ICS voicemail fix for flashed phones - HTC EVO 3D

Ok so I have a evo3d flashed to boost, and there was a patched phone.apk floating around that you could use to replace the one in your rom, so you get voicemail notifications on GB roms.... I havent tried it yet for fear of messing up my rom, but could this patched phone.apk be used on an ICS rom to get voicemail notifications working again?

idk, but i'm on boost running Newt's ics rom, and native voicemail worked by default...no need to replace phone apk.

If you want to stay with Mean, you could do a nandroid backup and then install the patched phone.apk and see if that works. If not, you could restore your nandroid- no harm, no foul. Or, as the other poster stated, you could try Newt's ROM.

[Q] 2.2 stock and ICS Passion at the same time?

I am new here, please don't bite.
I have been following the NeoBuddy ICS for a while but haven't jumped in yet. Just picked up a new SD card and want to jump in.
Getting on ICS Passion will be easy with all the great guides. But I am interested in being able to dual boot ICS and 2.2 stock since I require the WiFi Calling while at work. (There is ZERO signal in our building on T-Mobile frequencies)
From what I have read to get back to a stock 2.2 I would have to Odin back, not use Rom Manager? Is this correct? Am I wrong? Am I bothering you?
Thanks for any help.

There is no ability to dual boot the Vibrant (at this time). Going back and forth regularly would be a pain..
Maybe dual booting is the wrong phrasing. Could I backup and restore a 2.2 and a ICS install with Nandroid? And then go back and forth between them?
I am willing to wait for a backup to be restored. I'd rather wait for that than have no ability to receive calls.
I am still trying to grasp the backup and restore process on android phones. This is a hell of a lot to absorb. I am reading as many posts and guides but the underlaying concepts are missing.
Thanks agin.

The recoveries/kernels used are different nandroid doesn't backup kernels. You would end up bricking your phone. To go from ICS back to 2.2 you need to odin back to a stock rom first you can't just flash in CWM. The entire file system is different.

OK I think I got it.
You can flash different ROM's as longs as you are on the same version (2.2, 2.3 ect) and running the same kernel.
But if you want to move between a 2.2 and a 2.3 or a 4.0 you need to go back to stock and go from there.

I'm not 100% sure, but 2.3 might have wifi calling, and as far as my personal experience, you can switch between ICS PASSION and a 2.3 rom as much as you want. I don't know how nandroid backups work though so someone may have to back me up
If you can bounce back and forth with 2.3 and 4.0. Just keep both zips handy. Always format system before flashing. Seems most roms do this auto. Never used nandroid so don't know much on it. Titanium backup pro let's you fast install missing apps without confirming each one. Just don't install with any data.
Also most roms come with a kernel. I'd say find stable 2.3 with wifi calling. I don't know of any quicker way swapping back and forth.

Wifi callings needs a stock touchwiz rom. Different kernel CWM and rfs/ext4 file system.
Going back to cm7 or miui is one thing but back to a Samsung rom is different

ok Im still learning. I know tw is different framework but would he need to Odin back to stock every time to switch. Or would he be able to flash through cwm. Use a touchwiz based rom with working wifi calling and an ICS rom
Or because it's aosp he needs to Odin back. I know I've had to coming off of any cm or miui to a Samsung rom. I think I'm understanding what your saying now

Just to call attention to the word "pro" - you do have to pay for this feature. This and the Dropbox sync make pro totally worth the price, but I wanted to point out that it's not free.
Very true thank you and well worth it imo. In the free version you do have to manually click install on every app which gets old fast!
So it seems like moving back and forth between roms is not a problem IF it isn't a Samsung ROM. I'd have to Odin back.
If I used/found a 2.2 or 2.3 ROM which had the WiFi calling ported over to it I could then flip between them (by backing them up and restoring them).

T-Mobile WiFi calling needs the Touchwiz framework. Which is only availible in Samsung roms. 2.3 AOSPish roms (CM7, MIUI) do not have the needed framework.

I guess I am S out of luck to do what I'd like to do. Probably will still put ICS on to at least try it out.
Thanks to everyone for the information. (I hit the thanks buttons)
Get yourself a google voice number and groove ip to make VOIP calls. afaik you can forward your cellular number to GV, or just tell your contacts of your GV number.

Funny, I just did some research this morning and came up with the same exact solution!
Probably will end up going the GV and Groove route while at work. Probably set the forwarding before I go inside to work.

[Q] Possible way to get qpst to MIUI rom? or any way to change the volume?

Im running
[ROM][AOSP](4/14/12) MIUI 2.4.13 - Super Sexy Edition
and the volume is real low for me.. if someone has a solution and it works, ill toss in a donation to your paypal. its the only thing I dont like about MIUI THE VOLUME!

Or this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1511595
Im currently using it and its great
Ha good one forgot about xloud. To the op you can do both methods.
#Root_Hack-Mod*Always\
You cant QPST with MIUI roms. im going to try the xloud zip when I get home tho. if it works, Ill buy you a beer no problem.
You can however still apply the guide to your miui rom you just have to make a nandroid of your current rom. Then flash any sense based rom. Then use the qpst guide. It will stick once its applied no matter what rom you flash after. Then do a full data wipe. Then restore your nand of your current rom and then flash the xloud mod. You might be able to get the diag mode on miui with a modified epst.apk but not a 100% sure.

I dont feel like, flashing another rom(unless I restore an old backup of a sense I have). which I will end up doing with a few beers and my OCD. also, xloud kinda messed up my sound settings, it crashes when I open it..
Open what? Sound settings?
Are you sure you flashed the right one ??? Because xloud isn't an app or anything you can access VIA gui.

Sorry for giving you bad information. Didn't realize miui was a completely different rom than 2.17.651.5
Glad you got it fixed though.
You could extract the zip, place the files, and change permissions for the files with root explorer to see if it will work after a nandroid that is.

Quick question.
I'm having an issue with vanishing ringtones, notifications and pictures from my sd card (They're there, but the phone for some reason is not reading/finding them). I want to see if this problem gets solved by flashing a stock rom, but without loosing root and S-off. Is this the rom I should flash?
Thanks in advance

[Q] ATT HTC One - Removing Bootup Sounds

Okay - I've tried searching this topic and no success and/or nothing relevant comes back.
I've tried renaming \system\customize\resources\PowerUp.mp3, deleting PowerUp.mp3 and just about every trick I can think of to get rid of the AT&T boot up sounds (and animation). Every time I delete it, then reboot it comes back. It's like a recurring bad dream. This worked great on my old S3.
Anyone know how to make this go away on a stock, rooted ROM? I've been using Root Explorer to set the directory R/W and then make the changes. No luck! I'm not a fan of smart phones that are overly noisy, so, IMHO, a bootup sound is really annoying and unnecessary....
You need to disable the /system protection in the kernel. There's a flashable mod in the international dev section or you can flash a custom kernel that disables it.

Gunnyman - thanks. Would have never thought about that "feature". I'll go look up the mod and/or do a Kernel....
if you want to stay with a stock kernel download scrossler's cleanrom and pull the boot.img from it. It has protection disabled

4.3 Tw dialer crashes

I am on MDK with Twrp and when I attempt to use a TW 4.3 ROM the phones dialer will not work. I atempt to make or receive a call and the phone will go black and become unresponsive. After the call fails the phone will fiction properly. I still have data and SMS messaging works. I have done clean installs with formating the internal memory. When I flash to a 4.3 asop ROM everything works. Any ideas what I can do to fix this?
