Dear Fellow XDA users
I am trying to go back to complete stock from an ICS Leak - here's what has been done.
1- Installed a Gingerbread ROM hoping will downgrade things back to where they were before the ICS excitement. Thanks Scott - the GB ROM flashes/ we install boot and off we go.
2- Soon after the thing boots fine - flashed "Downgrade main version zip" - which downgrades the Main Ver to take that error out.
3- Proceed to lock the boot - fastboot oem lock - via command line - the thing locked fine.
4- I get unknown error 155 Message - and go thru recover the restore process - does not matter. I arrive back to the same message.
Proceeded to run RUU ran into errors please see pics attached and advise is there a way around this or just wait for the official ICS RUU thanks for your time. I have also put up a photo of the hboot older message.
Thanks for your time.

You need to s-off your phone to downgrade firmware...

Ok so do the wire trick, s off, install what boot. Do I unlock before starting all this. Finally, if the RUU runs successfully will the device become s on automatically?
Thanks for your time.

Follow the directions in the s-off thread to a t. I'd use the ICS version of the download if you're currently on an ICS rom. Once done you can run the GB RUU.exe file and it will revert everything back to stock GB and you will keep s-off regardless of what you do.

Thankyou All - I guess I'm Stock now - A few more Questions
Thankyou all - I did look up the instructions did the S OFF installed the new hboot from JuopunutBear - went locked the device - (via command line) said It was already locked - went ran an RUU - and it has now run successfully so I must be stock now.
The new Questions I have
Will this configuration catch an OTA update? Given this is S. Off.
Is there any need to go back S On?
Also is there a list of stock firmwares I can compare to see where I am on this list. The device info off the device is noted as follows
Android 2.3.4
HTC Sense 3.5
Software 1.02.605.6
Kernel - 2.6.35.13
Baseband 0.95.00.107_2r, 0.95.00.1013r
Build number 1.02.605.6 CL183296 Release Keys.
The purpose of this whole exercise is to go back bone stock, and the RUU flashed was an older version to see if it'll catch an OTA.
Meanwhile all this fun and games is going on - I have not been using this device as a daily driver - but on a different phone (In case I bricked this).
Thanks for your time and reading this far.

now i just can boot to bootloader..
In order to release your phone from this state I recommend using adb and fastboot on your pc.
I too experienced this when I updated from 2.08.... to 2.17.... Following this I ran the Ruu from this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1239821
This was the original stock: I ran this from windows, rebooted, updated using OTA until I was fully stock 2.17
2.08.651.2 RUU http://www.multiupload.com/09NOXKCUN0 Thanks lchupacabras for mirroring!
And this site for current RUU
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/9282-sprint-htc-evo-3dshooter-shipped-roms/
These are .exe files that will reset your phone to stock state for OTA updates.
I'm on Hboot 1.50

any ideal???
Download
gsm ruu evo3d.
Search on google.it is a program.its pretty big. Install in your computer, then put your phone on bootloader and it should say USB
run RUU program.
You will lose root but it should go back to stock.

I would get an RUU file for your phones current stock version, extract all the img files and flash them individually one by one via Fastboot.
I think that it could work better.

I Replied to your PM, let me know if that works.
I didn't look at the picture well, but one thing I do suggest and that can be cause of some issues over the process is that you need to unlock the bootloader from your phone again.
Hi all,
I just purchased a HTC Rezound (used). Clean ESN, I have it activated and working fine. It is running the most recent official OTA build from Verizon (last January I believe).
Strangely, I am not able to perform a factory reset on the device to get it back to stock from the previous user. I have tried via the settings menu, and I have tried via the hard reset (power btn + Vol down), neither work. The device just reboots as usual.
I see at the top of the device (when rebooting using hard reset keys) it says it is unlocked, and S-ON. Go easy on me as I am still trying to learn what I will need to do to eventually put ROM's on this device - but anyone have any clues why I can't perform a simply hard reset and succeed? Thanks!
Dunno what the exact state of the kernel, ROM, etc. is since it is unlocked, perhaps something about that phone's configuration causes it to fail. Try running a RUU just to take all the guesswork out of what the previous owner did to that thing, here is the GB OTA thanks to con247: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=22045045
Thank you - does this information give any clues?

that doesnt really help but you should definitely run the RUU it will reset everything
next
Hi, You will want to read all the great info here on xda about HTC Lock and Unlock. Your goal is to use adb and flash to re-lock it. After it's relocked,
you can run an exe called RUU when it's connected to a computer. I'd recommend using the 2.01.605.11. It will fix all woes, including your ability to
do a reset on it. It's their best Gingerbread version, and compatible with your system.
After you do the RUU, you will be ready for the new ICS coming out SOOOON.
Yeah, that is on the same build as OTA, may be a custom ROM still, Factory Reset should wipe all RAM data if it is indeed on a stock ROM fine, hmm. Check Settings > Power and make sure Fast Boot is deselected, that may interfere with the reboot process while it resets. Other than checking the recovery in that boot menu you posted for a custom recovery with options there to wipe and reset, try a RUU still is all I got, haha.

