I my girlfriend bought the 300 and I was wondering if any TF201 rooms might work for it? Any help would be greatly appreciated

Unlikely. Though similar, they do have slightly different hardware. Its close enough that developers might make them work with both the 201 and 301 but since we dont have NV Flash to fix bricks you would be taking a huge risk at a $500 paperweight.
My suggestion is just dont.

Are you serious that asus actually encrypted the bootloader on this? It doesn't even have 3G and isn't tied to a carrier. I can understand locking it but encrypting it is stupid. I always thought the carriers wanted these devices locked down. Every day I am seeing new reasons not to get this...
Yep 128 bitAES encryption! It's crazy
We have nvflash for Tegra 3 but the then found out the bootloader is encrypted

LOL! No ****. they encrypted the boot loader!?
Wow.. Asus seems to be hitting a high-note with their perpetual **** ups.
Asus moved oficial facebook fan page to http://www.facebook.com/asus.n.america?sk=wall
Lets spam this... I dont want my TF Prime if bootloader still be locked...

Curious,
Besides protecting ASUS from warrantying hacked devices, is there an end user benefit of an encrypted bootloader. Like more data security for the tablet user, say in a public WIFI... or is there no relation between the two.. and no end user benefit...?
Thanks
The easiest way to get them to unlock the bootloader is to get everyone on here to return their primes, if they get hundreds of returns just because of a locked boot loader I have a feeling they will unlock it pretty fast.
I have to say it would be pretty cool if we got a ton of people to return their primes on the same day and announce to Asus that we are returning them because of the locked boot loader.
Do they have a facebook, I don't do the whole twitter thing lol

If you want to get this going, you'll need to post in other transformer forums/websites to get some publicity. I hope it works!
Already on it!

I can see why we want to customize the kernel and flash a custom rom on some tablets/phones, but I don't see the need to do it on this device. It the most solid stock build of a rom that I have seen. It has power customization in the navbar (what we like from many custom roms) and it has great batterylife. It is stock Honeycomb (soon ICS) with ASUS customizations that don't slow it down. Also rooting has nothing to do with the kernel, because every locked/encrypted device has it (except for this), because we are waiting for ICS before going away from the OTA path. Anyways, I will still support the kernel unlock since it is kind of silly to be locked (since it isn't with a wireless carrier).
Yeeaaaaaahhhhhh! We gonna drop twitter bombs on asus till they cave in!!!

So I received my Transformer Prime today and am having wifi issues (very poor connection strength). Also, I have a group of very bright pixels on the screen.
I know there is a new Transformer tablet in the works that has significantly better specs...so I'd be best to wait. In the meantime, I found a mint TF101 with docking keyboard for $350. Everything checks out and it seems like a great package for the price. This coupled with ICS arriving in two weeks for the TF101 makes it a reasonable decision to return the defective Prime and get this original TF101 w/keyboard.
Is this a good move? I've never owned the original Transformer and hope that it is plenty fast to play flash content. Anyone care to offer a POV on this decision?
I plan on getting the newer Transformer in Q2 when it's rumored to release.

I have both and the OG TP is pretty damn laggy even with a 1.65 OC.
That + the random reboots and freezes makes in a no go for me.
I did it and am happy with my decision. Wifi is crazy strong and the device is plenty fast.
Wake me up when the new Transformer is released. The Prime isn't ready for prime time IMO.

Hi,
I would like to buy a tablet with dockable keyboard. But I can't decide whether to buy Asus Transformer, or Tranformer Prime.
Is Prime worth extra money that I would pay for it? Afterall Prime has USB only on dock and there is issue with GPS/Wifi.
Thanks
Hmmmm, apples or oranges to dessert?
You decide, good luck on your choice!
Cheers
Prime for sure. Most of the newer ones aren't as bad for wifi. I get 27 of 40 mbs throughput 2 stories up in my house which is simalar to my Droid raze. I'm happy. Otherwise wait for a new dockable tablet. Don't get the origanal!

Its a large upgrade for everything but GPS. The screen is an incredible improvement which is so important for a tablet. Not to mention the questionable Tegra 2 processor. Do yourself the favor or wait.

Starting to see a lot more sites giving the prime the recognition it deserves, seems to be holding up fairly well compared to the pad which shall not be named.
Personally i love my prime and its ease of customization.

Yeah for sure. Also once these new socs come out and fall short of their performance and or their power goals then prime or infinity will really take off.
The funny thing is it won't really matter who has higher performance as much as who has more optimized software. Nvidia should definitely be trying to gain as much ground as possible when it comes to getting optimized software.

True.
I would think Nvidia should know more about the need to optimize more than just about anyone considering their history/track record with video chipsets and drivers.

these two brands right now i think has some of the best android tablets out there right now, if i were to go with asus i would probably get the tf300 or the tf700 infinity, maybe the tf201 prime but the inifnity is the one i want most but is kind of pricey, and if i went with acer it would be the acer a510 or the a700 they both have very good battery life but get very heat, i read somewhere, so which tablet should i get? please dont have to much of a bias towards asus. i want it to be fair, im getting rid of my iconia a500 i want a tegra 3 tablet
Asus for me love it
Asus all the way.

Well for me it would come down to the Infinity or the A700. Prime would be out of the question because it is apparently gonna be the same price as the Infinity. But out of the A700 and the TF700t, the TF700T would have to win. Its much nicer looking in my opinion and I have heard the A700 can be a bit laggy running the 1080p screen.
Hope this helps.
Do the Acer tablets have the I/O problem? All the Asus tablets have terrible I/O performance because of software and slow internal memory. That causes lag everywhere when an application saves or reads data from internal flash memory.
samsung
The new Toshiba AT300 (in the U.S. Excite 10) also get good reviews.
I guess it's basically the question, do you want the keyboard dock or not...
If you do, asus is the only real option atm afaik... If not I'd seriously consider acer. (Owning a TF101 and TF201 myself btw).
