On the latest GB update I have a constant red circle with a small white exclamation over the pull down wifi notification. Does anyone know what that means?? I have looked without any luck. My open wifi network notification is unchecked so it isn't telling me I have an open network available. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Vinny
I think it means there's an open network available. It's not the same as the option you have disabled, which I presume will "notify" more obviously when there's one available. In this case, you have to look for the notification. When enabled, you'd be told in the Notifications screen.

This is correct. Simply means there is a wifi network available. It does not represent an error.

I have a slow but free 3g for my contract, it was working fine for months with my android phone, and about 2 weeks with my lumia, but now it refuses to work normaly. Everytime i try to load a page, it says "cant open webpage" but it works after a refresh. Its really annoying. I guess its the problem of IE...i have to say it sucks as much as on desktop. But there isn't any other for wp7, is there? Or is it possible to turn of https? Its really annoying too... we have a free fb (facebook zero, 0.facebook.com wich has better speeds than m.facebook.com) but everytime i try to open a page it warns me its not https and i have to confirm continuing to the page.
Also if I try to turn on HSDPA it restarts and its still turned off, any idea?

HSDPA is still on even though that trigger says off. Don't worry about that.
Can't help you with the other stuff though. Guess it got something to do with your 3D connection itself? It might be bad. I have never had as good network coverage as I have with this phone. I have data connection were all my Androids have failed me.

its working, but in 99% only for the 2nd attempt, it really annoys me
push messages arrive very lately (if they do) anything that use 3g is very slow

Go to Marketplace, and select "Nokia Collection". In the list of apps, install "Network Setup" and run it to apply your network settings.
unfortunately nothing changed. i even tried doing a factory reset but nothing, it still loads webpages for the 2nd or 3rd or even more try
I've noticed that whenever I go somewhere and I'm near another wi-fi network my phone saves it in the available networks. The problem I have is it won't remove ANY of them that I'm no longer near. I've got 20+ listed and several are points from across the city I live in. I can't figure out how to get my phone to purge the list when a network isn't close by.
Any advice?

When you click on them, it doesn't give you an option to Forget them?

No. The only ones that will allow me to "forget" are the ones I have saved. The ones that are stuck are ones I've never accessed.
Ah ok. That's a rather strange behavior.
Maybe something like this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.roamingsoft.manager could sort it out? Not really sure. Hard to find info on this particular quirk due to the keywords bringing up a million other wifi issues.
Thanks for the help. The "Wi-fi Manager" works great but the stock wi-fi manager is still screwy.

No problem. Better than nothing, at least. If you had an iPhone or Windows phone that was being weird like that, you'd just have to deal with it.

New update dropping today!
Details:
https://www.att.com/esupport/article.html#!/wireless/KM1086930
Sweet, they finally pushed WiFi calling to the S7.
That explains why the security update took longer than usual, AT&T has been knocking them out the first week or so of every month till now.
Thanks, downloading now.
Installed on the regular S7.
So I updated (took about 1 hour to download and update). Immediately I noticed 3 things:
1) A notification with a link to a Display Settings dialog with the option to change DPI between Large and Small. "Settings-> Device->Display->Display scaling" will get you there later. This dialog box is not new; previously you could only reach it by adding .DisplayScalingActivity to Nova Launcher. What used to be called "Standard" is now called "Larger". What used to be called "Condensed" is now called "Smaller".
2) Wi-Fi calling was added to my quick notification settings. It is turned off by default. Toggling it on brought me to a setup wizard asking me to update my physical address for emergency 9-1-1 service. "Settings -> Connections -> Wi-Fi Calling" will get you there later. A very small "+" appears within the standard Wi-Fi status bar icon when Wi-Fi calling is ready. Both my Wi-Fi and cellular signals are strong yet the icon comes and goes. I initiated a Wi-Fi call to voicemail and it asked for my password, which does not happen for cellular calls.
3) Android security patch level: July 1, 2016
Scaling is standard in U firmware and also via a display scaling app in the play store. Just an FYI

Perhaps, but this update added it to the stock AT&T firmware...finally,
Flashed stock then updated to this. Even wiped first. Advanced messaging is useless unless someone else has it. Connected to wifi since setup and it hasn't once shown the icon wifi calling is available.

I'm highly considering going without root. I do think battery was slightly better stock as well.. also I really miss Samsung pay.. and there isn't much to do with Xposed.. I got the notification bar to display network speed and AdBlock..oh and call record is nice but not necessary... other than that, not much to do with root on this device unless someone can fill me in..i can install trebuchet and Google keyboard without root.. also I miss being able to sign into my chase app with fingerprint..

I tried to test the wifi calling out and turned on airplane mode and then turned wifi back on. It shows the wifi calling symbol on top, but when i try to make a call a notice pops up telling me I have to turn airplane mode back off to make a call. It seems that it should make a wifi call just fine with only wifi active? Has anyone else tried this with success?

Well it's very strange. I did several power cycles (on / off) and cleared the cache in recovery and it now wifi calling seems to be working in airplane mode. It's working for now with both calls and texts. I guess its just buggy. Hopefully clearing the cache did the trick.

Do you have a quick setting for data? I do not. Or do you mean through the mobile data settings menu and turn "mobile data"
off?

No one is brave enough yet lol, although it should work fine. Some of the other carriers received updates and were still able to root.

Hi Fellow ATT S7E Owners,
Some of us have chosen to stay Stock on this phone. My primary reason is not tripping Knox and using Samsung Pay. I have been trying to fix most issues or workarounds:
1. AdBlocking
2. Mobile Data toggle
3. Package Disabler to turn down the bloat
But for us ATT users, there is this annoying continuous notification that pops when we turn off data for the first time, after a reboot, EVER IF, we have WiFi on ! It goes, "Mobile data is turned off."
Googled and researched ways of getting rid of this annoying message. Wondering if any of you had success with it? Getting all of us to talk about it to see if there is a solution, thank you!

There is very simple solution . Turn your data on. If you worry that you get overages turn off some background data for apps. When you on WiFi your mobile data is not in use.
For all the hype about having control over your notifications, not being able to change this one is super annoying. I'm also guessing AT&T is trying to get us to us as much data as possible so they change charge us more.

It shouldn't have to be this way, if I don't want data on, don't you agree? Why have needless signal processing or searching when I don't need something? ?

Tell me about it bud! Wish we had a way to slay it... For people wondering what this is, I'm attaching a screen shot...
The only way to get rid of it for now which is not very fun btw, Swipe right on the notification until you see the gear on the left and tap the gear. After that tap "phone" with the green icon next to the word "phone" and then tap "force stop".
So far that's the only way to get rid of it.

Thanks, but couldn't that endanger us getting a phone call, necessarily 100% of the time?
any news ? any way to disable it permanently ?
Interesting. I've never seen this on my S7E & I have mobile data permanently off.
Is it solved yet???

No Sir it was never solved and I moved on to the S8+.
The Theme I was using was called, "Red Strokes" I believe with custom icons and a wallpaper.
Hope someone cracks this!
Galaxy s9, Android 8.0.0 here. Following worked for me, check if it works for you:
1. Go to Settings
2. Go to Developer Options
3. Look for "Keep Mobile data turned on". Uncheck that.
And hopefully, voila...
EDIT:
This method does not work anymore...
1. Settings
2. Apps
3. Select Options, then Show System Apps
4. Locate "Phone" (Maybe there will be 3)
5. Select every "Phone" App that you find and select "Force to Stop"
and the message dissapers.
(If you restart the phone you will need to do this again).
