I bought one on ebay for $9.50 coming from China. Made my touch screen go haywire. This one has the usb end so I can use my stock usb cable to it. I wanted to get it to extend my cable. I've also seen one with the 40pin charging connector on ebay and amazon that some reviewers mention had the same effect on touch screen. You can test yours by not touching the tablet and just use your finger across the screen. Once you touch the tablet with the other hand it grounds the tablet and works fine. I'm not sure I would trust these chargers not to damage the tablet eventually since they are not properly grounded. Here's a video i sent to the seller who promptly gave me a refund. So just be careful...

Had the same happen with mine. Has a fixed 40 pin plug. Told the seller and he send me another one -guess what - same thing.
Be careful ordering these. They have issue as shown.
Given that I spent $500 on the tablet, and another $150 on my dock I don't know it is really worthwhile to skimp when it comes to buying a charger for my Prime.
These off-brand Chinese chargers have zero quality control and there is no way to know what voltage they are actually delivering to the tablet. They could be destroying your tablet's battery.
IMO, if you need an extra charging cable you are better off just spending the $30 on an original Asus TF101/201 charging adapter.
Have mine put together from adaptaplug stuff at Radioshack. More quality control than Asus as I haven't had this one fall and have killed two of theirs. Bought the cheap one just because.

Stop being cheap and spend money on the OEM charger. Buying third party electrical stuff with sensitive electronics isn't a good idea.

If anything, I think it is more of a douche move to spend 2x the money on an OEM part to get essentially the same product as those from over seas

To put the opposite spin on your story, I have purchased TONS of aftermarket no-name chargers for cell phones and other electronics, and at least 1/3rd of them were bad. I mean bad, in that they damaged the batteries of the devices they were used with.
Many of them work fine even to this day, but one bad one can turn your $10-15 in savings into a $500 loss pretty quick.
Its your device, and it is your money but keep in mind these no name unbranded chargers come with some risks.
I'm all for saving money too and I buy a lot of 3rd party accessories. But in this case though I really made a mistake of trying to save $15. You can say youre saving 100% but really that depends on the actual value. Thats like saying if you can get an OEM part for $2 but a knock off is $1 and the $1 dollar can break easily, you cant say you would still buy the $1 one. Now if you were saving $50 or more then yea that logic makes sense.
Here's another example, my friend has both iphone and an HTC phone. Instead of buying 1 charger for each she bought a 2 in 1 so she can save $. Turns out it was outputting too much amp on the micro usb side of the cable even though it says compatible. And guess what, she damaged her HTC phone. So even though she ended up saving $20 shes now out of a $500 phone. She didn't have insurance.
Anyhow after I saw what the charger did to my tablet I started googling for others and they all look identical to what I bought, so I'm assuming theyre coming from the same source in china. And the one on Amazon has the same issue. If you really still want save $ then atleast find one that doesn't look the same as the one I posted in the video.

This proprietary charger is really pissing me off. I too buy a lot of ebay chargers, but I typically spend the extra dollar for name brand. Not necessarily the OEM name brand but some name brand (LG, HTC, Moto, etc).
In my living room, I have a LG wall block, a 6 ft usb extension cord and a LG micro usb cord. So I unlocked the LG micro usb part and plugged in the Asus cord. Tablet wouldn't come on (yes I let it die). So I changed out LG block for the Asus block but left the 6 ft extension in. The tablet powered on but even after about 15 minutes still showed 0% battery. So I powered it off for an hour and powered it back on. It was at 5%. So I removed the extension cord which meant I had to set it down to charge (with it powered on). Within an hour or two it was at 75%.
I may at least buy a USB 3.0 extension cord do I can charge and play at the same time. Just which they'd put micro usb's in tablets like they do phones.

