I'm trying to get the ICS ROM on my Amaze, from this topic.
However, I can't find a download for ENG HBOOT. The one on multiupload loads as a blank page in my browser. I can't find the download anywhere so I can't do step 2.
I tried to flash the fastamaze rom but after doing so read that one can't jump from gingerbread to fastamaze. So now my phone won't load up the regular way and I need to do something about this.
Basically, I can only use the bootloader and need to know how to put ICS ROM on my phone.
Also, how do I "boot to bootloader" (what do I press on the white screen) once I download and rename the ENG HBOOT?

Dude just flash the leaked ics ruu though hboot/ bootloader, here is my dropbox link if you need it http://db.tt/OsheUVph
Or you can go here and download it http://www.filefactory.com/file/5p9....17DC_30.78.550L.15_release_259626_signed.zip
Some people say your bootloader doesn't have to be locked to install ruu, but I had to. e locked for it to work. There is no harm in relocking your bootloader, rename the file to ph85img.zip put it on external SD card then flashing ruu then go to HTC and unlock again...

Alright, I flashed the stock ICS update you linked me to. Now I'm trying to flash fastamaze. But when I hit "recovery," it gives me a picture of an htc phone with a green arrow above it. Then that changes to a red triangle with an exclamation point in the center...
So how do I flash the ROM for fastamaze from here? It's on the SD card (external) in .zip form, but I can't even do a recovery mode because of the above screen coming up.
I deleted the ph85img.zip from the SD card, I'm hoping that wasn't a bad move. Just a general question here, what files are important to leave on the SD card? Do I need to leave the .zip file of the ROM I'm currently using?
P.S. , In using the stock ICS rom, I've discovered that I can't use my mobile network with it. Wi-fi, however, works. Why is this and how might I fix it ?
Might be due to a bad flash, or bad download. But in order to install custom rom you need a custom recovery. Download hasoons tool, and choose to install recovery. Don't forget to flash the kernel. I'm sure that you will ask more questions. I will attempt to help.
Over 10000!!! You bet I am.
I do that and it just says "waiting for device" indefinitely. I have USB debugging on and the phone is on. Should I be in disk drive mode, or what? How do I set this up?
I'd appreciate if someone could just give me a step-by-step guide on how to get from where I am (ICS ROM) to where I want to be (fastamaze ROM).
Going to bootloader and selecting "recovery" just puts me at the screen with the HTC phone and the green arrow that turns into a red exclamation point.

You need to unlock your bootloader first in order to get a custom recovery installed, there are a few guides that will help you on how to do this.

Yes you do, the bootliader and hboot gets updated when you flash the ics ruu.
Just redo the same steps on the HTC website and get the code.
Edit: your old code will not work for new ICS

The old code. From when I rooted this phone to get superuser (before I flashed the ICS rom). In order, I rooted the phone and got superuser, then I did Juopunutbear's S=off, and then I flashed the ICS ROM (which apparently locked my bootloader again). So will my code be different? I'm about to do the whole process just to be safe anyway.

Did you install 4ext recovery?
It seems that some of.these new roms don't like the old recovery.
If you did, then just wipe everything, and install the new rom.

Yeah, I got that. I chose "install from zip" or whatever and it did some things. Now it's stuck on the screen that says "htc quietly brilliant" ... going to wait and see what happens because it said it installed successfully.
... actually, as I was typing that, it started up. I'll let you know how it's running after I try it out for a while.
Just curious, what did you mean by "wipe everything"? I didn't do that part, should I? And if so, how?

There is a wipe feature somewhere in the list of things in recovery. But if the rom doesn't give you any issues then leave it alone.
Glad it worked for.you.

I don't want to lose the ability to write SuperCID so please help me get this right the first time. The cmd stuff looks simple but how do I change to SHP?
Also, once I SuperCID, do I have to re-flash the ROM I have now? Or will the network start behaving properly without having to re-flash ROM?

Whoops. I did the OTA without doing any research first and now I'm stuck.
I was running the stock GB ROM, rooted with HTCdev unlock, Amon Ra and S-on. I did the OTA that "Prepped" the phone for ICS today and it apparently unrooted the phone. I didn't really dig into it and just went ahead with the ICS OTA. It downloaded and I hit OK and it booted into recovery. Eventually the option to reboot presented and I chose it. Now I'm stuck at the white HTC screen.
I know I should have been paying a little more attention to what I was doing and should have done some more reading before I went ahead with the OTA.
I've done some research but haven't found any solutions that are specific to this OTA. What should I do now? Thanks in advance.

