[Q] Ratchet: confirm serial - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

I used ratchet to enter a serialnr, beacause im a guy withe the serial unknown issue.
I RMA my first TFP, a new DE mainboard was in, bevor it was a WW. Since my prime is back, i had the serial issue. I tried ratchet with a DE and a WW Firmware.
This step i cant find in my settings:
" After that, you should be able to head into Settings/About Tablet/ Status and vertify your serial. Once you confirm that the serial is in correct, update away!!"
the question is: How do i confirm the serial?
The serialnr is there but no option to confirm....
I tried the rooted and the non-Rooted way....nothing
sry, my english is not the best^^
thx in advanced
If there is no way to recive OTA, my baby is going back to Asus

Ratchet's method gives you a serial number you can see but it doesn't allow OTA updates.

I read a lot of threads in diffrent forums, there are a lot of peobles they can receive
ota after using ratchet.....

Got TP yesterday w/ HC 3.2.1, can't update to ICS

I got my TP yesterday... I charged it, played with it a bit, but want to update to ICS before spending a ton of time setting it up. When I check for an update under the system firmware update menu I get "There is no update available for your device currently" message. Does anyone know if ASUS has halted the OTA in order to get some of the ICS kinks worked out?
There is a known bug where the serial number for some of the units is listed as Unknown. If you have this problem then the automatic updates won't work. Check that your prime has its serial number in Settings > About Tablet,

Thank you, that is my problem. I had thought that the serial number issue was occurring after the update. Will do my research and try and fix problem. Again thank you.

How do I know if fixes worked?

I have performed Ratchet's Serial Number fix, and it appears to work in that I can see the serial number both via the Setting->Status screen and when I query ro.serialno via ADB, but I do not seem be getting OTA updates or notifications, nor does my tablet see them if I click the System Firmware Update option.
Is there a way for me to check if my serial number is "good," or if it is still missing from the ASUS database that allows me to get these updates. I did read through the thread on Device Tracker, but I couldn't really tell if that is actually working or not. I also have tried that too BTW.
Thanks!
Peter

[Q] What about my Serial number 'unknown'

Hi guys,
After flashing Resurrection Remix and back to stock ICS I noticed my serial number is saying 'unknown' Now I have read about some similar topics about this, but I have got something else.
I decided to flash the ICS bootloader. After that my serial was 0009ca6038****. After that I checked with 'abd devices' and it came back with: 304D9ca6038****.
Note: These two are almost the same except for the first 4 characters.
Then I looked at the sticker under the battery and I saw s/n: RF1C50*****. So that's completely different.
Now, which one should be correct? Does your sticker match your serial?
And last but not least: how to solve this?
I am running a CM9 nighlty build on my S2 and the serial number in Settings -> About -> Status is also "unknown"
The first time i realized this was as i read your post.
I have no problems with my phone, so I think the unknown serial number is not important.
I have a RN10pro. When I type *#06#. It says serial number is unknown. How to fix this?

Right Firmware for GT-I9300

How will I know if I installed the right stock firmware of my S3? is there anyway to check it? for when I had my update it does not work anymore.
Serial turns to 0000000000 but with same IMEI. Is there anyway to retrieved the serial number for it does not appear on the status. plus its Service State: out of service.
Thanks
I'd guess you've manually flashed a ROM as the firmware update Samsung provided is unlikely to corrupt the serial number.
It depends what you've flashed as to how to solve it, search and read for other similar situations here in XDA Q&A. You don't give any real details so no-one can help you.
If you made a full back up of all the partitions using the S3 toolkit then this might save you, if not then flashing the right stock ROM might put it right, or even just the right modem for your country.

Search for the exact same question serial number 0000 posted .

Do you not know what firmware you started with ???? or that your phone vendor supplied . No backup ??
Try Kies
Tools Firmware initialization
Or the HDSWVER code in your registry .

Can't update ICS to JB

Hi everyone, I just bought a used Asus Transformer Prime. I see that the bootloader is locked and when I check for the update it says there aren't any. Here is the data from my tablet :
Touch panel version: MXT-2.0 build-170
Kernel: 2.6.39.4-00003-g12de84f [email protected]#1
Build number: IMLK74.US_epad-9.4.2.21-20120323
Pad EC version
TF201-PAD-0215
I tried using the official Asus unlock tool but i get an error every time: "An unknown error occurs, which may be a network connection issue. Please wait and try again." Offcourse I am connected to the internet but this error occurs for some reason.
This tablet was bought from a guy that works in the ASUS service in Croatia and he assembled this tablet from several others. Could this be the problem?
Can you see the serial number in settings? Under about tablet -> status.
Plenty of people cannot unlock their prime because when they get RMA'd they replace the motherboard which stuffs up the MAC address and serial number combo.

It says "unknown" for the serial number :/
In that case you'll need to send it to ASUS to get it fixed.
Not the answer I was hoping for but thank you for your help
Does anyone know how can I unlock my bootloader based on the data I have provided?

Without a serial number you cannot unlock.. You need to contact Asus and tell them you have no serial number and they will open an RMA.
