it completely gone and just want to use Widget Locker.
I think can delete it with root explorer and replace it with the aosp one

There's an app for that...
it's called NO LOCK in the market. I use it and go back and forth between the lock screen and then no lock when I want to eliminate it.

YOU complete me. Thank you.
Can anyone help me out with finding an app or mod that can disable the lock screen altogether? I've tried the No Lock app in the market and this makes my keyboard extremely sticky and laggy after some time. Even using Widgetlocker renders my keyboard unusable. My keyboard gets sticky whether I'm using the Gingerbread keyboard, smart keyboard or even swiftkey. So what I've gathered is that tinkering with my lock screen at all will make my touch screen buggy. Does anyone know of a work around so that I am able to disable the lock screen and get to my home page as fast as possible? Thanks much.
If you're rooted, try going into the system app and renaming the htclockscreen.apk. I wouldn't delete it, just rename it to something like htclockscreen.apk.bak or something. In theory it should work and will get rid of the lockscreen all together. You can find it under system>apps>htclockscreen.apk
Thanks for the response. I'm currently using a senseless rom which means that I'm using the vanilla gingerbread lock screen. However, I have made the mistake of uninstalling all of my lock screens before and I was just left with a blank screen when I would power up my phone from sleep. Do you think that renaming it will have a different effect?
I'm not sure. I haven't used the gingerbread lockscreen in a while :/

Use tasker. There is an option under display to disable the lockscreen.
I have a profile set for "driving" that disables the lockscreen among other things.
Oops nevermind.

This produces the same results as all of my previous attempts . Regardless of keyboard, the keyboard becomes less responsive and It takes much harder presses to get a letter to register.

This is the first app that I tried and the app that I used to use on every reboot with my Evo 4G. Doesn't work as well on my 3d however.. I'm surprised that I'm the only one with this problem. I've tried using no lock on a fresh and stock rom with no custom apps installed ,and that didn't work either. Maybe I just touch too lightly when typing? Although I notice no problems when my lock screen is enabled.
Lol dog44 that's the same thing I said until I read the op post again.....oops.
Try using "touch screen booster", it seems to help some people with typing issues.
I got to thinking. Go ahead and look for the lockscreen apk in the system files and rename it. If it does give you the blackscreen you could just rename it again and it will put it right back.

Ok, I tried this and it worked, but now I get the Android lockscreen? The one where you slide the lock icon to the side to unlock. How do I get rid of that one?
Hello I was hoping someone would be able to make a transparent pattern lockscreen for me. I don't want to be able to see the dots at all I want it completely transparent
also I am using twisedumbrella's aosp rom
Sounds like a terrible idea to me. If you mess up that pattern lock enough times it will completely lock your phone down. At least that's what I thought.

well I use the same password and pattern lock so i'm so used to the location of the buttons that it wouldn't be a problem. plus if you can't get in you can unlock it with your gmail

You can download an app in the playstore that removes the the pattern feedback that you're drawing to unlock your phone.
Basically, all it shows is dots.

I prefer the dots so that I don't mess up the pattern. Lol. Mine is kinda complicated, even with the dots.
(Always remember to wipe your screen off so you leave no prints. I enjoy unlocking my friends phones for fun and watch them freak out on how I knew their patterns) Ha.

Yeah the dots are very helpful but I think I would look really cool if you could just draw your pattern on a blank screen and have it unlock
