My mom has a rezound that's not unlocked or anything. For some reason her battery log says 64% is phone calls 20% is screen and the rest is cell data and apps. She has logs and was only calling for 30 minutes or less and the battery use says 2.5 hours. She has avast and used the phone for emailing and Internet. What's wrong

Based off your picture, there is nothing wrong.
She was is a call for 30 minutes and it took up 64% of her battery and the length was recorded as 2 hours 14 minutes. Something is obviously wrong.

she probably had multiple phone calls totaling 2 hours and 14 minutes over a 9 hour period... nothing alarming in terms of battery usage I don't think...

No, not a single 30 minute call killed 64% of the battery... over the course of over 9 hours, phone calling in general consumed 64% of the battery. Thats totally normal dude. Far from "extreme" battery issues..
The total time in calls was only 30 minutes. Why would a 30 minutes call alone kill 64% on my phone a 2 hour call kills around 20% something is obviously wrong
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using xda premium
No I checked the logs there were a total of 30 minutes over 9 hours.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using xda premium
No offense, but this is common sense. Just look at the graph, it declines very steadily. Its obvious just from looking at it that 64% of it's capacity wasn't consumed during any 30 minute period of time that the phone was in operation.
**edit**
If it had been a drain like you're saying, there would be an abrupt dip over approximately 30 minutes of time on the graph during that particular phone call.
The phone is not telling you that the phone calls used 64% of the whole battery. It's attempting to tell you the percentage of power that has been used per application. For example, if you have 50% battery life, and it says voice calls have used 64%, that means that phone calls have used approx 64% of what your battery has drained.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using Tapatalk 2
I assume from you sig that you also have a Rezound. Have you tried making 30 minutes of phone calls, especially if they're multiple calls and not one single conversation? The battery drain is exactly on par with what I see on mine. Phone calls and screen on will put a heavy drain on the Rezound battery.
what im saying is nto what you think i am saying. Im saying why is that app alone using so much battery and i kow it is doing it when the phone is idling. IM saying the phone had 30% battery and the app used 60% so the app used a total of around 45% of the battery. Why is the dialer app doing that. It makes no sense because there were no calls excepts for a 30 minute one.

What we don't understand is why this is so concerning? The phone had 30% battery life left after 9+ hours on stock software. Most people would consider this good.

+1 I would consider this great battery life on my phone. IMHO I don't think you have anything to be concerned with.
My battery life sucks no matter what I use, Finally I bought an extended battery, it helps some but really 10-12 hours is about MAX without a charge

Agreed. Just try to have a similar situation as your mom's phone. Run for 9+ hours, and have a 30 minute phone call. Especially if you're in an area with not so great reception, the phone call will show up as using a large percentage of your battery. It is not abnormal for this phone at all. (My wife's Droid 4 uses up much less battery for phone calls than my Rezound. It simply isn't a great phone for battery life in any aspect, other than if you're purely idling.)
Its a pretty steady decline over a 9 hour period. The battery is fine. Nothing is out of the ordinary. Your imagination is getting the best of you here.
What I'm trying to say is this. My rezound is getting 14 hours of battery white a few hours of screen on. Hers has the same screen on device model and battery type and get significantly less.

The phones should be having the same battery life. Phones go batteries faster than others because of sync...turn autosync off on hers as her facebook Twitter news weather etc is probably syncing every hour. Idle should never drop that fast.

I get about 8-10 hours with moderate use. That includes a bit a Facebook, Internet and texting every hour. Thats good enough for me since im usually not away from a charging port for 8 hours.
If all i do is Facebook and texting then I get about 4-5 hours with it before it goes to 20%.
I recommend to make sure you phone is almost dead, or wait for it to die, put it on the charger for the night while it's OFF. It seamed to help me, another thing i noticed if you have bad signal, you battery will get used A LOT more. i am at 69% after 6 hours and 52 min. display is at 63% so i guess that's moderate use.
Mine starts getting bad after its been on for 5 or 6 days without a reboot.

Moderate use for me I mean: played game about 30 min, you tube about 30 min, a few phone calls and texts, xda application used about 20 times , downloaded some applications.
Now you can root (!) and use SetCPU to get longer life via the profile settings.

