[Q] Auto switching off Wi-Fi when in standby - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

Hi! I'm an new owner of an Xperia S, and am really proud of it!
I was just wondering if there's a way to automatically turn off Wi-Fi when the Xperia S is in standby mode. I found that keeping the Wi-Fi on while the screen is off drains the battery quite significantly. I know turning off the Wi-Fi manually is an option, but I always forget to do so.
On my previous phone, the LG Optimus 2X, the Wi-Fi automatically switches off when the phone's screen is off in about 5 minutes.
Are there specific kernels for the Xperia S which supports this?
Thanks in advance!

You can use "juice defend" in play market to do this

go to wifi settings and in advanced there is an option to turn it off while the screen is off.

option available in wi-fi settings
go to settings/wireless & networks/wi-fi settings now tap on menu (right end capacitive button) then click on Advanced/wi-fi sleep policy there you find options
1.when screen turns off
2.never when plugged in
3.never
i think you should go for option 1

Wow! I didn't know of that hidden advanced menu. Thanks a lot guys!

Screen..

Hi
Strange one, when I select internet the screen dims and when I come back out it goes to the correct display brightness. I have checked the settings but cant see a reason for it . Any ideas ?
Cheers

All sorted.......found setting.
There's a brightness adjustment inside the browser menu, it's likely that one of the power saving modes is checked in there, just untick it.

[Q] Wifi toggle button greyed out

Hello,
There is a problem with enabling wifi on my Galaxy S3: How can this be reproduced on my device?
For saving battery I switch wifi on and off regulary. But after a few times this toggle button, which is available when swiping your finger from top to bottom of the screen (which is normally light green or dark grey) turns into dark green. When going to wifi settings there is a message "shutting down". So you can not choose "scan" nor "wifi direct" nor enable wifi,...
The only way to work around this, is rebooting the device.
Any suggestion to solve this in depth?
ps: I have tried with power save off (*#0011# methode) but each time after rebooting this setting is back on and wifi works (few times).
Thanks for your advice!
Regards,
Hans
It happens to me
It recently started happening to me too. I think I will blame it on the siyah kernel... what kernel are you on?
I have this problem too, running stock JB ROM rooted.

Wifi turns off when screen is locked

Hi I just got my tablet z and the first thing i went to check out was the wifi so i noticed that the wifi radio turns off when i lock the screen for a while but then resumes right after i unlock it.. i changed the option in the wifi advanced settings to always keep the wifi on during sleep and it's not running stamina mode
am i the only one encountering this problem?
thanks!
Use Better Wifi On Off if you want more wifi management options.
Personally I prefer wifi to be turned off when screen turns off for battery drain.
I know I can use 3rd party apps
But I don't want this problem to plague my tablet
My nexus 4 rooted with faux and pa doesn't have this problem and even though it looks like the settings for keeping Wi-Fi enabled even when the screen is locked is right the Wi-Fi still turns off after a while with the screen locked which shouldn't be happening if I'm not mistaken

[Q] Wi-Fi problem

Hello
I've got that ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2346939 and I've got a WiFi problem. I turn off WiFi, but if it senses there's WiFi connection available (whatever its locked or free), it turns on and notificate me: free wifi network available blablabla...
How can I fix it?
(Sorry for posting it there, I'm a new member, and I can't post it that topic..)
Thanks,
Cole
go to --> settings>wi-fi>advanced and uncheck 'Network notification'. (to get into advanced just press menu button and press 'advanced')

Click to collapse
I dont mind about the notification, I dont know why WiFi turns on automatically, without my request...
Anyone have idea?
Well, do you have a battery saver app?
Wi-Fi is a huge battery drainer and most of them shut down wifi when screen locks and re-enables wifi after screen wakes up.
Also are you 100% sure you turn wifi off before locking screen or anything else?

B320 & B330, Wi-Fi doesn't reconnect when screen is off

In Marshmallow B320 and B330, if the screen is off, Honor 7 doesn't look for known wifi networks in range to connect to. In Lollipop it does.
Scenario: I come back to my home with Honor 7 in my jacket. In my home I have a WiFi network WPA2/PSK configured and working. Until I switch on the screen, the smartphone doesn't connect. After 2 seconds I bring on the screen (locked or not, with fingerprint or power button), the wifi icon appears and it confirm "XYZ network connected". This happens also if I have the option "Wi-Fi active during suspension" (in Wi-Fi advanced settings).
Once reconnected, if screen goes off there is no problem and Honor remains connected. The issue happens only in reconnection if I exited and entered back the coverage with screen off.
Same Honor 7 with previous Lollipop and/or other smartphones and device have not this behaviour and get connected as soon as you are in range of wi-fi, with or without screen on.
The strange is that I don't find other people with same issue...
Same here! But I have no idea how to fix it.
I think it's an energy saving option. Try this: (my phone isn't english so i I tell you the steps) go to settings, scroll down to something like 'special settings' (It has a grey gear icon), then look for something like 'battery manager' (you will see how much running time you have) and tap the gear icon in the upper right corner. You will see an option for wifi and you can choose from 3 options and go for always on. Hope this help