No charger that was included with a phone will charge the Prime. The Prime needs 15v to really charge and most cell phone charging blocks only output 5v. If you turn the Prime all the way off, it will charge very slowly but that isn't all that useful since it could take longer than 15 hours to fully charge the Prime from 0% to full using 5v source.
Also, because of the Prime's higher power requirements if you want to use a USB cable as an extension you will need to make sure that you use a USB 3 compatible cable. USB 2 isn't wired up to support higher voltage so anything plugged into the cable will only charge at 5v which is true to USB 1/2 specification.
Don't get mad at the Prime's proprietary charger, pretty much all 10" tablets have the same kind of situation including the iPad, Galaxy Tab, Xoom, etc.

Yea, I figured that out. I'm not mad, persay, at Asus as every tablet I've owned has had a proprietary charger. I'm currently the highest bidder on a OEM charger and usb cord on ebay. I've checked out the usb 3.0 cords for about $6. I may pick one of those up if I win the charger.

They're on Amazon for about that much, too. I just had to buy a new one because my original charger broke.
I am able to charge my Prime from my computer's usb port, but the dock can't be on, and it charges REALLY slow. It took about 30 hours on the computer to go from 40% to 95%.

If i remember correctly, its 1700mah, larger than the stock g1 battery so its plenty juice to fully charge your g1 atleast once. As you can see in the video, its not very big, and its suprisingly lightweight, the g1 weighs significantly more than the charger. Hell, the box it came in weighed as much as the charger.
It takes longer to charge the charger than it does my g1, for obvious reasons, but it charges my g1 as fast as when my g1 is plugged into a wall.
Im definately picking up a 2nd one of these, for the price you just cant go wrong.

I've seen a bunch of these (I think this is the only portable charger Motorola has) here in Spain for 8$ on sale in a bargains bin at the local market, but I always thought it was intended for a much smaller battery, something like 850mah or 900...

i havnt gone a complete charge on it, but earlier today i went from 17% to 85% and it was still blinking green (the charger) showing that it had above 20% battery life left, so i think it might, ill fully drain my g1 saturday morning and see if it really does give it a "full" charge and let you know.
on a side note, the charger, while being cheap in price, does NOT feel cheap in quality
if you look at the picture, the slide in the center has a bar in the center of it going left to right, its a button, you must be slightly pressing on it in order to slide the slider up, and same to retract it, so it wont accidently slide out and damage the usb tip, it actually locks into place forward and back, and the greatest thing, if you watch the video youll see, the g1 seems to have its mini usb port flipped upside down IMO, so does this charger, so it charges facing the front, the odd thing is the bottom of the charger where you plug in a mini usb to charge the charger, is right side up (opposite of top) lol
the texture of the charger feels like a OEM battery cover for a g1, smooth but without the gloss like the front of a g1

no my mustang broke down and i ended up relying on my g1 for most of the day, but i have to say, it was a life savor having it around, ill attempt to do it tonight, i have to go pretty far so ill use the gps and play music to kill the battery and when i get there ill attempt to charge it via the external charger
on stock battery got a full charge with power to spare, im not rocking a 2200mah, its not fully charging it, but its getting about 60% of the way there

1700mah is the one i got for 13 bucks on amazon, i believe its the only one motorola makes, but it defiantely gave me a full charge in about a hour or so (lost track of time)
definately worth the buy, even more worth it for $8 usd

as seen in the picture, when you slide the center up, the mini usb comes out of the top, its viewable from the top if you look straight down at it, so it just simply slides out to be able to plug into the phone
on the bottom of the charger, is a mini usb port, just like on the g1, it doesnt have a cover, nor does it flip out, its simply there
basically:
use your g1's charger and plug it into bottom of motorola charger, and plug motorola charger into g1 and youll have both charging at the same time in a straight line, watch the video posted in my first post after reading this and it should all make sence
and no, there is no special adapter, nor a special charger, it comes with a charger, but its no different than the charger that came with your g1, and it works when being charged off of a usb 2.0 port on your computer/laptop

I did figure out way around the YouTube block. Put
PWN in front of the YouTube domain in the address and you can download the video opposed to stream.
My reasoning for purchasing this is simple. I 4wheel a lot and I no longer have a cigerette lighter in my Jeep because I turned my Cigerette lighter power lead into a feed to power my in cab winch controller.
Now with this I have a power source for my phone beyond the normal battery when I use the GPS.
However I did some looking around beause I'd personally need a longer cord because I couldn't do the device to device thing because I know it would get broke. Found some mini usb to mini usb extensions on the net. Ebay wanted $25 a cable, but you can find them cheaper. I'm guessing shorter the wire less line loss, but we are not talking 10+ feet here. Just 1 to 3 feet.

