so here it is, a once and for all......
BATTLE of LAUNCHERS
Go Launcher Ex VS Rosie VS Apex VS Nova VS ADW VS GDE VS ZEAM VS Ts Shell VS 360 VS Spb Shell VS Panda Home VS Launcher Pro VS Launcher7 VS Android Severn Pro VS Launcher (default)
Let the battle commence
please give your reasons why
Go Launcher Ex, with Go Notification added on, also, skinned ics/cyanogen
Go Keyboard, skinned ics blue with arrows
Go Contacs/dialer, skinned ics blue
Go SMS, skinned ics blue
by far the most customizable, and superior launcher ui, ive tried, with loads of advanced features in all of them above, regualr updates, and hundreds and hundreds of 3rd party add-ons
Using nova launcher right now and I like it. Works really good. Before ICS I used adw ex and launcher pro.

I'm using golauncher aswell, would be using others if I could, half these new launchers aren't compatible with sense 3.0

NOVA
I have never been a fan of launchers, I like sense everytime I set up a launcher I would always go back to sense. I have found that I really like NOVA and have been using it now for a few day and I think Im actually gonna keep it.
I havent tried Apex though... going to go dl it now
Voted for Rosie as it's the funnest to theme along with the widgets. Plus in Sense the 3D effects are much smoother than launchers with similar transitions (and it looks better imo)
Go launcher Ex. I like the widgets and themes.

I am back on ADW EX and still feel it offers the best UI with hidden dock, gestures, customizable, widget resizing, etc. Dev support is now pretty much dead unfortunately.
Still love Launcher Pro Plus. He made some great widgets, but not quite as good as ADW. Again dev support appears dead.
Go Launcher is very good, I just got sick of the bookmarks widget switching back to navigation. For a widget lover like me it's alot of options. Great support.
The ONLY thing I like about Rosie is the widgets. Best in class widgets. Can't customize, number of home screens,... Without a scrolling dock it won't suffice for me.

Used ADW alot when I was on gingerbread. But since switching to ICS I went from NOVA to Apex. To me Apex just seemed smoother.

One more for apex here...
here is my own personal rundown:
1. Apex
2. GO L EX
all others in my opinion lack the functionality and clean ass look of both of those. GO launcher was the only one I would even touch before ICS was available for the 3D. Apex is designed for ICS imo because it is the only OS that will run it cleanly.
Downside to both is that they are memory hogs. Apex launcher accumulates memory usage over a period of time (I have seen it as high as 60mb) but a quick restart cleans it up to 30 or so.
Rosie for me. The whole sense experience has it's detractors but it's one of the reasons why I even looked at an HTC phone. With 3.6 and 4.0 reducing the bloat and cleaning up it makes it an even more attractive option.
Yes sure it doesn't have the flexibility and functionality of other launchers but the look and the amazing widgets IMO plays a large part in making our phones stand out. It's always nice to have the choice though.
I dont think that any launcher can beat Go Launcher Ex. Simple it's the best.

I have been using Lightning Launcher on all my devices for quite a while now.
It's blazing fast and incredibly customizable, just not as intuitive/user-friendly as popular launchers like Go Launcher.
You can have a desktop that's freely scrollable on both x and y axis. There's support for widgets, but scrollable widgets are harder to use in said free mode, obviously.
It's one of the very few launchers that's written from scratch and is not based on the stock aosp launcher. Give it a try if you want to see something new. Just don't expect the same level of user interaction that Go Launcher of even TSF Shell offer.
It takes some time to get used to it, but in my opinion, it's perfectly worth it
The best launcher after "htc Sense" is Apex
I've been using MiHome for ics. It works nicely.

Using mainly go launcher ex, but I have nova, sense 3.6 (Sensation 4g) and apex on my phone and I have been slowly but surly setting them up. Nova is fast and buttery smooth and so is apex but I like nothing beats the customization of go launcher ex for me.
Nova launcher ftw

Voted for Rosie, the reason why I choose HTC devices is sense, HTC without sense will make no sense
For me,Sense is the best!

I didn't like either because I thought they were buggy but with the latest ROM I'm using it came with Launcher Pro v0.82 and I actually like it now, no bugs at all so it was probably one of my other apps before, which I haven't put back on this time.
i have never been a fan of ADW because of its laggyness but ADW Ex is amazing!!!!
Adw ex all the way, launcher pro has got A LOT of catching up to do no more lagging, 8 different animation types for switching home screens, Profiles to choose from, and the organization is incredible.