Has anyone else ever had their battery improve over time?
My stock battery has overnight gotten amazingly better, and I can't explain it. Its on a stock amaze, everything stock, I was having some battery issues, it would charge and get to 99% then take a good 20-25 mins to get to 100%, so I got a battery calibrator off the market, a non root required one. So I get it charged, and 'calibrate' it, and I didn't think it would do anything. So it stayed at 100% for over an hour with the screen on. At night it was reading 70%, and I left it without charging, and in the morning was dead. Right away I thought the battery calibrator threw it off, so I charged it up agaon to 100%, and this time wanted it to drain to zero, and I thought I'd start over from a drained battery. Same thing happened when I had it at 100%, it would take forever to drain it, I was playing movies on it, sound turned up, screen full brightness, and the thing wouldn't drain. I had a movie looped all night, and for a period of 10 hrs of this, it was still going when I woke up! I find it hard to believe that this is legit, but I've tried it twice now to drain the battery and I'll wake up and it'll be at roughly 15% remaining.
The other odd thing I noticed is on my data tracker, I had about 80MB of data go through the phone that I can't recall doing anything with. It was at a time I was at home and on wifi, so I can't call telus and see what went through the network, but the phone had something big go through it that I didn't do. Maybe telus is secretly fixing the battery issue on these phones? The conspiracy continues…
Just thought I'd share. I attached a pic of the battery status as of today. I haven't charged this thing in over a day other then a little bump. Before, I'd get to 18-20 hrs of regular use and it would need a charge.
I've also got another amaze running energy rom, and faux and its been doing way better then the rooted amaze.

Taking pictures uses a LOT of battery life i have noticed, especially when using flash.
The Screen was barely on and awake time is minimal as well. Everyone just says "Wow" when they see a day, but a day of barely using your phone is not a special thing to accomplish.
Truth when I spend all day at my job I can't use my phone, even with syncing on... I'll still have 70+ % after 14 hours or so...

So is this thread supposed to be based on a purely stock experience? I have yet to get less than 14 hours with the heaviest usage.. but then again I am not stock. But every rom I have used has given me at LEAST a 12 hour battery life, even if I am trying to kill it.
I realize from numerous threads that wiping battery stats doesn't really do anything, but even though my battery goes to 90% super quick(I wish I knew why, it hasn't always) I still usually get 18+ from my phone, with realistic usage.
If this thread IS just for people using stock.. why are you using stock? I am on bulletproof 2.5 with the latest kernel, and I get great battery life, with over 130 apps installed and regular use.
A random thought, on previous devices I disabled automatic time sync and saw a big difference. I did the same for the amaze since day 1.. maybe you should disable it too? After you synced to the server, what point is there to auto-time?
My 2 cents.. don't know what the complaining it about.
On light usage, I EASILY get 2+ days on one charge..
After it passes the 50% threshold...or do I have a bad battery. I'll have 3 hours screen on time at 50%. But barely make it to 5 hours screen on time. Was the same way on my s3. Got 2 hours of screen on through the first 50%, barely got 3 hours screen on the last 50%. Noticing the same on this battery. Either the way the phone reads the battery is incorrect or the last half of the battery is messed up
I enjoy the battery very much but I see some people getting 7-8 hours screen on and I'm assuming it's because their batteries don't do what mine does

Never understood the big deal why people care so much about screen on time. As long as I can wake up at 4:30am and my phone last me the entire day, which includes texting, phone calls, web browsing, a few emails here and there, listening to some music.....and I can go to sleep at 10:30pm with about 30% battery left, sometimes more, I'm good. I have gone over 24hrs with regular to moderate use a few times. Battery is great in my opinion. I guess people have their own way of judging battery life...

I agree I'm just curious why my battery dies quickly after it hits 50% I ended up with 5 hours screen on time and about 14 hours off the charger which is good. I'm assuming if the bottom half of the battery didn't die off so quick then thus battery would be even better

It's all in how you use your phone. Be smart with your brightness, sync settings and charge cycles and you should't have any issues at all. I got over 35 hours on my HTC One by using auto bright and doing light to moderate usage. Everyone will have different results. Also if you are rooted use "Greenify".
I work on 3rd shift (11pm-7am) and I charge my phone when I get home around 830, let it charge to 100% and unplug it before I fall asleep and I am good to go until the next morning.

