I have the Tab 10.1 and its rooted. But instead of flashing one of the roms available for the tab 10.1, I would like to flash a HTC Sense rom. Is that possible? If so, How can i do that?
(this might be a noob sorta question, but then I am a noob at this)
You can't. HTC roms are for HTC devices, Samsung roms are for Samsung devices and so on... Each device has different hardware. Only roms for galaxy tab 10.1 work.

If you port it it is possible of course. But you can't install/flash it "as is"!

Is there a website for forum where i might be able to get instructions on "porting" ?
Thanks for your responses.

Well, you're on xda! What better place to search? I bet Google has some answers too. But I am no expert. I can't be of any more help

Wasn't there a tutorial posted not too long ago on porting in the main page?
I'd like to know if the camera will work in this port. Also, will it become an HTC camera?
No, because the camera uses Samsung drivers.

OK, but you didn't answer my other question: will the camera become an HTC camera?
Tried to root galaxy tablet 10.1; followed all steps and was able to root my first tablet. Problem was I had no 4g only wifi. Does anyone know where I can get the correct rom? Also I notice that some of the newer 10.1 tablets have 4.0 firmware.

Hey I have an original Galaxy S and thinking about getting the new beast. My main question is it possible to port touchwiz 4 to the Galaxy S 1? I want to try it out and see how different everything is. Would any of you possibly like to post it?
Its already ported to the i9000 and captivate http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1050666
How about the Fascinate??

Have you taken a look in the Galaxy S forum? It's been ported already and there are rom available with it included. Have a look there.

Once you guys get a gingerbread rom then im sure it will be.
So like when we get CM7?
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA Premium App
Cm7 is aosp, no touchwiz in it at all. You'll need to wait for samsung to release gingerbread for your phone.
hey guys,
i'm currently doing some research for the 14 y/o brother of a friend, whose parents have just allowed him to get a smart phone.
i only ever bought nexus devices and would recommend him the nexus s, but unfortunately his limit is ~180 euro and the nexus s is ~270 euro here in germany. thus i need some advice.
he can't decide between the galaxy ace and the wildfire s. which one would you pick? i'm looking for things like easily unlockable bootloader, stock android and cyanogenmod support. but those things seem to only be found in older, cheaper devices.
what would you say has the best bang of the buck and is future proof and could possibly get cyanogenmod support?
thanks,
x
I would go for the galaxy ace because it has more development.
Sent from my HTC_A510c using xda premium
yup, that's my observation so far. there's even an unofficial cm7 port for it.
until i can come up w/ an official supported device in the price class, i'm gonna tell him to go for the ace, or if possible pay 100 bucks more for the nexus s.
Yeh galaxy ace if you want to root it, wildfire s has not been cracked open yet so has very little support

any samsung phone will fit the bill

Not true .
galaxy ace..
samsung updates their firmware fast compare to htc..
I would go with ace.
However i found only one issue where you will need to remove the battery to get it back to work. When you enable the wifi and leave the phone idle for a long time, the screen goes blank and none of the button seems to work. You will have to pull the battery to fix it.
Lol looks like someone prefers form over function.

I was just saying that not any samsung phone could "fit the bill" .
Galaxy Ace for sure. It has more support, plus, he's 14, I'm sure he and his friends will care about the looks a lot. Teenagers are very judgmental really.
Im new to samsung tab but have rooted HTC thunderbolt, can i flash any of the roms here or are they specific for my model-GT P7510? thx

Make sure you choose one specifically for the GT-P7510... basically for the wifi only tab.

Can't flash a 3G rom on a non 3g because that would be silly.
On another note, majority of the ROM's are based off the Non 3G versions.
Hi guys!
I'm a newbie developer who has just started with kitchen and some porting guides. I got an idea but i don't know will it work or not.
My idea is to port note2's rom to galaxy s2 (or any other device - s2 is my device) to get multi-tasking feature.
Is it possible to do it with porting guides in xda or do i need some extra info for that?

So you want to port the note 2 stock ROM to the sgs2...not gonnna be easy as the hardware is COMPLETELY different... not impossible...but you'll need major coding experience, time, and patience...
It will probably require kernel edits, framework and other system file edits...let's see if someone else more knowledgeable has anything to say...I don't have much experience with porting stock ROMs...only aosp

Porting note2 rom will be difficult. But I can provide you the frameworks that has multiwindow...1.multiwindow.jar 2.flashbarservice.apk 3.android.policy.jar (You need multiwindow folder actually from android.policy.jar...)But wont it be added by sammy in jb release???Note1 is rumoured to have it

So, as i understand the problem will be hardware compatibility. So if galaxy note 1 get this multitasking feature, might it be easier to port to galaxy s2? As i know, the hardware is same with g2.

Add me on Gtalk if you want help. I ported Gnote rom on Nexus S. Send me an MP
I have recently installed the newest version of Paranoid Android to my Samsung Galaxy S3 i9300 and it is awesome!!
The only pain in the ass thing about it is the camera app it comes with. I think it's one taken from HTC which apparently people love but I think it's useless! I like to take panorama shots and the app is pretty awful for it.
Anyway, what I would like to know is, is there any possibility of getting the stock S3 camera apk? I have installed a version of it from 4.3 which has the ability make a 360 shot but even that camera isn't too good. I think the one I had was from a stock 4.2 Samsung Galaxy S3 rom.
Thanks in advance!