No worries. You do need to be careful but you can fix this.
First relock your bootloader in fastboot with the command: fastboot oem lock
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1810931
Download the RUU file from the android police website and rename it PH98IMG.zip and place it on the root of your external SD card (not in any folders). Reboot to bootloader and your phone will find it and apply the OTA update.
Make sure to remove it from the root directory on your SD after your phone reboots.
You'll be good to go running ICS 3.14.605.12!
EDIT: Just remembered you said you were stuck at splash screen. If you can't get past that you might need an SD card reader to do all this on a pc but its still totally doable.
Thanks, I'm downloading it now.

after DL'ing the RUU, how do you put the file on your phone? im stuck on that screen and dont know how to access the phones files to put that file on the root

edit: sd card reader
So there's no way of doing this without getting another SD card with the file or using SD card reader?

You would need to boot into fastboot, then type 'fastboot oem lock' I believe.
After that, download http://db.tt/M09JDsfq, rename it PH98IMG, place it on the root of your SD, reboot into hboot, and flash!

Fastboot is basically adb, but in bootloader.
Hopefully it flashes! If not, I really recommend S-Off over the re-lock business.

Thanks for this. I was able to get my wife's Rezound back up and working. It was previously unlocked.
Unfortunately, however, all of her apps & data were wiped. I'm not sure if this was supposed to happen with the OTA upgrade (and she says she's not really sure what it said before the upgrade), or with the method listed here, or if it was just more of whatever screwup made it freeze up at the white screen in the first place.
Whatever the cause was, I'd now like to root it so I can install Titanium Backup for her, but I can't get into the bootloader as I did before I got the ICS to load. Is there a different trick to loading it? (adb and fastboot aren't recognizing the device at this point, so that method isn't working either.

Hi,
I am new here and this is my first post so forgive me if starting a new thread for this topic was wrong but I found my own situation slightly different from the others here who had the same problem.
I have a gsm unlocked rezound and was trying to get rid of the unknown sim error message at lock screen. I followed the steps mentioned on this thread --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1882355. I rooted the phone, downloaded the apk. Deleted the .odex file and replaced the existing apk with the downloaded one and rebooted. Now, I am stuck at the lock screen with no icons. But for the other people who faced similiar issue, they were able to open the home screen. I can't. I can see pop ups for sms/mail. I get ring when a call comes in but I cant pick. I tried hard reset. Tried booting without sim/sd card. Still no luck. I tried connecting the phone to my pc but now my pc wont recognise the phone when its connected. I can see icon on top of the phone which says USB connected and I also see sync icon, but it will not go any further. I dont know how to get into the phone's menu now.
I may have bitten more than I can chew, silly me :crying:
If you guys can help me in any way, I would appreciate that a lot.
OS : 4.0.3 ICS Running HTC Sense 3.6.
A quick fix:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2017932
Flash my debloater, choosing the Sense option(will be brought to a widget removal screen if you don' use them all) & AOSP lockscreen. Disadvantage to that though, you will have to unlock to see the caller id when it rings.

Thank you for the quick response. I have downloaded the file. I know this sounds stupid but I am a real rookie. I don't know how to do the flashing or how to get to the AOSP lock screen. If you could guide me through the process or maybe give me a link where I can learn it myself, it would be great.
Essentially since you already have rooted, you will(should) also have a custom recovery (TWRP, AmonRa, CWM). Install it as you would a regular rom but without any wipes until after flash of the zip. Dependent on which recovery you will want to look up their FAQ/QnA on how to wipe dalvik/cache.
Once you get inside the script, you will see what I meant by "Choose Sense & AOSP Lockscreen".

Yes the phone was rooted, but I used a rooting software from google apps from the phone. After I downloaded that app, it rooted the phone and brought in an extra icon. I remember it as SU root something, but I didnt do it from the pc. So I dont have any recovery on the pc. I used to sync the phone with htc sync. Unfortunately, right now, my pc wont recognise the phone. I tried root explorer for android from pc, it wont recognise the device. HTC sync too will not. But my phone seems to know when a USB is connected, it brings the usb icon on top but thats about it. ((
Ok, best suggestion at this point is to follow the instruction in the OP for installing TWRP in the Rezound development section.