I had it plugged in and oops I knocked it off the G1 and the adapter piece bent. It still holds a charge and charges my phone but I want one with a cord so it doesn't happen again. Anyone seen the HTC portable batteries?

Staples seem to have them on clearance for as low as $6. I have a friend of mine in NY buying 4 of them for me. Since I commute by train, it is so nice to have a way to charge or top-off my G1.
I plug two of them together when charging.
No Cables..thats what I love.

So with this charger you can charge battery and phone only with AC power.

Why you want this? You can charge the phone directly with a USB to USB-mini cable, and if you have a laptop and use it for any length of time you will plug it in (so one of the cheap plug in chargers would work for this purpose).
For the above reasons I don't think anyone has made a device such as you describe.

whats wrong with a cradle charger for that? just because it has the dock for the phone doesnt mean you have to use it, and you can get the cradles for cheap on ebay, and ive never seen one just for charging batteries

OK, you must be going to some rough country where there may not be power, correct? I think you may be stuck with simply powering the phone via the USB cable. So long as your manual hand crank only puts out the standard USB voltage, you should be fine.
He didn't want the charger...he's using the hard crank
if you have a multimeter you can check the voltage of the hand crank to determine if its safe to charge the phone directly

Nice diagram you drew out that CLEARLY spells out what you are looking for. Not sure how other people could not understand what you are looking for, as that's something I require for any new phone platform I use. The ability to charge a spare battery from USB power (5v, 500ma+) for when you are somewhere you need to swap batteries and keep the spare charged at all times, etc.
So to answer the OPs original inquiry:
1. HTC OEM spare battery charger, model "HTC BC S300". Uses USB power to charge the spare battery as it has no direct AC input.
2. Seidio's charger that allows for AC or USB powered charging of a spare battery, model "BD3-BCSI3HTP2-BK"
This one is pretty decent as you have two options to power the charger. I can confirm it works either way. The other benefit is you can just replace the charging plate to support other battery types. I bring this charger on any extended trip I go on and keep one in my luggage at all times.
You'll have to google for the model numbers I put in quotes as I do not have enough posts to include URLs in my replies yet. The first hit you get on google should show the relevant info.
As for how you obtain your USB power safely, that's a separate issue that you are on your own.

35 dollars is pretty steep for that IMO
and for the record, i understood what he wants, i was just curios why the combo dock+battery charger was unacceptable, since it has a USB powered battery charger (at least the one i got did, 25 dollars shipped on ebay, even came with a second battery, much better than the 35 for the OEM battery charger)

Oops, I just edited the post you quote. That one was for the original Touch Pro, NOT the TP2.
He wants one that will charge FROM the USB port, evidently so that he can use a portable USB hand-powered generator to charge the batteries. The ones on E-bay will output USB power, but not charge a battery FROM the USB power.
Are you saying you found an e-bay model that charges from the USB? Can you post a link?

No worries.
The Touch Diamond and Pro use the same default 1500mah battery the TP2's do. So the HTC OEM spare battery charger would work fine. That's one thing I love about HTC is they try to maintain the same type of batteries in most of their model line ups. Even their new Sprint EVO phone uses the same battery, nice!
That Seidio product link you listed is the same as the model number I posted. Good point on the cable. You would need a male to male type A USB cable to run from USB power. I carry various USB adapter plugs when I use it.
As for defaultdotxbe's post, seems you have the same concerns... he/she may have overlooked that the OP wanted a charger that runs off USB power. I have yet to see any of the combo docks on fleabay run strictly off USB vs providing USB power.

