I give up!
I have a rooted Transformer Prime and cannot view any movies from my UV movies associated with my flixster account.
My first prime was not rooted and viewing movies was not a problem. I could stream them out download them. This prime was replaced under warranty, so I decided to root the second prime so backups/restores would be easier (using titanium backup).
Now that I've rooted, backing up, and hopefully restores, are a lot easier, but now I've lost ability to view streams or downloads of the UV movies on my account.
For the record, I've tried the temp unroot function on voodoo rootkeeper. It does allow me to view my movies on stream but still can't view the movies if downloaded. I've tried different video players but no success.
this means back to toting my portable DVD player on my flights...again!

He means Voodoo RootKeeper. It's on the market and is free (I think). Excellent tool.

I use a simple ripper for my DVD collection and load a set to sd. With Dice, they run great. Netflix works for streaming unbought content. I don't use UV for content, so I can't attest to the same issue. Try searching the site to see if other devices may have the same issue though when rooted. Suggestions on trying to keep from dragging around multiple devices.

So I was browsing the Tab forum and I saw that there was a hack to make Hulu work on the Tab even though Hulu tries to block mobile devices. Here's the link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=855898
What I wanted to know is, will this work for Archos too? I know that there is already a hacked version of Flash for the Archos, so I know it's possible to do this.
Any thoughts?

Dunno if I'm way off here, but wouldn't changing your User Agent fix this?
just use dolphin hd browser and set user agent to desktop
I believe what hulu does is it detects what kind of flash your using. it doesn't accept the flash that adobe released for mobile devices. so user agent doesn't solve it. but I can't say I know if that flash hack works for Archos, I might test it later
User agent does not work for me in Dolphin HD
No success. Any other tips? I am willing to try.
I followed his instructions to hexedit the file and HULU is now working in Dolphin Browser. But it is so slow and choppy that is completely unwatchable.
We might have better luck once we get the GPU optimized version of flash from archos.

Theoretically using a proxy website (or anonymous browsing website) might work. However since it transmits from hulu to another site, and then to you it might be slower than other methods (like simple browser masking).

Are the other videos you watch online choppy as well? Where did you get your version of flash? (Is it one downloaded from the market, or is it the gregmattersen droid x version that was posted on the archosfans site?)
I used gregmattersen droid x version. I just tried a youtube video and it was choppy too but not as much as the Hulu site.

yeah but the bitrates aren't even comparable. Hulu uses 5x or more what youtube does on SD... that means lag in streaming and lag in processing.
I think the optimized version of flash is the answer, once Archos gives it to us. nice to know we can hexedit it and get it working though

It may not be ideal, but for the time being people who are interested in watching Hulu might be able to get it to run through the widget linked on the page below. Since its running through a widget in a smaller size it may not be as taxing on the system and allow video to play smoother (until an optimized flash comes out).

What version of flash did you hack? I would think you would need root to do this? Can you sure your hacked version of flash so I can test it?

I used the one from this post http://forum.archosfans.com/viewtopic.php?p=284672#p284672
Sorry I don't have the files anymore, I deleted them since it's totally unwatchable plus I don't have root anymore with the latest firmware.
I don't know if you all heard, but Hulu Plus (the paid version) will be coming to Android soon.
archos 70 hulu not working
ok first off, i am a major league amateur when it comes to hacking, rooting or anything so i will need bigtime simple step by step instructions.
i have an archos 70 with the latest firmware update. i wanna watch netflix and hulu on it via my hdtv. i know hulu blocks droid/mobile devices. i tried the user agent switch, the hulu widget and the fixed flask apk. i probably am doing something wrong but idk what.
any and all help will be appreciated. thanks!!
I think the only way this will ever work with any margin of success is to capture the stream that is coming from Hulu on a computer and recompress the content to something with an appropriate resolution/quality for playback on the device.
Or download the torrents of your favorite shows...
archos 70 streaming netflix and hulu
so far i have had no luck with anything. tried teamviewer on my computer, using the archos to access it, but the video was so laggy it was unwatchable. sure hope someone figures out how to trick hulu or netflix so i can stream it thru my archos 70 onto my hdtv.
again, total noob here, with no clue how to hack anything but willing to learn.
I've read that you can't use the native Netflix app on the tablet if your nook is rooted. Is this true? I have a nook tablet on the way and have always rooted my android devices. If its rooted do you lose the HD functionality of Netflix? I know you can play through browser or through the market app but I want it to play from the well received stock nook app. Any help is appreciated

Use OTA Rootkeeper and temporarily unroot before launching the stock Netflix app.
First, you do not lose the ability to use the Native App.
Second, there is no HD playback, given that the screen isn't capable of HD playback. If you want to know if any resolution is lost in playback, if your device is rooted, then the answer is no.
It's technically "streaming in HD" even though our devices have too small of a screen size for it to be noticed, but yes. You keep the functionality of the app with root. I watch Torchwood and How I Met Your Mother all the time on my rooted nook tablet.