From what they posted, somehow they don't have a custom recovery even though they are rooted?
Can you put a PH98IMG.zip file of a recovery (either Amon Ra or TWRP) on your SD card and flash it in hboot? Then flash a custom ROM the same way from recovery.
You can take the SD card out and mount it on your pc and use your pc to copy over the recovery PH98IMG.zip file.
And oh yeah, I see what Obaterista... was saying. You should be able to flash the latest RUU from hboot. Here's a link for it:

I am no expert to give u any suggestions but maybe if you could explain how it got bricked in the first place, someone might be able to give u a better solution mate.
So I tried overwriting cwm with twrp using a few methods i found online. The last one was this link here-
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1764398
I guess i didnt bother to see if it would work on our phone before screwing it up. Well anyway I ran that command and it basically wiped everything on my phone and Sense wont load up anymore.
I can boot into CWM still, and the phone boots up to the lock screen, but when i unlock it, it just goes to either a black screen or a white screen with green HTC written on it, then reboots.
What can i do to fix this? I have a backup saved on an external hard drive at home which i cant get to for another 10 hours -.-
But I tried running the "factory reset" option on CWM and it didnt help at all. Ideas?

U can only flash a Rom in custom recovery. And at this point u might not have the correct custom recovery on the device. Another thing is did u read the full instructions on how to run ruu? I wanna make sure that u don't run into any problems with this process

Is this an appropriate link for information on using the RUU?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=841890
Or do i simply connect via fastboot, and then run the exe for our phone?
Also, is this the correct RUU?
http://www.androidfiles.org/ruu/sec....55.17_18.20.95.55L_release_290329_signed.exe
Edit: Also, I have twrp 2.4.4.0 running on my phone now.
If you have TWRP working now on your phone, simply sideload an AT&T/TELUS rom of your chaoice and you should be good to go after that. Don't forget to flash the correspondent boot.img. Otherwise, yes this is the RUU you need for your phone. (CINGULAR)

Hmm, sideloading didnt seem to work. I have a file called "venom" on my phone now, but its still doing the same thing, and i cant get ADB to run again (adb devices returns nothing) to copy over boot.img either : /
im gonna try a few more times and then run RUU i guess...
edit: i ran RUU and it ran into an error, saying that the RUU isnt for my phone (even though it is?)
Attempting to run again. Will update with what happens...
edit2: same thing happened. What should i do at this point?
Exact error is:
Error [155] unknown error
rom update utility cannot update your android phone
please get the correct rom update utility and try again
Edit3: ok, this thing is really ****in with me. I was able to get sideload to actually work this time, venom installed and is booting up. Hopefully it makes it to the home screen this time >.<
You have to relock the bootloader and then run the ruu. http://www.androidfiles.org/ruu/sec....55.17_18.20.95.55L_release_290329_signed.exe is the correct ruu for the at&t version. After the ruu is finished then you unlock the bootloader and flash a custom recovery. Then flash away If you don't relock the bootloader the ruu will fail and not install.

Sooo, playing with rooting, been rooted for a couple days, flashed viperlte rom and had problems and decided to take it back to stock for now. Gonna be on the road and can't be 'experimenting'...attempted to go back to stock, by using the original RUU, and as I understood it, I needed to lock the phone back first. Didn't make sense as I was wondering how I could flash a Rom if it was locked back. After locking, when trying to go to recovery, it just comes back to fastboot. I can't get into the main phone--it boots to a screen, but no buttons work, although if i press volume up/down it shows it on the screen. What have I done?! I'll admit being a newb to phones, so please, some guru help me get back to something
Here's what fastboot shows:
TAMPERED
RELOCKED
SECURITY WARNING
Fireball pvt ship s-on rl
Hboot 1.15
Radio 1.53
opendsp v29.1.0.45
emmc-boot
It wouldn't read either of the mini sd-cards I used after rooting, so I can't just get use my sdcard with a new or original rom. I can't get to a main phone screen to turn on usb debugging, so no adp? Any ideas?

Thank you for the response. Tried this, it loaded the zip, then went to 'checking' and after that, back to the bootloader. Never asked me if I wanted to proceed. When rebooted it brought me back to where I was, a phone which appears to be up--clock works, wifi is on, but I can't do anything. I feel pretty confident the img is good. Thoughts?

XP PC, formatted fat32, put it on root...just tried a different ruu, searched the exact string, the 2.0... and got it from a xda forum member, so I feel confident in the ruu. It did the same thing, loaded it, checked it for about 2 mins, then returned me to the loader. I noticed SECURITY WARNING is gone from bootloader now, FYI. What else can we try?