I use ADW on my Eris, (since that's what Conap put in) but I prefer LauncherPro on my Archos tablet b/c of the widget resizing/rescaling. I havent tried the ADW ex...yet...
I prefer Launcher pro because of the sense like widgets it comes with. It has also worked smoother for me than ADW.
Everyone needs to Try adw ex way better than launcher pro and the stock adw, just watch the you tube videos on it. You'll never go back to lpp, TRUST ME....

How does the speed of ADW Ex or Launcher Pro compare to HTC Sense?
HTC Sense is obsolete compared to those launchers. There both fast but right now I prefer adw ex its smoking fast, you tube adw ex and watch what's in store with it

I was a lancher pro fan until I tried ADW ex. HUGE improvement over the last time I tried regular ADW. Still waiting to see what happens with the complete rewrite or LP, but for now I'm gonna use ADW ex.
ADW Ex is blazing fast though Launcher Pro is no slacker either. Performance wise, I am happy with both.
Tough choice... I like that ADW Ex now has the Galaxy S/Iphone style drawer as I prefer the left/right scrolling and candy coated icons over the up/down long list. The fancy ways to scroll the desktop are nice but not essential IMO.
I do like the scrolling dock and widgets that come with Launcher Pro.
Are there launcher pro style widgets for Facebook/Calendar/Text messaging that can be used on ADW or other launchers?
I got to say adw ex, man that launcher is thebest hands down!
+1 for adw ex, i bought it last night it is pretty sick!

I prefer Zeam Launcher to either one of these, it seems to be much faster and I love the dock. It's feature rich, and under heavy development.
Does ADW Ex have the ability to hide apps in the app drawer, like Launcher Pro does? I love that.
It has a like feature, were you make a catalog, and choose the apps that you want to be shown.

I know there is a widget called Pure Calendar that's Sense-like, but it's a paid app in and of itself, so you pay for ADW EX and that widget. It's not a lot of money (like $5 total) but I'm so pleased with all the built-in widgets on LPPlus, I don't know if I can leave it.
Plus, I'm really holding out for Fererico's full re-write that should be coming soon. His website says maybe early January, so the new LPPlus might suddenly becoming a worthy contender again to everyone who thinks it's old hat.
Hi people! What's in your opinion best home replacement app for Wildfire? Except LauncherPro (it is smooth and fast but got old :/). Thanks.

Although most will say Launcher Pro, I personally am a fan of ADW more than that. And, I bought EX a few weeks back, and, its far more amazing.
Other alternatives are GO Launcher, Zeam, and the upcoming SPB Shell (Although I dont know whether it will work on the WIldfire or not)
@3xeno I got ADW EX. Thanks man, it's awesome! I used ADW free version too but the EX version is WAY more customizable. Again, thanks!
No issues. Enjoy.
I change launchers like my underwear, just to keep the experiences a little different and also because some go better with certain themes.
Right now I have GO Launcher because I like the themes, the classic them goes well with the UI look I'm after. Maybe later I'll restore my Launcher Pro or the launcher from Sony Ericsson because that had a nice glassy look too.
ADW isn't bad either but I can't buy the themes I would want to I don't bother.
I tried Panda Home too and it wasn't all that bad either.
So for looks, I'd say GO Launcher. For functionality and customisability I would say LauncherPro or ADW.
I like Zeam best, it's really fast! I've still got launcherpro plus though and occasional use it because of the cool widgets it has.
I recently tried Launcher 7, a Windows phone 7 looking launcher. It had some great animations which ran smoothly on the Wildfire. This was great because it was highly customisable which I believe not all Windows phone 7 style launchers can do(?).
A new update for LauncherPro came out today, I'm using the pro version, it just added some widget improvements and a new Gmail widget.

I would vouch for this, i use Zeam a lot of the time however it does not have as much functionality as the other launchers but is extremely fast.
I have adw ex, it used almost 5 minutes to loaded up my 900mb (250apps) apps, but launcher pro plus only use 45seconds to load it, with a lot of widgets, after my phone reboot.
How about launcher pro plus?
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA Premium App
I would use Go Launcher if it supported better our qvga resolution...
Because I think its app drawer is the best for usability, but it looks so bad on the Wildfire screen: I would pay for a modded version.
Anyway I'm using LPro+ which is very fast and smooth.
Yeah, GO Launcher sucks on this screen... But if you hide app names in drawer, it looks good. Anyway, I tried all of launchers people listed and they are great but I'm always going back to Sense.
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using Tapatalk
Can I use themes on launcher pro plus although I don't have root? I'm using adw ex atm coz of the themes and think that the app drawer is cooler.
hey, whats about sbp shell 3d? its released ... does it work on wildfire???
I already try spb 3d.. not works on wildfire.. stock 2.2..

