Hey, anyone how to change the default home screen in stock rom ICS without LancherPro (and others)?
The default home screen is always the 4th screen.. ALWAYS!
Anyone?
Add this to your build prop:
ro.csc.homescreen.defaultscreen=3
Change the '3' to whatever screen you want to be the default
(i think this still works for ICS)
btw, this was also the first result in a google search...
is this work for non-root? where can i change this?
You require root
Change your build prop in system as described to 0 .
Rules say post questions in Q&A
jje
Sorry.. anyone can change this for me? Tks
Is there any solution for non-root?
AS said no try joining XDA developers forum and root your phone . If not try a Samsung users forum .
jje
One question how the hell it was on 4th on the first place? If you are stock and not rooted.
Do you even have i9100.
Agree stock is 0 custom are usually 3 or 4 .
OP please check your firmware .
jje
Usually, the easiest way on ICS is editing build.prop/default.prop or using a launcher app.

I saw others posts saying that default.prop has this line (on /system), so you only have to change to the number you want; by default ICS is set to 2 (checked mine here). That means page 3.
I changed mine to = 0 and default home page is now 1. Just rerember to reboot after change it.
Tks for sharing
Sounds about right fella, glad you got it sorted

For some reason i think i included the parameter in wrong default.prop/build.prop and screw up my device, have boot loops but now i re-flashed and his back alive.
Be careful on changing *.prop files
And have fun

On the Samsung Galaxy S, Long Press the Screen until the Widgets Options appears, Clear that with the Return Button, and then there appears a Gear / Cog Icon on the Top Left of the Screen, (it's sort of Transparent, like a WaterMark).
http://www.iconfinder.com/icondetails/23740/128/cog_gear_options_preferences_settings_icon
If the S2 has this Option, then click on this Gear/Cog, and all Available Screens will be Displayed in a Thumb Nail, and click on the one that you want to be Set as your Home Page.
Also, you can Access this by the "Menu~Edit Page" Choices
Anybody know how to Change the Default Home Page on a Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX that hasICS?
Probably a dumb question but how do u modify the build prop?

Hello fellow Arc owners.
I have a quick question for you all.
What do you wish your handset could do that it can't?
Something you've always wanted to be able to do with your phone but has never happened, no-one's ever found a way.
Whatever this something is, it has to be possible to do by way of an app - so no super-high-res screens, batteries that last a year on a single charge or anything else hardware related, we're just talking software.
And I'm not talking an updated GingerBreak or something like that. I mean a proper, legit, above board idea.
I'd love to hear any/all sensible ideas, thanks.
NB: I'm not looking to steal anyone's ideas, if you've got a plan for the next killer app then go for it and I wish you all the best.
I'm just trying to find out if there's a niche out there that could be filled...
Im thinking......facial or thumb print unlock screens.....no idea why though.

Thumb print.. won't be feasible on current screens
And facial.. would take too long compared to swiping ?
A snap shot feature would be nice like a system restore. I know there are way to do it in Recovery but it would be nice to have a application within Stock ROM because Recovery is not available within Stock we need to Flash the custom ROM like CM for it.
A better (and free) lock screen could be good ! ..
I used to love how I could use the iPhone/iPod as a touchpad to control the mouse on the computer. Something similar for the arc would be a good idea. Should be graphically pleasing though.
I love to be able to use the camera button unlock the phone directly to the camera app, by long pressing it, so it doesn't happen by mistake. And when you turn off the screen or press the back button it would go back to being locked.

As mentioned, finger prints would require different hardware.
Facial recognition is simply fraught with too many problems to be practical.