Try watching your phone and unplugging at 99%. Its probably dropping to 98% because when your phone reaches 100% it does a trickle charge where it drains a little then charge again. You might be removing it during that cycle.

First day I had it while setting everything up, screen on, apps chugging away... After 6 hours it had only drained 40% from a full charge.
Second day, rooted. Playing with a huge variety of apps to find the right ones for me. 5-6 hours screen time, 5% from a 85% charge. I was however downloading a massive collection of large files over WiFi, that will use a chunk of battery.
Last night I adjusted all my settings to optimize power consumption and improve battery life, installed Greenify and hibernated apps that like to linger after closed. Removed all unnecessary apps and Stopped useless imbedded apps. Will report at the end of the day my results.
So far it seems that the battery life you get out of a stock battery is based on how you use your phone, what you use it for and how long you use it. Turn off any features you're not currently using, such as Bluetooth, GPS, WiFi or put the phone in Airplane Mode when you're not in service so it's not constantly searching for a signal.
I watched half of a 1080p movie with a Bluetooth stereo headset, basic functions running in the background and only dropped 10% (45mins). This AMOLED screen uses much less power than that of my previous phones, the CPU seems to process quickly and efficiently, I would have assumed a 1080p video would use more resources to decode.
Just charged my phone from 40%, I got 21 hrs out of it with 4 hrs screen time, music, texting and general browsing. I will post a screenshot tonight when I get low again.
Oh I also ran Antutu like 10 times showing friends.

So I, like many others with the G2, have been experiencing inexplicable battery drain even after shutting down most services (i.e. Google Music, location tracking, CIQ, etc.).
I got my phone last friday and was getting absolute **** battery life until last night. For example, at 70% brightness with a lot of internet surfing, I wouild get aboiut 2.5 hours of screen time before the battery was at 10%. Just the other day, I went from 100% charge to 30% charge with only 1 h 35 min of screen time at 65% brightness. Two nights ago I lost 30% battery life over 6 hours while I slept! My typical usage of browsing the net saw the meter drop 1% for every 1-2 minutes of use at 70% brightness (wifi or 4G LTE)
I was about to return my phone for a replacement until I did more research on this android "mediaserver" and realized that it could possibly be the issue. Checking the default battery app showed that Mediaserver went from 15 to 25% of the total power used on those days. So i went into Google Settings > Google+ > Auto backup and shut that **** off
Bingo!!!!
I only lost 5% last night (9 hours) while I slept and today I have been using the phone for the past 4 hours with less than a 10% loss so far. Browsing the net gets me around 4-5 minutes for each 1% drop at 65% brightness. This is all on a stock ROM that was rooted to disable the CIQ. Nowadays my mediacenter usage is no higher than 3% on any given charge. I will post pictures of GSAM and the stock battery app over the next few days as I test it from a 100% charge.
good find, it will solve some battery drains but not all

what is bad battery life these days... man I remember getting 3 hours of screen time and you were a champ. Now phones last more than 2 day's with 6+ hours of screen time and people still complain it's bad or they need more juice... How long should the batteries last in these smart phones?
Sorry for the rant op.....

+1 to that. I've been getting great battery life on this phone with moderate use.

I added about 30% to my battery life by turning off Google Now and all the associated location reporting (went from charging every 2 days to every 3 days).
before running cm on my phone I use to get 7 hrs screen on time and about 20 hrs on one charge. I don't know why some ppl are having bad battery.
2 days and 5 hours of screen isn't good enough battery!

If you bothered to read my OP then you would see what I constitute as bad battery life. Namely, the intense drain while doing nothing and the lack of screen time for such a large battery. This phone is quoted by many to get around 5-7 hours of screen time regardless of what you can throw at it. Unfortunately, there are people that are experiencing drains like mine and can only get 2-3 hours of screen on time while only doing basic tasks. Most people do not experience this but the issue is quite prevalent in several other threads here.
Mediaserver can hang inexplicably, as G+ backup can too. Brth have happened to me.
Cycling the sync auto works for fixing the drain without disabling services.
Without a sc card, and even with, I recommend leaving it on.
Lose your phone, or get it stolen like my wife a couple months ago, and you'll wish it was on.

