Can V6 be used on Eclipse.2.2? - Motorola Droid X2

Can V6 be used on Eclipse.2.2 without creating any problems?
Sent from my DROID X2 using xda premium

Only one way to truly know.
Nandroid up and report back soldier!
Come over to the dark side...

I say yes. I took it for a drive last night on my MX2 with Eclipse 2.2. Even though Eclipse was already swift I do see it being slightly more responsive and have not encountered any descrepancies in past 24 hours.

Make sure you set the /etc/install_recovery.sh script to executable. It isn't by default for some reason and will not execute ANY scripts in the /etc/init.d directory. I noticed this when after rebooting and checking my memory settings, the V6 settings didn't stick and it reverted back to the default settings.
Took me awhile to figure this one out.
Otherwise, yes the V6 scripts work very well with Eclipse 2.2 as I can attest to that fact after figuring out the init.d issue.

if you rerun v6 supercharger, it will tell you if settings are sticking or not
I had to change permissions for system/ect/ installrecovery.sh before all settings stuck
Sent from my DROID X2 using xda premium

I just ran V6 again. Confirms all settings are still as I set them. I’m still 100% Supercharged. So it's been 4 whole days but I'll continue to check and report back.

v6 works on any rom/device (if it wants to). just make sure your keeping up to date with zepplin_rox v6 updates. He's had 10 test updates this month. each time small bugs are fixed.
not sure if your supercharged??
if your not sure that your supercharged or it only says 50% supercharged try this.
1.) open terminal
2.)type
cat /proc/`pgrep launcher` /oom_adj
(the ` are back hashes not quotation marks)
3.) if the return value is 1 then your supercharge is stuck.
4.) (this is only if you think your 100% supercharged but your reported as 50% or 75%)
type
cat /sys/module/lowmemorykiller/parameters/minfree
if your values are at or near these your at 100%
2048, 3584, 14080, 17920, 21760, 25600

So has anyone had success with the X2 on Eclipse 2.2.1?
I'm trying to run V6 Supercharger U9RC9T18 and the settings will stick for either a few hours or until I reboot. I've tried setting the 99Supercharger.sh to root/boot, tried editing the 99Tweaks.sh to remove the necessary lines, tried going back to older versions of V6 that previously worked great, but even that isn't working now.
I also tried changing the install-recovery.sh file to executable, but no luck. You mentioned changing the permissions, but what would I try changing them to?
Any help would be appreciated. I'm about to throw this phone through a wall and just buy a Razr Maxx at full retail.

I haven't been able to get v6 to stick either. Finally just gave up on it.

I had the idea of changing the permissions of install-recovery.sh using the terminal but I'm not very familiar with it. I'm pretty sure this is what iBolski did but it wasnt totally clear to me. I know it invoves "chmod", the file extension and 0755.
So can anyone help me out with exact code to enter to achieve these:
1. Mount as read/write
2. Change the permissions of /system/etc/install-recovery.sh to 0755
Thanks in advance

Change permissions with a root browser
Sent from my DROID2 using xda premium

Yeah I tried that. I wasn't sure exactly what permissions would be the equivalent to 0755 or if it made a difference. I just gave the file every permission available.
For instance, in root explorer:
Read Write Execute
Owner X X X
Group X X X
Others X X X

I changed permissions for /system/etc/install-recovery.sh
with root browser to
[x] [x] [x]
[x] [ ] [x]
[x] [ ] [x]
Sent from my DROID2 using xda premium

Just tried that and it still wouldn't stick.
Think it would have anything to do with the fact that this is the most recent testing version of V6?

Yup. That's what I did. I used root explorer. Here are the steps:
1) Launch root explorer
2) Navigate to /system and mount it read/write by touching the "Mount R/W" button in Root Explorer.
3) Next, go into the /system/etc directory.
4) Long press on the install-recovery.sh file until the context menu comes up and select "Permissions" menu item
5) You'll see a window similar to the following (depending on your theme, etc):
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
You need to set the owner, group and others to read and execute.
After that, you can remount the /system file system to read only via Root Explorer and that should fix the issue.

A simple question, sorry if this have been answered before...can V6 be used over Speedy v7?

