Sounds like you need to flash the ph "patch" file to use ics Rom. Your still on a gb ruu.
I would suggest reading up on how to s-off
Then upgrade to the latest RUU. there are tons of post in the first link of this forum

Wrong section, please post threads like this in the Rezound Q&A section.
You need to flash the GB kernel either as a PH98IMG.zip in the bootloader or flash the boot.img with fastboot. Because your phone is s-on, recovery can't restore the kernel on it's own. Once you have it fixed, I would also recommend you use Amon Ra for recovery, not CWM.
Wrong section, but it appears that you may need to fast boot the boot.img for the gb rom you are trying to run, if you have not tried this already.
What mjones said lol... beat me to it
as i remember i tried to flash stock 2.3 ROM with it came PH98IMG.zip, but when i tried to flash it after rom it say older version or something like that.
i know that i am on wrong place and excuse me for that one more time but i am really in deep **** because i own money to person i need to fix it soon please guys can u provide me with right things, like give me a link how to s-off wothout turning on phone, and give me the right PH98IMG.zip and stock rom. Please guys i know that it is very hard but i am really in bad situation :
Flash this zip in recovery and then try to flash the PH98IMG from bootloader afterwards....The zip i posted should now allow you to do so.
I also suggest doing more research and reading up on things before attempting them on a device you are unfamiliar with.

now i am trying to update my phone with this 2.01.605.11 Gingerbread EXE RUU
from my pc but it finds some error.
now i will try from
PH98IMG.ZIP
i will tell what will happen.
what i find so quickly if i want to flash any rom i need to be s-off, only one way to make s-off as i saw i need some wires am i right? or is there any other way?
no other way, only one s-off method.
if i were you i would
1. Relock the bootloader.
a. boot into bootloader
b. go to fastboot
c. on pc navigate to your fastboot files in cmd line
d. type "fastboot oem lock"
2. Reset mainver
3. Run the latest leaked ics Ruu
4. Install amon ra 3.15
5. In amon ra go to developer section and install super user (regular not eng)
6. Unlock the bootloader
7. S-off the phone - http://unlimited.io
8. Flash amon ra 3.15 again
9. Reformat your sd card because it most likely got messed up from s-off
10. Install ivysaur 3.2
a. go into the pkmn tweaks and turn the boot animation sound off
b. make sure everything is fine and dandy and there you go
Look into each step further make sure you know what your doing.

I downloaded the T-Mobile RUU but with this RUU i can't downgrade to GB.

Hey man...
I have the EXACT same flyer, everything the same... Did you manage to get it s-off and rooted back to Honeycomb?? I have read all the forums, but I actually can't find a clear solution! Lemme know please or if anybody can put it simple! Thanks!
custom rom for flyer with stock hc
These steps would help :
- unlock boot loader over htcdev
- flash cwm with fastboot
- with cwm you're able to flash any custom rom (zip files)
It worked at least on my htc evo 3D.
Hey,
I have somewhat of the same question - but remain puzzled... I unlocked the Flyer's bootloader yesterday through HTCdev, flashed a Revolutionary recovery (based on CWM) through fastboot and could then install SuperUser through an update.zip in the stock ROM.
I have mode some development on other devices, so I'm familiar with bootloaders and stuff. The forums are mostly talking about S-OFF and I don't really understand how that concerns me, because now that my stock ROM is rooted, I can do whatever I like (remove bloat etc.). I may not understand all implications of S-ON, but I know that my bootloader tells me my Flyer is S-ON.
Now, is there any problem to flash another ROM through CW Recovery? Will, for example, LeeDroid's ROM replace anything connected to 3G (I have the model running on AWS frequencies, which are quite unusual). Could I simply flash LeeDroid's ROM, then get back to my stock backup without any problem?
I guess the question is; since my bootloader is unlocked, does S-ON or OFF concern me in any way? Or is S-OFF only important for those who can't unlock their bootloaders through HTCdev?
Thanks!
(I do promise to write something up for the wiki if ever I understand
S-On means you can't flash a custom ROM through recovery or ROM Manager. You can only flash using fastboot.
Thanks!
So considering that I just tried to downgrade to Gingerbread in Windows and that I got Error 155 (which seems to be undocumented - the message was à la 'something went wrong - I don't know what'), can I restore CW recoveries through fastboot as well?
I wouldn't mind to plug the cable, and S-OFF seems like an unnecessary hassle to me... (I just want OpenVPN and from here I took as much time trying to figure that out than I would need to compile the module myself).
I guess what puzzles me is this (from the LeeDroid thread): "If you have acheived S-Off via HTCDev, you will need to extract the boot.img from the Kernel.zip and flash it via fastboot"
I don't have S-OFF. I have an unlocked bootloader.
Does that mean that if I want to switch to LeeDroid I first have to fastboot flash boot.img and then install the rest through CW recovery?
Similarly, if I want to get back to stock, I fastboot flash the boot.img from my backup and apply the rest through CW recovery?
Thus: S-ON actually only prevents the boot partition to be changed outside from fastboot?
Thanks again!

