v1.6
Built from source - 10/7/2012 - 00:27:58
OTA app changed (This trashes OTA update, please download manually this version). More responsive methods
Merged latest CM changes, including a lot of fixes and improvements for device tree
Improvements on frameworks, fixed for once and finally all DPI related crashes
SystemUI mode can be configured now
Cleanup and speedup of hybrid code via native libs (I'd say 25%)
A lot more of changes, you can check them here: https://github.com/ParanoidAndroid
v1.5
Built from source - 25/6/2012 - 11:3:12
Removed AROMA installer, now using CM kernel, you can install any AOSP kernel
Improvements on OTA app, scheduled checkups
Improvements on Backup app, now it automatically launches on startup after you install a newer (or older) version
Hybrid speedup, less lag, considerably faster list scrolling when pad/pal is in action
Keyboard scaling, an androids first
PAD/PAL bugfixes for apps that still crop images in lower dpis
Settings revamp, speed preferences to switch between modes without having to set up anything, less clutter
Trebuchet extras: 3x4 widgets, speed dial menu button, ... and some weird rocket button which im sure will be very useful to most of you
Pad.prop revamp, new preferences that should pretty much nail it. Im sorry but this trashes your old settings again, do not attempt to restore them unless you do it in a text editor
v1.4
Built from source, 3:03pm COT. Synced with latest Paranoid sources
Fixed most of the issues with pad & pal, now facebook, whatsapp, keyboards, etc will be shown just fine
PAD/PAL work in phonemode 100%, no weird toggles and stuff like that. you get full tablet apps without caveats
Settings cleanup, most of the garbage dpi options are gone, should be more intuitive - i ask you to not bring your old pad.props though some things changed. if you know what you do take a look and edit by hand
Trashed our LatinIME repo - not needed anymore
Fixed OTA 100%, now it should never hang on 99%
Navbar editor is now hidden on tablet mode ... ups missed that one.
v1.3
Built from source, 2:29pm COT. Synced with latest Paranoid sources
Back to siyahKernel, updated to latest version
Force widgets is back
Reorganized options. Now only options left in "Paranoid Settings" are related with hybrid mode, the other ones got moved to their right places

Fixed possible lags (Mostly XHDPI devices, not too much for us)
Reverted libcore fixes by CM team that caused some bugs on network apps
Fixed a bug on hybrid panel that caused missbehaving
General bugfixes

Been running this since the last couple versions. Very nicely done and gets better and better. Forgot to mentions moles who is a huge contributor of this rom too. Quick question. The link to download the rom. Is it ready out of the box? As in modem, correct kernel, and button layout already installed so that there is no additional setup after flash?

Yes yes And Ah, I shall include him in the credits above! Thanks for letting me know
Can I change the modem? Also could I change the kernel to the CM9-AOKP kernel? Siyah and Neak both hate my phone. Dont know why but I do better with what usually comes with the rom. Is this updated with the nightlys? Im on 5/17 now. Just checking. I may try this out later tonight. I was going thru that thread last night and saw this. Glad you brought it to us!! Thanks!!!!

Yes, be sure to use a CM9 modem though. Siyah and NEAK are compatible. This is based on CM9 so anything CM9 should work.

i wasn't able to get NEAK or CM9 kernel to work they both broke wifi for me.
Dude, you're wrong on credits, Im not the creator of this ROM, and moles just a contributor, we're a team, and we both have worked equal (perhaps he have worked even more). Please correct that, thanks!

Really? Hmm, I don't see why. Try checking the i9000 thread. I'll try replicating this as soon as I can.
I think it may be because the i9000 version of the rom uses Siyah.

That's what I thought too. I'm not not sweating tho, this thing flies with siyah kernel. I just thought it was a little weird. If it helps I used in flash tool latest versions of all kernels, ucld3 modem, hellraised to ics, stripped files, and changed device to i777. I did not use any tweaks. Both NEAK and CM9 would kill wifi as soon as you you ticked it to turn on

Ah okay. I kinda wish I knew why it would kill wifi though. I'll post in the OP to let people know.
Yeah I didn't do too much to trouble shoot other than setting apns and also tried to reflash modem but no go. Maybe someone else will have better luck than me

I've been meaning to switch my kernel from Siyah to NEAK to see if I could notice any differences, So when I can I'll check the Wifi.