X8 eclair Jit enable

I just make guide to enable Jit
Requirement:
eclair Rooted
Download this http://bit.ly/JiT-toggle
first use this command at adb
adb pull /system/build.prop
you can also manually use root expolrer to copy built.prop
edit the build.prop (im using notepad)
change this:
dalvik.vm.heapsize=32m
debug.sf.hw=1
added this at the end:
dalvik.vm.execution-mode=int:jit
save the changes..
after that extract http://bit.ly/JiT-toggle
at sdcard/JiT-toggle-0.1
and save the file
then do this steps
after that you must copy and overwrite the mod built.prop to folder
/sdcard/JiT-toggle-0.1/vmlibsv2
and the original build.prop to /sdcard/JiT-toggle-0.1/vmlibs_stock
then
1: enable JIT (in a termnial or adb shell)
cd adb
adb shell
su
cd /sdcard/JiT-toggle-0.1
sh enable_jit.sh
and your phone will reboot with JIT enable.
and if you want to disable jit effect just use this command

Hmmm a question, what is Jit refers to??
is it gonna mak X8 run faster or ??
JIT refers to Just In Time compilation. Which is basically converting VM code into native code. Yes, it will definetly make your X8 MUCH faster.

is stand for Just in time
The JIT is a software component which takes application code, analyzes it, and actively translates it into a form that runs faster, doing so while the application continues to run
sorry for my bad eng
I follow 2 this step
sh enable_jit.sh
but nothing happen, and when i reboot my x8, it's hang in SE-logo.
Can u test in more than 5 device?
Any downside ????
or other question is y se not include the jit if there is no downside)
how to enable JIT for android 1.6?
Something isn't perfect with your solution.
I had enabled the jit by your script and my phone had been slower.
I disabled it and the phone stopped at the boot screen.
A had to reflash it.
Before you publish a solution be sure that it's working well!
What firmware you get the lib-s from?
JIT is fully working thanks.

For a compensation I give you a taskbar theme (what I'm already using)
You can change it by this way:
1. Extract the framework-res.apk from the zip to the root of your sdcard.
2. Be sure that the busybox is present on your phone!!
3. Save your framework-res:
Code:
adb pull /system/framework/framework-res.apk
4. Copy the new one to the /system/framework from your sd:
Code:
adb shell
su
mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock2 /system
busybox cp /sdcard/framework-res.apk /system/framework/framework-res.apk
I modified pulp's framework-res (from his X8.img) (2.1-RUS).
When you change it, the phone maybe freeze! You will see the new theme after a reset.
if you make something wrong, your phone will restart without any changes.
If you try it, please let me know how do you like it!
If you don't like it, you can put back the original framework-res.apk by the same way.

It is just the taskbar what I uploaded. Everything else will remain as before.
But if you haven't got the original SE Home screen app and the SE clock, I attached them.
(I prefer the mClock, because it is fully customizable. That's what you see on the screenshots. )
Jit works very good on my phone. For those who have problems and lag after enabling jit i recommend to delete the contents of your /data/dalvik-cache folder using root explorer and immediately reboot after this. Phone will boot slower first time after the deleting of the dalvik cache because it will need time to rebuild it but after this your phone will definitely work better. I got quadrant result 513 and linpack 7.4 on my X8.

[APP] Droid 3 Camera App

So, here's my second contribution to the Photon 4G community in less than 24 hours. Took some time, some work and a lot of learning but I finally got it down... The camera app from the Droid 3. It looks a lot better than our current app and adds the Panorama picture option (which I'm working on; doesn't work as of yet).
IF ANYTHING HAPPENS TO YOUR PHONE, I AM NOT AT FAULT!
Prerequisites:
You need to be rooted
Have a general idea about ADB
Computer running Windows
Download Modded BlurCamera.apk from here:
http://www.multiupload.com/X7JFD9TAVR
Anything in BOLD tells you what you will be doing
Anything in RED needs to be typed in.
1. Visit this link and follow the directions to Deodex your system:
http://www.droidxforums.com/forum/droid-x-themes/4620-how-manually-deodex-your-phone.html
2. Place BlurCamera.apk in your Android SDK Platform-Tools Folder (for example; I extracted the sdk to c:\android so my platform-tools folder is in the directory c:\android\platform-tools)
3. Adb push BlurCamera.apk to your sd card
adb push BlurCamera.apk /sdcard/
4. Open a shell as root
adb shell
su
You should now see a # instead of an $
5. Mount /system
/bin/mount -o remount,rw /system
6. Copy BlurCamera.apk to /system/app
cp /sdcard/BlurCamera.apk /system/app
7. Set permissions
Go into Root Explorer and set permissions to rw-r--r--
7. Reboot phone
reboot
And viola! It works!
Please post your results!

Any Suggestions on how to bring back the camera?

Just push the your original BlurCamera.apk file to /system/app/ set permissions and reboot. If you need it, pm me. If you have root explorer it makes it easier.
So I was able to bring the camera back by copying the original camera apk back to the system/app directory and setting the permissions with root explorer.

Great mod, makes it even easier to flash all these fantastic roms coming our way!
So is this something anyone can apply to any ROM they're currently running just by pushing it via adb ? If so, where do we push it to?
will work on any 1.02.605.6 rom that is deodexed and rooted
So I dig through Root Explorer a bit and found android.policy.jar in /system/framework, I assume we just push it to there then do a reboot and we should be good to go?

