I was hoping someone might be able to help me. Anytime i reboot my touchpad running CM9 via the power button and try to reboot to "bootloader" it boots to TWRP versus moboot?
Anyone experience this or is there a way to remedy? ANy help would be appreciated.
Thank you.

That's the way its intended I think. If you need moboot then you just reboot and catch the moboot screen as it comes up and make a choice

What is the point of having the bootloader reboot option then? I know at one point it would boot straight into moboot... So I know the intention was for it to perform as written.

And it works that way if you switch back to Clockwork Mod if I'm not mistaken. Now Donnie I agree with you... so if anyone knows if there is something to habilitate this function with maybe a change in one of the files in the /boot partition please educate us...

We've tested and can confirm this bootstrap recovery is working. Thank you to bane449 for testing. The recovery is a straight APK pull from the Droid X2. Worked thanks to the similarities between devices.
Instructions and download:
http://briefmobile.com/motorola-photon-4g-root-custom-recovery-now-available
Looks successful to me: DroidX2 Recovery GFAN.COM V2.5.1.8
And it booted back into Android properly, even
So what will this allow me to do? What are its advantages? What are the risks?

CWM allows users to easily install unsigned update packages. This will open up the Photon to pseudo-ROMs, all sorts of modifications, and more.
Forgive my ignorance but what is a "pseudo-Rom"?

I know what ROM's are, never heard anyone say psuedo-ROM.

Psuedo meaning "not really" a ROM. A locked bootloader will prevent true custom ROMs, but P-ROMs will be possible.
P-ROMs are based off of stock files and modifications. They don't replace the kernel or modem.
Yup i installed this and rebooted into recovery mode. It worked just fine for me. What happens if Sprint releases an OTA update? Can i recover root access or downgrade with this? Sounds like I can't because I can't modify the kernel.

I can't seem to get mine to reboot into CWM. I run the apk, hit install recovery, says installed sucessfully, hit recovery mode and it reboots back into system.

Make sure your device is plugged into the wall charger when you do Reboot Recovery. That's the only way it'll work since it's a bootstrap recovery.

Can you explain why this is? I'm a little confused as to what makes a "bootstrap recovery" different from a regularly flashed "recovery.img".

Caveats:
This is not a *real* recovery. The way this recovery works is by hijacking portions of your boot process during system initialization and starting into recovery instead. So, if you hose your system *COMPLETELY* you will need to SBF. Specifically, if your logwrapper, logwrapper.bin, or hijack binary are missing from /system/bin, you will be screwed.
This is from koush himself concerning droid x/2 bootstrap. I would seriously wait til an sbf surfaces before flashing any of these "psuedo-ROMS" or even just deleting any system apk's. Just my opinion.

Does the phone need to be rooted first in order to installl this recovery apk?
Is this "ClockworkMod" recovery, or something else? If it's CWM, what version?
So what specifically did this do to my phone? What files were modified to allow this to run at bootup? Anybody have any info on this (just in case I want to return my phone to stock.)

This is CWM bootstrap. Original one was on the Droid X, created by Koushik Dutta. Then it was ported to the Defy. Then to the Atrix. Next, the Droid X2. Now, the Photon 4G.
V2.5.1.8
Sbf is gonna be your friend when it comes to unrooting and restoring. It will pop up soon.

Once I'm in CWM, is it safe to unplug the charger or does it need to be connected until I exit and reboot?

Sorry for the noob question, search results turned up nothing. When I rooted my phone, it had twrp on it, but then I loaded viper rom, and now I have cmw....most of my backups were on twrp. Is there a way to switch back and forth between the two? Viper now has an update, but says it doesnt load with cmw and you need to use twrp. Any help would be greatly appreciated
You can't have both. So pick flash the twrp recovery and be done with it. I don't think it will corrupt your nands but anything is possible.

Hi guys I am in a pickle.... I am coming to you because I have no other options. As the title says I have a Wondermedia tablet and I was looking into replacing the stock software because its bull****. Anyway I got the honeycomb ROM UBEROID setup but I can never make it by the bootscreen. I have tried several different devices in the changer.bat but no luck... atm it is laying bricked because I have no way of restoring stock software... Any help with this will be apreciated! PLEASE HELP!
Can you access recovery? I think maybe you didn't wipe before booting. After flashing something, it is very important to wipe cache and such from the custom recovery.

There is no custom recovery for my tablet... you just put the ROM files on a SDcard and insert into tablet... then reboot and follow instructions. The sad thing is I have no custom recovery and I have no way to connect to a PC atm...
Ok I have ONE more thing I am going to shoot for... by the way this is the guide I followed.. http://www.techknow.t0xic.nl/forum/index.php?topic=72.0 you might need to regester...
Ok my last ditch attempt to fix worked so nevermind... If any of you need help with this tablet PM me... thanks

Hey I have one of these with the 7 inch touch screen and in your situation to, how did you fix it?
Photon 2.3.5, rooted, locked. Was trying to flash jellybean, something went wrong. Now it just cycles to the 'Dual Core' screen, and off. I can get into the boot menus and rsd. Tried wiping data from recovery, didn't help. I have tried to flash 198_7 sbf file, but it fails at re-enumeration. Is my phone toast?
Read carefully through this post. You should recover your phone. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1798145

I don't think so.
Can you able to enter custom recovery. If yes try nandroid backup.
Only few roms like peetrs hybrid are available For locked bootloader .
You flashed a rom for unlocked bootloader on locked phone. So the result is softbrick.

Thanks for the assistance. I was able to flash some of the .sbf file. It failed during the "jump". However, it did boot up. Now I need to root. Do I use a rooting method for the Electrify, or can I use the photon torpedo method?
Thanks again for the help!!!
OK. I'm rooted, and I have Rom Manager installed. I can't boot to CWM recovery. I get the triangle! . Will I not be able to boot to CWM recovery?
Thank you! Thank you!!

New issue now. I have no audio on calls. The other party can hear me, I can't hear them. Speaker phone works good. From what I've seen, this is a software issue. Would you happen to have a fix for this?
Never mind. Broken speaker wires. Got it disconnected from the board, just have to order a new one.
So I was running my ROM, no trouble, and I decided that I wanted to change it. I hold the power button, click reboot, then I choose recovery. It shows the Samsung Galaxy Note II image, then flashes the CWM logo for three seconds then goes back to the GN2 logo and loops. I'm currently on CWM 6.0.4.3. How can I fix this?
Can someone please help?
Can someone please help? I know this thread only has one view so I'm trying to bump it up.

Try powering off. Then hold volume up, home and the power button. That will get you into recovery. If recovery is corrupt or bad.....I would think flashing back to stock and starting over is a good move. Can't hurt anything by doing that.