Many thanks, and Regards.
tobias_r33per,
If you are using my SPARKZ_2 kernel as part of this ROM you should stop!
The version you have is outdated and no longer supported. Current CM7 source includes several updates subsequent to the kernel version you are using. If you are indeed building from source you should know this already.
Would also have been the decent thing to do to give credit to TeamHacksung for all the work they did in bringing CM7 to this device and myself for the kernel you are using. Especially since you are clearly not in a position to be providing the support for this ROM - I will have to deal with the SPARKZ related questions that will come up (and they will come up, there are bugs in it!).
I caution all who would install this rom - stick with the real CyanogenMod, at least then you get the latest and know what you get.

Thanks for your feedback, i realize that the kernel is outdated, this build was made sometime ago and i know the current build from git are using an updated kernel version for #106 and higher, it was merely included for testing and thus being an alpha build.
Especially since you are clearly not in a position to be providing the support for this ROM

This is rather a bold claim to make though, my bad if i dont live up to high standards
I do love your kernel and all the work TeamHacksung have done getting CM to run on this device, i am in full support and donate to the cause.
Builds after this will be based on higher nighties and NOT include the version of kernel in the alpha, i made this ROM NOT to take away from the work of the TeamHacksung team but rather add some more things that I used to make CM7 something for me, i decided to share this with others and will continue to to so as the greatest thing people can have is choice
I would no worry about the support factor mate as the kernel wont be in the next build.
Hi there.
Found a problem, Battery was not taking charge, but battery was Red Hot. A full wipe was made previous to flashing. Never had this problem before and may have been a "One off', but worth mentioning. I have reflashed Oxygen, and charging is fine.

Let me give an example or two:
In your first post you state you did the following:
- CM7 Nightly Based Rom - To quote you: in the beginning you say: "Built straight from the GIT CM7 sources and compiled from scratch" then, when I point out you are using an outdated kernel, you respond by saying "this build was made sometime ago..." - which is it? Which Nightly is it based on? If properly configured, one can build a completely themed and customized KANG in as little as 7 minutes, why would yours be so outdated?
- Rooted with latest SU and busybox - Why? CM7 is already rooted and both apps are included as part of CM7 already, built from source.
- De-Oxed for Themes - Why? CM7 comes with TMobile Theme Chooser and lots of theses are freely available in the market and on XDA.
- Zip-aligned - Why? This is done automatically by the CM7 Build script already
- Debugging on by default. - why would you do this? From what I can see, none of what you have done changed code.
If you are changing the code, where is your source? CM7 is GPL, and the source must be made available?
From your lists, all of what you did or want to do is either not needed, or can be done as an CWM flashable .zip "add-on" for a real CM7 nightly or a Theme Chooser Theme.

To sum all this up:
1) It is nightly based but on #101 from what i remember
2) NO SOURCE CODE HAS BEEN CHANGED IN THIS VERSION! configs files yes and apks yes and kernel yes
3) I listed those things to help those who read and may not have seen or read or even used CM7, that way they know, people need info
4) It isnt finished i said there is a lot to do in this one, and i dont even know what the state of this rom build may end up being, it was built a while ago but i thought id share what i have done all ready
5) IM LEARNING its taking me a while to get used to this sorta thing, im sorry that im a not "seasoned" or "expert" at this yet and may never be, its a hobby.
6) Do you flame all new devs this way or am i a special case , im not made of time and i do this for a experience and if i could do this on a daily basis or so it would be more up to date
If this sorta thing continues, i will just stop touching the CM7 and stay with my first ROM built from stock modifiction, i must say your not making me feel like i should be doing this. I respect the team and the work but your making out like i am violating your space and NO ONE should touch the stuff.