I tried launcher pro, but always end up using Sense again, mostly because of the widgets, they are just so useful.
Ig you want widgets that look nice buy lancher pro plus then follow the instructions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=783427 to get nice themed one which look 100% better than the standard grey
I recently also downloaded launcher 7.
I ditched ADW for it.
Kinda like the little customizations for launcher 7, bring a newer look from other launchers which basically look the same.
Only downside is, the widgets all look tiny, so I have to live without widgets (which I dont normally use anyways).
GO Launcher in my opinion is the best. It has many functions such as closing running applications.

umm..this is not true... Like any launcher, if you are not currently using Sense as your default launcher it does not run. Sure HTC still has processes and what not running on the phone. Mostly for their integrated apps. But the widgets and launcher itself are not using memory if they are not running.
sense... if I didnt want to run sense I would get the nexus... I know everyone has a preference but why get the greatest phone on earth and take away its soul?
adw ex ehh jk sense
Don't like sense since I can't hide the taskbar and dockbar. So I use adw x

I have licenses for ADW EX and Launcher Pro, and I'm sticking with Sense for now. I also have SPB launcher, and may try that one out.
The phone has just been solid and run very well with the stock browser so I figure why mess with it.
Great thing though with the quick settings in the pulldown menu you don't have to worry about finding widget replacements for the radios anymore when you switch launchers.
So far I have stuck with Sense. I have not been a fan of Sense in the past and have a paid subscription to ADW EX. In my opinion I have never used a phone that had the hardware capabilities to run Sense the way it is meant to be ran, until now. the 3DEV0 is more than capable of running it and runs it quite well actually. I may still give ADW EX a shot, but for now I am giving Sense a chance to win me over which is something it has not done yet.

My processes tell me differently
Started out with SPB 3D Shell, but been using sense the last day or so just to get to know it.... Pretty sweet so far. Probably bounce back and forth.
I'vs used so many launchers like Launcher Pro (Plus), ADW Launcher EX, Go Launcher EX, and so much more 3rd-party launchers, but I always seems to go back to stock GB launcher because of the graphic acceleration and the smoothness even with live wallpapers...

For slower phones I'm recommending LauncherPro, but for better-equipped mobiles GoLauncher is the best option due to large amount of cust. options, speed and reliability.

Nova Launcher is for ICS only.
It's a modified stock ICS launcher that gives your more options and customization.
Default Miui launcher, pretty much always use stock launchers.
Reason being, my attitude to computing devices is simple ...........
everything uses resources. On PC this isn't so much of an issue as PCs can have a deep pool of system resources to dip into. However on a mobile device thats not the case, so if i want my device to function quickly and
accurately then i need to NOT load it up with lots of non critical non productive
processes, that usually do nothing but impress n00bs with eyecandy.
oh, that sounds cool. I'll get that when i get ICS in my Nexus S thanks

Nova Launcher.
The launcher seems limited, and even worse, has some pretty big performance issues. It seems fast *for the most part*, but relatively frequently, when I go to close or launch an app there is a pause or delay. Anyone else experience this?
So who else has ditched the Sense 4 launcher for Nova or something else?
I, personally, like some of the widgets offered through Sense, however I do not like the limitations. The things that pushed me to switch primarily are 4x5 rows/columns for icons and such along with a superior dock setup. Stock sense with an app drawer and 4 options is just too limited. I made the jump for Nova launcher when my OG Evo was running ICS and purchased the paid app and have not regretted it once. 3 sets of dock bars, refined folders nestled within them, along with my 4x5 screens. I miss a very few of the sense widgets, but most of them I have replaced with Android Pro Widgets (free version is enough for me on this one).
Just my overall 2 cents. Plus some of the stutters with sense seem to be absent on Nova
Other than the inexplicable restarts after some applications, I think it's being locked into the 4x4 grid that will be the end of the Sense 4 launcher for me. If it was just 4x5 I could look past a lot more of the other things.
I've been using Nova. It's like butter.
Thanks for the feedback, guys. Been using Nova and I love it too. Shame I can't use some of the Sense widgets though. I was really starting to like the calendar and the people widget. Not worth the hassle of using the launcher, though.

I am not sure of the calendar, but the people widget in Android Pro Widgets i *think* is very very similar to the sense ones. Check it out, may be worth your time!
If Sense 4.0 had landscape mode for the home screen, it would be PERFECT. I am addicted to the calendar widget which is what is keeping me stuck on Sense. I tried NOVA and think it is the best launcher I have tried. Nova is super fast and has landscape mode. If it could use Sense widgets it would be a no brainer to switch.
Do any of you know if ANY launcher out there supports sense widgets?

I tried both Apex and Nova. I'm currently using Nova (free version so far) and it's working great for me. I like that you can customize the rows/columns in both of those launchers.