I can't get into recovery or use adp commands from windows, is there another way I can wipe and flash?
I know this has been posted before, but my particular circumstance after reading through many threads has not been covered (as far as i know). I normally flash A LOT of new roms because i'm a bit of a ROM junkie and am always interested in all of you wonderful developers creations. So after flashing may 1000th rom, CM10.1, many times and getting bootloops, i decided to give up and restore the fully functional CM10 I was using prior. Well, after MANY numerous ways of restoring my back up, others roms, stock OEM RUU's/Zips, and bootloader NOTHING will get my phone to get past the WHITE HTC LOGO SCREEN!!!
I at one point couldn't access or mount my internal SD, o kept getting an error message so I connected it to windows and it was recognized and windows prompted me to format the internal SD card because it was "corrupted", so I did and tried flashing again through all the above methods and STILL NOTHING. Now every time i boot into recovery, it sometimes takes 50+ seconds to load or if it does load quicker it says i'm in "safe mode" or "enable 4EXT'S ADVANCED SETTINGS". I'm sorry that this si lengthy, but i'm stumped. Can anyone help me????
When I was on evervolv all my partitions were corrupted according to 4ext. No rom would flash. The only way I was able to recover was to downgrade to an official T-Mobile GB RUU. Once I did that everything was fine and dandy again. Hopefully if you do the same it works for you.
Thank you, I am going to try this today and see if it helps. Did you just put the RUU on the root of the external SD or was it and exe file??
Thanks again for your help!!!

No the ruu should be a zip file not an exe. The ruu's I used are for T-Mobile.
Since your S-Off you should be able to do downgrade and upgrade at will. Sounds like your partitions are messed up. Also make sure your SuperCID as well.
Downgrade your amaze to a GB RUU 1.43.531.3
Check MD5 SUMS
Rename it to PH85IMG.zip
Place on your External SD CARD
Reboot phone into bootloader
Let Phone find update and apply update
Let Phone reboot
If that worked and your able to use your phone
Repeat Steps 1 - 8 and use ICS RUU 2.14.531.3 instead of the GB RUU.
You can't flash an ICS Rom if your firmware is still GB.
Also if you want to get the latest update from T-Mobile that address wifi calling and updates your Firmware and Radio for better battery life and reception follow my guide here

I am having the exact problem as OP but I am S-on, what extra steps do I need to take? Thanks for your help.
EDIT: Since I can't allegedly go backwards from JB/ICS to GB when S-on, the only solution I was able to arrive to on my own accord was to format the internal SD in 4ext. Once I did that 4ext was able to see both internal and ext sd and I was able to flash to my heart's content. I think it was a misaligned partition or something. Fortunately everything on the internal SD was backed up already but in the future is there an easier way to do this without formatting sdcard? I re-locked my phone and tried to flash the latest T-Mobile Stock ICS RUU by renaming it to PH85IMG.zip and letting the bootloader flash it but I still got stuck at the white HTC screen at boot.

ive got the same thing going on, mine is s-on boot loader unlocked. i dont have super cid. ive tried the stock ruu t-moblie gb. in boot loader it reads it but afterwards nothing. ive even tried relocking the bootloader and trying that way, that way is a little differnt. if you relock bootloader then it will force itself in fastboot every time you try to turn it on or plug usb in from your pc. but you cant get into 4ext recovery.fastboot will read that ph85img.zip. and will try to update, but it fail and say cid incorect. but if you unlock your bootloader agein then your can get back into 4ext, but then your just at square one agein. idk im sumped. if any one can help that would be a life saver.

You have 2 options here
1. check your cid version download the appropriate ruu for it I've posted a unbranded version ruu in krooks thread and run it while the bootloader is locked..
2. Go to 4ext download a FLASHABLE ROM a gb rom NOT a ruu and flash it from 4ext and turn on smart flash before doing it ...
Either way you get a working device

Still no luck in getting past the splash screen
Well it's been a while since I've posted back on this thread, but I have tried everything that was suggested and i STILL can't get the phone to boot past the HTC Splash screen. I tried flashing many different RUU zips (all renamed PH85IMG) as well as custom ROMS (gingerbread and ICS based) and nothing gets the phone to boot up! They install, but after the phone reboots it's still a no-go. I just don't know what to do anymore. The only thing i can think of is my bootloader is still unlocked, could that have anything to do with this? Like I said earlier my phone is S-ON which makes things more difficult. I'm really hopeless for a solution.
I even mounted the internal and external SD's to the computer and reformatted them. Still doesn't help. Also, my recovery, which is 4EXT, always says i'm in "safe mode" and i have to do something to put it in advanced mode? Please someone help!:crying:
