Clockwork Power Off - Galaxy Ace S5830 General

I noticed that every time I select the power off option from CWM my phone turns back on in like 10 seconds. Anyone else got this?

Which CWM ?
This was sent from a Galaxy Ace. Problem?

I get that everytime, never minded. Happens to me with both cwm4 and cwm5 on stock KP3, ddqk8 and stock based roms. Never tried doing it on cm based roms.

yeah, happen to me too.
I'm using this version of CWM.

Umm... no. Its not. For it to happen to a lot of people on different roms and kernels? You really think its a kernel issue?

It's probably an issue with cwm and it's also probably related to the type of kernel. To say the truth, I don't think it's that big a deal. It has posed no real problems to me when flashing, and if anything, removing the battery will do the trick. A minor inconvenience in an otherwise perfect tool.

yes, i encountered this issue too. I wonder how to turn off phone from recovery without take out battery
But NOT big deal for me

Its not a big deal, but its annoying. You'll have to wait till your phone boots to be able to turn it off. Taking off the case, then taking off the battery cover and taking out the battery is a lot of work to just turn your phone off.

You are completely right. However, it's a free tool.
I mean, even the stock Samsung firmware gives Fc and issues every now and then and they do get paid by us users (both on acquisition and through Google adds, and free marketing data)

it happens to me on the official CWM 4.0.0.9

Help! Power Button Not Working Correctly

Ever Since i flashed Ciaox's Open Optimus 2.202 the power button is not functioning properly.
I have to press it for like 20 sec to get a power menu and sometimes i won't get it at all.So i have to retry its very annoying.Even the screen wouldn't turnoff from a single click.
I thought there might be some problem with ciax's Gb rom but no i was wrong the problem persists even with GB 2.3.3 Official ROM ,it is very irritating to say the least.
This problem started after i first installed Miks Cm7 it was negligible back then but now it is horrible.
Anyone else facing this problem?
Your help is in the LG service center where they can change the faulty button.
ive been having this problem too but i dunno if its cuz of rom or the fact that i have it for 8 months and something ...ive been thinking about opening my phone up and see whats what...but as i read ure post i might consider going back to stock rom just to try and see if the buttons are working correctly but until then i might grow about 30 cm of nails ^_^ ahaha... im too lazy goddamit
I have this phone since 2months only,it is pretty new...some one mentioned that there is a bug in Mik's Cm7 that causes this issue. To take to to the service centre i have to go back to the stock ROM .. flash oldbaseband ectra ectra..long process

The lame fingers? Did not know I could patch them... This worked just fine on v20a and v20g, sorry, do not intend to flash any others ATM. Also kinda missed the flood of complaints about people unable to turn off their phone with GB on LG FB pages. Must be a well hidden bug for sure.

Yup my phone updated, if I install custom Kernel, when I unroot it and stock ROM can I still get back to my official Kernel version? And can I still get my warranty?
+1, sometimes it gets quite hot, sometimes not. Either has something to do with rooting or stock kernel is bad. Reboot fixes it temporarily here...
Of course it gets warm when you're doing things with the phone, it's what processors (and pretty much everything else in the world) does when doing work.
It's not a bug, nor a problem, just a thing that happens to everything.
High temperature means the CPU is working.
If you're surfing the WEB, it's quite normal with todays heavy usage of Javascript and animations on webpages. Custom kernels can reduce it somewhat by not going to full CPU speed (1.4GHz) directly, but this will naturally reduce the phone's "instant" performance.
I wouldn't say it gets heating up or hot. Just feel warmer. That's all. Nothing to worry about.

what ROM and Kernel are you using? checked OC settings? any additional apps running in the background without your knowledge? any recent apps you have installed?

I'm using Stock ICS 4.0.4
I'm not sure what you mean by Kernel as I'm new to androids, was an iOS user ..
How to check if apps are running without my knowledge?
Yes there are many apps I recenly got!
Get better battery stats from the play store, and let it run for a charge cycle.
Also turn off all the silly Samsung stuff like face awake etc etc
Does a reboot help?

a sign that some hungry app is churning away in the background, that's why I suggested bbs to help find the cause.
This kind of thing is nearly always a rogue process, just a matter of getting to know your new os and learning its ins and outs

Woke up too be shocked! Battery is 26%
What the hell!
This is a serious problem...
BBS says that gpsd is using a lot as a process, so I disabled that before I sleep.
OK so now I wiped data and cache and installed CM9 stable release.
I want to know what you mean by kernel and how to install custom kernel
Thanks again.

Hi.
I had the same problem with one SGS3 from two I bought.
The one worked fine, but the second restart twice and more a day. I changed it in the shop. But the problem was still there. The akku was hot and after 2 hours without any input the akku was 0%.
I changed the phone the second time in the shop.
But also this device had the problems, sometimes the phone doesn't see the akku.
Then I had the idea, I looked into the device pressed the akku with my thumbnail and the akku worked.
With a little paper I fix the akku and everything is fine until today.

This only happens to me when I'm trying to use my phone while it is plugged in and charging. It acts all crazy, but once I unplug it the thing works fine. I pretty much keep my phone in ECO mode and haven't switched that off to see if it makes a difference.
Same here. I keep my phone on ECO mode and have no issues with responsiveness, except for once in a while when it's plugged in and charging.

I DO have that problem with mine. I am unlocked, rooted and running nottach's Base ROM the problem has reoccurred with the stock ROM and versions 0.5, 0.6.5 and 0.7.3 .
It's probably a kernel-level memory or CPU issue because for most people it appears to be a specifically time-based problem. The longer your uptime is, the worse the problem gets. Reboot your phone and the problem goes away for awhile.

Amrando, inflammatory and unhelpful statements aren't going to win you any help with your problems. It's just alienating those that would otherwise help you out and gets you reported to the mods.

I've edited your post. This is a great example of the same phone, running a similar set up behaving completely different. The user you quoted wasn't doing anything other than stating that they don't have this problem so chill out a little and accept that each person can have a different experience and opinion. If you've got nothing useful to say, say nothing.
Thanks
