Hi, few concerns I have with the Xperia Neo I would love answered. I currently have a Motorola Defy, and am trying to pick between this or the HTC One V as a replacement phone. On my Defy, I have about 1GB internal memory free for installing apps after putting on a custom ROM.
The specs say 320MB available to the user - is this still the case with ICS custom ROMs like CM9? Since there is no App2SD on CM9 yet, how do you fit games etc on only 320MB internal memory?
How do you find the battery life of the Neo?
Thanks in advance!
Hello
with little things like different kernel and baseband you get extreme battery life on stock and you can move apps to sd on cm9
you can get up to 400 MB internal storage with most of the custom kernels lying around here for Neo i've been using Neo for about 9 months and it have never let me down, so all i can say is go for it! by the way, battery life is pretty decent and;
with this ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1518563 and this Kernel: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1521309
the battery life of neo just blows out of the roof
I know that I'm not answering on your question regarding internal memory.
I would like to point you to something different. Phone housing
Don't know how are you with handling phone, or if you use rubber case, but defy is known as durable phone, and you can do pretty much with it, Neo is in plastic housing, back plastic, sides(with silver look) also plastic, pressing left silver side I hear squeak noises(though now at the moment, I don't hear them lol).
anw, just wanted to bring you this to your attention
Actually, for me the neo v was a decent replacement for my third defy...
You wont struggle for space, use systemcleanup and link2sd
But you need to remember there's no recovery partition or flashing kernels from cwm.

I'd say: get the One V, unless you really like Sony stock fw. It's newer, so longer updates, not more expensive, and better build quality.

I'm also on Neo(MT15i) and never had a memory issue when on this ICS rom bcoz it has option to change your internal with amarullz, and this one if u wanna pure stock ICS and it can apply amarullz too....but before that you need to partition your sdcard to how much space you like..(ex:512MB,1024MB)..this sdext will change with your internal memory.
Maybe this post will help...
how much is the battery life.? I will get a neo on wednesday..

I am planning to get a new phone, but i dunno which one is better. I have 2 phones in mind. Motorola DEFY+ or Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo V. Defy+ cost slightly more than the Neo V. Hence, it puts me in a dilemma.
Can someone help me out, and share your opinions.
Well here are some comparisons: http://www.phonearena.com/phones/compare/Sony-Ericsson-Xperia-neo-V,Motorola-DEFY/phones/6114,5728, http://www.mobilesmspk.net/compare/sony-ericsson-xperia-neo-v/motorola-defyplus, and http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=4122&idPhone2=4098. I would go with the Sony Ericsson Xperia neo V. It has the most customizations available so far (custom roms and kernels) and it matches (almost) all of the specs of the Defy+. The only downside is it's internal memory (which is far less than the Defy+) and it doesn't have gorilla glass.

Do you know what internal memory is? It's just a preference to have a device with a higher internal memory (for more storage of apps and games), but it doesn't have to be such a bother if you use something like a2sd, etc.
Hi,
As subject says.
I am having right now white xperia mini pro But i am planning to buy Xperia U. Should I buy???
would u suggest to buy? if not may u would lik to tell my why
I will be really thankful if u help me, i m really confused
The only real differences are the Software and the design.
My mom got an Xperia U and it's really awesome, the only downsides are the camera (bad in darkness) and no MicroSD card slot.
The Xperia U has a very beautiful design and a camera shutter button. The One V is thin and simple but the chin is very ugly and so unneccesary.
On the software you'll have to tell yourself, I personally like the Sony UI and Sony has some great apps, but also a lot of bloatware, I've only had Xperia Phones so I haven't had a TouchWiz or Sense phone, but from what I've seen I think that Sense is really ugly EXCEPT for Sense 4 (I think the One V has Sense 4) which is actually really beautiful and ICS optimized, also the Xperia U won't get ICS for a few months but if that doesn't concern you then I recommend the Xperia U.

I won't recommend xperia U.Personally I don't have it.My friend recently bought it and he regrets it.The main draw backs are no support of Devs(atleast for now).No ICS out of the box.Although sony promised an update we don't know when(correct me if I'm wrong)
So a better choice would be (according to me) Galaxy Nexus. It has got the best dev support. You get "instant" updates. And stock experience is what I like.So add a few bucks get Gnex.Only down side is bit a lag in 3d games but better than Xperia U.And other alternative is keep your xperia mini and get the Nexus 7 tablet if u aren't committed to a phone .
Hope I helped You.Think twice before buying

I was gonna recommend Galaxy Nexus too but it's a little more expensive.
You're right, Xperia U has a small community, but it's still pretty new and Sony Mobile isn't that big in the US, mostly sold in Sweden and Japan. Also Gingerbread SUCKS but if you're patient you can wait for ICS, and this guy just got ICS for his Xperia Mini so he's used to GB.