It is/was not my intention to flame you nor have I done so.
All I have done was point out originally that you should not be using my kernel with the new nightlies as it is outdated and has known bugs. Your description did not include the version of the CM7 base you are using and still doesn't. I was trying to avoid users with an unknown base of CM7 coming over to start asking questions in either the CM7 Q&A thread or my SPARKZ_2 kernel thread.
I am still a 'new' developer myself, this is certainly not my 'space' and I encourage anyone to take it on as well. It is a fun and rewarding hobby. We all had to start learning somewhere and are still learning every day. The XDA community is there to support and guide you.
I personally would not have started with publishing a full CM7 derivative ROM. There are known issues with both installing and running CM7, including buzzboy's phone heating/battery issue above, that you will now have to provide support for in this thread.
I've been using this rom since last Friday and it working great so far, haven't got problems with charging seem to be working fine.
tobias_r33per I do think you have to continue working on this rom its working great.
people need to start somewhere and I don't agree with DvTonder It can't be perfect the first time, although I do agree that you have report some credits to the
CM7 team and kernel creator.
keep on the good work.
- can you add the theme selector to the next version.
and maybe It would be nice to change the directory name of the external Sd card, I had SuperOSR rom installed and they changed the /mnt/emmc (external SD) location to the one used in the samsung stock /external_sd
it not a big problem but I think /external_sd is easier to locate
gr.
Sigma
Its a cool attempt to modify the CM 7. I like it.
Its quite stable and so far going on well. I know its not much different from CM 7 but still its cool with Siyah kernel.

I do see what you are saying, i have added all this now to the OP, CM7 Nightly version and more, and i do thank you for pointing these things out, it has made me think about what i need to do in future, cant imagine what would have happened if i hadnt changed all these things. From now on i will reference everthing and make sure others understand what i am exactly giving them

tobias_r33per I do think you have to continue working on this rom its working great.
people need to start somewhere and I don't agree with DvTonder It can't be perfect the first time, although I do agree that you have report some credits to the
CM7 team and kernel creator.
keep on the good work.

As for your externalsd card location, i can look into this as it is something i was interested in myself. time for some hunting.

Siyah 2.1.1
Hello everyone.
This is my first ROM here, I'm not a fan of "big customized ROMs", so I'm posting my own CM9 build here.
As the title name suggests, it's a lite version of the CM9. The full CM9 has ~130MB [without Google Apps], and my lite version has only ~100MB [with Google Apps].
Now, I'm posting my own CM10 build here too. It isn't too lite as CM9, but full CM10 [144MB] + Google Apps [85MB] is bigger then CM9, so the minimum I got was 118MB, making it similar with my CM9 lite.
My main goal here is to provide something simple and clean. Hope you like...
Some of the features [CM10 and CM9]
Click to collapse
Not even a little bloated [even update-script was cleanned]
Siyah kernel [gokhanmoral]
ThunderBolt! scripts deactivated + screenstate scaling modified activated [pikachu01]
Trebuchet launcher
Gallery app from CM9 zip [not the one from Google Apps][only CM9]
New boot animation [thanks to someone I don't remember who is]
Stock appearence [nothing visual changed]
No CWM manager. Siyah installs it automatically, so I disabled it
Some small build.prop tweaks
Lots of apks removed. Email, Voice Dialer, Google Search, Browser, and more
Google Apps also cleaned. Removed some stuff like some libs, Talk, Search, Voice Search, and more
Seems fast and economic enough to me. If you do not like Siyah, I provided a zip to restore to "stock kernel-defaults"
Undervolt init.d script inside, if you want to undervolt by script and not by apps
Separated zip with Google Search + Voice Search included [only CM10]
Multi-DPI support [only CM10, for now]
218dpi [only CM10, for now]
LQB RIL, which suck less. Better compatibility using LQ6 modem [only CM10, for now]
*Maybe other stuff you may only find out after installing [in other words, I may not remember]
Some tips for you
Click to collapse
ThunderBolt! scripts are disabled by default. Please, read it's original thread, and then copy the scripts you want from /system/etc/scripts to /system/etc/init.d. [you may want to use main script {S97system_tweak}, it's awesome. Please note it sets i/o scheduler to sio automatically.
Gallery from Google Apps isn't good. I'm using the one from the CM9 zip {Gallery2.apk}. It's pretty good, runs faster, it's cleaner, made my Media server battery % go down a little bit... [only CM9]
You may want to use AdAway to block ads. I didn't put that because it gets updated very easy. But it's usually the first app I install after I install the ROM.
If you don't like Siyah and want to go to another kernel, please flash the "default kernel zip". I optimized the ROM to don't install busybox, as Siyah already installs, and also, blocked CWM manager install. "default kernel zip" will delete my Siyah optimizations by cleaning old files, installing busybox and flashing stock CM9/CM10 kernel.
If you want CWM manager, delete /system/.siyah n' reboot.
You won't find any browser after installing. It's because I'm using Chrome, so I don't need stock browser. I recommend Chrome very much, but just make sure you disable Tilt Scrolling, to don't get the damn wakelock which will absolutely drain all your battery.
I included a undervolt script {/system/etc/scripts/S92CPU_Voltages}. PLEASE, before copying to init.d, edit with YOUR undervolt set. Those are mine, and I'm using only 5 steps on Siyah. Make sure you adapt it to you.
Don't flash Google Apps. Everything you need at one zip.
Some good Siyah settings for ExTweaks: ondemand, sio, 5 cpu steps, logger disabled, choose any vibration level [i use 3]. Please, don't limit the performance a lot, leave everything else stock except undervoltage [if you know what you are doing]. Don't care a lot about battery, always prefer performance [smooth performance at some point, where you get no lags]
Don't care about battery. Use and abuse your phone. If your battery isn't going further than 2 days, just plug your charger at day one. This ROM may be economic for you. What I do: if the battery can last at least from morning to evening, it's good enough to me. Then, I plug to the charger and sleep. Much better than looking at battery % all the time.
Screenstate scaling scales your CPU depending on your screen state. Screen-on: ondemand/1,2GHz max-200MHz min. Screen-off: ondemand/500MHz max-200MHz min. This may save a lot/some juice.

