Looking for cheap dual core phone like above and which can play 1080p videos .....
Sent from my GT-S5830 using Tapatalk
I think HTC Sensation would be the best choice.
I also wanted to.mention that which of them can best handle high definition mkv files ???
Sent from my GT-S5830 using Tapatalk
Considering none of those phones have an hd resolution let alone 1080, it would be a waste of battery power and storage space to play this type of file. If you can, rip the videos to the native resolution of the phone and you won't have any issues playing videos on any of those devices.

1. Optimus 2X- You should go for this since it is an excellent device. It's graphic benchmark scores are the one of the highest to this date. It has a fast tegra 2 dual core processor, fine resolution, a lot of customizations (via custom roms), and much more. The only cons for this device is it's appearance - I'm sure you can live with that.
2. HTC Sensation- The problem is with the firmware. Some of the most famous issue with the sensation is 1). Sense screen hangs on some incoming calls making you unable to receive call and 2). The sense restart. Root your phone and install a custom Rom else take it to the service centre to flash the firmware and everything will be fine.
Let's go on the other point of Sensation.
Now there are few food things to mention first about HTC sensation.:
Wonderful user interface.
Very smooth browsing.
Good virtual keyboard.
Very good WiFi speed, and 3g is also pretty fast.
Very easy to handle, perfect in shape... Not took big, but best in size.
Bright interface.
Now let's talk about the negative aspects:
RAM should have been 1gb, but is slightly lesser, but doesn't matter too much.
Very bad loud speaker quality.
Front camera is vga, should have been atleast 2mp.
No video calling facility. But video calling can be done using software like SkyPE.
Sometimes the HTC sense UI crashes when using some heavy applications.
3. Motorola Atrix 2
I dont have a Atrix 2 but people are facing little bit problems with this phone.
Over all you can pick up the phone as per your choice.

I agree I think that the LG is the best of these phones. Personally I don't like sense and htc overall because of their bootloaders and other stuff but LG is just fine. It's easy to root and load up custom roms. I also have an LG and those are the reasons I took it instead of htc wildfire. I also think its faster and the LG doesn't have the infamous sense fc.

Must it be out of these three?
1. Optimus 2X will only be getting ICS in Q3 after just getting Gingerbread 2.3.4 in Nov last year.
2. HTC Sensation has been notoriously known to have unresponsive touch screen and a palm death grip. Not all Sensations, but quite significant amount and probability. Like my only one friend that owns one, and his house mate..
3. Motorola only just recently updated its ICS plans for their devices and Atrix 2 is getting ICS in Q3 as well and other than that I do not know much about its goods and bads.
What I want to suggest is, why not consider a Galaxy S2? At least, the international version GT-I9100? Because it has already gotten ICS and the dev support is huge therefore it is easy to root and have the latest firmwares (mainly also because Samsung did not lock its bootloader like HTC).
p.s. I wanted to post links to support what I said but I couldn't because I have not posted enough yet..

Hi have you read my reply yet? I realised we posted at the same time..
I would advise against an LG phone, they are notoriously poor quality. Maybe they have improved in recent years, but I know they did have a bad reputation and the LG I had for a while wasn't excellent. Some functions stopped working within days of getting the phone and would only work again after doing a factory reset and then it would only be a few days again. And occasionally it would randomly refuse to send or receive texts.
But maybe they have improved?

Recently read The Verge's review on their second latest flagship, LG Optimus 3D Max, apparently not. Just more rip-off design of Samsung (eg. the Galaxy S2 hump at the back) and poor software (e.g. Camera app crashing)..

Idk I have used my LG Optimus Me for about 5 months on stock before loading up CM7.2 Everything worked flawlessly and perfect. I never had go restart it or do anything to fix it. It just...worked So I would go for the LG. The only bad side was their customer support. I sent them a email regarding software updates. They said my phone will get upgrade. Two months later they said that it won't. And they won't give source codes for our device and their reluctance to do so gets on my nerves since it holds up development. But maybe its just because back then my Me was a mid-range device.

I think having CM7.2 work flawlessly on your Optimus ME is all thanks to the Cyanogenmod team, not LG. And like you said, what LG is doing is holding up the development of their devices, unlike Samsung.
So if the OP can also consider getting a Galaxy S2, that will be great
Thanks for your replies guys ....
Might just pull me up against lg....
But I think sensation or atrix would be to choose from ....
And about s2 ...its a bit out of my reach here ...costly still ...I would have got that for sure if I had enough $$$

Not exactly CM team but still not tanks to LG. But I think you misunderstood me. Stock Froyo was working perfectly. I went to CM for a bigger version of Android and more features. It is true however that LG holds up development but only of custom roms.

Well if the difference of the Galaxy S2 is too much then I would suggest Sensation because its dev support seems to be better than the other 2. Plus the international version of Sensation has already gotten its ICS update as well. So it has many ROMs available and also supported by the latest MIUI 4 if not CM9.

These threads amuse me. Here's 5 phones, pick one. And asking in the SGS2 section no less. That's like asking a bunch of Mac owners if they should buy a Mac or a PC.
Clearly you're open to a new carrier because you're choosing between 5 phones. If you had to stay with a specific carrier, that already cuts your choices down to 2 or 3 since the SGS2 and Sony handsets don't support the same 3G bands as the HTCs. Your country will factor in as well since launch availability, pricing, and local carrier discounts will incentivize some phones over others.
Those are just some of the considerations that don't even have anything to do with the phones themselves. Of those 5 choices, how many here have had 20 minutes hands-on with more than 2 of them? I haven't. Most of the opinions here will likely come from hours of aggregating editorial reviews. While those are valuable in their own way, asking a forum pales in comparison to doing that research on your own. Also, you can bet that almost no one here has played with a Sensation yet.
OP, I don't mean to be a douche but nobody here will offer a more meaningful opinion than one you could come up with on your own.

If you want a future proof phone say atleast for a year or two..
then the SGS 2 and Sensation are your best bet..
SGS2- you will be able to root and make sure you have the latest software thansk to XDA
Sensation - will not be able to root yet (locked bootloader) until some brilliant XDA members manages to crack it
I am considering the Sensation as I feel I hopefully wouldn't need to root it for atleast a year or two by which time somebody might have cracked its boot loader
The milestone has been out almost 2 years and the bootloader is still not cracked

I can get a high end phone price isnt a issue just need a phone which can last for a year or two, should be durable i am not a fan of rooting devices so i dont really need that until it is necessary to meet the techonolgy in shape of updates.
Sony phones look like toys with good feature, HTC looks solid, i have Samsung Wave at the moment though it has great features but the Bada OS which is not cracked yet, so i want to try Android now.
So far by reading reviews, user comments, watching videos i have found SGSII best but on the other hand there are people complaining about battery, sound, lag, reboots etc etc which is really confusing.
Note: I am from Pakistan so contract thing doesnt work here, i will get a Sim Free phone by paying full price of it thats why it is really necessary to do a research and ask for guidance.
How about the Google Nexus S (made by Samsung).
Always reqcieved the latest Android updates straight from Google.
Very stable.
NFC reader.
Many Custom ROMs.
Identical hardware to the Samsugn Galaxy S i9000 (4" AMOLED i9020, or sLCD i9023)
The phone feels like a phone in your hands.
No lag unlike the Samsung i9000.
About 350 Euros last time I checked.
handtec.co.uk post internationally.
Sadly, no microSD card, no FM Radio. Lacks some hardware enabled codecs for video, but still plays most and can play other formats using software decoding.
The hardware of Nexus S isnt outdated ? I guess most of the future applications will support dualcore phones.
Have mine for two days now and I must say this one of the best phones I got my hands on.
Battery life is amazing. Camera it's amazing.samsung's email client and screen is fantastic.
And 1.2ghz dual prossessor is so so fast.. Can't even compare to htc vision oc 1.8ghz cm7.