Hm. I just did full restore with CW recovery.
And I had already applied update.zip's with the recovery.
ADD: SOLVED. What I wrote in the post above was right. I can apply any zip file, but CW can't write boot.img. Solution: fastboot flash boot boot.img.
All the rest works. In order to get back to a backup I guess it's the same way - flash boot.img, apply the restore.

I have searched "Amaze how to revert to stock" from within the forum and google as well but the answers came up so confuse and not very clear. So I dare to oen a new thread here asking for help. Somebody else might looking for the same thing.
Basically I want to go back to T-Mobile Stock Gingerbread. I have:
Hasson AllinOne V3.1,
PH85IMG_Ruby_TMOUS_1.43.531.3_Radio_1.08.550L.19DC_30.66.550L.08D_release_228638_signed
How would I safely going back to stock?
I know I have to flash the PH85IMG_Ruby_TMOUS_1.43.531.3 via fastboot as the last step but what step should I take first? Flash the stock bootloader first or flash the stock recovery first?
Any advice would be appriciated
Im S-on so idk if its different.
download this: http://www.filefactory.com/file/c0d...19DC_30.66.550L.08D_release_228638_signed.zip
idk if its the same one you have but just download it just in case, and RENAME IT to PH85IMG.
AFter that put it in your sd and boot into bootloader and then fastboot so it reads that file. then just click yes to the update and you are set.
^^ will that "update" revert EVERYthing back to s-on, shipped bootloader and recovery?
Will it revert the radio as well?
You might need to run the Mainver Error Fix in the all-in-one toolkit. It "spoofs your software version so you can downgrade your ROM."
Hasoon can correct me on this if I'm wrong.

Just flash the stock file you have via hboot by renaming it to PH85IMG and placing it on your sdcard.

If you're on ICS, you cannot revert to GB, so your best option would be to flash a custom recovery, 4EXT recommended and look in the dev section for Hasoon2000's thread of stock zip files, download the carrier file that's for your device and flash that via a custom recovery, since T-Mobile is the only carrier we have bootloader flashable ruu files.

I actually meant I was flashing to stock ICS. I just posted here for sake of simplicity. I have all of this ready to go already. Recovery and stock .zip. The only problem left is that the Mainver Fix in Hasoon's AIOT doesn't detect my device. I heard the fix for this is enabling USB Debugging, but I cannot do that since I get a permanent whitescreen after I boot up my device, and I've unlocked/relocked my bootloader and it reset the USB Debugging option. I feel like I'm pretty screwed at this point. Definitely not giving up, though.

Relock your devices bootloader, put the device into fastboot, get hasoon's tool ver 3.2, or whatever the latest atm is, relock/lock the bootloader command.
rename that file PH85IMG exactly like that, put it on your sdcard, not your phone memory, do not extract it or place it into any folders, reboot into bootloader, volume up to update.
Let it boot completely at least once before attempting to root/flashing a custom rom.
Going for it. Thanks for the help so far. I'll report back soon.

thats what it says, i downloaded the s-off tool after i had this problem. i can get into fastboot and Hasoon's tool v2 works for caommands as far as reboot and what not. the s-off tool wont work because i need it to be able to boot. im thinking if i can just get a RUU and maybe get it to reboot into whatever the first white screen is called with the details from above, then it should flash and boot so i can start over....... the whole process here is similar to the one i used from when i had the HTC Inspire 4G. it was all included in one bundle tho.
and flashing a kernel is a nogo. tried that and its still looping on the HTC screen
also, nope i didnt flash a ruu yet. it was on 2.3.4 before i started.