that would be an option but it would be easier if he reset with an RUU and then learned everything else about modding and flashing himself rather than have it installed for him
Oh yeah, RUU is definitely easier and learning all the info here in XDA is recommended (should be mandatory for all modding and modded phone owners.) But checking those things are quick solutions to try while waiting for a quarter to a half a gig of RUU data to download lol. I have limited connection speeds and always think laterally while troubleshooting.

yep he needs to relock and run ruu since he is s-on

Hi Guys,
I just picked up a rezound, coming from a droid charge. Maybe I'm just missing it, but is there a thread that gives all the info on how to flash, root, etc? I'm wondering if any of the things im used to work with the rezound, ie odin and cwm?
If you could point me in the right direction id appreciate it. Also, if anyone has any special tips or favorite roms I'd love to hear some different opinions. From what I've read so far, venom rom is the best? Basically I just want some stable and fast with ICS and sense 4.0

I have a build that works quite well for me:
HBOOT 2.27 S-Off & Unlocked
New Radios
Amon Ra 3.15
CyanogenMod 9 UNOFFICIAL le n00b (pre-rooted)
Steps:
1.) First Unlock bootloader at HTCDev (link: HTCDev.com)
2.) Then S-Off via Juopunutbear (link: unlimited.io/juopunutbear.htm)
3.) Download RUU and rename to PH98IMG and place on root of external sd card, boot into bootloader and press volume up to update-*will not take off S-Off*-(link to RUU: androidrevolutions.com/neo/files/GlobalRuuPH98IMG.zip)
4.) Reunlock Bootloader (link: HTCDev.com)
5.) Flash Amon Ra 3.15 with Rezound_All-In-One_Kit_v2.1 from fastboot in bootloader (link to Rezound_All-In-One_Kit_v2.1: d-h.st/sMo)
6.) Download CyanogenMod 9 UNOFFICIAL le n00b and place on root of external sd card (link to CyanogenMod 9 UNOFFICIAL le n00b: goo.im/devs/antp121/cm-9-20120905-UNOFFICIAL-vigor.zip)
7.) Reboot to recovery and flash zip
8.) Download Google Apps-like Google Playstore-and place on root of external sd card and flash in recovery (link to Google Apps: goo.im/gapps/gapps-ics-20120429-signed.zip)
9.) PROFIT!
Hit thanks if I helped!

Hello all. I'm new here and definitely new to modifying my phone. A few months back I got impatient and installed a leaked version of ICS on my phone. Now I can't get the official release. When I check for an update, it says there isn't one available. All I want to do is get it to the official "stock" version. How do I do this? I've been reading about S-on and S-off and things like that and don't know what most of it means. When I installed the leak, I found a download link and instructions on a different website and was able to follow them. I would just like some guidance getting it to accept the official release or something that works well. It seems like the version I have has some bugs and doesn't work right all of the time. My current software version is 3.13.605.7 710RD. Thanks in advance.

Ur right. If you were on say 3.03 and flashed 3.14 while S-On, U can't flash a previous version or else U could brick ur device. However if U S-off , U could revert to any versions. But if ur still on stock, U can S-off and do the steps mentioned above, and the S-On again.

Hello,
First thing I did when I got my phone before even playing with it was unlock the bootloader in fear I would not be able to later on (was so tempting to have the file and not actually unlock it, so i did). Afterwards I realized i did not run the OTA first and i am on firmware 1.26. I am seeing some blurbs here and there with people stating that in order to update the firmware you need to relock your bootloader and than do the OTA, it is not something that would get done by installing a new rom. I am new to HTC, had the nexus before this and everything could not have been easier. Just want to see if I am understanding this correctly, and would it be wise of me to relock my bootloader and than do the ota and than re unlock.
thanks for your help!

I'm fairly certain that isn't true. You just need to wait for someone to post the stock update "rom".
What is the most current firmware?
I did a software update and found nothing earlier today. I'm on 1.26.502.10
I remember seeing in the at&t forums that people were getting an OTA right off the bat, and in the international they have 1.29.401.12.. but maybe I am just being paranoid? I am on same firmware as you.
I'm not worried about it too much. I'm sure to have a custom ROM on this thing sooner rather than later.

I stand corrected. But the way I see it - if you unlocked the BL, you can back it up, then relock it, flash it, and then restore everything.

Why not flash a custom rom now from the international forum? Or just flash stock international rom?
Something in android revolution thread stated that if u have a different firmware version than what they are using u need to wipe data through aroma.. which i understand.. just was curious about running the most up to date firmware and such.. but if that's just for international. Than no biggie. Plan on flashing this afternoon!