I guess it is the angle of the picture on the first battery. It is squished flat, and I thought the contacts were on the side rather than the bottom.

its actually a 10 cent capacitor (or battery) that makes any charger reliable, like my 2 dollar car charger

the cranking isnt putting voltage over the USB directly, it charges a button cell battery which in turn charges the phone, so it works like a UPS for a computer system and regulates the voltage going to the phone, so its safe to charge directly (im actually thinking of buying that one myself, lol)

it applies USB power directly on moving pins to charge battery.
As usb voltage is compatible for HTC TP2 battery charging it will work as portable usb charger.

No Apple cable will work on this device. The Transformer has a proprietary charger interface, so the cable would have to be made specifically for this device.
Similarly, all Apple product chargers use their own proprietary interfaces, so chargers made for iPhones or iPads will only be made to work with iPhones or iPads, not other devices.
And the funny part is that someone responded...

Haha, no iPhone cable would not work with Asus. Last I checked, Asus cable was proprietary as well.
Wait a little, soon someone's gonna dismantle one and they will be anywhere (monoprice, ebay)... (i guess(hope), the apple cable actually is everywhere even if it is proprietary...)

I would love an additional cable. I'm going on a trip and I could just see me losing the one and only way to charge the Transformer. Stupid proprietary cables. I still love my Asus Transformer, but we need uniformity.

I believe they're just referring to the charger itself not the apple sync cable. And no that isn't likely to work as the ASUS charger gives out 15V/1.2A on one of the pins unique to USB3
The 6ft USB 3 Male/Female extension cable is now back in stock on monoprice. For those that haven't been reading up, this is essentially an extension to charge your Transformer since the extra pins in USB 3 are used for power.

Bumping this thread. I find it hard to believe (or at least surprising) that this has been out 3 months now and I still can't find any third party replacement cables and/or 15v chargers. Paying $25 for a factory one is simply not something I can do, it just makes me sick to my stomach.
The most important thing I would like to find is the cable. I did buy a monoprice USB extension cable, which at least makes using the device while charging possible - but it is no solution in the case of this factory cable breaking in any way. I always like to have an extra charging cable on hand, and usually pay $1.99 or less for such things for my other phones and tablets.

I agree with you. This reminds me too much of the original asus eee pc. There were no additional chargers nor expansion ssd (mini pcie) available for months. People were coming up with all sorts of work around ideas. Argh.
The idea of not having a replacement cable and charger does make me very uncomfortable. This is really unacceptable, and I hope Asus fixes it immediately.
I have to think about a post I read: just buy a second one and immediately return it with the bad charger if yours goes bad. This seems to screw the retailer, but hopefully Asus covers their cost in these cases.
In any case, it is a bad problem. I wrote my newegg review to exactly highlight this problem.
Not having a replacement cable is not a very comfortable feeling.
Anyway, an iPad charger does work for the tablet. I don't have a dock so no way to test it.
However, I noticed that using an iPad charger, theTF does not chnage the battery icon to charging and it charges a bit slower.

It is charging at 5V. I assume using diodes to charge the cells in parallel instead of series without causing a short. Only other explanation is ASUS put DC-DC regulator in to ramp up the 5V. Only works while off or asleep and is sloooooowww...took me 8 hrs to get 22% charge on 5V USB.