Really !! You know how to create a snapshot? Or access it?
Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread Allows Screenshots Without Rooting
Don't know anything more about it though, sorry.
Sorry I think you got me wrong ...! Snapshot i meant a complete image of the system so we can restore it back to previous state. Let's say if something screws up we can restore the image
Right, ok.
I thought you had made two suggestions - screenshots being one and backups being the other.
I could be wrong but I'm not sure that's possible to do unless you're in recovery. I have a feeling that it's only possible to copy certain parts of the OS when it's not running.
As I say, I could be completely wrong but I can't help but feel that there's a reason why recovery is needed to made Nandroid backups.
May be I want to capture video of the activities I do on my device (just like capturing screenshot)...
Though m not sure if its achievable or not!!!
an app which can change anything in the system .. like the default wallpaper settings ..i dont mean the main wallpaper ... change the color .. change the notification bar ... but that easy change anything in the system ... where u can feel easy on making ur own system ... but the problem i dono how to make i hope somebody go on with my idea .... its free for u all ^_^ ... the first who will do this plz let me be the first one who tries it ^_^
thx
I am expecting an application that can show the time and other notification when screen is off. It means that the time can be checked without needing to wake up the screen. W 800 used this technology before. Very useful!

+1 , and the time/notifications have to move up over the screen after each minute (like a screensaver) (like Nokia/Symbian has)

Do you mean something like night clock or bed clock from the Market?
a widget to toggle between "WCDMA preferred" and "2G only".. and not one that's just a short cut to the network settings menu.

nope, I mean clock and notifications (sms, missed calls, ..) in grey like Nokia (symbian) has. And moving slightly over the screen as it was a screensaver

Exactly!
It doesnt matter if it is moving.
normal method doesn't work. tried quickpic too and no joy no optino to set as anything other than contact photo or wallpaper. no lockscreen option
An extra option appears right after you make a new thread on leaked ICS ROMs.
anyone that isn't a prick want to reply?
i changed mine using the stock gallery, once on the picture -> menu ->set as and voila!

Normal method of applying lockscreen wallpaper works for me .
jje
weird. flashed it twice and same. ah well.
hah! found it out. wont let me change it for some reason with gpu rendering on. turned it off, changed wallpaper, then turned it back on
I know how to change which apps are shown on the lock screen, but is there a way to change the icons for those apps?
I'm using Apex Launcher and I've changed some of the icons for apps on my home screens, but it still shows the original icons on the lock screen. It would be nice if I could change them so that they match.
Is there an app that I can use to do this?
Many thanks for any help you can give.

Thanks, but you didn't read my actual post. I know how to change the apps that are listed on the lock screen (which is done using the method you posted), but I want to change the actual icons for particular apps.
Anyone?

Actually, he did read your post.
If you follow the instructions given you would work that out.

Actually, I'm pretty sure it says that he knows how to change what programs go there, but he wants to change Icons for certain things. E.g. he wants a different icon for the Dialer instead of the stock one, he doesn't want to change it so Dialer isn't there.
You'll have to use themes to change icons though afaik, so you're probably better off looking for that OP.

Read the very first thing I said: -
"I know how to change which apps are shown on the lock screen, but is there a way to change the icons for those apps?"
It's not possible unless someone mods the touchscreen (probably quite difficult).
Your best solution would be to change the actual app icon - there should be a png in drawable-res/??? (??? = resolution of sgs3) that is the icon. you can overwrite it with winzip or whatever (make sure the size is the same though).
Axtually, just use a different lock screen app.

it is possible i think. Just use xposed framework and download icon themer module.

I have recently upgraded to 4.1.2 ELLA stock. I am using a rooted 9300 on stock kernel.
Is there a hack that will give me the ability to edit the apps that are available in the bottom shortcuts on the new screen that appears when headphones are inserted? I don't use any of the stock apps, but they are all that appear!
Yes there is.

LOL - clever clogs. But that doesn't work. That's designed for editing the shortcuts that appear on the notification drop down. I want to edit the ones that appear at the bottom of the main screen. Try to long press on those and you get a pop up saying they can't be edited. Is there a mod for that?
I don't use TW so I don't know what you're talking about.
Use a custom launcher like Nova
I have the same problem.
I don't know how to change them.
But if anyone finds the answer, I am interested too.
Thanks for reading this thread i have two very simple questions

I remember that you must have the pro holo launcher to be able to organize app drawer.
For the test message, i don't know if there's a patch or anything but maybe try to change the test message app...