We get it, your battery life sucks. Take a look at your apps, because the majority of users say the battery life is great. I've done no tweaking except freezing a few hubs, everything still syncs in the background and I'm sitting on 92% now, unplugged at 7am this morning. (It's now 2:20pm here.)
I just got my sgs2, my previous phone was a desire but I miss htc sense already. But I am hoping someone will port sense to the sgs2 soon there already is a mostly working port for the sgs1
Today I went to a local bestbuy to take a look at the galaxy nexus, the phone I wsa originally going to wait for. I'm glad I got the Amaze...I was not impressed with any aspect of the galaxy nexus...even at 720p the pentile screen on it still manages to mess up the quality of the screen to a certain extent. if I was to pick screens I would def pick my qHD amaze screen over the amoled 720p. The cameras are not even comparable. we have a backside illuminated wide aspect f/2.2 aperture...where as the galaxy nexus uses a 5mp regular old camera the phone seems a bit long too...just as I though the sgs2 was little bulky this one seems a little bulky too. Amazes size is almost perfect. ICS does seem a little weird without the hardware buttons...I actually rather prefer the soft touch bottoms..the phone is long and does not feel as nice as my amaze in the hand...build quality is the crap plastic feeling I got with my sgs2 when I first bought then returned...overal...right now all it has over the amaze is ICS...I don't even see the big deal with ICS... all the features plus more of ICS area already on sense 3.0 and 3.5 minus the multi tasking and...sense does a good job of integrating facebook twitter all that stuff...something ICS is striving to do add widget locket and adw ex and you have a phone much more user friendly than ics imo. I can't wait till the OTA update of ICS for Amaze I hope they don't F it up...I rather like gingerbread at this point and am pretty much happy with my phone minus the stupid bloatware, which thankfully I was able to freeze using titanium backup using temproot before the wifi calling update...
Ics will look most likely what it looks like on the sensation go check it out links are here in the general forum

Well you can take solace in the fact that the amaze can flash multiple rom types, where as the galaxy nexus would only support a handful of custom roms due to the lack of capacitive buttons

Software* a device is hardware and hardware can't support other hardware as far as I know? If your gonna be sarcastic and put down someone's opinion at least don't look stupid while doing it. On that note I would rather have more hardware keys imo helps for like miui where you hold the home button to turn the flash light on and since miui will be updated I don't think it's considered outdated software as you tried to imply and failed.

I've used the ICS Rom for the HTC Inspire and found that even though its in its early stages of development It's very impressive, the captivative buttons are very fitting! I also own a Galaxy Nexus and even though my Amaze is my first pick right now due to build quality for the first time I'm feeling a greater interest in the ICS stock UI and keyboard which I find to be significantly better than that of the Amaze. I do enjoy the the display on the Amaze over Nexus and given that it will receive ICS I'm sticking with HTC.
If anyone is wondering why I also have the Nexus I got it from Bell for signing a contract after I had already paid full price for the Amaze from Telus.

It's all pretty much eye candy, same function but a different method or look of doing. Sharing photos for example rather than menu or tap to select the share options the different options automatically display like gmail, Google+ etc after a new photo is captured. Visual stuff off hand...key pad, lock screen, contacts and app drawer.
Maybe it's just the new feeling of it but I'm impressed. Stock Gingerbread to ICS is like Touchwiz to Sense IMO