Yes, push it to /system/framework/
The question of how to adb push files comes up alot.
A long time ago I made it easy for myself since I do it often by creating the 2 scripts in the attached. Extract them to a folder and all you have to do is drag and drop the files over the appropriate batch file.
Just boot into recovery, mount system, and do this.
For example this jar file would be dragged and dropped on the
2_FRAMEWORK-Push_(Drop Here).cmd
This assume adb is in your system path. If it is not you will find out quick.
Do we need to be in recovery to push via adb on the Rezound? I tried doing it and kept getting this:
c:\sdk\platform-tools>adb push c:/sdk/platform-tools/android.policy.jar /system/framework
failed to copy 'c:/sdk/platform-tools/android.policy.jar' to '/system/framework/android.policy.jar': Permission denied
Am I doing something wrong or is the Rezound just a bit funky? I made sure to set everything to R/W in Root Explorer, since I was originally getting a "Read-only file system" error.

you must be rooted... make sure the jar is either in your adb folder or you have adb in your path
adb remount
adb push android.policy.jar system/framework
adb reboot
I am rooted, and was trying to do this via adbWireless, so maybe the connection was wonky even though adb said my phone was connected. So I dunno what's happening, so instead I just Dropbox'd it over and moved it via Root Explorer, phone is rebooting now so we'll see if that worked, I'm assuming it should. Maybe the adb remount command would have helped. I'll give it a whirl with that for ****s and grins.
EDIT: Moving inside Root Explorer worked, thanks for supplying this file man! Sooo much better than the damn battery pull lol
How does one make this flashable? I did move it via rootexplorer but it's not showing the extra settings after boot.

[script][share] AMARULLZ DATA TO SD-EXT(A2SDX)

Guys ..I recommend you to try the following a2sdx script by amarulz..It is awesome..
Original thread-http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1310309
It is an alternative to a2sd and link2sd ...but it uses a different method than link2sd or darktremor a2sd...resulting in faster performance
Internal memory is shown as 1 GB in this screenshot;
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Prerequisites
1.You must have /system/etc/init.d
2.You must have sd-ext partition
3.You should not have any a2sd or any other such script like darktremor or link2sd installed.You must uninstall them or delete them from /system/etc/init.d folder
Installation
1.Extract the zip.Copy 40ad2sdx into /system/etc/init.d
2.Change permissions to rwxrwxrwx inroot explorer(or adb chmod 777)
3.Reboot
4.Be patient...it may take 5 minutes or more to boot for the first time after copying the script as the script copies and symlinks the apps between sdext and /data.
5.That's it. No apps or terminal required!
Did you notice any real improvement on performance? What do you believe would be its advantage against link2sd for example?
Kasnar said:

The secret is in the method of symlinking.
Darktremor/s2e do not distinguish between system apps and 3rd party apps ...so decrease performance.
For me with about 80 applications darkrtremor a2sd system had become slow but with amarulz a2sdx system performance was like when I did not have apps.
This is the explanation by amarulz:
Another advantage -No app or terminal setup required. Just paste,give permission,reboot and you are done.

It works fine for me.There is nothing in the script which is dangerous provided you do not have any other a2sd script in init.d. Only you have to find those scripts in init.d. The rest is just copying and giving permissions.Took me just 2 minutes.

try modified script by alex-v . it's also move dalvik cache to ext
Another information :
-Your phone already rooted
-Better use this script before you install any apllication (fresh rom) except root browser/explorer or terminal to copying or change script permission.

Dont want to screw my ace with this...satisfy with link2sd...

It works fine for me.There is nothing in the script which is dangerous provided you do not have any other a2sd script in init.d. Only you have to find those scripts in init.d. The rest is just copying and giving permissions.Took me just 2 minutes.

What rom are you running? I'm running Stock Lite v6 and when I copy the file, set the permissions and reboot it just hangs and keeps hanging
it just slows my device
This one is truly remarkable. I'll hit thanks a thousand times if that's possible. )
I tried it ages ago. It's a clever idea, but messed up my phone. I modified the script and was going to post it here, but it didn't work as expected.

Many people don't understand this.
Would be great if you do a "How To" w/Review video.
That would be great.
Looks very interesting thanks for this

What root explorer do you use? I tried Astro and it did not let me write the files to the directories, gave me errors every time, and when I tried individually it said could not write also.... Going to look for another root explorer

You may need to make sure that the permissions are set right. ES will change them. Just long press the files, go to properties, then change the permissions.
So we copy each of the files in the /system directory of the smartactions folders into their respective folders in the phones /system?
for instance there is a folder for the app, all of those files go into the /system/app folder of our phones?? etc...

Yes
As soon as I set up a rule it force closes, and then continues to do so each time. I'm using a standard PA JB rom.