Since you speak portuguese too, it's "Rolar ao inclinar" in the "Ferram. para desenvolvedores". Just disable it and done. If you don't, you will get the suspend_backoff wakelock, which can drain from 100% to 0% in some hours, even with screen off.

No, just need to copy. But the remounti9100 needs to be activated on Script Manager(as root and boot). I think Siyah already include many parts of ThunderBolt, but I'll take a look.

You can't. Those are apks from a Samsung ROM, so CM9 is incompatible. If you want another dialer, you may try exDialer. I tested it sometime ago and it doesn't seems bad.
Downloading... gonna try it in a bit
I have one "tips" tho: IMHO one of the best way to make a LITE rom is to include everything (for everything I mean CM9 + gapps things ) and let the user decide on what he/she want's with the aroma installer!
Well, download almost finished gonna try it as a second ROM on siyah kernel, or i will get problem if i install this as second ROM?
Thanks and keep up the good work

the problem with aroma is that u will have to provide everything in one package. the goal here is i think to keep filesize as small as possible. i like the idea about a lite stable cm9 version. every addon can be found here on the forum or in the play store so no need to include them. its a good base to build on. thx marcello!

Yeah, i know that! I think the goals are 2:
1) Provide a lite stable rom
2) Reduce the package file
Maybe he can create 2 separate files: with and without aroma, this way he can bring the user experience even further obviously this is my "idea" and only giving a different point of view
Actually I'm on test, no problem atm
How about a Lite CM10?

I did this to myself (the one I'm using is adapted a little for me, a bit optimized for Brazil and some other system apks), something small, that I can leave on my phone without killing too much space. And include everything with aroma I would have to change the name from Lite to Full But anyway, if I have time, I could make it with aroma, but not with everything, just with the stuff people usually uses.
But mainly, I want to provide small file sizes and fast downloads. [100MB and download at mediafire {the best, full speed, no ridiculous waitings}]
Thanks, btw

Question: if I update syiah kernel in the future, the optmizing for cm9 lite + syiah 4.1 beta 6, will be lost?

No. Explaining better those optimizations:
1. removed busybox. Siyah already have busybox.
2. Blocked CWM manager install. I don't like it, and is much easy to go recovery from power dialog
pretty much that. So I don't see any problem in upgrading Siyah, or even changing to another kernel. The default kernel zip is only to users who likes the stock cm kernel / the kernel they are installing doesn't have busybox / clean up old siyah files. Oh, i'm going to make it also hide siyah's boot logo. Next version, maybe.
Working on CM10. In a few hours (maybe 1h, depending on my upload rate ["1mpbs on paper", but not very true]) I'll put it here. Is someone interested on the Google Voice Search? Just in case I'll put in a separatly zip later (first, CM10), because it costs like 30MB, and I want to get in the double digits (<100MB). If anyone knows some tweaks on 7z rather then "ultra" it would be very useful.
edit: no more double digits... full CM10 is 144MB and Google Apps is 85MB. The minimum size I got was 118MB.
updated thread with CM10... hope you guys like it. Please, some feedbacks, if anyone installs it

Nice! This is definitely different (ICS with Google Now). Just curious, how essential is Launcher 7? I'm guessing not at all, but I'm curious. I'm enjoying CM7 currently, but this is highly tempting.

