Screen issues? - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Has anyone who tried out this phone tested it for the screen lines/blobs issue that the S2 had?

I would also like to know this too the yellow tint issue, and black blobs. I had the issue in both my SGS 2 black and White...though in galaxy nexus it was vey negligible but still there . I hope its not in SGS 3

There seems to be a pink tint rather than yellow tint.

Should probably wait a bit before buying this phone, who knows what the probability is.

Bump. People should know about this before buying the phone.

Most of the screen won't have tint problems . But still people can check the screen using lcd test code before taking it to home

What about black crush issues? Is it all pixellated when viewing dark videos or images?

I hate this on my S2. Hopefully in a few days when people start getting their phones we will have these questions answered.

LCD TEST CODE is *#0*#

Has any S3 owner checked the issue about the pixelization when viewing dark videos or images?

Yup! I received my SGS3 yesterday, and after seeing this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1658601 I checked the Iron man Pepper Kiss video on Youtube and I did not notice any problems!

The pixelization is sometimes caused by poor encoding.

I received the phone yesterday.
Did the LCD tests.
All tests are crystal clear. RGB backgrounds look like glass and the black videos are deep blacks without pixalation of any form.
I also checked another thread talking about some kind of pixels that were appearing as different colour and this didn't occur either.
The screen works perfectly and it does look gorgeous despite that pentile screen debate.
If a phone doesn't perform as described by me (and many many others) then the phone is simply defective and will be covered by DOA.

Bumb:cyclops: sorry

ive read somewhere that blue subpixel is degraded faster than other two thats why it becomes yellow
Yeah cud be . But i think that pixels stay all ways the same .

Amoled pixels slowly degrade, in a way that LCD screens don't.
Thats one of the trade offs we have to accept for the vivid colours and deep blacks.

had the same problem. downloaded screen adjuster and added more blue to the screen fixed.

Blsck spots

I have a black spots on the screen I only see on a dark Rom and full Black wallpaper it's normal amoled screens ???

I have them too.
Black spots that are visible on black backgrounds are called ink spots. They are very common in AMOLED screens, since almost every AMOLED screen have them.
I have them too. Now I can't stare at a pure black screen in a dark room. Very upset

I am so happy I don't have any black spots on my sgs3 yet galaxy nexus and sgs2 had them
Believe me, you haven't noticed them yet. But they are there =)
Yeah I have them too. They are normal.
how bad is it?
I am about to buy the s3 tomorrow. Every night i watch series in bed on my galaxy s. I cannot have a screen with weird black spots. Are they easy to notice (mostly i use screen filter to dim my screen an extra 75%). I'm really afraid these will be very very visible.
I didn't notice them until I dropped my phone on its face and got a couple of mini-scratches on the screen... now they're very visible, but they appear only where the scratches are.
Black spots
I use S3 for 8 months and black spots on the screen increases ....

Samsung Galaxy S3 Problems

Hi.
i have a few problems with my new SGS3. firstly, when i record a video or take a photo there's a lot of noise no matter how good lighting conditions are. i have tried different settings but nothing changes. also, i have updated the phone to the latest firmware, again, nothing has been fixed.
on to my second problem. the screen has black dots on a solid black background. i believe this is a common problem with the S3, but is it a software issue or a screen issue? my previous phone was a Google Nexus S and it never had black dots on it's super amoled screen.
can anyone please help.

1) Your camera might be stuffed - hardware issue. Especially if you can't get a decent pic outdoors. Have seen it on the S2. A mates phone was blurry no matter what.
2) As far as I know most if not all S3's have this issue, but unless you stare at a black screen in a dark room you'll never notice it.

i can see the black dots in a light room. also, the camera is fine outside it's just indoors that it has problems with.

Yep there is a topic on it in general section I think. "ink marks" or something. Personally I think it is not a major problem. I have 2 or 3 tiny spots but most of the time we don't use the phone in a pitch black environment, nor are we looking at a pure black screen (how often do you spend in the homescreen?). It would however be an issue if it was noticable during movies, games etc, where the viewing experience is paramount

Yes true, it would be an issue if it was visible while watching movies and such.. but question is how long should this ink spot last compare to the other parts of the screen?
What does this ink indicate?
Yes I have them and it annoys me. And I don't understand why people defend it and say it's okay, we've all paid a lot of money for these phones how is it okay or acceptable to have black dots all over the screen? Yes it's only under very specific conditions but that's not the point, it is extremely annoying watching movies when they fade to black, when in the app launcher under dark conditions. And it's not just 1 or 2 small dots it's like someone broke a black pen and flicked it all over the screen.
It's just the way how the amoled is made. Every amoled has it. Don't worry. U won't notice that after while

I've only had the phone a few days now so I'm giving it the benefit of the doubt since everything I've read is saying you get used to it but...... It's there..... There are dots on the screen every time there's black, how do you get used to that? I understand every AMOLED screen has it but don't you think that if it's that big a problem then the screens aren't ready for prime time and need to improved? I've found myself using white everywhere when black is what saves battery on an AMOLED screen and black looks good on an AMOLED screen but I can't stand the dots.

Screen quality - yellow tint?

I currently have an S4 and it's ok. However the screen has a real yellow tinge and appears very warm. It really bugs me as it makes movies look too warm and yellowy.
I've read this can be just an inherent characteristic of amoled so I'm looking for a new replacement for my s4. My main use for phones is web browsing and movies so the ZU is an attractive option and I've read reviews that say the screen is good.
However I've also read a few accounts from people saying their zu screen does have a yellow tinge.
Can people confirm if the zu's screen is too warm or has a yellow tint. If it does I'll leave it and probably just go for a note 3 when it comes out.
Thanks!