hi guys.. i am looking to buys an android phone but i am stuck between galaxy s2 motorola razr and optimus 2x. i want a phone which is closest to being unbrickable and has more custom roms etc. plz suggest me what phone should i buy. thanks
I think that the most unbrickable and mod addicted phone is o2x.. luckily lg legalized root and mods so you'll never lose your warranty
Sent by my Optimus 2x using Tapatalk
I suppose my favorite would be the Droid Razr, just because it's been getting a lot of good credit lately, although you wouldn't be going wrong with any of those phones.
thanx mate i think i will go for o2x its cheaper then the rest and tegra2 is really fun for a gamer like me. just want to know if the 512 ram is enough? specially in future after ICS update will it be able to handle that. also it had a bug in the beginning which hangs the screen and often reboots automatically. has that been solved ??
512MB RAM should be enough for pretty much anything - these days, that is. I wouldn't worry too much about it since in a couple years you're likely to replace the phone, right?
If you are going to spend the money on the razr I would suggest going with the HTC Rezound. HTC has a huge following of dedicated developers, plus they allow you to unlock your phones from their website.
I suggest you rather take a HTC.The support for the custom roms is much more important than other manufacturers. Like hobble said, the HTC Rezound could be a good choice, but there is another phone I could suggest you if you are ready to wait one or two months, the Xiaomi MI-One, for the price : 250-300Euros. (specs : Dual core to 1,2 or 1,5 GHz, 4" SLCD, 1GB RAM...)
6 months would be a record for me. lol
anyway thanks got o2x finally very happy with it works like a charm
thanx guys i finally got o2x. budget phone and i am really enjoying it. lg is not a bad company after all. had a bad perception abt them

I'm an inspire user who's been debating switching to the Note for awhile, but decided to see what the Galaxy S3 would look like... Now that the specs have been released, it doesn't seem all the impressive.
So what about the Note? Is it worth it? It seems to be a very popular phone according to its users... What of the "lag," that I've read about... Do custom ROMS basically fix that? (I know I felt the Inspire was a tad laggy until I started using custom roms/kernels).
Also, what is the situation as far as custom ROMS.... are you satisfied with what's available?
Thanks for letting me know about your phone.... I'm extremely interested (especially with the recent price drop).
There are plenty of roms to choose from. For me, team objections new ROM plus dagr8 tablet mode is perfect. It makes me love the note even more. The.combination of these have no lag. Most custom roms don't, and incest they release kernel source for ics it'll get even better. Personally I think it's one of the best (definitely the most beautiful) phones on the market.

This is my second Note. ....I had an international Note first, and it works very well.My wife even likes it and wants it when I am "through with it" as she puts it....lol. I told her that there will have to be a Note 2 before that happens......
Later......
Vs
I came from the inspire.
There is no comparison between the two devices. The note has a faster processor, better screen, more ram for programs and more storage. The S-pen is a great addition. The Camera is better + it has a front facing camera.
As far as lag, I have not experienced any lag worse than on the inspire. When I sold my inspire it was running the latest CM7. Running the note on ICS beta's are faster than the Inspire was OC'ed.
The BIGGEST thing you have to think about is physical size, I love it, some do not. As far as performance goes you can't make a valid comparison.

Well worth it imo. we still own an inspire and have given it to my 11 yr old son. great phone but you will be more than pleased with the note.

Thanks guys... Might have to pick this up in the next week or two. The size is definitely not an issue for me, as I'm a pretty big guy, and I love the idea of a large cell phone screen.
I came from the Inspire as well.
After running ICS on the Inspire, GB & TW is a let down.
Once we (Note users) get our own version of ICS, it'll be even better. Which will be pretty impressive, considering ICE on DHD & Inspire ran really well.

G.note can easily be my Primary phone as soon as they fix the radio to work 99% with AWS 1700
currently the radio is at like 90%, it's usable, just not reliable enough as the only phone
other than that, the G.note is the perfect device for everything.
the natural writing is what i like the most about the G.note, which also eliminates all the problems i have with my oily fingers, using the Stylus instead of my fingers keeps my screen smudge clean for longer periods of time
Too many people cry or bit** about touchwiz. There are plenty of good launchers on the the playstore. If you dont like it, root it and flash a rom. Samsung has already made their point about keeping tw on their devices. Only the Nexus will have pure google os. Also Note that HTC Sense is just as bad but LG is worse.
-Once you go NOTE, you'd say 4 inches a Joke

There is no comparison between the two devices. The note has a faster processor, better screen, more ram for programs and more storage. The S-pen is a great addition. The Camera is better + it has a front facing camera.
As far as lag, I have not experienced any lag worse than on the inspire. When I sold my inspire it was running the latest CM7. Running the note on ICS beta's are faster than the Inspire was OC'ed.
The BIGGEST thing you have to think about is physical size, I love it, some do not. As far as performance goes you can't make a valid comparison.