Noo it's not required at all. But consider trying it out you might like it! :good:
Also, in case any of you are wondering why the base isn't JellyBean... I had been using JB ever since release and went back to ICS one day and had completely forgotten how smooth and easy on the battery it is. I figured as long as i could get some of the main features of JB (Google Now) working it might be worth it to revert back to ICS until our JB matures a bit more and/or we get those missing components from Moto.

As of right now the only thing modded are the default 1x1 and 1x2 icons used for tiles, but this will change shortly. You can achieve the same result with the paid version of launcher7 by downloading the icon pack i linked to in the Addons section of the op. The only irritating part about this is you will need to use a program like Quickpic and set its background color to white to actually 'see' what you are selecting when changing a tiles icon due to them being black.
I have to host the rom elsewhere, my links went down. Hmm not sure where would be good though.. Sorry for the inconvenience to those wanting to try the ROM. I'll be reuploading later today and may have a ROM update too if all goes well.
Double post woops.

Nope, not wondering at all! Your reasoning makes a lot of sense.
And I don't need to consider trying Launcher 7; I have in the past. I do like it, but it's not for me. Launcher 7, and WP7 in general, I feel, is not very app-centric at all. It's for people who use their phone for phone stuff and have maybe a couple apps. I have 51 apps installed (in Google Play) and I use probably a dozen at least weekly (if not more). I feel like L7/WP7 are more minimalist than I need. But I do like the idea. I actually like a semi-minimalist appearance on my phone; apps are grouped in folders, and aligned to the bottom of the screen, with widgets at the top. But I have access to a lot of apps in a short distance from any given point. That said, I do like seeing you base the presentation of your ROM around a launcher that doesn't resemble AOSP. It's a fairly unique approach. And that's the mentality I like to see in devs. It's thinking outside the box, as it were.
Links are back up. Will be updating the ROM soon.
::UPDATE::
Version 1.1 is released.

You flashed version 1.1? Within the aroma installer did you choose to do a full wipe? Did you choose gsm or cdma? Did it appear to install correctly or hang at a specific part? What recovery version are you running? I use joker v3, haven't tested it with anything else. Did the dual core screen begin to make little waves as if trying to boot? I'll see if I can get you sorted out.
:EDIT:
Thinking it was a bad upload I downloaded the rom and flashed. Within aroma I selected full wipe, cdma, and installed it. Booted up just fine for me.

I've been thinking of ditching the aroma installer too actually. I will make the next version without aroma. Again though, can you give me any more details? Does the aroma installer actually go all the way through and seem to install fine? What options did you pick? What recovery youre using?

Good job man, are you now including a theme? Or does that come with one of the Options packages?
Can this be dirty-flashed over 10/10, or just cache/dalvik?
I see you've got your own recovery now. Is that the same as the "joker's v3 CWM" that everyone recommends, or something else?

Something else. Newer. Vers 6.0.1.5. I have flashed MIUI, CM10, and AOKP with it now....worked perfectly for it
Theme is just an example of one that is in the market (Cobalt)
If 10.10 is 4.1.2, then I would say yes. If it's still 4.1.1,then no, you would need to wipe all....just to be safe. I forgot which version of android 10.10 is...LOL

ROMOptions is just for CDMA/GSM or storage setting. Options chooser is for other options including apps...

Okay, definitely checking out your recovery then. I really prefer TWRP (bunch of reasons, not just the touch) but if one works better than the other for some ROMs, no reason I can't go back and forth.
Kind of waiting for CNA (I know you're waiting on the dev) but CM10 10/10 is rock solid. And it's 4.1.2, I believe it was your first 4.1.2.
I knew you had a thing for Cobalt, but I'd only seen the red one. I just got one called "Elegant Green", it's okay but wasn't really what I was after. I might have to learn to theme and make my own, or just get ROM Toolbox. The default CM theme is fine, I'd just change all the cyan to a shade of green (I'm kinda bad with hex, but around #00DD30 is what I like).
Anyway, thanks again for your work on this. I can hit the Thanks buttons, but it needs to be said more. So, thanks. :good:
Thanks Bill for everything! Can you possibly include a changelog for the builds either on here or in goomanager? Thanks again!
Bill. What is the difference between your CWM vs. Joker's CWM v3? Just curious if its better to be flashing your CWM vs. Jokers for your CM10 ROMs. Thanks.