I had been looking for good one, and started with the motorola charger that I've seen recommended a few times. It's cheap, nicely made, and does have the data pins shorted, but for me, it didn't meet my needs because when using GPS in the car. With the screen on, the phone actually discharged and did not charge. It discharged at about 6% per hour. This is not surprising because when measured, it does not put out the max current that the note can accept (it puts out about 850mA of charging current via my measurements).This charger, on the other hand, puts out the max charging current your note can take (1000mA). I have verified this. When using GPS with the screen on, on my note at least, it actually charges the phone at a rate of ~3%/hour instead of discharging. It will even charge the phone if you are using GPS + screen on + also streaming music (ie pandora). That 150mA difference may not seem like much, but for me, it's the difference between discharging or actually charging the phone while using GPS.
A couple of notes... this charger does not come with a cable, so you'll need a generic usb type a to mirco usb cable. Nothing special is needed in the cable... you can get a "charge only" or a data version, any cable will be fine. Amazon has some very inexpensive ones with low shipping costs if you search. There are two ports on the charger, clearly marked on the charger itself, a 1A port and a 2A port. The 2A port will NOT charge your note at the AC charge rate as the data pins are not shorted -- it will charge at 500mA, and your phone WILL discharge instead of charge if you are using this port with GPS, etc. So ignore the 2A port unless you have an iDevice you want to charge with it. The 1A port, however, WILL charge your note at the AC charge rate, and DOES put out the rated 1A. This is the port you want to be using for your Note.
So, if anyone is looking for a good charger for the car, that's it. The only negative thing I have to say about it (so far) is that it is a little bit wobbly once seated in the cigarette lighter. Not enough to come out or cause any problems or anything, but enough to be annoying (to me). Nothing a little electrical tape (or any tape) can't fix quickly and easily, though, if it bothers you enough.

i purchased the car dock made specifically for this phone from samsung and it is awesome. phone snaps right into place, dock has a connector built in and comes with a charger. Suction cup has never fell off the window and the whole thing is very sturdy. the note looks awesome mounted in the truck above the in dash navigation and works great with ford sync
Personally I like the Motorola Chargers as they have a nice wound cord, although they only charge one device.

That is the other charger I was talking about that is not nearly as good as the one I'm suggesting. With that charger, if you use GPS while the screen is on, your battery will discharge instead of charge. Even without GPS or the screen on, in the best case scenario, it will still charge slower than the one I've recommended. If you're OK with that, then yes I suppose it's an OK charger. It's cheap, looks pretty cool, and seems well built. But for my needs for a charger, I need a) the fastest charger available, and b) for a car charger, I need one that lets me use the GPS on my phone without losing battery life. That's why I searched and found the one I'm recommending.
I personally hate the wound cord because it puts tension on the phone if you try to use it beyond the wound range (which I almost always seem to do), but that's a totally personal preference. The cord is always fighting me when I'm typing on my phone while driving (Not that I do that )

WHAT? Nonsense. First off, the phone is not going to draw more than 1A, and that is a 1A charger. Second, with the big screen on this thing at high power with GPS it's not too surprising if it just maintains its current charge, but in my week of owning my Note I know it does charge while it's on it, and my Nexus One charged on it just fine.
And the cord is very long, not sure where you're plugging your phone in..
OP said he tested the Motorola charger and it only put out 850mA, not 1A. Another poster in a different thread mentioned that his phone still discharged while using that specific car charger as well. So with heavy use it looks like it is possible for the phone to still discharge with the Motorola charger.
Thanks for the info. Had a Verizon car charger for my defunct droid razr and wasn't giving out enough juice to keep the Note running. Heck, it wasn't even able to keep the droid running.
Will look into the ones mentioned here.

I'm not saying the the phone is drawing more than 1A. I'm saying that the motorola charger does not provide the full 950mA it claims (only provides 850mA), and this one I'm recommeding DOES put out the full 1A it claims. Either way, though, there's one thing I know for sure: the one I've recommended above charges faster than the motorola one, and allows your phone to charge in some scenarios where the motorola one does not. It is a better charger, from the aspect of actually charging the phone. The motorola charger might be fine for a lot of people. 850mA is still a good rate of charge, but unfortunately is just shy of being able to maintain or actually increase the state of charge of your note's battery under a common (for a lot of people) scenario in the car -- using the GPS with the screen on. If, however, the motorola charger is working perfectly for you, that's great. I don't care if you buy the other charger or not, I have no affiliation with the company or amazon or anything, I'm just providing the data so everyone can make an informed decision.
The wound cord thing is totally personal preference, I'm not gonna argue that one way or another.

Yes, I use this one...for making sure my Note is charged whilst using the Note's GPS on my motorcycle.
Works great!!
Since I already have a power inverter I'm going to get the Blackberry Premium 1.8A charger for my note. Even though I carry 2 extra OEM batteries I still need all the power I can get.

Just FYI I cannot confirm that this charger has the data lines shorted, so you may not charge at the full ac charge rate. Just because it says 1.8A doesn't mean anything. If it does not short the data lines, it will charge at 500mA (half the rate of the OEM AC charger), whether it's rated at 1A, 1.8A, or 1,000,000A.. Sorry if you already knew this, I just don't want any more people getting confused thinking that as long as the charger says it's rated at 1A+ that they will be charging at the full 1A. This is not the case with our Notes (or most/all? Samsung phones). No charger can or will charge faster than your OEM charger, unless your OEM charger is defective. The speed can only be matched, not exceeded.
Here's a scenario using the Motorola charger that is baffling me. I agree with the OP...using my Note with GPS and playing mp3 music at the same time does discharge the oem battery at a slow rate. But if I follow the same scenario, but use a cheap Hyperion 2600mah battery in place of the Samsung oem battery, it actually charges during use! Not fast, only about 3% an hour, but that beats a discharge situation! Why is this?

Great informative post OP! Thanks! I was actually looking into this yesterday and your post is exactly correct. I currently have two Motorola chargers and yup, the Note discharges when using the GPS. I was looking into a new charger and ordered the exact same one you mentioned (in white).
What is surprising to me though is how you mentioned the 2A plug will not output the proper amp, so I have to use the 1A port instead? Do you know why they made it this way? It is just weird how they designed it.

Yes I already know this. I can always return the charger if it does not work properly. Also last night, I tested an OEM HTC charger that came with my older HTC Desire Z and it outputs exactly as the OEM Samsung Note charger. I used your command line in Terminal Emulator.
Got it today. Wow it charges fast.

OK I was wrong it does not charge faster. It actually allowed my battery to drain at about 1% per 4 minutes, during driving. I DID NOT USE PORT 1A. Will try 1A tomorrow.

Thanks for this. Will be ordering the PowerGen. Just got back from a trip to Chicago from Ohio and left with 100% and arrived with 70%. Figured the charger just wasnt putting out enough power.

Now she can rapid charge her captivate with the high current car charger finally.

I have this http://www.siig.com/3-1a-dual-usb-car-charger.html and it doesnt charge my Note 3 at all. It just keeps it at the same charge, and shows up as USB under battery settings when plugged in
Then I bought this http://www.amazon.com/Kensington-Po...05&sr=8-4&keywords=kensington+4.2+car+charger and for some reason one port shows up as AC charging and the other as USB. Its supposed to be two identical 2.1 amp ports, so why that is happening is beyond me.
Can someone please recommend an app that works well withe the Note 3 to measure current?
Can someone please recommend something that will actually work? I basically want a charger (for car) that can charge my Note3 and my wife's, at the same time, at least at the same speed my OEM charger that came with the phone does.
Does what cable I use make a difference at all?

I don't have the GN3, but a GN2. I have and use Ventev 4.2A rapid car charger. You may want to try it. It works well with my GN2. What's nice about it, both ports are 2.1A 5V. I was hoping it would charge my GN2 and ASUS Infinity Pad tablet at the same time, but the tablet needed 15V. Thus, it's end up being trickle charger for the tablet, but does slow down the battery drain.
And it's pretty cheap. Seems solidly build. I also have the wall charger unit and works well too. It may just do the trick.

not much from what I can tell. Both have 2.1A ports, totaling 4.2A. What I was able to find (specs), the only difference is the case and price.
I didn't look at your second link. I thought you were looking for suggestions on a charger that could charge two GN3 quickly. I'm still a bit annoyed with many andriod 10" tablets needing 15V to charge. I have car cigarette power inverter with a AC plug outlet and two USB ports (2.1 and 1.0) that I can use that will charge my tablet quickly.

Well you are correct in that I am looking for suggestions, but since the charger you posted about is identical to what I bought, I'm wondering why the one I bought isn't working as intended. Hopefully somebody can chime in. Could it be that the Kensington isn't actually 5 volts ?

Galaxy Charging Current Lite
There's also a Pro version for $0.99 as well. I use the free version and it works just fine, but there are ads, but that's expected from a "Lite" version of an app.
Thank you for the app recommendation. It has been helping. So here are some results.:
Using Kensington adapter, I get 350mah on both USB ports using a regular micro USB 2.0 cheapo cable I picked up at Frys for 2 bucks. Using another cheapo cable but this time 3.0, I get 1200 mah in one port and 450 in another.
Any ideas?

Try using OEM cables or at least high quality 3rd party cables. I ran into an issue with note 2 where my third party cables only charged at 250mah. When I got a replacement it jumped up drastically. Also car will be different than house wall outlet. Compare both.

Well i did compare it and like I said above I got 1200mah on both OEM house charger and the Kensington adapter in the car with USB 3.0 cable. Is it really possible my OEM house charger is only drawing 1200 mah? It makes me feel like the app isnt really working

Then looking at others forums and checking out my own phone I realized that the phone only charges at 1200mah while the screen is on no matter what chargers or cables you use. When the screen is off then is charges at 1800mah like normal. Samsung built this into the phone and I have no idea why.. I have noticed that the Y-CHARGE 4.2 Dual USB Car Charger charges two devices at 2.1amps each. I've tested both ports and they are good. http://www.tylt.com/y-charge-4-2/ Thats the link. When I had my issues I ended up averaging 1800 mAH on an oem. I used the Galaxy Charging Lite app as well. (Edit: just realizedthat's what you used too)
Just in case, you may wanna try another app. Usually the apps just measure the input based on what software tells them so there is a bit of inaccuracy but not enough to be way wrong. Truest test is an amperage meter or something like that. But 1800 on Wall adapter sounds right bad on a micro usb (2.0), I haven't tested usb 3.0 but it should be higher I would think.

Just to be sure, you tested both ports using a note 3 and you actually got 2100mah readings in the app?

This is my limited understanding that comes from researching this myself....
USB has 4 pins that our phones care about. The 5v+, 5V-, Data + and Data -. The 5V pins charge the phone. The Data pins tell the phone what rate to charge at. I believe it is specifically the voltage the phone senses on the data pins. There are some DIY mods out there to use resisters to change this and force a higher or lower charge rate. Those mods were a bit out of my comfort zone so I just skimmed them.
Also, Apple and Android do this differently in some way and most high voltage chargers have iphone and android specific ports because of this (whether they are labeled or not). The Anker car charger I got does this. I don't know of a reliable high amp car charger that has two "android" specific ports. I have tested the Android specific port and it seems to charge at the same rate as the wall charger that came with the phone. I will try and make time to test the "iphone" specific port on my Anker charger to see what mah I get and if there really is an appreciable difference.

If it is not too much trouble, can you download the galaxy current lite app and tell me how many mah you are getting in your house charger and how many mah you are getting in your Anker Android port? Also, I'm assuming you got a Note 3?

The app will tell you 1200 if your screen is on - after is been plugged in, make sure your screen is turned off, then quickly pull up the app after you turn your screen on and it will show 1800

I bought a dual outlet 4.2amp charger at big lots (got 4 of them actually on sale $10 a pop) that is 2.1 amps per outlet. I use samsung cables with it and my note 3 charges are full speed no problem.
I would just bypass all this and get an inverter for the car and run the OEM charger... takes out all the guesswork and charges exactly the way you are expecting.
Example... turns your cars 12vDC into 120vAC