DOOOO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1one
The Inspire was the best Android phone I had... until I got my Note. Sure, there are more ROM choices for the Inspire, but as far as performance and capability, the Note wins hands down. I don't regret it one bit. Not even now that the One X is out and the SGS3 on the way. I don't know if I could ever use a smaller screen again.
HTC Sense
I came from a Inspire 4g loved the phone but always wished the display was bigger especially for texting. Now the the NOTE is better in every way except for one thing the UI. Touchwiz is OK it gets the job done but it's nothing like HTC Sense doesn't look as good or have as many options Sense had. Now Sense did slow down the Inspire anlong with the bloatware form AT&T but the custom ROMs made for it fixed all that so you would get beauty and speed from Sense there are roms for the Note that speed up touchwiz but the UI is not near as good as HTC Sense

So are none of the ICS ROMS I see in the development forum working that well, or what?

They are based off of a leak, so they have some minor issues. Some people complain more than others. /shrug
Personally, I have been running The Unofficial 1.1A2 from the day I bought my note, with zero issues. I am waiting for the official release of ICS and source, before flashing again.

The ICS roms work very well and I've been using ICS since the leak was released with almost zero issues.

go to the store try both the note and the ONE x first
Another question:
Are there any ROMS on this phone that feature some nifty Cyanogen features (status bar toggles, etc.)? I see that there aren't any CM7/9 ROMS available, and I love using CM7 on the Inspire.

CM9 is in the works I believe.
So I'm trying to decide between the G2 , the One , and the S4. I was about to order the One until I saw the G2 on sale , so I kind of want the G2 now. But I'm worried about 2 things. One is I've read up on a lot of people who have dropped the G2 from a low height and the screen cracked. And on top of that most of the stories I've read the digitizer doesn't function properly or the phone just wont turn on. Is this a big problem with the G2? I don't mind the screen cracking , but if it cracks AND doesn't work that worries me. Also , will development pick up for this device? I know it came out not too long ago , but will there be more Roms ported from the Nexus 5 since its the same hardware ( Mostly ) ? Also what are the advantages over the S4 and the One? I know the G2 has better specs but is it really that noticeable ? And since I root my phones and install just stock CM etc will there really be a noticeable difference in speed for me ?
And if I root the device as soon as I get it , and install a custom Rom , theres a way to flash it back to stock to where they'll take it back right? ( The Verizon version )
Yes it is noticeable and the phone has amazing battery comparable to the note 2 which was amazing btw I came from the s4 and the camera is much better less chance of blurring

Here is another tid bit even on a wind mobile version of s4 which comes with no carrier bloatware and lone behold Samsung put it's on bloatware apps on it...then you have to remember to turn off their 50 useless features that you will never use and kill your battery quicker then quick.

It's truly an awesome phone. I'm also coming from Note 2 and yeah this thing blows that out of the water. Honestly the G2 launcher is pretty incredible. As someone else mentioned, it's like LG mimicked CM a bit. So many options and customizations and features. I sometimes help a coworker out with his Note 3 and after getting the G2 it really shows how stale/outdated TouchWiz feels these days.
I've mostly had Samsung devices (Epic Touch, Epic Touch 4G, Note 2 and GS3 a bit (wife's), now on G2 and couldn't be happier. Really a beautiful phone with amazing battery life.
For the first time in a long time I am not running a home launcher. LG did a fine job putting this OS together for the G2. There are so many small things LG has done right with this phone that I am not regretting the switch from Samsung. As others have mentioned the battery life is just amazing!