Not able to flash any rom
When I'm flashing any rom in the recovery an error comes "Can't open /emmc/name of the rom.zip(bad)"
Help please
Dirty flashed 10/28 over 10/10 (both JB 4.1.2 ROMs), everything seems to be in order. Data works, su works. (10/10 had been flashed clean after a "wipe all".)
Finally took your theme advice and installed Cobalt... Kiwi Cobalt. It's his green one. It's the best green theme I've used. I'm seeing a lot of elements from Mixer (or maybe Mixer borrowed from Cobalt) so it's not at all unfamiliar. Now I just need a nice dark brushed-metal wallpaper (currently on the one in the first screenshot) to complete my black-on-green look. Might also alter the wallpaper to have a green Cid instead of cyan (can one simply extract a wallpaper out of a wallpapers chooser pack like that?).
How come no real progress is being done with battery life? I'm running Bills's and Jokers roms from the beginning, I'm using GSM and I barely have any apps, I have only one google account synced and I barely get 8 hours if I don't use the phone at all, I thought it was related to the KDDI modem so I flashed back to stock, I now have the n_01.28.05s.fk modem and still same battery life.
Will the new drivers/kernel improve battery life? is any of Bills other JB roms (aokp, CNA, Paranoid) better optimized for battery life?

Hey all, here's SlimRom built from source for our i605. Umm, it flies! Obviously in not responsible for anything that happens to you, your, device, or anything else that may go wrong in your life.
I am also not responsible for the work done on this ROM, and so I do not want to take credit. I'm not a part of Slim Team, and am providing this because all I had to do was build a slim device tree (and keep it up to date) for i605...and because I like the ROM!

Quick FAQ: (wip)
Q- This ROM won't give root access to my apps?
A- Yes it will, you need to enable it in developer settings for apps/adb.
Q- I click on the download link but there aren't any files for me to download?!
A- Turn off ad-blocker or try a different browser.
Q- Everything is smaller on this ROM than what I'm used to?
A- DPI is set at 245. You can change it in build.prop in your system folder. Make sure you set permissions back once you have messed with the file! 320 should get it back to how you see it on most ROMs with no tweaking. You can also use an app such as ROM toolbox to change it.
Q- What has changed since the last version?
A- Versions are clearly marked, please check slimroms.net for updated changelogs.
Q- GPS issues??
Here you go, GPS fixes that worked for me...<br />
<br />
GPS edits:<br />
Edit the file at /system/etc/gps.conf (I use root explorer). Uncomment these lines by removing the leading #:<br />
NTP_SERVER=north-america.pool.ntp.org<br />
SUPL_HOST=supl.host.com or IP<br />
SUPL_PORT=1234<br />
<br />
Save, and reboot. If you still don't have gps, download a Verizon based touchwiz Rom (I had alliance and used that), reboot into recovery and back up slim kat. Then, wipe and flash the touch wiz Rom. You should notice that your GPS is off even though it's a clean flash and it should be on. Turn on GPS, and get a lock - I used GPS status app so that I could verify the number of satellites that locked. Once you get a solid lock, reboot to recovery immediately while it's locked in. Now restore slim kat, then boot into it and now get a lock<br />
<br />

Awesome! You have your own thread for this now! I will flash and report back my results here in a little bit. Thank you for adopting this project by the way, one of the best ROMs out there, and I appreciate the fact that you're keeping my (almost) two year old device up to date!
Also, side note, update the link to the Slim GApps... It seems to be broken. (Just update it with this one here.)

Thanks again so much for keeping this project alive for us note2 users. This is by far my favorite ROM for this phone so it means a lot to me to be able to keep running it and getting updates.

One suggestion for the op: maybe include a link to the differences between gapps versions? Slims site does not do a good job at all listing the differences between the three gapps packages so this could help us here. I know that's not device specific, but more just general helpful info.