Correct, however, the Nook Tablet's 600 lines of resolution are still more than 480p. With the hardware scaling, 720p streams should look a fair amount better than 480p.
Thank you... guess I mixed that up with Amazon vod.

Yep, video works fine on the NT. Amazon Video too (but that will require the OTA Rootkeeper app as the simplest solution).
this is just a suggestion for anyone that is having the same issues as me, which is simply constant lag/buffering issues with the stock youtube app. running on what i felt was a fast enough internet connection, i would constantly have buffering issues both on HD and non-HD (a lot more consistently with HD).
after looking for weeks, i found an app called TubeMate (http://goo.gl/mzrZT)
it is currently only available via the amazon app store. it seems to have a few other features besides viewing the videos (like downloading, downloading as mp3, etc..) but all i really care for is being able to stream a video in HD quality w/out looking embarrassed.
hopefully this will help some of you that are also experiencing this issue. if you aren't, well i'm really happy for you.
Since its a free app, upload the apk.
didn't realize DLing from the amazon appstore would be a big deal. but here you go.

for the guys involved in this thread so far, are you also experiencing buffering issues with your prime and if so, let us know if TubeMate helps out. i've certainly seen a HUGE improvement with all youtube videos to a point where i only stream HD now.
The app works great and also allows you to download video or save it as an .mp3
I have used this app for years on all my devices and on my prime since I purchased it. Wouldn't use anything else great app

i have installed latest tube mate app but can not download any video. it gives an error.
screen shot is attached.
please help
I use it to download videos, not stream. The UI is rather ugly ;P
Can someone clarify: Is this app a REPLACEMENT app that uses youtube (what I think it is)? Or is it an app that somehow optimizes the native youtube app (what I hope it is)?

it's another app that does not optimize the youtube app.
while i love it and still use it, i must put my disclaimer that the issue with the laggy youtube ended up being the Wifi/BT issue. beyond that, it still speeds up buffering better than the stock app.

I haven't had any real problems with streaming vids, but I might check it out regardless. Faster buffering is always nice.

Okay, just wanted to thank you for pointing out the app. It's great, love it. I' ve hit the thanks button.
the ui is ugly in this app but it works amazingly faster than stock app. plus it lets you download the videos or you can download them as mp3 to listen in music player. works great. I love the look of stock YouTube app but sick of the buffering on some vids. I have high speed wireless so no reason it should be buffering like that. this app eliminates that basically.
whenever i click to watch a video in tube mate it pops up asking me which player to use - youtube or tubemate- i choose tubemate but then the video doesnt load...anyone else had this problem>?
should be called buffer be gone!!
Gotta say +1000000 for this app, I use Crackle to watch some movies, took away all the buffering, youtube too no more buffering..... excellent app!!!
Is it or does the new version of Allshare app blows in comparison to the old one (S2)?
I'm assuming I'd have to root and deodex my phone in order to copy the old one?

Agreed.. I want the old AllShare back! I tried pushing the apk, but it only starts then FCs. :crying:
Here's a couple of the bad things I've noticed:
The new one is not backwords compatible with the PC version of the Allshare app, therefore installing another web based app
Any video I stream from the phone has to buffer every 10 seconds, unlike the old one, same video, is silky smooth with no hicups
I can't browse by folders!!!!!!!!!! I have scroll through hundreds of videos!!!!!!!!
How would Twonky compare for DLNA streaming?

I pulled the Dlna.apk (allshare) from my sgs2 and it seems to work fine. Only problem is its hard to see some of the fonts for some reason. Still usable though and am attaching it here in case anyone wants to try. Just copy it to system apps. No force closes for me and yeah you need to be rooted. I felt the same about new allshare so I use the old version
Oh and the other issue is your media server will see your device as i9100 since its from that device

Also, I just realized the other day that you can go into More Settings -> Nearby devices -> File Sharing. You can also share that way. However, playing with it I am not able to stream MKV container videos to my TV. Whereas with the Allshare App I attached above works no problem. You can stream MKVs without issue. The only issue is that allshare is hard to see because of the white theme and the thumbnails look a little pixelated. Its works fine though
Yeah, I miss original Allshare too. I can't seem to find my Onkyo Receiver to ouput to.
I updated to ICS and tried the flixster app I downloaded and also from the website itself and cannot get any of my movies I own to play.
Is flixster compatible with the Rezound? If so, anything special that needs to be done to make it work?
Using the website, the loading of the movie just spins and never plays. From the app, I get an error message about a security problem.
I'm not rooted.
Thanks!

you might need flash player! keep looking in Themes and Apps and im sure you'll find it.
because the flash player app development team stopped supporting it on after Gingerbread devices.
I have Adobe Flash 11 and utilize Dolphin Browser to play videos from other apps, websites etc. with no problem.
Do you use Flixster on your Rezound?
If I know it works on the Rezound from folks using it, then I'll keep trying. Otherwise I've learned not to chase gooses especially when I have other devices I can use for Flixster!