This phone is great, it looks good and has a beautiful 5.2" screen. I bought one, but unfortunately I returned it and kept my S4 (octocore) for a few reasons.
G2 PROS:
- Big and bright screen.
- Good looking phone.
- Excelent battery life.
- SnapDragon 800.
G2 CONS:
- Underperforming GPU. Adreno 330 on G2 perform as much as Adreno 320. Z1, Z Ultra and N3 Adreno 330 are much better.
- Screen can't keep constant 60 FPS on games, probably has some synch issues. Even when the GPU is capable. It just fluctuates all the sime between 55 and 60 FPS.
- Some color banding.
- Some physical vertical lines on screen, once you notice it is a little annoying.
- No SDCARD, the 32GB model is mandatory.
Since I mostly use my phones for gaming, the GPU problems is what make me hold my S4 and ditch my G2, otherwise I would have keep it.
PS. If LG fixes GPU problems with update, I would happily take this phone again
But has anybody dropped their phone a few times without it breaking ?
I haven't heard of any screen cracking when dropped, but I would assume whoever didn't have a case look their phone. It's easy to crack a phone when our has no case. I have a Tech21 case and was throwing the phone around the mobile store and nothing broke on the phone so I'm happy. As far as development is concerned, I hope it does pick up, but the stock is ok for me right now because I'm rooted and I don't need to tether. I actually sold my S4 for this. It had too much lag with tw for me. And last, yeah you can flash it back to stock. Imo this is one of the nicest phones on the market

If you're an idiot who keeps dropping your phone and don't have a case on it, I suggest you get a dummy phone

If you're worried about durability then cross out the S4. I haven't dropped the G2 but my old S4 easily got its screen cracked when I dropped it while it had a case on. Overall, I prefer the G2 over the S4. Can't speak for the One though since I never used it but supposedly the One's successor is going to be released in Q1 of next year so you may want to take that into consideration.
Just pulled trigger & upgraded from the og razr to the g2 while their free on vzw.

I say just go for it. You have a 14 day period to swap it for a different phone.
Since i picked up my G2 i havent even looked at any of my other devices if that tells you anything...awesome device.

I wrote this in a different thread. I bought a g2 to compare it to my Droid Maxx. The nicer bigger screen is all that I am liking more as of now. Everything else especially the operating system and battery life are better on the Maxx, by alot. I got the soak test update on the Maxx before that the pictures were better on my G2. Now they are about the same. IMHO the maxx is a better phone.

Why would you compare a 30 mhz battery to a 35 mhz?
Because its part of the phone. A feature.... Something that makes it better

If LG were smart they would ditch they're lame OS and go AOSP their next phone. The notification bar is beyond cluttered at least Samsung hides their clutter. Not liking LG one bit. Love the phone, hate the features (except knock on)

I don't care about the LG skin since I install Custom Roms ....And also the only 2 things I'm worried about is will it last long term physically and will development pick up

I in the same boat. I'm about to switch carriers (Sprint) And the only phones i'm interested is the G2 and the HTC ONE. I have a S4 as we speak...
I'm tired of TW since I used to have it in S2 days. And it is no different than the S3.. Comes to find out my S3 takes better pictures than my S4 weird.. In any case I have had bad experience with LG when I had the G2X (OPTIMUS 2X) LG completely forgot about that phone and was not giving support for it neither releasing source code.. And that phone had an NVIDIA Tegra processor witch they wont release their source code either.... So I've seen before the Optimus G after a while of it being released and still had a lock bootloader. What I care much is development support.. Because if the manufacture not supporting it we will be the only ones that do and for that to happen this phone have to have support of maufactoring for releasing source code and enabling unlocking bootloader. I see that the G2 is doing pretty good and that Is why I would like to give it another chance. I know they said that they want to turn things around the company when they released this device and I hope they do for the best. The HTC one is the other phone i'm interested in but the lack of the camera comparation between this phone and the One I seen online Makes me want to slap HTC.
It wont be long before i make the switch to sprint and till then I will be looking more into the G2 to see if development picks up... Another cool thing is if I could flash International roms on the Sprint G2. That should be good more developers working together.
