Will this work in ICS 4.0.4? Could you improved the code to suite it the the latest update. Thanks...
Same stuff in ICS... look in /system/etc and you'll find the hw_config.sh
I tried on CM7.2 but I see no difference.
The screen does not adapt to the environment light, even blocking the sensor with my finger does nothing.
any ideas?
thanks in advance,
Aris
Out of the box - SE did not enable the Ambient Light Sensor... In order to get this working one needs to modify the /system/etc/hw_config.sh file.
FXP appear to have missed this going even as far as closing an open 'issue' (issue N° 254 here) that is complete with a full description on the fix without actually fixing the problem...
igorkode's .zip allows you to easily fix this using CWM however I feel this is a little drastic... Don't get me wrong- it works but it overwrites the hw-config.sh and als_curve.conf files without regard for what was there before.
I suggest that you look through the optimisation guide here as this explains in more detail the modifications necessary.
works great for me, i dont care about the automatic light sensor anyway.
fixed the "low brightness after standby"-issue for me and thats all i wanted
thanks!!

Hey,
already saw some threads about this, but nothing helped yet. I didn't test it whith the original rom, but with CM7 (RC or nightly doesn't matter) I don't have any vibration on the phone.
Any ideas?
// Edit: the vibration module, or however the name of it is, can't be broken, because it's still working when starting the device.

What do you mean, it is not working? Explain more, what and how you tested etc, else we cannot help.
With not working I mean, that is is actually not working!
I enabled every option (regarding vibration) on every place and every tested rom. Nothing. No vibration while in Android.
Already reflashed different CM7 versions, everytime with full wipe.

On stock ROM, go to service menu(*#*#7378423#*#* on phone pad), Service Tests and test the Vibration. Does it work?
Do you have any links for the stock files? Backup seems to be broken. It's stuck at the SE logo...

Link to my tutorial in my signature, there are links for stock firmware.
Directly in front of my eyes ... I'll test your tutorial tomorrow. Thanks for this. Status will be posted here.
Great it's working with the stock rom. Thank you!
I'll contact the CyanogenMod maintainers. Maybe they'll fix this soon. Otherwise I wait until June for the 4.x release.
When you are in the Cyanogen Mod,did you tick the haptic feedback? That is the true vibrate word...
Sent from my SK17a using xda premium
I thought, haptic feedback only applies while touching the screen. An yeah, it was activated too.
If you’re one of those people that wishes your LED notification light was that bit brighter to notice missed calls or unread SMS/emails, then you may want to check out a new mod. It is directed to owners of the 2011 range of Sony Xperia handsets, running stock firmware.
Three different packages are available to download – Standard, High and Ultra. The mod can be installed via recovery and the image below shows what difference it can make to your LED notification light. Apparently, the author of the mod says that there is no risk to the LED. If you want to find out more click the source link below.
I´m not responsible for any damage. Take a nandroid before using!
This Mod works on all Sony based GB and ICS ROMs for all Xperia 2011 Series
There is absolutely no risk for your LED on Xperia 2011 Phones but don´t test it yourself on other devices you may damage your LED if you do this!!
If you want this mod for another device, i recommend following tutorial which will work on all phones:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1956735
Update v2:

Hello.. you have nice work, and I like it. But adding "delay" before change the brightness value is looks smooth and save the battery. Like blackberry device.
for example. You have 0,5 second delay before change the brighness value. You are in dark position, then move to bright position than before in 0,3 second, and then back to dark position. in this even, it should not change the brighness value. If more than 0,5, the value will be change. but you must set the range brightness of the light. I think it would be better. :fingers-crossed:

Well, if you are trying to say that you cannot change your brightness on custom ROMS and can change it on Stock ROM, then, it may be a bug on the custom ROMS. Almost all custom ROMS are made on the same base ROM which developers modify according to their needs and needs of the people. So maybe that's a permanent bug and will take some time to get fixed. No worry, you can always use the stock ROM. It's not so bad.

I don't know, because when a rom like eXperience v2 is fresh it works, but randomly appears the bug (On the same day or some days after).

Is randomly, sometimes I tried again roms already downloaded, and happens without installing apps (fresh installation). Its rare, but is not a important thing for me, I only asks if happens to someone else. I don't know if is the UI or is the rom, the same UI works fine in stock, flashed at CWM (custom kernel in stock). Btw, any ideas?
Don't know what is exactly causing this bug.
I would advise you to do a complete fresh reinstall of the whole ROM
Sent from my Xperia U using xda app-developers app
Since you say that it appears randomly. Maybe the censor was not working. Then it is a hardware issue.

In stock with an other UI. Also I tried a UI for CWM in stock and no problem , but I love the things of an custom rom. I can change brightness in Configuration, also attach a screenshot ,
EDIT: I can change brightness in the slider controller with this bug, also shows the current brightness (is hard to see), so is not hardware issue, is only visual
well to get straight to the point here's a quick patch for those that are having issues with the circle button acting as back button. This patch is also known as the ALT Modifier fix. Also added, the R button should be to take a picture ONLY when in camera mode! it will NOT call the camera app.
I think this patch may be already out their I think for ICS this one is for GB. I have only tested this on Stock based & turbo miui GE ROMS but i think it should work on CM based as well (if someone can confirm that will be nice) download the flashable ZIP file in the attachments. I also maid my installer look a little better
great work.:good:

it might work on ics+ but im not entirely sure, that would depend on how much code has been changed and also i dont think this zip is KK flashable. I also dont have a play anymore to test it, unfortunately all i can say is make sure to do ful backup and try flashing it.
Update - full working flashable deodex here:

Hi @levone1,
Amazing work, thank you I've been looking for this! I flashed your zip, but I noticed that the fingerprint sensor is not active, and the option to set a fingerprint up has disappeared from the Settings... Any idea of why this could be the case, and of how one would be able to fix this?
Again, thanks for the work, am already using it, the fingerprint thing is just a small nuisance!

It's been a while, but if I remember right, the fingerprint software was left out of US firmwares, because of some legal thing. You need to use a European/Asian fw to get it. I guess I made this deodex from US...
You could try CE1_118_deodex file from first post here - https://forum.xda-developers.com/x-compact/themes/existenz-xc-t3867917