I think Gnex is not in India i guess, correct if i am wrong.
The phones just launched and the dev support will be there slowly i think.
Out of the Box Ics is not a importnt thing when u can get it by updating later or sooner
I already got dell streak with 5inch screen and ipad. so i guess i wont go for gnex7 tab

Well you could always hope for a direct Jelly Bean upgrade, but Sony are so lazy with skinning Jelly Bean so I wouldn't think so.
But Jelly beans on Xperia U .......eehhhhh
wen Ics update decreases the RAM then i think JB will kill it. i mean JB will be requireing alot space.
btw, any1 know eta for ics on U
I had an x10 xperia for a few years with MIUI installed since january, just gave it to my dad after upgrading to the Xperia Ion. I really like the Ion, but miss the physical buttons, lanyard, and the MIUI rom from Oodie was working so good on my x10. If x10 had HDMI, front camera, and a little more ram, I would have never let it go. Btw I gave it too my dad because he needed a phone, the Ion was free so I took my upgrade, and he got x10. Ion now has a working stable MIUI, but without HDMI, some theme issues, and call recording only records you. Im considering trading/selling Ion to get a Neo, not the V version I want 8mp cam. Is this a dumb move?

ya bro... it would be a dumb move.... there is no point in downgrading your cell phone..:cyclops::cyclops::cyclops:
A totally dumb move in my opinion
The neo in no way can be compared to the ion
And FYI, the hardware buttons on the neo/v suck!
They turn to copper in no time, and even start to squeak a little, like mine.
I will recommend you to stay with your ion.

I can understand it, but within a year you will be disappointed with the lag when there's a heavier android version.
Battery life is great for the Neo and it's a very compact handset.
Via Mobile
I wouldn't call it dumb move. I have Neo V and im enjoying it! Its1 year old phone, its getting Jelly Bean, i overclocked it to 1.6 gHz and its working amazing, even hard games, my Neo V runs FIFA 12 and Amazing Spiderman without ANY lag!
I dont agree about buttons, i really enjoy using hardware key on my Neo V, i think that is the same situation as original Neo.
If you dont like them, you can always flash a AOKP ROM and have Navigation Onscreen buttons.
Battery life is average, it can last a day with some average usage (I use Neo V for browsing, viewing facebook, playing some games like FIFA 12, Bad Piggies and all those stuff and battery last from morning charging to point when i want to sleep. It has HDMI, and front camera.
If you dont want THE LATEST AND GREATEST THEN DEFFINETLY GET NEO V OR ORIGINAL NEO. IF YOU WANT NEWEST AND BEST THEN STICK WITH ION, I would be happy with ION if i had one.
dont go for neo my friend...
stick to ion

I'm thinking of buying the Xperia U but I have a few questions.
How is the call sound quality, headphone quality and loudspeaker quality like?
How is the screen quality like and how are the graphics like on high end HD games?
Is the browsing very fast on this phone? Does zooming in and out on desktop websites lag a lot?
Has anyone's screen stopped working or has their been any hardware failures that have happened to a lot of xperia u's?
Finally, how long do you think it will be before the phone becomes out of date? I want to use it for maybe 3 years after purchase so I need to know if it is future proof.
Sorry for asking so many questions but I want to be entirely sure the phone is ideal for me. Thanks if you bothered to read this far and double thanks if you answered any of my questions.