Op I read your entire post. I stated I personally haven't seen such abysmal battery life. What phone do those with battery life that's constantly draining have.. I mean vwz att d802 or etc? Maybe we can narrow down these incidences. Over night losing 30% is a lot. I usually lose 3-4% over night. I don't turn off anything. But I do use 4.4 Google search, hangout, market, and mostly all Google apps from 4.4. Could they be using less battery or draining less??

I was about to return my phone for a replacement until I did more research on this android "mediaserver" and realized that it could possibly be the issue. Checking the default battery app showed that Mediaserver went from 15 to 25% of the total power used on those days. So i went into Google Settings > Google+ > Auto backup and shut that **** off
Bingo!!!!

I think there is a setting for the Auto Backup of Google+ wherein you can do the following;
Back up photos only when there is a Wi-Fi connection available.
Back up videos only when there is a Wi-Fi connection available.
and
While charging only.
With these options, I think you will not have a problem with the battery esp while sleeping...

What do you get running CM? Is it a big difference?
Where is this setting? I looked under my google account and don't see it

I don't know people are getting that kind of battery life! I get 2.5 hours of screen time and 38 hours of total battery life for every charge. Google Now is activated (I use it often), but otherwise GPS is off, Bluetooth is off, and WIFI is on for 15+ hours a day.

goto apps > google settings > google+
guys, its not about bad batterylife but a possible battery drain you may or may not have issues with.
granted Op can state a batterydrain vs the batterydrain, or state that this doesnt affect all, but if it does, this could be it

Hey guys
I got my ultra yesterday and it came with about 40% battery and it took nearly 2 hours of screen on time to kill it which was amazing
I've given it a full charge so this is my first cycle and battery life isn't great with just over 1hour and 10 minutes screen on time which is worse then my 18 month old s3
Will it get better over time? I've got all the power saving features on
Thanks
J

1 hour 10 minutes from 100 to 0%? You should get around 5-7 hours of screentime. Just keep using it though and it should get better in a few days.

Just went through the first cycle and it was about 3 hours, Battery seems weird on this device, I unplugged it from full at 100% but I leave it on 100% for about 20 minutes after and it went straight down to 99% where as my nexus 7 doesnt do that :S

Hard to tell if it's normal or not. Are you using any apps that updates themselves frequently in the background? Widgets? Whatsapp? FB Messenger? I've had mine in standby for 8 hours (while at sleep) at 100% before, and it was still at 100% eight hours later, so it shouldn't drop 1% in 20 minutes.
Just keep using it for a week or so, and if it isn't better, you might have a lemon. But again, it's incredible hard to say what it might be. You can also do a factory reset and see if that solves anything. It might simply be a bug or an app that's gone rogue.
Agree with LordManhattan and 3mL.
When I first got it, I had the same questions about battery life. I was literally seeing it draining a percent a seconds. There were some rogue apps, like whatsapp and pinger (textfree), that were constantly doing something in the background. Uninstalled those and got much better results. After about a week or so and a few battery cycles, the battery also improved drastically.
Try some of the apps that monitor and hibernate apps, e.g. greenify and wakelock detector. I'm sure there are others but those are the ones I use.
I had a 2 percent drop last night so not to bad
And im not rooted so I cant use those apps at the moment
Ill see how it gets on

I m on stock rom rooted. using stamina mode while allowing some of the apps to run in background. battery life is great
never let battery life go below 50%. on contrary to popular belief, it is not wise to let ur batter drain completely. for the first few cycles refer to the manual
I normally get about 1-2% drain over night, a bit more if the cell signal decides to play up a but.
Over this week I got 4d 12h on one charge with 12% still remaining - very light usage: 3 or 4 calls, a few emails, a few geo-tagged photos, a note or two with poor signal most of the working day.
Its been rather strange for me, on the first charge cycle I got 4.5 hours of screen on time and the 2nd I got 4 hours
Im now on my 3rd and im at 85% with only 48 minutes of screen on time which isnt too bad but I feel like I have to have low battery mode and stamina mode on just to get it through the day
Hopefully Sony release a fix or 4.4 with better battery life

Well i don't want to be rude, but are you just stare to your screen for 4 hours? Or are you also doing something with the phone?
Because it really matters what kind of activity regarding your battery life you're doing. Smartphones are not battery friendly, get your charger with you or buy a mobile charger.