So...
all you have to do is fastboot flash a boot image.
Since you are S-On and trying to flash a rom ment for S-Off, you can run this rom, but you will need to pull the boot img from the rom and fastboot flash boot boot.img the boot.img file.
Plenty of threads on how to do this. Search button is your friend.
Just s-off now so you don't have to worry about fastboot boot.img files ever again
i cant get it to boot period to get the s-off to work....
so, say i have the miui rom and i unzip it, after i do and look into the folder, teh boot.img, its the first one? fo i need to rename it? also, i just put it in the root of the external then reboot bootloader? when i do that it says a bunch of looking for pm98 something or another...... wait a minute, i think i just answered my own question.... brb
s-off only requires the phone to be able to get into fastboot.
if you can get to the bootloader you're good.

Hey guys I am looking for a little help. I had an IDIOT error.
I have a rezound that I put a custom recovery and unlocked via hosoons tool. Then I flashed a custom Rom (newts hybrid).
Well I started reading about how its easier to flash etc if you are s-off. So I tried restoring my stock unrooted backup. While restoring it failed and I came to find out its because I needed to also restore the boot.IMG. so I went to try and find it and my backup was gone! I have went thru internal and external its no where.
So I reflashed the Rom and boot IMG the correct way and am now running that. So my basic question is am I sol? Am I stuck on this Rom?
Thank for any help.
Sorry for the crappy type out I am at work and just got time to write this up. I will update what I get home.
P.s I did a lot of searching and couldnt find anything.

S On you say...
It's as easy as extracting the boot.img file and using fastboot to install the boot.img file.
Open up the ROM you downloaded and extract the boot.img file.
Place the boot.img in the folder where you have fastboot, ex:
d:\phones\rezound\bootloader\andriod\
Boot into recovery; flash your ROM; boot into the bootloader; then run fastboot from the command prompt:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
Good luck and have fun.
Thanks for your reply! But how would I go about getting back to stock? I understand the boot.IMG flashing procedure I just didn't realize it was necessary to restore a backup and now my stock back up is not available and I have no idea where it went so I am running the Rom I stated above with no way to go back to stock.

You don't have to go back to stock to change ROMs. You can just wipe and flash another ROM (including whatever kernel comes with it).
But yeah, if you want to s-off you should be stock. Although now it seems even if you are s-on flashing the kernels is automated. I just flashed EclipticRez and it had me select s-off or s-on, I picked s-on and it made the PH98IMG of the kernel and went to hboot. I just had to say yes and delete the file afterwards.
But you can get back to stock by running the RUU found here:
http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/0...ull-ruu-build-4-03-605-2-for-the-htc-rezound/
You need to put this on your external sd card, rename it to PH98IMG.zip, relock (fastboot oem lock) and reboot. Hboot will find the file and start running it. Let it run through several times so it gets all the files. It will reboot you once it's done. Then you'll need to unlock again and flash a custom recovery and then you can make a new nand of stock to make it easier to get back to it.
Also, there's an OTA that just rolled out so if you don't want to be bothered by it just don't put the back door on so you won't connect. There's a thread about it in General, seems to be new radios and who knows what else.
But don't you have to be s-off to flash an RUU? Also can you put amon ra recovery on your phone with s-on?