I would recommend you to increase the budget a bit and buy Xperia P instead Xperia U.
Cause 1GB RAM will give you better smoothness than XU's 512 MB RAM.
Also SONY is still keeping XP in their mind while releasing Official updates like JB. [XU have Unofficial JB Port]
No offense to the XU users. It's just what i think that while buying android handset, it's better to go for a better hardware spec. Off course if u plan to increase your budget.
Guy above is right, i still regret buying xperia sola, when i could pay 30 more euros and buy xperia p... It is MUCH better and worth the money... I also think that its developing community is more active than xperia u... No offense of course
Also, u should know that a device like mine it is said that because sony reached the target of sales for this device, now they dont give a damn about it.... We all rely on xda to get jelly bean while xperia P DOES HAVE official jelly bean from sony...
Finally, technology is evolving SO FAST that u need to buy an expensive device so that it can compete with future device... (my opinion)
Does the extra 512MB RAM make a big difference from xperia u to xperia p? The processor and GPU are the same but stuff like screen and camera is better on the xperia p
Trust me, xperia sola with 512 mb of ram barely gives 150mb available, logically xperia p should give u at LEAST 300 mb of free ram...
As far as i know, true gaming devices must have at least 1gb of ram...
Any other comments on the Xperia u? What do you use it for on a daily basis?
If u dont play heavy games then it will do the job BUT IF U:
1) Are sure that 4 gb of storage is not enough (like me). Remember xperia u cannot take sd card...
2) Want to play heavy games, i am pretty sure that xperia p will do better
If u meet either the first or second condition then i urge u to buy xperia p but if u dont then feel free to buy xperia p... My sola is the same as xperia u but i can use an sd card and i must say that since i am not a hard core gamer it does the job pretty damn well
Does the xperia p have a slightly yellow tinted screen? In some videos I have seen the the white looks slightly yellow. Can anyone with an xperia P confirm whether the white is pure white or tinted yellow? Also, after upgrading the firmware to jellybean on Xperia P, do you get various problems with apps such as gallery app not working and does the phone lag or does it get faster? Sorry for all the questions. I just want to be sure before I purchase it

Actually there is no device exists which is completely error free. You just have to make it right by your self. The situation is quite same for Android Update also. Check the General Section, you will find a thread there named as - Xperia P JB Review.
Many users posted there JB experience there. That should be useful for you. And as for the Yellow Tint, Sony took care of that issue, after first few shipments of all of their models.
Hey guys ! I'm Running rooted and S-off HTC Incredible S. Its okay but outdated now. We are fully up to date in software, but the hardware is behind. Looking for a new phone is so difficult right now..
I have a budget of $300-$400 Aus. Samsung SIII is a little old now, N4 has no storage.. I wandering is Sony a good option? Would you recomend any Sony device in that price range?
Thanks

Headphone quality-sounds good , the default headphones aren't good enough u'll surely need to buy a new 1
Loudspeaker-Totally disappointed by the loudspeaker
screen quality-Display is just awesome with 280ppi
Browsing used to lagg when I had too many apps installed..otherwise it works good
No hardware faults as such
Hahahaha there is nothing called as future-proof..U is already outdated, maybe you should go for P instead.
I have doubt in getting satisfaction with recent releases sony device, compared to my x10i.
Also, the reason behind this change over is due to heating and restarting issue for past few days.
Even, After back to stock rom and relocking the bootloader perfect baseband flashes. Nothing helps me to ride out of this issue.
Hopefully, i concluded that it should be a hardware issue.
So, i need to miss my x10i badly :'(
If you can please suggest me for good change over.

It's now become a music/media phone with Neutron Music/XiiaLive/Video players and a mobile file server.
Syllable G18 Bluetooth headphones keep the phone sounding sweet.
Thinking how good my XPERIA X10i still is, I thought, gee, the XPERIA L must be heaps better....
Hmm... that may lose some of the sparkle when one looks a bit closer..
XPERIA L appears to only support Class 6 MicroSD cards and maybe nothing over 32GB.
USB-OTG doesn't seem to be supported from what I read.
Sony is indicating the XPERIA SP needs to be referred to service support if touch screen issues are noted, so indicates HW issuse and not something a SW patch can fix.
Have an XPERIA S and that's in a world of pain after JB upgrade, where XDA Developers will probably be left to pick up the pieces if Sony doesn't address the many voices of dismay.
Third JB update mooted for early July, so it may not all end in tears.
Sony is not at it's best at the moment with firmware updates, but I'm sure they'll want to prove us doubters wrong. :fingers-crossed:
Given the above, I may enjoy my XPERIA X10i for a while longer before it is retired.

You may be onto something there.
I can purchase an XPERIA LT25i for approx USD350.00 which is less than what I'd paid for an XPERIA LT26i
The XPERIA V has all the 'modern' features and an S4 Snapdragon chipset with an Adreno 225
The XPERIA V also has a good chance of getting Android 4.3 as the Adreno 225 supports OpenGL ES 3.0
Pity I already have an XPERIA S. [mumbling something about JB 4.1.2]
I saw a post were some dude in Asia lost his XPERIA V at the beach in the ocean while videoing and it kept on videoing for some time after it was lost.
It was found and returned to the owner some days later after being dragged from the ocean. All still working and the under water video was on YouTube. Can't say better than that.