Straight from Slim so they should be keeping it updated with future releases.
I've been running the ROM for a couple of hours now and everything seems stable and fast (as we all have come to expect from this ROM). Thanks again for all the hard work!
Also, brilliant idea posting the explanation of the GApps... I know someone had previously asked what all three packages included.
It's very rarely I create a post unless it's justified or paying compliment, however: I was running the SkyNote Rom for a few months and when I wiped (several times) and installed your Rom and Gapps I could not access data or even phone service, even after re-installing several times.
I mean NO data or service at all.
I even restored Skynote and another ROM from a TWRP backup and still no service.
To be aware Skynote is a 4.3 ROM.
Could it possibly be the 4.4 Gapps I installed causing the issue?
I'm (for once) bewildered.
ANY help would be MASSIVELY appreciated.

This is really weird... I've had radio issues when I tried to install a KitKat ROM, but if i reverted back to a backup I made (4.3 JellyBean for book keeping), it always fixed the problem. My best guess, and I'm no expert, is that some important files got damaged during flashing - maybe files that pertain to the radio? If there are files floating around on here that have JUST the radio, I would try flashing one of those, preferably, the baseband version you had if you knew what it was. Though I have not seen any that have been readily available.
Fortunately/unfortunately, with that said, the only option that I know will fix the issue is doing a full restore to stock via ODIN. I reverted all the way back to the VRALJB stock ODIN image, rooted and ROMed and have had no issues since. This fixed the radio issues that I was having when installing an Android 4.4 ROM... So I'm confident that it will fix your issues. Of course, this is time consuming, and will take a couple of hours.
You can see how to revert back to stock using the files and instructions found in this thread. Someone else may have a [better] solution, but this is what worked for me when I had radio issues.
I will flash the new build tomorrow thanks for taking over this ROM is really great for the past week I been running it

Firstly, SonOfUncleSam, thank you for your speedy reply and assistance :good:.
I was really trying to avoid restoring to stock (which I had to do) as I REALLY liked the look and feel of the SlimKat.
I Googled SlimKat and I discovered that I'm not alone in regards to SOME people who installed the ROM also faced the problem of having no data or any form of network connection, even though APN's where installed and edited.
If this issue could be fixed I will most definitely be ready to install it again (Actually I'm waiting for you to resolve it :silly
Looking forward to seeing the couple of minor fixes,
Pikeypete.
Commenting on the radio issue: I had a similar thing happen to me on a different KitKat rom (PA), when I flashed it and my baseband said "unknown" and nothing I did could fix it. I tried via recovery flashing new base bands and nothing.
What I eventually wound up doing that did fix it was like sonofunclesam said, restoring to stock, reroot, flash alliance 4.3, Odin mj9 baseband, wipe, flash slimkat.... And then everything was fine. Took forever but it did work.
I don't think this issue has anything to do with slimkat itself, more like its a general note2/KitKat issue.
I resolved the issue, somewhat.
I had to change the preferred network type from LTE to 3G.
I'm on AT&T. 3G isn't anywhere near as fast, however at this point I have the network connected.
I'm sure a few tweaks will get me back up to the maximum speed bracket.
Thank you both for your input :good:
Pikeypete
I agree with Jarm3r... It seems like when everyone WAS making the transition to KK ROMs, it was hit or miss as to who had radio issues. My phone had issues with the radio when my father's phone didn't when I decided to test his. After that, the only logical action (in my mind) was to try and restore everything to stock, using the baseband version he had on his phone. After that, I've had no issues and its been a couple months since I've done that.
And like Jarm3r said, once everything is restored, re-rooted and re-ROMed, you should be good to go. Sometimes it seems like when you re-flash so many times, files can get messed up, and you'll eventually have to do this. (I even had to revert back to stock on my Note 10.1 because it was acting wonky too...)

I love this ROM. The camera works unlike cm11 and pac. And super smooth!
Is there a way to make the volume pop-up always expanded? I can't find a slim setting and the few xposed modules I tried didn't work.
I'd also love a way to have have something like CMs profile feature. Is there a zip or flash or module that would add that?

Is that like where you set it to "home" ... "Work" etc... And it changes a bunch of settings like volume and WiFi and stuff like the old blackberries used to do? I would love to have that as well if it is! I currently use tasker to kinda emulate that but its clunky.