No, you just have to be locked to run the RUU. I'm still s-on and I just did it last night. Then I flashed Amon Ra and then a ROM.
s-off was a later discovery so RUUs and custom recoveries were being flashed by everyone when they were s-on until someone figured out how to s-off.
So while I'm on my Rom I can relock and flash the ruu? Do I need to put the recovery back to stock or will the ruu do that?
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using xda premium
The RUU will do that. All you need to do is put it on your sd card if it's a zip file, rename it to PH98IMG.zip, relock and reboot.
I am sorry for my ignorance but I need to relock first correct?
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using xda premium
Yes.
Save anything you need off both cards. Pictures, music, etc... any files at all.
Make a nandroid of what you have now in case anything goes wrong. (I'm sure it won't)
Relock the phone in fastboot:
fastboot oem lock
Put the RUU file on the sd card and rename it to PH98IMG.zip
Reboot the phone into bootloader (hold vol down then press and hold power until you are in hboot)
Phone will find the PH file and run the RUU. It goes through it a few times. The screen will go dark a few times during the process and it will go through updating after each of those times again. Just let it run it's course and it will reboot your phone when it's done. Delete the PH file if it's still there. (I used my orig 16gb card and popped in my 64gb back in as soon as I did it so I didn't check if it was still on the 16gb card or not, but if it is it will run again so make sure it isn't.)
After that you will need to unlock again using your unlock token. If you don't have it still you can get a new one. I just keep mine in my flashing folder on the pc so it's always there if I need it.
Use this command to unlock:
fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin
Then flash your recovery:
fastboot flash recovery nameofrecovery
Root
Make a nandroid for going back to stock whenever you need to
Flash ROM of choice.
Good luck!
Hey thank you so much for your help! For some reason my phone eouldnt read the PH98img file. So I had to use hasoons tool again and flashed the file that way. Ran it twice and bam back to relocked stock! I really appreciate all of of your guys help!
I do have one more question. Do you have to be s-off to flash amonra recovery? I have read where you don't and where you do...
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using xda premium
No, you can flash Amon Ra while s-on. Everyone did before s-off happened. I'm still s-on and I just did the whole RUU thing, Amon Ra, new ROM a couple days ago.
Don't forget to make a nandroid of stock right after you flash Amon Ra.
Thanks again! What Rom do you recommend?

I'm glad I saw this thread, because I'm in trouble.
I've been running an ICS rom with the gingerbread patch. But tethering never worked.
In an effort to get tethering working, I flashed the new CM10.1 JB rom. Phone stuck at HTC screen. Did some reading, realized I needed to yank the boot.img out of the zip and fastboot it in. Did that, didn't help. I spent 4 hours last night trying every conceivable order of events. rom first, then img. img first, then rom. img via fastboot. img via PH98update file. Nothing works.
I put amon ra on and started all over again. Ugh. My old Sprint Evo was a tank for stuff like this, I swear you could put anything you wanted on it and it would run fine.
Anyway, I was going to come on here and ask if it's possible to go S-OFF with a stuck phone because it's all I could think of.
But now I will try this relock, ruu, unlock, amon ra, root method.
Here goes another 8 hours.

Good luck! Post back if you have any issues. The RUU took me about 10-20 minutes.
After you flash Amon Ra and root make a nandroid so you can easily revert to stock if needed.
Back up and running. The instructions were well written and easy to understand.
Thanks for all the help!
However I think this time I just want to go straight to S-OFF. I did the htc dev unlock last time, I have no idea where my token is.
I guess I'd rather go all the way and s-off so I can try that JB rom again without worrying about seperating the boot.img file.
So is it possible to s-off my phone with the RUU listed on this thread? And phone currently locked?
Another question. I don't think I've flashed any firmware which means my phone is still running GB firmware. Does that mean I need to always run the GB patch when running IC or JB roms?
Good to hear!
The RUU will have gotten you to the latest firmware if you used the global one at android police.
As to any s-off questions, I'm still s-on so I would get that info from someone else. I don't want to say the wrong thing and get you in a bad spot. There's a long s-ff thread in the general section and I'm sure if you just search you should find the info you need. Or else there's a help thread also in the general section where you can post questions or actually, probably find the answers you need.
Keep this handy for next time:

It works similar to dumlock.
I unlocked my rezound with htcdev site. Installed twrp recovery then I try to install any custom rom and the phone starts to boot up and stops. I tried clockwork mod and amon ra recovery and I get the same results. For example the xp sense rom gets to the beats audio logo and stops loading. I let it sit for a half hour and would not go further. I'm sure I'm doing something wrong. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
You're still S-ON, righr? You need to boot to bootloader and flash the kernel. It's probably already on your card as a PH98IMG.ZIP file.
My name's Harold and I'm a flashaholic.....

It's not on there, where can i find it? Thanks.
Anyone please?
Assuming you are S-ON, and assuming (further) that you flashed a ROM that has an alternative kernel flash for S-ON versus S-OFF (check the OP, it usually says whether you have to be S-OFF or not), look inside the zip file for the ROM. Sometimes the kernel is already inside as a PH98IMG.ZIP, sometimes it's "generated" during ROM flash (after which you have to reboot to hboot to flash it).
Reread the OP for your ROM and see what it recommends. If it's S-OFF only, you'll need to flash a different ROM that lets you flash if you're S-ON.
That did the trick.
